It seems my previous review was removed. The GPS is not accurate and this app doesn't let you to set the location access to "Allow all the time". Why do I need to change my phone battery setting in order to make this app work? The tracking apps worked like a charm 5 years ago. What happened since then? Endomondo is not working anymore and there is no alternative.

I am revising my comments after using for 2 months now. This is an OK running app that could be a lot better. The route mapping function is pretty weak. My building has a long drive way that the mapping doesn't captured. There is also a foot bridge that I cross on my run that isn't captured. The mapping automatically sends me on the wrong route. In addition, Strava should have 2 features offered by the competition: 1.) add summary screen to the lock screen so you don't have to fiddle with your phone while you are running; and 2.) add ability to sync with Spotify running music channels.

  3. Billsvolvo-avatar

Revised rating. Formerly struggled getting the app to stay on during long runs or rides. Now corrected. Still irritated that the mobile android version is so different from the desktop version. Inconsistency is stupid. Would like to see mile markers appear on the map after I finish a run or ride. Lots of little things asked for over the years that never get done. Not a very responsive developer.

  4. Gary Metcalfe-avatar

    Gary Metcalfe

Used to be better, all the best features are now hidden behind a pay wall. You can't see how far you've ran over a duration such as a week, month or a year any more, as well as other lost features, but you can just do this manually. The problem that I've started having is that the tracking is incredibly buggy. It'll tell me I've done 40km in 30 mins. It's a shame that greed has ruined this app really, I'd have used it with ads but not with a subscription service. I'd say avoid if possible.

Keeps on switching to the following homepage rather than staying on the cycle. Have tried reinstalling numerous times but no change. The app has become useless as a reliable activity, so I will though I've been a subscriber since the star, sadly the time has come to end. I would like a refund on the last 2 months were four where y I haven't had a ride workk fully.

Sorry Strava. I've been givev a Strava subscription and have been very disappointed with your current offering. What we had for free a couple of years ago was a more useful product to a casual cyclist than the current paid version. I want an all in my phone app without having to use a bike computer. Ant is essential. I do however like the Route Planner. Easy to use but could be improved with a better source map.

  7. Jessica-avatar

Used this almost a year had no complaints until recently and it was enough to drop my rating. It no longer records my walks, says it has acquired a GPS signal looks all good, but when I finish I get a message that says it has experienced a problem and has recovered the data. There is no data there says I went 0 distance, etc. Sometimes it has kept the time, sometimes not. That isn't the worst of it, I can't get the app to stop recording. I have to go into phone settings and force stop the app.

After two years of hiatus, came back to log in to Strava only to find out that my outstanding problem is still there. The tec support guy said to just wait and itll come back..eveeytime I log in I always get an error mesg that says "there was an error verifying your acct data".Im based in China so most of my activities are in the mainland Chn. But when i used it inthe Philippines and back again in China that error started to occur. Not sure if changing regions was the culprit.

  9. Peter Langford-avatar

    Peter Langford

Love this app, it's like a stealth personal trainer for me and definitely helps keep me motivated, competing against my friends, recording my miles and times and joining challenges. The free parts do most of what I want so I haven't paid yet. Sometimes craps out on walks but I'm more concerned with my rides and it synchs with my Garmin via the Connect app fine.

  10. Randall Andrade-avatar

    Randall Andrade

I got Strava around 2011 and it was a great app. Lately, it screws up every time. It either puts my route where I didn't go, puts my speed faster than the speed of sound and I was standing still (really?!), loses signal, or even loses the entire event. I put in trouble tickets and have heard nothing. It used to be a great app but not anymore. No stars rating!

  11. Lauren Baker-avatar

    Lauren Baker

When I first started using Strava I was impressed + liked how people can encourage each other. It was helpful to see my progress. After a few weeks it's become less and less accurate. First missing out small parts of my run in distance or time, but now it's missing out huge chunks. Today a 37 minute run recorded as only 3 minutes moving time. Looks like I've recorded a run to the end of the street! I can no longer use it to see progress so it's pointless. Will look elsewhere now.

  12. Alex-avatar

Great app when you have the Pro subscription, if not, the functionality is limited. But, as someone who uses it quite a lot and tracks all activities with it, the yearly subscription is worth it. If a few of the paid features were free, I'd have given 5 stars.

  13. Sunil Kumar-avatar

    Sunil Kumar

The actual path which I cycle is incorrect. GPS sometimes stops to work and starts only when I open the app, so it makes a straight line from the point it stopped working. So the number of kilometres is less than what you have cycled. Please fix this issue ASAP, otherwise I need to switch to some other app.

  14. Peter Tomlinson-avatar

    Peter Tomlinson

Don't bother if you want an accurate distance recorded. Strava fails to plot the route that I've run properly meaning the distance recorded is usually 10% more than actual distance that I ran making it completely useless. Even my fake Fitbit which uses the same phone GPS as Strava can plot the distance I run accurately. Also Strava now emails me every time I sign up to a challenge despite all these options being unticked on my account. This is not only very annoying but also breaches GDPR

  15. Sleek Lemur Cherrett-avatar

    Sleek Lemur Cherrett

Good app, but whilst it is helpful to be positive and encouraging, it is perhaps not helpful to encourage members to improve their performance over regular circuits every day. Also, I question much of the accuracy and integrity of the data. For example I was told "congratulations for maintaining your effort". The calculations seem to be rather simplistic and perhaps dangerous for inexperienced users. All that said, it is a marvelous way of maintaining your exercise data and swing friends' stuff.

  16. Angelo Santos-avatar

    Angelo Santos

Good but could be better. There's lingering issues with posting and editing your rides (including photos). For example, when I edit a text from a previous entry, all the photos get deleted in the process. This is why I was prompted to give this app a review. Also, I wish there's KM markers for tracking. Is that available on the paid version?

  17. Trudy Wood-avatar

    Trudy Wood

DO NOT TRIAL PREMIUM - APP GOES THROUGH CANCELLATION PROCESS BYT THEN DOESNT ACTUALLY CANCEL AND YOU'RE CHARGED FOR THE YEAR! I have tried for a second time to cancel this membership and added a message explaining what happened, so I will update this review is they respond appropriately. I didn't end up using strava premium due to lack of routes uploaded in my area. Thought it would give me new bush runs to try but it didn't, maybe due to remote rural location.

  18. Jonathan Chesnay-avatar

    Jonathan Chesnay

Good app for tracking your exercises (cycle, run, walk, sports...) the GPS Location is accurate. Change units, connect with friends and community is easy. Love the challenges. To improve : 1) To be able to change type of activity at the middle of a record instead of finishing the record and start a new one while I am walking, then cycling the. Walking for example. 2) to be able to plan your route like with "Map my Run" and then display. Avoiding to have 2 apps open and so battery loss.

  19. Steven Goodwin-avatar

I have the upgraded Strava that is $5 (US) a month, so I can continue to compare my times to other wannabes and real athletes alike. I enjoy many of the features Strava offers, especially the training charts. Another impressive feature is the route creator. Fairly simple to use with updated on or off road maps (my area anyways). I wouldn't hesitate to use this social fitness app (free or pay version)!

  20. Chris Barnes-avatar

    Chris Barnes

The GPS has been struggling recently (last year no issues) and not recording distance and routes properly. this is across multiple devices and Strava support just offers what is already written online... Frustrating as I shelled out for the premium service. Other aspects of services are excellent but lots of things are hidden away on the app and not easy to find.

  21. Thomas McEldowney-avatar

it just works and it isnt needy. Its sad that the bar for what makes a good app is so low, but few apps make it. Strava does though. i dont use many of the features, strava doesnt hassle me to use them. I pay for premium not for the features but to support a good app and a good social network.

  22. Nicky Dobra-avatar

This App is great for tracking progress and training plans. Paying for the pro membership gives you lots of features. However, some of these features used to be free with the basic membership, hence why I have given it 4 stars.

  23. Chris Black-avatar

    Chris Black

It looks like a good app but I never really got a chance to try it out. I was looking for an app that would allow me to transfer information to my phone via Ant+ (an old Garmin foot pod). It seems this app will do it but only with a bridge device. As I have no need for the bridge device (my phone already has Ant+) not the right app for my purposes. The developer may reconsider making the app Ant+ compatible. It is standard on more and more phones. Think of us people in fridgid climates ;).

I have had trouble with my data. My starting point is off sometimes. Many times it looks like I started from a location that I have never been to. This is quite worrysome. Also, I would like to know more about insuring the security of the app on my android. Tutorials for the app and security would be great. Altogether it is a great tool.

15 Feb, 2021, seems to be working now with upgrade, let's see. MC. Missing live data, not syncing with Google Fit, stalls on bike ride doesn't catch up on data, walk app is audio announced as a run, not walk, wrote to support very poor reply from Zendesk. Once fixed will consider purchase.

  26. Guy Rossler-avatar

It records activity, syncs with Polar and Concept 2. But cannot add distances to indoor workouts like elliptical where distance is recorded on the training kit. Have to add a separate distance record. And that can't be done from the app as get a server error. Have only been able to manually add using web browser on PC. Bring able to sync indoor rower is cool though. Just a shame Strava let themselves down in other ways.

  27. The Catt-avatar

I've been using Strava for many years, and paid for the premium subscription. I primarily use Strava for tracking my progress and training in virtual worlds (Zwift). Recently Strava removed almost all useful data for Zwift, making the app worthless. This means that after several years of consistent use, I can no longer use Strava for performance training and checking my history and activities because all of the relevant segment data has been removed. STRAVA DELETED MY DATA, and that of thousands of users.

I have updated app on one plaus Android 10 is nott behaving properly. Pause and stop button not working .During ride my autp pause option was selected but when i tried to pause it manually its not working. Its fruatating when it happens during ride or run. Now i am testing app at home and i am not able stop the activity.

Really like the challenges available but the app is very inaccurate. Did a 32 min walk, 1.3 miles per my tracker, once synced in Stava it says 27 min and 0.2 miles. I submitted a ticket and the initial response was prompt requesting screenshots of activities. Once submitted have heard nothing.

  30. olivier meirhaeghe-avatar

    olivier meirhaeghe

I have been subscribing to strava for over three years, it has been great but the latest change which basically deleted 3 years of zwift segment data was not welcome. I pay strava premium for tracking these segments, and strava decides to make all zwift segment private, and delete all my history since 2017. Will not be renewing , as what I paid for was removed!

  31. Chris Reyes-avatar

    Chris Reyes

Basically the only "social media" I use. I track all my workouts out my Garmin watch which syncs directly with strava. There I can see everything from running to yoga to even paddle boarding. My favorite feature is probably the route building which let's you build routes manually or even automatically by preferentially choosing the most traveled roads/trails. Leaderboards and kudos are also great ways to motivate you to get outside and do work

I have been using Strava since 3 months now. Its a veey good app for cycling and all other activities. But i did encounter recording problem many a times. The app did not record a part of my ride despite the GPS and Internet being on. Please fix this as soon as possible.

  33. Sergio Almeida-avatar

Use mainly as a backup from Sports Tracker/Suunto. Too many "premium" stuff that other apps provide for free. Tip: place a map with railway lines. Don't know why your map exclude rails. They are part of the landscape, good for orientation and perfect for emergencies especially for biking

  34. Greg Cobb-avatar

    Greg Cobb

A very friendly U/I, great interactive options with the challenges, and its free. I enjoy pacing call outs on the runs. Join a challenge allows you get a push eventhough you are not working out with anyone. Finally works well with my S3 smartwatch, try the app it won't disappoint.

  35. xxCaphxx-avatar

Not for runners. They have a "segment" thing for cyclists but have carried it over to running which is useless to runners. You can't see your fastest 1K/1 mile/2K/3K/5K/5 mile/10K/etc time for each run which is a basic requirement for runners to track their progress building up to a race. They have only just in 2020 got their app working with Bluetooth heart straps, that's how behind they are. Runners, look for another app.

  36. jano fourie-avatar

    jano fourie

Works great! One suggestion would be if each person's individual heart rate zones could also be shown on the Heart Rate graph, so if you wanted to do a Zone 2 steady ride for example you can easily check on the graph where exactly you went too hard or too slow.

  37. Lou Heisel-avatar

    Lou Heisel

Everything went smoothly for the first use of this app. But when I switched phone to Vivo from Asus, the time and distance tracking are frequently stopping during the progress. For instance, I apply 2 apps, one records 50 km and strava only records 25 km. That really ruins the achievement. Needs this to be followed up ASAP. 🙏🏼

  38. Lucy McLoughlin-avatar

    Lucy McLoughlin

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I've tried to track 3 walks so far and it hasn't correctly tracked a single one yet. It will either cut half the journey out, or stop recording not even half way through the journey. I know for a fact the route I walk is at least 5k and takes 30/40 minutes to walk, yet today's recording claimed I was walking for a mere 3 minutes and didn't even do 1k. Awful app, insanely disappointed so hoping the Under Armour app will be better.

  39. caroline wharton-avatar

    caroline wharton

Nice and clear visually, cleanly set out and easy to use. I like it a lot, BUT the maps need improvement, somehow the terrain is shown less clearly than it used to be, and railway lines don't show which is confusing.

  40. Cameron Gocke-avatar

    Cameron Gocke

It's pretty good and I like it. I do pay for the premium. There are several nobvious features though that aren't implemented like route navigation. Also seemingly arbitrary things missing from mobile that are online like fatigue metrics.

  41. Jeff Skinner-avatar

    Jeff Skinner

Works well for tracking running activities. I've used it with fitbit charge 3 and Garmin Forerunner 225. Having a GPS tracker is the preferred way to use so you don't need to bring your phone with you.

  42. Alec Erickson-avatar

    Alec Erickson

Last two runs I have runed that have been sagments haven't shown up in my run. When I am walking and I stop then start up again says that I'm running. Also few UI improvements I would remove from the feed is clubs and find friends . I also like the new UI on the profile I would just move the pictures a little down .

  43. Faith-avatar

I'm a premium user and the app often crashes with a "server error" when I try to view my profile or training tab. I have to reload the app. I have issues trying to sync activities with others that didn't record - again, it gets a server error. Very poor in comparison to the website which is quite smooth.

  44. Nathanael Cassidy-avatar

Great app, however I think skateboarding should be added. I board a lot, so that'd be super helpful to add. Well layed out, though, and I like the extensiveness of the activities you can record. 👍

  45. Rami-avatar

Importing activities into this app is a total nightmare. Any attempt to upload activities and you end up with an endless list of spam like 0 mile "walks" and single activities broken down to 10 different pieces. Surly who ever wrote this code never bothered to test it

  46. Rachel811-avatar

I've been logging all my activities (walking, hiking, etc), but they don't show up on the profile unless it's a run/swim /bike. Why even have walk and hike as an option if you can't view them easily? Waste of time and now I can't see my mileage on the profile page.

  47. Samuel Bachmann-avatar

Would be nice if you could add some more contrast to the streets in the navigation mode. Othewise the streets are really hard to see, which makes it more difficult to get the correct street at the junction.

Like it but 1 improvement. When I download the app and sign in with e-mail, automatically my Gmail is prefilled. When I change this, as in my case it's differently, when typing my password, the screen gets reloaded with my Gmail initially filled. Kind of a bug in my opinion.

  49. John Sanders-avatar

Good when it works, but more and more it fails to record the details of the trip, which is very dissapointing. I am only a casual user, but may have to switch to an alternative app., if it doesn't improve.

Good but no impressed. The GPS is not accurate. I used a different app to track my running at the same time and that's how I saw the GPS in not accurate. Is showing like I did cross the road when I'm running on the same side of the road.

It's fine, well functioning, lots of good motivational stats, lots of meh stats AND still can't see ANY running distance history; you wanna see how you're improving your 5k/10k? Well nope, you can't, which seems like an easy fix. Social aspect good.

Seems to be causing issues in Fitbit app. Heart rate disappears for the rest of the day after logging an activity with Strava. Why does the app not report heart rate for walks, only for run and bike? Disappointing.

Would give 5*s but not enough on there for the beginner athletes. How about some trophies n smaller achievable goals to get people starting out motivated n you don't even get a pat on the back for a walk and let's not forget the expensive subscription fees

I really enjoyed Strava up until the time you stopped revealing the age of your members. What happened to the age group statistics or even allowing to see ones age? Was this some kind of privacy policy? I'm in the 65-69 age group and I reveled in seeing my ability to compete with my younger competitors. What is the chances of restoring this data?

Excellent app, poor integration with Google fit. Can't get calories, routes and most other details to sync. Makes it hard to keep track of activities which strava doesn't support.

Like the challenges and ease if use. The routes should probably differentiate between bike routes and pedestrian routes. Always double check that they aren't steering you to a busy road with no sidewalks to escape traffic

Good app and easy to use. Have a dedicated app for your sporting group and get involved in wider community competitions. I have the standard package but still allows you to have accurate distance and time data, with the option to add heart rate with a smart watch etc.

Looooove. Bonus if you have a Garmin - auto syncs. My most used social media and all my running/mountain friends use it. Have had many conversations about it especially when you see how ppl are doing on their training lol . If it's not on strava, did it even happen?

This is a good app, but it's a cocovaony of orange lines when you look back on your run. Most people tend to end up back where they started when they go on a run. Would be nice to have some different colour for the beginning and return.

When the owners decideded to get political they destroyed this app for me. I was paying, gladly, for the subscription service for 4 years, no longer. They totally ruined the experience now. Strava was a place to get away from politics and other BS, and just be happy about workouts. Now apparently you need to agree with app owners political opinion now.

I doesn't record any static activity (like treadmill runs), even with the Android Wear app installed on my watch. Steps, distance, time, heart rate, etc. are all almost zero. The integration with Google Fit is "write only" so I can't even get the data from FIt to add it to Strava. Theprivacy settings are "everyone can see everything" by default, which is not great. They can be tweaked, but some of them are not entirely clear (for example, if I set "Activities: Only you" does it get recorded in by groups? I don't know). There is no way to share some of the data (for example activity type and distance or time, but not the map, unless I define specific "privacy zones")

This app started out great, but then they took away support for ReLive (which I used to post my routes and times to facebook in a good looking format). Since then, the app randomly loses track of my rides so there are big "holes" where it didn't track. And now, the owners of Strava have decided that they are not just a workout app, but must force their political opinions on us. This is unacceptable regardless of what side the opinion is on. I installed this to have a tracker, NOT to hear political opinions. My entire family and recumbent network has had this app for years. We are all uninstalling now because of this.

Used to be great, When this first started out it was great out of the box. Losing heartrate data for free users just made this worthless. I understand strava needs funds to operate, but it's such a basic feature. Might as well make the whole thing a paid app at this point. I'd pay MAYBE 1$ a month to not have my fitbit HR data deleted but no more. None of the premium features are worth it to me. At the very least, Strava could make an HR sensor we can use out of the box and subscription free.

I reached a plateau in Mountain training (no pun intended) - so to be able to virtually compete with other athletes makes this app worth its weight in gold. I am able to analyze my data, my efforts in the past and see how I've improved. It breaks down splits, HR, and side by side comparison with those who have come before. Other review say the screen must always be active. I did not experience that. App runs in the background. Can record even in remote canyon areas then uploads with accuracy.

For recording your cycling stats, this is ace. For walking/hiking - not so much. Disappointing that you can't switch out the run & swim sections on your profile for walking instead. For those of us who can't run (for medical reasons) its a bit prejudiced to not enable this as even an option. It would be such an easy fix and make this app more accessible for all. Prioritising only cycle/swim/run makes it seem like they have more value than any other activities - which is not the case.
