I do like the app quite a lot or used to like it for the ease of planning and good maps. Now, my feelings are mixed as with the last updates the map seemed to get worse. Unless you zoom in quite a bit, you can't see any roads, cities, some rivers and especially their names, other points of interest. Planning a route slightly longer becomes a pain, as you need to see the larger picture of the route, zooming out you can't see any roads or cities, zooming in you can't see where roads lead to.

  2. Scott Meadows-avatar

The free version is so crippled that I can't tell whether it round useful or not. Responding to your response... It seems that there is no regional map that includes Banff National Park. So instead the app offers a world map for $39.99? If you don't offer a regional map, how could a world map help?

  3. AltBren-avatar

Decent app, much better for cycling than Google. If you set it to mountain bike route, it seems to incorporate parks, green spaces etc to the route plan. Update has made the interface much easier to use. My only grumble is that it insists on saving every route you do. An option for "exit amd don't save the route" would be helpful, or you have to go back and delete them all, which is a bit of a peck.

  4. Mega Mike-avatar

    Mega Mike

I like this app. But I do have a couple of improvement points. Her pronunciation could be better. I couldn't understand why she kept saying "segway"??? But I now think she's saying "cycle way". But why not just say "bike path"! The map stays fixed to north. It would be much better if the map always pointed in the direction of travel.

I was looking for a navigating app for my watch. Found that Komoot will work. It works extremely well apart from it showing the line of the route not any map behind it. Please update the watch software to show a map as well as the line. Samsung watch. Otherwise the route planning and ease of use is fantastic. Being able to see the elevation pre ride is great. Thanks the a great app.

  6. Reinier Bloem-avatar

    Reinier Bloem

Great for discovery, sharing and navigation. Especially the voice navigation is very practical. I use voice navigation all the time with a bone conducting headphone (Aftershokz), so my ears are completely open and I can perfectly hear all environmental sounds like birds and traffic. Works with road biking, mtb and hiking. Voice navigation while mountain biking in the woods has a delay: instructions do come 20 meters too late sometimes. Komoot is working to improve this.

  7. Andy Thackeray-avatar

Works perfectly... That was my initial thought.. however after looking more closely when planning off road MTB routes and supposedly using the bridleways available it fails miserably... It misses many useable bridleways and puts you on the main highways. By far the best app is the genuine OS Ordnance Survey app... And it's a cheaper subscription In response to support... I have selected the correct map for MTB.. it just selects roads over genuine bridleways, used in the app not a pc

  8. Drew Godspeed-avatar

    Drew Godspeed

I rate this 5 stars because it's great paired with All Trails and Trailforks. This app is excellent in my experience using the GPS navigation on trails or roads/streets. I'm not the type to complain about a tiny hiccup when I like 99% of a feature, but in saying that...I purposely went off course of the route I planned to see how it would reroute me and it needs some fixing to reroute you smarter but definitely not a deal breaker. The map is clear enough not to go off route to begin with.

There is no such a major problem in this app, but it's a very silly problem. I can't login to this app. If I touch the "continue with email" button, my mail id appears but it disappears within a fraction of a second. I couldn't even sign in. I installed this application after GCN's advertisement, but I didn't expect that this app will be that awful! I was so disappointed and wasted lot of time with trying to sign in.

Premium is advertised for USD59.99 but when I click on it and I'm redirected to Google Pay I am asked to pay AUD99.99. The conversion rate doesn't stack up no where near. Also from Australia I am allowed to choose only premium, and only with activating VPN I see more options. It would be nice to allow people to have a trial before they commit to spend A$100 on your product. Edit: Just checked the price after your change but I see no change on my end. I'm still asked to pay A$99.99..

  11. Roman Nuritdinov-avatar

    Roman Nuritdinov

That was the best sport planning app for period of time. Now you should pay for everything including basic features like tours grouping or hiking trails for unbelievable amount of money, even due to pandemic period. I'm using this app maybe once a year, but you're required to buy premium for the whole year. Support can't do anything with this also. Still can't use custom POIs and have no benefits being expert. Will switch back to offline open source alternatives like osmand or so for planning.

  12. Stefan Daler-avatar

    Stefan Daler

Good app. Gradient hard to see, impossible to optimise route by gradient. Cycle paths are easier to distinguish now in green but still vanish when you zoom out. Generally colours are all too indistinct. Graphical and zoom emphasis is given to Motorways and Railtracks, the two routes you legally can not cycle or hike. I prefer to see emphasis on the roads I can cycle, even as I zoom out. Road names are obscured by the route, see CycleStreets app for how it should be done.

  13. Megan Webb-avatar

    Megan Webb

Such a useful app! I use it to plan out my hikes and the voice navigation is spot on! I do wish there was a way to overlay completed hikes to identify areas that I haven't walked. I am trying to walk every steet in my neighborhood.

  14. Yash Sharma-avatar

    Yash Sharma

Really great app for hikes and bike trip organization. Some recommendations: 1. User defined segments, points and highlights should not be on base map and instead should be separate layer. 2. Base map should show all the peaks and altitude clearly. 3.There should be map layer for color based elevation profile. 4. Different color or legend for klettersteig routes. In the total route klettersteig distance should also be measured. 5. Glacier routes. 6. Ski tour and Snowshoes tours layer.

  15. Emma A-avatar

    Emma A

Good app but user interface could be better. I think if filters were added for those searching for hikes/trails (e.g. Exercise level, distance, time, steepness) then it would be easier for people to find local hikes in their area suited to their level - rather than scrolling through a list trying to find the perfect trip.

  16. Royal Qulusoy-avatar

    Royal Qulusoy

Very useful! It records every single detail. Although I couldn't add my destination coordinates to the route while hiking, visible horizontal lines helped me. Thank you for creating this amazing app!

  17. Riccardo Francioni-avatar

    Riccardo Francioni

The service is great, but the navigation voice took me back to 2008 - I understand the need of keeping it efficient, still it's frankly unacceptable nowadays.

  18. Chris Abele-avatar

    Chris Abele

Useful, with a practical interface. Just needs an option for audio highlights (possibly video too?), because there could be instances of nice audio along your route. Like a skylark in flight.

  19. Rob Hudson-avatar

    Rob Hudson

Was OK until they kept pushing you to buy maps for areas. You have my personal data, you have my cookies, just give me a gpx route and stop asking for £20. Uninstalled after 12 months.

  20. Steve Muscat Azzopardi-avatar

    Steve Muscat Azzopardi

I use this for cycling on mtb & e-city bike. It's mostly great but sometimes does route me through harsher terrain than I'd like with the pedelec. Sometimes it does not rotate the map, I'd rather always be going up the screen.

  21. Valentino Aniballi-avatar

    Valentino Aniballi

Intuitive, interactive, clean UI, multiple routes available, easy to make tour own based on reviewed places or completely new ones. Also easy to understand your level even for beginners.

  22. chris gloster-avatar

Very clear and intuitive UI. Good import of GPX files with suggested updates to waypoints to use known paths. Excellent voice directions. Question to Devs , can you make the app available to wear OS watches such as the fossil ones ?

  23. Chet Manley-avatar

    Chet Manley

Many Popups and want me to drive on the road with child. Edit: Sorry I never asked for such an overload. A good app works the other way: If I want more Informations I turn them on!!! Poor development...

  24. Ben Philpot-avatar

    Ben Philpot

Great at doing what it is designed for. I do feel like it lacks a little bit of trail knowledge when it comes to mountain biking. Surges great with my Polar watch!

  25. David Leatherwood-avatar

    David Leatherwood

Tried kamoot out today. One of the few free option apps that allows premapping and navigation that I could find. It even adjusted the route when I decided to end it differently than plotted.

  26. Tanja Willadsen-avatar

    Tanja Willadsen

Great for long walks exploring my local area. Walk in one direction away from home and let the app guide my way back. Easy to adjust the route along the way as well and track the routes.

  27. Felix-avatar

Filtering could be improved by adding new filter criteria, elevation would be a metric I'd like to see for hiking. Also, for many tours the elevation profile seems to be incorrect.

  28. Ivan Peris-avatar

    Ivan Peris

Great map quality, even in less frequented areas, easy to use features (planing a route works like a charm for now) and seems it doesn't drain the battery - also, no subscription needed for full features - one payment and done !

  29. Aayush Pattanayak-avatar

I think the record function is the most brilliant feature of the app. The details after the ride like elevation profile, etc is just amazing. Well done komoot team.

  30. Duncan Sutton-avatar

I was looking for an app to record the local walks I went on to help track distances covered, the record function works perfectly and adds so much more detail. Brilliant and easy to use

  31. Vincent Kwan-avatar

So far so good. Did not get the 5th star because there is one incident the apps locks in one location without updating. I need to restart the apps to refresh the location.

  32. George Petch-avatar

Used for first time today and loved it. Worked just like my sat nav with voice commands, so very little concentration required. Definately my favourite route planning app.

  33. Davide Strata-avatar

Nice, always choose the right path for your sport, not simply the shortest one. Also has lots of interest point available in the area.

  34. Jacob G-avatar

Use Komoot for all my walking. Good app. Accuracy is pretty good. Really helpful in planning my adventures 😊. Could do with adding fitness statistics, such as steps walked.

  36. Amit Rawal-avatar

    Amit Rawal

Didn't know much about this app. Took a bit of working out but now a real fan. Great features and very customisable. Free with County map but then costs. Just beginning hiking so good to get me started. Let's see from there.

  37. Eric Chaize-avatar

It was working fine but got worse lately. Nothing seems to work despite paying premium. And support completely nowhere to be found.

  38. E. Cironke-avatar

Great way to create your own routes and not get lost in wilderness. Only frustration I have that it does not re route other direction if you changed your mind

  39. Lukio Lukioman-avatar

Great app, clean interface. Searching sometimes is a bit tedious. Not all official roads and paths are visible on the map.

  40. Ged Ruxton-avatar

    Ged Ruxton

Generally good for planning but it lacks the Ordnance Survey (OS) maps which is a lot more detailed showing the tracks in more detail. Please include OS maps!

  41. Karl Clouden-avatar

Plans well but the app keeps disconnecting so you dont know where to go. Very frustrating with these intermittent issues. Think I'll go back to Strava!

  48. Aj Dawson-avatar

Dark mode should be available too. Please add "Road Trip" to the categories because it's an outdoor activity too.

Great app to discover new places to walk and ride. Bought the one of versions @ £19. Seems good value.

  52. Wrights-avatar

Love this app but recently I get prompted to buy the world pack in Euros about half a dozen times every ride. It makes using the app aggravating.

  53. Tracy Bell-avatar

Easy to use. Very accurate. I'm not great with tech but even I found this enjoyable to use.

  54. Dustin Lach-avatar

Will give 5 stars when it gives per mile splits. How does a running/biking app not have mile splits. Simple coding, please fix.

  55. Mark Schroeder-avatar

    Mark Schroeder

Recording is good, not so sure about it retaining pictures taken within the app. Features could be slightly better organised. Last niggle, I sometimes forget to stop recording when I get back in the car, which makes it look like I've been walking at 20mph. A reminder or chime when your pace suddenly changes, or a way to edit your walk and remove sections would be helpful...

  56. Noverogi-avatar

Great little app maps are relatively reliable showing all footpaths and it makes a cute little montage for you if you took photos

  57. Mark Haynes-avatar

    Mark Haynes

So much better than what I'd used before. Being we to rotate the phone to find which way accurately is great

  58. Gemma Joyce-avatar

Loads of routes but can't use it easy to navigate as the maps are very vague with few, vague or no directions.

  59. Geraint Dawe-avatar

    Geraint Dawe

Best in class, but ... However, I use the battery saving feature on my phone when using kamoot, it warms me at the start of the journey that it can effect GPS signal. The every time it wakes up it warns me again obscuring the view of the map, until I clear it down normally while cycling and coming up to a junction/route change. This is really frustrating I have been warned about the consequences of using battery saver it is irritating and potentially dangerous. Only blight on great app. TY

First use today and first thoughts are.. Great app, was a bit tricky to get started at my start point and went "off route" at some point and couldn't figure out how to get back on route, the blue line disappeared but maybe I did something wrong I don't know. Will definitely use again

  65. Robbe Janssens-avatar

    Robbe Janssens

Horrible app experience. Manually adjusting a longer route is just impossible. For example I want to change waypoint 18 to 1. There is no way to change the number manually. So you have to drag. But dragging a number is only possible when it happens in the same screen. Because the screen won't move when you are at the edge. Komoot itself is great. You just need a pc to make your routes. Quickly making/changing a route on your phone becomes a frustrating affair. And now I get errors.

  66. Jan-Willem Bogaards-avatar

  68. Vladimir Premeru-avatar

Response to devs: No, it was a one-way tour. The app looked great. Planning, discovering from the laptop, all very good and easy. Then I decided to use the app in real life. Unclear instructions, late or early directions, total confusion if you change the route (it will react after a minute or so), couln't change point of view. I'm glad I haven't bought any maps, and was about to. I tried another app for the rest of my route and it worked very well (not to mention this other one is free)...

Had this app for about a month and was loving it and would have given 5 stars, however went on today to buy the Kent region with I believe was £9, and it has been changed to £60 a year, I don't cycle enough to justify that kind of spending on a app, looks like I'll be looking for a new app again

  72. Patrick van Ewijk-avatar

    Patrick van Ewijk

Looks a great app with lots of interesting places and routes. It doesn't appear to be excessively large like some. Off line working is a bonus too especially for those that dont have a large data limit or poor reception. However "single region" is currently free (normally £4), "Region Bundle" spanning a couple of counties £9 and "The World - All regions" £30. Although off line storage seems small, there is no option for moving it to a flash (SD) card if available as there is with others.

Great for recording routes and planning new ones, also without my offline maps there's a few times I would have got lost which makes it worth it. It's nice being able to share routes and see what other good routes people are doing.

  75. Jimmy L-avatar

    Jimmy L

Great place to share routes with others in your region. The route record features work well and give you the ability to link pictures in their location along the way. I plan to try out more of the available sports. It would be nice to see the elevation view when looking at others routes before you go. It would also be nice to change the direction when planning a route. I could only get it to plan a route in one direction, not the other way.

Not much to say, it's great for hiking, even without WiFi access (mountain walking) I could see how long have I been walking and the trail ahead. This was perfect as the snow usually covered it.

Excellent app for route planning and tracking rides. As a novice cyclist I was really impressed by the app. Easy to use and finally an app with no adds and doesn't pressure you to purchase add ons. Thank you komoot!!

I bought it and while after they introduced paid premium. It's not fair. I already paid for this app (not small amount for me) and they say i must pay extra for bike maps which I need. Not fair. Besides app is very heavy, consumes a lot of battery. Maps are so heavy that i can't store offline large maps (i.e. whole countries). I regret, but i find better options on the market.

Route creation could use some work. I will select that I want a gravel ride and it will bypass obvious gravel roads, paths and trails. It also doesn't do a great job at rerouting either. For example I came to a private road that I had selected and even after I was a mile from it, the app still told me to do a u-turn as opposed to rerouting me. This all sounds very negative, but I specifically did a premium subscription for advanced route selection capabilities. It's a fine activity tracker.

Amazing app and it's free. Some apps like Strava is more interested in its paid customers and make them pay for features komoot has for free. The route planner via the website is great and the planner on the app is good as well. I have recorded over 50 rides and it works perfect each time. It even has voice and visual navigation which other apps still cannot do. If you do want to show off in Strava you can export your gpx file and import in Strava. It is also great for road, MTB,hiking etc

edit: I can't believe that even after a half a year developers still did not manage to fix a Bluetooth connection between Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy watch 3. It is a nice looking app. Maps are reasonably priced and gives you loads of stats from your hike. Once I will be able to use it fully on my Note 20 Ultra with Galaxy Watch 3 it will get 5 stars.

lovely and useful app especially for cycling. just a few advice: 1. Is this app more suitable for right steering countries such as Great Britain? Since I found all the route plans suggest turning left, while in left steering countries turning right will be much easier. 2. This app always launches itself, which is a little bit annoying...

Great app for my biking @ hiking activities. Nice look and feel, easy to figure everyting out on your own. Planing routes seems to be better and easier than on Trailforks and some other popular biking apps. Perhaps, devising some possibility of blocking the automatic transfer of certain Garmin activities would be nice (e.g. open water swimming), as would expanding favorite sports a bit (e.g. adding rock climbing, kayaking, etc.). Not even mountaineerig is included?!

The route ideas are great but there's so many stupid u-turns and irritating sections on routes, taking you round and round the same few streets in different directions, that are frustrating and the navigation is really annoying. I always start using it and then quit halfway through and switch to Google Maps after as it has got on my nerves so much that it's ruining my ride.

Komoot' response to my original review is a useless pass the buck canned response to the problems stated. The problems I am complaining about are algorithm issues rather than data issues. Nearly impossible to plan a route on the Tucson loop trail that actually stays on the trail. Seems like a very poor route planning performance on the USA Today best recreational trails in the United States of America. Even adding in an excessive number of way points won't force the app to stay on the trail.

I often forget to turn off my recording running after a bike ride, so a-lot of my rides end with me traveling 70mph+ for a good few miles until I rememberto turn it off! I also had this issue when using my FitBit too!! Is there a way to edit or wind back the ending point of a tour? If not, please invent it as it has been my issue for years on all fitness tracking apps! Also, surely Komoot dosent think i can ride at 80mph down the A1M for hours at a time? 😂 Cant an algorithm spot this?? 🚵

I've used Komoot for the last 3 years on some fairly lengthy and challenging bike adventures, it's my go to bike navigation. I don't use it for anything else. It's helped me navigate in some tricky parts of the world, and whilst it's not perfect it works well enough for me. Each year as more people use it it does seem to be improving. I've become even more fond of it since taking part in a number of recent webinars, this has allowed me to use it more effectively.

Fantastic to find little hidden gems! Downloaded as new to mtb and needed to find some good routes. I use this to plan out a day of riding and it's fantastic. I've not tracked my rides though I just like the idea of using it to plan a day. Will try tracking on my next ride!

It's a very good app and I think it's better than Strava, which I've been since 2013. I still use Strava in the background. I prefer to have komoot app on visual display. When I complete a ride, I always look at the data, but one thing that seems to be missing is the fastest speed I recorded. This is important to me, as I cycle as fast as I can. So I have to look on Strava for this data. I'm guessing it's a small niggle, but I only cycle at the fastest I can go, as I love the adrenaline rush.

As navigation aids go this app is about as much use as a one legged man at an arse kicking party. I wanted to walk from my house in Luton to a hill just outside Luton. I new the route but I wanted the app to tell me the distance. It kept suggesting a different rout to the one I wanted to take. The app does to recognise some of the alleyways that link streets and act as a short cut for pedestrians. When I complted the walk the app sId I had travelled 93 yards instead of ten miles.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I've planned routes for my holiday and I cant download them to my garmin without paying. I get paying for pre planned routes but not when I've planned it! Unfortunately the free area isn't the area I would of chosen as I live on its corner and offers no inspiration or hidden gems without jumping in the car first. Planning my routes was pretty quick and worked well but I want to see them working!

I use Komoot for bike tours. It works great. I download the route. Then I can leave it on airplane mode to save my battery. It let's me know if I miss a turn and tells me to look at the map to figure out where to go. Only downside is that it doesn't have many routes mapped out in US.

Takes a while to get used to but a fantastic app worth every penny for logging training rides and exploring routes. No way to make it work. I tried to track a bike ride. The way up it didn't track, so arriving there I made sure that I was recording the way back. Only 7,96km of 17,4km were tracked. It made lines between random points cutting curves and stopped tracking several km before the end. Afterwards I tried to adjust our tour of total 34,8km, but the app doesn't permit that. Now I just tried to plan the trip, but the app automatically grabs the whole track of 28,9km instead of 17,4km that we cycled.

Doesn't "support Cobi.bike seamlessly" at all. Routes are user-generated and may include inaccessible or unsafe areas with no professional oversight; despite the app offering paid premium features which the purported link to in the privacy policy takes you misleadingly to the company's "About" page instead of the prices you're apparently agreeing in advance to pay, should you choose to avail yourself of them. There's some nice data to be had about your ride but this isn't the app to get it with

Software is good and useful, but... In the year 2021 when IT technologies are so developed and sophisticated it is very stupid to restict a customer from giving meaningful names to waypoint.
