I've been really enjoying it. Not 5, just for some improvements very necessary on the highlights features, to avoid duplicated entries, and also better language choice, as majority German users should use an option to write all highlights in German, and the default English language could automatically translate everything.

This is an amazing app. It's so amazing I'm really thinking about at least getting the world map. But what the thing is holding me back is to know if it is the same map or a better version, because I'm not really using the navigation. But I've seen there are many trails that I ride and are not on map. Would give five star if you gave a month free trail And to boost your membership you could offer free membership for people that give a certain amount of feedback to the app.

  3. Ron Suchanek-avatar

    Ron Suchanek

Very powerful mapping and navigation tools. The maps are thorough and the app is easy to use. It seems like most of the ride and hike suggestions are focused on Europe than in North America, but that should change as more Americans discover Komoot.

  4. Alejandro Peralta-avatar

    Alejandro Peralta

So far, so good... It has plenty of features (even in the free version). Only thing "conflicting" for me is that I have no immediate use for the monthly premium but find useful the buying world map, however, the monthly premium included it already, so at a certain point you'll pay double for it... I'm nitpicking here tbh, app is great.

  5. Keith Ammann-avatar

    Keith Ammann

It looks pretty enough, but the route finder completely ignores a bike route with a dedicated lane in favor of a busy thoroughfare with no bike lane nearby. For what, speed? It's not even as direct a route. The route finding function is the only thing that might have made this app worth the whole account creation process you have to go through just to try out its features. If it doesn't work right, I have no reason to keep using this app. Uninstalled.

  6. Alan DeFlorio-avatar

This app has a lot of potential if it was reliable. When it works it is good, but that doesn't happen regularly. It's been so frustrating to start the recording only to pull it out of my pocket a mile or 2 later to see that it had stopped a minute or 2 after it had been started. This happens at least 50% of the time. So in my opinion it's a real pos.

I love this app and use it a lot but I recently changed to android and now I can't search for tours near by like I could on iOS and it doesn't have the “Find your perfect tour” feature. This makes it hard to find walks in new areas when I go on holiday or visit family. I've paid the £30 worldwide and beginning to regret it now. It'd be great if the android app matched the ios app!

I use komoot for directions in new areas. Its good at re-routing. You can put an ear bud in and just listen to the directions. It has taken me through a graveyard. So take responsibility for your routes as you should. It has always got me home. It doesn't drain my phone battery. I am now trying it on my garmin. So it connects to my garmin 820 and lots of others. The map is easier to follow using your phone 🤘

  9. Nigel Mathias-avatar

Probably the best navigation app out there, easy to find your way around, it has a few faults, if you want to edit your return route and the out route are on the same roads the way marker get very mixed up. Really good for finding stuff if you are visiting new regions

  10. Robert Farla-avatar

    Robert Farla

Used to be excellent. Now an internet connection is required to use the app on the fly. I have my regions downloaded for offline use, so why can't I use them when im offline?? Edit: Thanks for the hint. Uninstall and reinstall did the trick. The app is no longer glitching out without wifi connection. I updated my rating. For 5 stars, I would like to plan tours offline, though.

  11. Harry Beney-avatar

I find this app infuriating. In principle I love it founded by enthusiasts who want people to share their outdoor experiences; but it is meant to be a planning apo and that's where it feels so hard to use. The logic of planning a cycle route is almost impossible to grasp, and the app is not at all intelligent when it comes to selecting specific roads between your selected way points. I like being connected to fellow enthusiasts but havent any more patience. A waste if £20, I'm afraid to say .

I am using this app in Singapore (bought the premium subscription , one of my friends in UK suggested it) to be frank, i am completly unhappy with the pathfinding. it always asks me to go into automotive roads, and even sometimes into the highways. it ignores park connectors (which are special parks that have cycling roads, no cars allowed) I cannot advise this to anybody living in singapore, until they approve the pathfinding, and the app accepts that i am on a bike, not driving a car)

  13. Jean-Michel Robiou-avatar

This application has transformed my cycle rides. It delivers on the key features that make mapping, navigation, and exploration enjoyable and fun. The routing is sensical and adjustable. As a purpose built application for cycling, it blows Google Maps out of the water. The Premium maps and the Open Cycle Maps online make planning routes a breeze. You will not regret adding this tool to your repertoire.

Cool App. I guess that's the best thing after pushing my limits on my first use on a day of about 12 hours of biking (with lots of breaks). The app was instrumental in me getting where I wanted, I love the planning the stages of your trip Feature and the fact that you can adjust your route, bike paths, or reduce the height you are willing. To go. I love it!

Amazing I use it to plan walks and take photos along the way. Nice thing is it shows you where you took your photo along the map msking it great to share with friends and family.

Superb app and the only one to use for hiking, it is that good. However, its really difficult to find hikes to go on, there is no search function that I can see? This seems a bit crazy, please add a search for hike function!!! If this was added, then its easily a 5 star app.

I used like this app navigation and map planing becouse is very user friendly, but his app is not the best solution for everything. They trick you with dirty tricks just that you buy the premium offline if you don't buy they want you stay all time online that way they could collect all your personal data. Your saved offline route dissapers then you are on route and load it, and you can't load you saved routes offline becouse app don't allow. I need find another app like mapy.cz and others.

  19. Steven Vanhoedenaghe-avatar

Used it yesterday for the first time to plan a route and it did ok. Plotted a nice route and the audio directions are clear and precise. I'm now looking into planning a trip in Stockholm but it would be nice to have a feature that allows you to search for existing itirenaries from local or experienced users without having to find their profiles first. Just a search function would be a great addon

  20. Stephen Spinks-avatar

    Stephen Spinks

Edit: Komoot fixed the misunderstanding and refunded the money, so original rating has been restored. Original review: I really liked using this app but after unexpectedly charging me £60 and refusing to refund me I won't be using it again.

  21. Christopher Bull-avatar

+Komoot usually gives a decent amount of warning before a turn. --Some turns were not stated to be turns / curves were misidentified as turns. I did drop off the route a couple of times because of this. I feel Google's voice directions are more correct, but ++Komoot provided me with really good, safe routes today! +Auto-re-routing was good +All the functions I need are free. Paid ones look quite tempting - Maybe my phone settings are bad, but the voice wasn't very clear with music on.

Ruined my bike ride. GPS totally unusable, sent me and my partner in opposite directions. AI and interface utterly annoying and impossible.

I bought the entire world map option and am very disappointed to find that there are no offline maps available for Ontario, Canada. The app itself is weak in terms of navigation due to direction errors and turn notifications can be late. THe online portal is very good. Make offline maps available for Canada please.

Horrible performance recently. App crashes a lot, map doesn't centre properly during a bike tour. Makes you a real threat on public roads. To bad cause it used to work better. BTW asking for additional money for "premium" from people who already purchased the world wide pack seems pretty greedy.

  25. E500 Compaq-avatar

    E500 Compaq

A little bit of scam and a little bit of bugs make the perfect mix for an app with one star. Day #0: get all prepared for my mountain bike weekend. Install Komoot, see that I need to buy an area to be able to navigate/plan/export there. No problem, I pay happily so I can plan my routes for the next days. Day #1: get lost in the forest. Turns out there is a junction of roads where Komoot did not show one. Reality check: not all roads exist on the Komoot map :-( No problem, as I can see that I can switch over to Opencyclemap too in Komoot... eeer no. Only if I pay again to buy the "Premium edition". Well I purchased the area already, no way you trick me into a next purchase, and a next one... Day #2: get lost again because of turns and roads not shown on Komoot. No problem, make a U-turn, go back and continue as Komoot replanned my route.... eeer no. The planned route has disappeared and I can do nothing to show it again (even exited the app and closed all apps). Planned road still does not display. So I have finished my session (at 25% of my route) and started a new session, with all my statistics lost for that day (like average speed). Day #3: uninstall Komoot. Bang head in the wall.

Great app with a wide range of functionalities. The UI is good looking and there's a lot of potential. However, at times it can be unintuitive and cause confusion. Sometimes in my experience, the navigation page will randomly switch layout to show blank white rows for no reason with the map minimised at the bottom. Also when viewing a tour, who would have thought that clicking the map at the top once and clicking it twice would bring up different app views - to me that's unintuitive.

  28. Z H-avatar

I have been using the app for more than 5 years. It has never let me down or taken me to a dead end. It's very reliable and has only gotten better with the growing community of hikers and cyclists (at least in Germany). My friends, to whom I'd recommended the app, were very impressed with it and have no problems taking their children with them on tours. Quick tip: if you're using S8 (or similar) turn off Edge Lighting in display settings while using Wake-up Display during navigation. Cheers.

The App don't seems work properly . When I tap on "more" (the 3 dots,at the bottom right) the App crashes and on the screen appears a message that says "please check you internet connection and try again" .Also, when I try to record a brand new trip App is not able to find the right current location.

£25 for the world of maps, then comes the offer of premium, the really good maps. Yesterday it sent me up a track that turned out to be a very steep stream bed, not passable without climbing gear, definitely not passable by bike. Dangerous. I haven't bought premium.

We used to love komoot and have used it for years. With the latest upgrade the map has gone missing for our home in Whistler, BC it just shows a blue dot on a blank map and when you search offline maps it can't even find a map for Canada. It tells is "You are a true pioneer, we have no maps for that area. " and there is no where to contact support in their site. Update: the response seems to be a round about way of saying the download offline maps function I paid for has been removed?

  32. Mike Wanders-avatar

ANOTHER UPDATE: The September 2020 update once again has lost the GPS signal. This happens every time you guys update the app. Please fix ASAP as it is otherwise the best hiking app out there! UPDATE: The GPS issue was fixed in April and the app is once again my favorite. Keeping it simple and accurate, without having to rate every hike, run, or ride is great compared to another app. Thanks! No longer works as of the last update in March 2020. Constantly drops GPS, stops and starts.

  33. Joonas Antikainen-avatar

    Joonas Antikainen

Otherwise a good app but planning a route is absolutely the worst I've ever experienced. I hate that it automatically changes/ adjusts the route in the middle of the planning. When trying to correct the route to what I've intended it creates very stupid mini loops inside the route. It should at least give the user an option to switch off the automatic route adjustment. I find it impossible to create a loop with Komoot. I paid for the whole world regions, please do something about the route planning.

  34. FaRo-avatar

It seems like this app probably has quite a lot of cool features, especially in the "pro" version, but sadly it's not usable. It constantly closes itself and the TTS is extremely robot-like and almost impossible to even understand. On a positive note, this is the only navigation app I've found so far that understands that I can use the path below the train station and don't have to go around.

  35. Stefan Daler-avatar

Meaningless change log fails to acknowledge permission creep. Why does this update need a new permission? (Read Google service configuration).

    Santo Gioia

I am not happy with the user experience after the last update. When I zoom in in the tab where the current gradient is shown, the gradient profile doesn't rescale the maximum and minimum altitude shown. The effect is that this visualization is useless because it shows a flat profile. In a previous update, another nice feature was dropped: the gradient profile doesn't move anymore when my position changes. As a result, I have to actively move the profile to see the updated position and gradient.

  37. Joël Harkes-avatar

Good app if you are paying 30 euro for offline maps. Sadly only other option bid to pay 9 euro for a tiny region (instead of a country). And that the premium options are still behind subscription model. If you don't walk regularly it's too expensive. It would be nice to have a lower subscription fee for features that are only useful for single walkers. It would be nice to clearly see the pricing model in the app description.

  38. Greig Neville-avatar

    Greig Neville

Asked it to create a MTB route, but selects footpaths which cannot be cycled on when there are byways and bridleways close by, almost in parallel and heading in the same direction? Also the map doesn't auto orientate on my android phone. Audio directions are a bit hit and miss. For now I'll stick with a map and work it out for myself and then I won't have to post pictures and tell the world what I've been up to.

This app is amazing! Wanted to bike round london but wasnt sure where to go or how easy would be riding on the road. This app allowed me to plan pur trip to see certain sites. I cannot rave about it enough about how easy it was to use! Worth downloading!!

  40. Jose Ramirez-avatar

    Jose Ramirez

Paying for the basics ... Not a very interesting app. If you want to compete with Google maps or other services that offer bike routes certainly need to give better features in the free version. Once you have the user base then create premium features or place ads 🤦🏻‍♂️

  41. Jamie Smith-avatar

Used to be good. Now it's just pure frustration Trying to map out a route & it keeps crashing. So i select a shorter segment and it picks a bad choice for a route. When i try to add a place midway to fix the route it adds it ad the end, basically selecting the whole bad route, looping back and then using my waypoint. If its something i need to do differently at my end, then its a user interface fail as i can't figure it out. Added complications = deleted apps! Still crashes. 0 stars

Amazing tool. I use it for mountain biking routes. Very fun and simple to use (app and web). Sometimes I use the hiking routes to help me avoid roads when with the 7 year old! Sadly I'm unable to upload photos from my device to the completed rides.

  43. James Bradford-avatar

    James Bradford

Great app but few rough edges I'd change. The wake up screen for navigation failed to work on a few occasions until I pressed either the home or lock button (so I got lost). On completed tours the app only shows elevation profile, but if you go onto the website you can also see speed. Why can't speed be on the app too? I would find also seeing pace useful (km/min) for running and cycling

  44. Jay Cobb-avatar

    Jay Cobb

Great app! It has ALMOST everything needed (even Galaxy smartwatch integration)..just missing a FOREST FIRE map. And don't try to claim that this comes with the premium under the "weather" category. If this were true, it would be despicable to charge for a life-or-death tool. FOREST FIRE map overlays and warnings should be separate from weather and free. And, yes, I realize that much of the areas that this app is used for have no reception, but some do, and it would be quite useful for planning.

  45. Tim Rod-avatar

This app is a love hate relationship. I love how it avoids the main roads and keeps me on dirt tracks away from cars. Hate that it doesn't take me on the most efficient way even when it's possible and shown on the map also set at highest fitness level. What really annoyed me about this app is when I cycled 50km to see a friend in London and wanted to go back home it didn't let me unless I payed a subscription. 👏👏👏

  46. Бранко Пејић-avatar

I had a bundle coupon which i couldn't use. It's so frustrating finding and selecting region so my 9€ coupon was wasted. I've lost half an hour trying and at the end just give up. Your shop is only offering smaller regions that costs 4€ which I can't buy with 9€ coupon. Huge waste of time and nerves. On top of it, app doesn't have option for keeping screen on all the time. On the positive side, service can be useful.

  47. Alison Cheung-avatar

    Alison Cheung

Used this app for 5 times in total, and went on 3 different routes. All of these times had problems, including incorrect navigation - keep right instead of turn right, asking me to make turns where there were no paths ahead. These are still marginally acceptable, but leading me to a dual carriageway is just ridiculous! I had to find a way back home with a significant detour. Im uninstalling this app! Absolutely atrocious!

  48. Phil Waecker-avatar

    Phil Waecker

Finds paths I never would have found but not good one needs less information via voice navigation. I need a 'turn left' info not the whole street name. Far too much detail. And as already mentioned one needs to be able to choose the voice language! Not the phone... My phone is set to English and I can't select another language. Another point: why can I not change the average speed? Bike's are stuck to a low average speed but with an electric bike . We have to be able to change it!

As someone who enjoys hikes and exploring new areas but is directionally challenged (😅) this app has been a revelation! I love being able to plan routes on paths and bridal ways (rather than roads which Google maps mostly uses); finding other people's recommendations for great places and routes; and being able to EASILY follow the route using GPS as I go (see earlier "directionally challenged"). It's opened up so many places to me and gets me excited to find new spots 😊 Highly recommend.

  50. Michael Lund Pedersen-avatar

Installed and purchased the world map. The app continues to be intrusive asking me to review, ask if I would recommend to friends and so on. Worst thing is, that I cannot close these pop-ups as clicking at the cross to close does nothing. Sending feedback doesn't work either as pushing the send button results in nothing. Hate when app developers doesn't allow me to use the app I installed (and paid for) without pushing for feedback. This just result in a bad experience and review to reflect

Exactly what I was looking for. An app that records but also navigates as well. None of the others seem to have the same functionality. I've now got something equivalent to a 300 quid Garmin on my 3 year old J5

  52. Emil Floman-avatar

Routing for road bikes is great, but the navigation screen is a bit hard to follow while riding and I'm unable to bookmark frequent places. I would also like to use the app mainly for routing and navigation, and sometimes skip saving my rides since I already use a sports tracker, but exiting navigation mode requires around 5 steps, which is a pain when riding.

Komoot is my way to go when planning hiking/biking trip. Both for long and short journeys, it has never let me down: I've make an 800 km from Berlin to Basel, using solely this app for the route planning. The results? 10/10! I hope it will implement a "street view" feature in the future :)

Great for planning and finding alternative routes away from main roads. Bit of an issue with elevation at times (Sussex is the area, where I'm having problems), where it will state you have a descent but its actually a short climb, or the elevation stated does not match the actual gradient. However, thoroughly enjoyable app.

App good only and only for it's maps. Almost everywhere you click - you need to pay some insane money for premium version. If you are cycling gravel or MTB, routes this app tells you are impossible to drive on. Also some stats that were visible during recording are not visible once you finish (like speed).

  56. Tezzy Murphy-avatar

    Tezzy Murphy

Keeps on asking for premium charge of 19.99 . You guys are off your heads . Seriously . The app layout is t the best and navigations not good for browsing . Uninstalled and somehow can't delete my account . No way if deactivating it anywhere to be found .

  57. Behind The White Door-avatar

    Behind The White Door

Excellent app. Was looking for an app that had real-time GPS navigation whilst on a route. Have now found it. Great selection of walks - just done one today that we never knew existed, even though we know the particular area well. Pricing to "unlock the world" is also very reasonable.

  58. Bassam Atallah-avatar

    Bassam Atallah

Does a wonderful job of planning routes and adding way points. Major gripes are, -it doesn't distinguish between gravel and sand. Makes a big difference can get yourself quite stuck on a bike. -it isn't obvious how to update information like this as a user -in navigation mode it seems? one looses all altitude and terrain info it seems AND it is confusing to navigate in and out of navigation mode to find the info More minor, the navigation directions are only in english and a bit clunky

  59. saman lamsal-avatar

Hi . Everything is fine but sometimes the location doesnot work in the middle of the ride. But strava never does that. Even when the battery optimization is turned off.

  60. Luis G. Gonzalez M.-avatar

    Luis G. Gonzalez M.

Great for navigation but drain the battery so quick. Why this happens?

  61. metalmonster1981-avatar

Great little app. Allows you to easily select routes and sights and tailor them to your abilities. Only minor downside is some sections need updating as bits permanently closed off and some places are a bit dodgy to walk on (busy roads). Easy to work around though. Reccommended.

  62. Hinne Männchen-avatar

    Hinne Männchen

Little detail in maps (you need premium to change that). Location in nature often 20 to 50 metres off, in the woods you need to walk far to know which track you are on. After I bought the "world" package, I now get the spoken directions in an unpleasant hard-to-understand English dialect (Indian?)

  63. Abbi Sutton-avatar

    Abbi Sutton

Just downloaded app. So far it seems good. I was thinking you could get a lot more people to use the add if you added a horseback option for things you like to do. Hope you really consider it!! I would definitely give 5 stars if you added the horseback option!

I've been using Google maps and Green chain walk map since the beginning of the lockdown. I installed Komoot yesterday to go from Sevenoaks to Chislehurst and wow, just wow!!! I would never have planned this so well myself, I walked past a barley field, a cabbage field, an asparagus field, a lavender field, a hop field, a strawberry farm, part of the way was Darvent valley walk and I could really see that the boring parts of the way have been reduced to a minimum. Definitely recommend!

  67. Bonne Knibbe-avatar

    Bonne Knibbe

Nicest navigation app around for cycling adventures, both on and offline, on and off road, for one day or weeks. Best money ever spent on an app. Some things don't work as smooth as i wished it did but the overall functionality is great and i have confidence the Komoot team will continue improving this app

  68. Pratik Panchal-avatar

    Pratik Panchal

Very good app for hiking and cycling. Planning interface is better than strava. One thing to improve would be integration with smart watches (i have samsung gear3). The i would have all the information in one place. Keep up the good work guys

  69. Sangi S-avatar

    Sangi S

Giving it a 4/5 because there are no options for disabled cyclists and the navigation can be stubborn and not as smooth as others. Other than that I quite love this app and it's my Nr. 1 go to cycling app. Love the highlights and navigation features the most.

  70. Florian Mueller-avatar

Excellent app and user experience so far - I really like the embedded suggestions for tours nearby. GPS works perfectly. I will update my assessment as I continue using the app.

I decided to pay the one off £25 fee to unlock the world and tbh Im glad I did. The app navigates really well and knows all my local cycle paths. Plus I can use it on my smart watch for directions.

  72. Jake Doran-hughes-avatar

    Jake Doran-hughes

Horrible app. Never again. Apparently you need to pay for it to work, then why offer a free version that doesn't work so people hate it. For 10 miles it shouted at me to make a u turn on a path I knew was right. I've walked and rode it many times. Waste of data time and battery downloading it.

  73. Lauren-avatar

Best app I have on my phone. Can plan a route using their map and easily follow it also recording kilometers and elevation gains along with time. I've planned a couple routes along the footpaths shown on the map. Can't do that with any other app I've tried. Easy to use also.

  74. Michael Kunzmann-avatar

    Michael Kunzmann

The app is easy to use but in practically very useless for me as a mountain biker. Pretty much none of my trails exist in the app and there is no possibility to draw them myself or just simple direct waypoints.

  75. Leigh Ingram-avatar

    Leigh Ingram

In general really enjoy the app. Used only in the UK however I'm noticing some footpaths that have changed, or permissive paths not showing on the map. Would be interested to understand how often the maps are updated.

  76. Kai Döhler-avatar

    Kai Döhler

Only usable with map in sight. Navigation by wear OS app or audio messages is a total fail. Very frustrating. It's usable with the map in front of you. Since I made the mistake of purchasing the world pack, I'll probably get a phone case for my handle bar to get so worth of my money. Totally regret buying.
