Strava depends on GPS for recording activities. In some devices, the GPS does not work properly and Strava will not record effectively. If your Strava recordings show poor location estimation behaviour, please try to update the operating system to the most recent version. There are some devices which have consistently poor performance with no known remedies. On these devices, we restrict installation of Strava, for example the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 and the Galaxy Express 2.

Reviews From google play store

Honestly love this app so much. However, on my last handful of runs the location tracker has glitched a little and registered me in places I'm not. They're very close to my actual route, but it's enough that it's adding on distance that I'm not running, and in turn, is affecting my pace and PR stats. Like I said, I'm really enjoying that app, but it'd be great if there was some way to fix this issue.

*** I would strongly suggest putting Elapsed Time for each activity on the main Feed page *** Why show Distance and Elevation, but have to go into each individual ride to see the Time? As you scroll through the Feed of the same ride on different days, you should be able to compare times at a glance, right? If there's a setting for this please let me know, I couldn't find it. Otherwise, I would think it's a few lines of code? Thanks for an otherwise near perfect app.

Recent changes made me change my opinion about the app. The core service is still good, but there are trends that make me question if I want to continue using it. They removed support for ANT+ sensors, so now you have to invent a new workflow, involving more devices, or different applications: this is clearly a step 10 years back in time. Recent UX changes are for the worse as well. (How frequent it is you want to discard an hour long workout? If this happens, you can always delete it later.)

Last ride Strava stopped recrding my ride halfway through the ride. As soon as I finished and went to post my ride I saw the note pop up saying, "Strava recovered from an error". I have no idea why it stopped when it did. Other than this happening once in a while I really like the app. It has helped me get healthy and stay healthy!

Great app, just a few issues. First off, I really enjoy looking at the milage/distance/time graph graph on peoples profile pages that shows your progress over the last 12(?) weeks. But why can you not see your own graph?? Also, give the app all the featured the web version has-I want to see cadence, grade adjusted pace, and manual watch splits/workout analysis stuff, etc. without having to log in on my browser. Also you can't edit activities and add gear like you can on the web version either.

The running app I need has to have basically two functions - measure time and measure distance. Strava is not good at either. In the last months the way they rework the data from the GPS changed (probably) and now the deviation from reality is sometimes more than 10% - well, there is a difference where you run 4 mins/km or 4:24 mins/km. This measurement is quite unreliable. And no, it does not come from the GPS of the device - i used Runtastic as well for tracking the same runs...

I can't find a way to update my email address on Strava. Also my old Motorola phone had a GPS " week number rollover" issue..the Strava logs were there but dated March 2000, not 3rd Nov 2019. Not a Strava fault, but would have been good to be able to correct the date in Strava. Other than that, it's a great way of recording runs to save the GPX and other info.

It's a pretty reliable app except for a minor problem, and I only got this as it connects to 42Race, but whenever I'm running (with both data and GPS on at all times), it would sometimes just stop and not track anything ): My daily 5km runs has only 3km tracked as it kept getting interrupted ): Hopefully this gets fixed or I might have to switch to other apps ):

As of this month they no longer support using sensors with the app so there is literally no reason to pay for their service and very little incentive to use the free version. This along with several bugs and feature requests that would be trivial to fix/implement and have been requested for years. Do not waste your time or money with this app or service.

Since the latest update and using the desktop widget, how you select which type of activity you have just completed has become a clumsy and somewhat arcane procedure. You are presented with only two options: Save or Discard. To change the activity from e.g. Cycling to Hiking you need to hit the back button to dismiss this menu, then tap the 'cycling' icon to change the activity, then hit 'finish' before finally getting back to the original two option menu. If you fail to do this you will need to go back and edit the activity which is even more of a PITA. I believe this could all be sorted by simply adding a third Change Activity option to that two option menu. Please do it Strava!!

Stop screwing with the app! I just want to record runs and view my progress without it trying to push another social media platform on me! Bombarded with ads and community nonsense that I don't want to see. Also how hard can it be to have a chronological feature so I see most recent entries first!? Dividing up the app so useful features have to individually be bought.. another cash grab. Think I'll go back to MapMyRun. Lastly and most annoying, why aren't ANY HR straps compatible with your app!?

I liked this app a lot. Would have given it 5 stars but it does not work directly with my wahoo hr monitor anymore. I have to use the wahoo app to upload it to strava. Wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact I upgraded to strava premium for the beacon feature. This means if I want to use the beacon feature AND have my heart rate measured, I have to run 2 apps at the same time. This drains my battery big time. They better fix the bluetooth/ant+ connections or they're gonna lose lots of money!

The app still needs work. You can't connect a HR sensor / cadence sensor ect, unacceptable for a paid app. A lot of features that should be on the app are only available on the desktop version. Still the best app I've used to store and view my ride/run/and everything else (any activity you can imagine) data. The segments are crucial to this app and it's the only one of its kind that uses them.

The app used to be great. Then they removed ant+ heart rate monitor support. Now how does this make sense strava? I pay for summit to track my fitness based on heart rate, which you no longer support monitoring with your app. Sure I can get a third party app that does that. But if I do, whats the point of paying you for summit? Don't waste your time with strava. Plenty of others out there offering similar services.

I had to come back and edit my five-star review down to a two-star review after their latest update. Ever since this change, the stat accuracy has fallen off a cliff. Sometimes it'll tell me I'm only doing 1 MPH for miles at a time when I know this is simply not the case (I'm often going the same speed as the cars on the road). I dont know what Strava did with the update, but they seem to have ruined a perfectly fine app with this latest update.

Sorry guys, not having Bluetooth integration with a heart rate band is the minimum basic and the best way to reliably record heart rate data (optical sensors are a joke and you know that). It's like unbelievable that i need to use another app in order to be able to simply record my data. I'm canceling my subscription. Think about that. Basic stuff.

Before the update the phone application (Galaxy S9+) was showing dual heart rate monitor and every training session contained this information. After the update this information is no longer available. Can you explain this to me? I just don't understand it. What is the point of HRM if you eliminate it from the application. Who is doing this updates? Do people who construct the updates use these devices? Do they know what they are doing?

This app is great, when it works. Lately I receive an error message every time I try to record a ride, and I have been forced to use another activity tracker app. Despite this I still like the social aspect of Strava, and have been manually entering my rides to keep track of my overall progress.

After being a paid member for two years they decided to drop heart rate support, so naturally I quit my payed subscription. And lo and behold, now about 10% of all uploads get corrupted with either the wrong distance or just the whole run disappears and you lose the data of your run for good. Went from good to absolute worst real quick. I'll leave Strava now for good.

I rate the strava app the lowest possible as they removed basic and essential functionality namely support for heart rate monitors (and other sensors). Supposedly they were causing crashes for millions of users, but except strava no one seems to have heart of this and any respectable software company would fix the bug anyway. People wanting to use heart rate and other sensors shall use other apps for recording according to strava so to me it seems they consider their app obsolete themselves.

I really rate this app for running. It's accurate and I like being able to see my splits etc despite not being a premium member. I do think though the addition a section where you can see your personal records and your distance run for the month and a running total for the year would be ace!!

The app is a great way to track your exercise both time and mileage. Also using the website you can set up what gear like bikes or running shoes to keep track of miles as soon as your done with your exercise. I love the route builder on the website. Great way to plan a ride out and get a general idea of what the mileage and elevation are.

Recently when I do a ride it tracks the route accurately but when I finish and upload the ride the route I took and distance Is completely off. The route line is straight and jumps from point to point and today it left out half of my ride even though I checked it was recorded during my ride and after. It only disappeared when I uploaded it. My route Is also not registered segments I have completed. I app running the app on a Samsung galaxy S4 and android 5.0.1 I hope you can fix this. Thanks

Ok, so my last review wasn't as positive, but after I got this working properly working I use it all the time now. It took a lot of research to find out how to make this application not crash. I had done everything I can reasonably think of including factory reset, ensuring that I don't have battery saver on. I've got a phone with 3G, and am running Android 7 on it. I bought it less than a year ago. I don't have problems with other applications crashing all the time. Sigh

Such a buggy App, really disappointing. I conntected my Garmin Fenix 5 Plus with the app to automatically upload my activities but everytime I complete one it show just half of the distance or less on Strava. Within the Garmin App it records everything correctly. In the meanwhile I cut the connection & set it up again several time. Result: Still showing much less on strava than it was. :-( #poor

No Bluetooth ... why Mr Strava?? Why?? No need to pay for the premium service anymore if I need to use other apps to record my heart rate. You've built up a huge customer base and then strip away one of the key features of your app .. not the greatest business decision. Would love to see the P&L after this mistake.

Not the most accurate. When I ride with other people we all get different distance statistics. It's not just tenths of a mile; sometimes it's a few miles difference even though we are all riding together as a group. Also it doesn't always map my route that I've done around where I live. And today it recorded my max speed at 50!...I wish lol

If it wasn't free, no one would use it. No strsva backup when things stop working - just a stupid auto response feedback - that doesn't do anything. I am not the only one having issues either - all this has happened since last "update" since then i have uninstalled and reinstalled twice- and it still won't sync and give me an actual realistic result - auto pause refuses to work- and it glitches every time i stop even at a traffic light... FIX IT PLEASE! !!!!!!!!!

Only removing 1 star because it's missing 1 critical feature that stops me using it as my go to riding app. it's missing current live speed it only shows average speed which is useless information when on a ride. other than that missing feature that all other free apps have. Wahoo fitness for example, which is my go to. otherwise a great app but yes it does have some stability issues as it has crashed on me a few times loosing ride information, or providing massively inaccurate information. again it's not my go to app for Riding, it's just the app that i use to keep all my riding information in one shareable place. Update: Actually removing another star for not allowing you to change your Training week timetable. as currently it's set for Sunday to saturday, ( my training week is actually Saturday to Sunday, so it's always putting the final ride for my week as the first ride for the following week throwing my Km's out. ) Update: removing another Star as they have now removed the ability to sync external sensors. effectively forcing you to find another app for the in-ride data. thankfully i use and will continue to use Wahoo.

I was a big fan of Strava until they removed the ability to connect heart rate monitors. Much like removing the minute hand from a clock, this downgrade can only result in a lowly 1 star rating for removing an essential feature. If other apps can sync with Bluetooth devices, why does Strava claim that they cause it to crash. Sounds like a poor excuse to me.

The WORST app EVER! This app has the worst integration imaginable with the Galaxy Watch. It literally works maybe 1 in 5 times. When it does work the UX on the watch is the absolute worst. Too many options and the distance and time indicators could not be smaller. The phone app. Is literally a marketing platform dedicated to upselling users to buy their paid product. Avoid the whole experience if possible.

Better than the competition, I switched over from Map my run and I'm glad I did. Much better experience, way more accurate tracking. Map my run was not getting km updates correct. This app has a better community and segments are good. I have now gone for the paid plan as I'm enjoying the training plan.

Why would I pay for premium services when you can't when get the basic package right. Support seems to have been pulled for Samsung wearable devices. I would give no stars but that's not possible. Keeps saying location services are disabled when location is turned on.. The complete lack of any responses from Strava is telling. Their customer support is dead.

They ruined a good thing. For whatever reason, they decided that they wouldn't support external sensors anymore, like heart monitors. Since I have to use another app to record my data and then import it, he usefulness of this app just took a serious got. I just cancelled my yearly subscription.

I downloaded the app based on all the positive reviews and stared off my run expecting it to run smoothly. To my surprise it registered me running in zigzags along the road and at higher speed than I actually had. I wish I could post a screenshot of the route, it looked so funny.

Revising from 5 stars to 2 since Strava removed BT and ANT+ sensor connectivity at the end of Oct 2019 because they couldn't figure out how to make it work. The whole point of using the app was to get mapping and heart rate monitor data, and now they want you to go install the Wahoo app instead.

Great App, I am using this to train for a half marathon and it has been brilliant. I'd like to be able to see HR segments illustrated on the map but I think you have to pay for that through "Summit". Highly recommend over other fitness tracking apps.

The latest update is a disaster. You can't edit activities before uploading anymore, so you have to save the activity, then go back and edit the title, which bike you used, etc. And the new side-by-side save/delete buttons when uploading an activity are an accident waiting to happen. Please fix this mess!

Since the most recent update analysis and segments have stopped showing on my activities. Also if I pause during the workout there will be a pop up asking me to enable location, which has already been enabled. Prior to this I've had a great experience and the app has worked perfectly

Been using Strava for two years now and have grown to like all the apps features associated with my fitness routines. Amung all the other features I like, the kudos and new friends I have made keep me pushing myself to higher levels of fitness. Thank you for all your work on this app!

EDIT 11/18/2019 - Taking off another star because they still have made no attempt to add features like chat which users have been requesting for literally years. They don't even comment on the feature request threads! The gold standard. Just wish they were more responsive to feature requests from (paid!) users.

Love Strava. Use it for all of my runs, rides, walks, paddles, skis etc etc. Love being able to look back and see what I've done over the past month and year, being inspired by what my friends are doing through in the feed and the inventive to go fast for your own best time or your ranking.

Love this app if you have a separate heart rate monitor you can keep track activities and watch your health, performance improve. If you do purchase in a heart rate monitor do your research as I have found it difficult to connect it to the strava app itself. Google wear watches allow you to download strava to the Watch itself and log on to account amd send and heart rate data to Strava.

Not recording proper distance, time. Tried for almost a month, tried all steps to rectify mentioned at all places (google, this app etc) but no luck. Running 5 km and it is recording .01 km sometimes .06 sometimes .4 km. Really pathetic. Then installed runkeeper and it is recording correct.

They should really change few things. Why the f... Strava is not showing velocity in km/h? Why this is so hard to find one page with all my current distance records or when I'm comparing my profile with my colleagues Strava is not filling my best times because it doesn't like my LG G6?

Used to work very well past 6months, but with recent updates, it doesn't record accurately. The run shows all the distance while running, but once you finish and press finsih button to record, sections disappear. I have done all Huawei required fixes and still doesn't record accurately.

Decent app that can be used to track activities. Made more for endurance than weight training. Can also be social and have friends that complete similar activities provide feedback to your activities. Also, connects easily to other devices and apps, like Garmin, etc.

This app is so buggy! When my location is on and Strava has " Acquired GPS", it pops up "Set your location", and I have to cancel it 5-6 times before I actually can see my progress on screen. Very annoying when you're in the middle of your workout.

Once an app I couldn't do without, now something I am letting go. It's annoying to keep getting error msgs everytime I am recording an activity and it stops midway. Too bad. Strava gives me a resolution for this, I'll gladly reinstall and use this app. For now, I wish I could give it ZERO stars.

Why it keeps getting crashed in my one plus 6 ? After starting activity once few minutes are passed and then if I unlock the phone in the middle of the activity it always asks me to resume activity because strava faced some issue! This is really good app but this is frustrating !!

Ever since the latest update, the app crashes constantly when trying to record a ride ("Strava has recovered from an error and had resumed recording" or something like that). Except, it doesn't actually resume recording - it just logged nothing.

Although an excellent app I felt that I have been induced to install this app by SCSM (Singapore Marathon). Free 30 days trial only. 90% of what is analysed and given out as coaching by Strava tracker, I'm alreading getting and reading them from my Apple Series 5 watch and iPhone 11.

Great app for evaluating training data and socially interacting with other athletes/friends. The only reason I rated 4 out 5 instead of 5 out of 5 is because I think there could be some improvements to the GUI to make finding specific data easier to locate.

Want this to work so I can link my runs to friends and track etc but so glitchy, keep having problems where runs don't record properly. Now after updating & trying uninstalling and reinstalling it won't find my GPS at all so won't track any runs had to resort to downloading a different app.

cannot edit time and distance when watches run off battery during the run.. also I would appreciate manual sync with garmin app.. or at least resync again. Because after run I need to add comments and photos twice.. first in garmin app and then in strava because it is already synced without aditional info.

I love Strava and use it for all my platforms, past and present (currently Garmin, Peloton bike and Peloton digital). I would give it 5 stars if I could have the same run features for my power walks (detailed splits, weekly tracking, leaderboards, etc.). Otherwise, my go-to app for all things exercise.

Way too complex for the first time user. Was also forced to purchase year membership. Just wanted to try the free version to see if i liked it, though could not find that option. Then they continue to charge me the next year also.

Additional premium services provide helpful insights to prevent over training and get more information about performance. However, Bluetooth connection to heart rate monitors was recently discontinued which requires purchase of third party equipment.

This app was great until they got rid of support for bluetooth heartrate monitors. I will be canceling my subscription ASAP. I have a hard time understanding how an app for activity monitoring will not have the ability to show heartrate.

Used to be great, but now I can't connect my HRM because it's Bluetooth so now I have to have another app running as well so now not sure how long my battery will last. What f##king genius came up with that idea!!!

Great app but recently it now goes directly to save whenever you select stop at end of a ride. You then have to edit the ride to select commute, bike, etc. Why can't this be done before saving like it has always been done before?

Since last update, you have destroyed all the good work done before. The app don't record the activities, even the watch app does not work. Actually is a total useless app. Till you repair this, you deserve 1 star ( is impossible put 0)

App is good, but getting increasingly frustrated at the continuous pushing to get me to sign up for one of their paid packages. To start with I think they are too complicated and don't offer value for money. Please just let me be posting rides and runs and supporting others doing the same. I've said no once, don't keep asking.

It's ok when it works, but too often, your workout disappears at the end, after you hit "save." What is the point of recording, if you can't save all of your workouts? Frustrating.

Endomondo does it better... Underneath the sleek exterior, the app is full of oversights. Functionality with Polar watches is limited and basically useless, too. No consideration is put into the Android app at all

Ok I rushed to rate this on my sleep deprived state. I do like Strava. I emailed them and they refunded the payment for my subscription when I pointed out I cancelled before the free period ended. Well done Strava. Hopefully the 5 stars offsets my immature 1 star. Thanks Team

I love this app!!! By far the best in regards to analysis, synching with 3rd party hardware, segments, maps and community! I use this every day to track my runs, shoot even took it skydiving - I dont think there was a workout mode for that though.

Need to have the ability to adjust distances and time for runs. If it had this I would pay for it. Too many races on a measured 5K or half marathon where it came up as 3.02 miles or 13.03 miles and didn't count.

The current version of app gives very wrong information of my activity. Specially distance covered and pace. The location pointer moves to random point frequently out of course/ track. Last version of this app was little bit satisfactory.

Starting yesterday (11/11/2019) the app stop recording nearly halfway through my workout (but still showing that it was in progress). Then when syncing I lost many runtime. Pls investigate this urgently. Thanks.

Great for seeing real time distance, time per mile, and elapsed time. Also tracks progress for the month too and breaks it down onto individual exercises. Does more too for a small fee of less than five bucks

Update had made the application worst. Accuracy & location issues. Along with that, the app isn't tracking the activities like before. Loved this app before the update. Not now. Please find the solution ASAP.

After run, most of the times the distance travelled will be increased significantly and the map would also showed incorrect trail cause your info inaccurate. You can't show off your results to your friends anymore.

Cudos to accuracy of tracking but It stopped/paused the progress once the incoming call comes. Since I didn't pick the call, my activity is missed to resume the tracking.. It's bad, after cycling for 15 km n u see nothing but waste of gps n battery 😞

Love it, love how my rides convert over from Zwift as well. I only wish that there wasn't two steps to start recording, I have often accidentally not properly started it... But I still love it

Was a great app until they addressed the HRM bug (that i never experienced) by just deleting the feature and telling users to buy another device from their partner or use another app. I have cancelled my Summit subscription until they properly fix this bug and re-instate HRM support.

Great app. Great way to connect with other runners. Love the challenges. Just a bummer that alot of the running specific features are only for summit members and that that is so expensive.

GPS tracking varies greatly depending on what type of phone you use, resulting in frustrating training rides. Otherwise a useful app for tracking miles, but not for accurate timing.

Great App, i've using this for almost 3 years now and i liked it still, specialy the continues counting even your phone gets hanged when you turn it back on, you dont have to begin your activity again.

Excellent app for tracking accurate data for running. I have benefited a lot by running solo- with Strava as my reliable timing partner :-) In todays world, Atleast you have a friend (Read: Strava) whom you can trust blindly :-)

The GPS picks up quickly and accurately. The sense of community with friends and some strangers is part of why I love running, and this app does it virtually.

My camera causes Strava to malfunction. The GPS has started glitching recently when I stop during a ride (it looks like I get transported a half mile away and straight back in a matter of seconds).

Awesome fitness app that makes training social and more fun. The app syncs smoothly with my bike computer and other workout programs/devices. I highly recommend it for all bikers, runners, and swimmers.

Not the most accurate times, but nice to see progress. Pretty darn reliable recording if you have a GPS signal. Can't beat this app for FREE!

it's a nice app. really is. but mine stops recording even when i check connection. or it just doesn't upload/syn (server error 400). sometimes the recording just disappears.. really wish it could be fixed.

I am using the free version of the Strava app and it works brilliantly to record my activities. Also use a Garmin Forerunner and it all syncs perfectly. Very happy with this free app.

I love the comparisons to my previous runs ( and sections thereof), as well as the comparisons to other people who have run those sections.

4 stars as the functionality was downgraded recently, so you have to pay for HRM functions etc. On the other hand, it's mostly free, which is nice.

Used to be a 5 star app, and then they decided to remove the ability to connect heart rate monitors and other external sensors.

Runs smooth and it is 100% compatible with Garmin. The details on the web app are stunning, but it should be improved in the mobile app.

Lately this app has been drastically improved. Not only on my phone but also on my Samsung watch. All of my readings on my watch are way more accurate as well.. Nicely done Strava. 😁

Please fix the latest update. Now required to Save the run first via popup. Then notification pops up saying run complete. Only at that stage can you edit the run for effort, type, shoes, etc.

You get plenty of functionality and I just use the free version. I've used it to log my run a few times when my watch locked up. Love it.

Best app for running hands down. Absolutely love all the data points and being part of the local running community. Would give more stars if I could.

Great app but crashes a lot. A LOT. Atleast 3-4 times on every run and then the timings and speeds all get messed up. Other than that, really good app.

Strava is good but the android app needs more work to integrate better with Samsung products. It doesn't work with Samsung gear fit products.

This app help change my life. Along with cycling. Kept me interested in being better than I was. Love the stats and social aspect as well. Thanks Strava!

Awesome app, haven't had any problems using this except on an earlier version that kept ending my workout. Summit functionality is also really cool especially beacon for safety.

Use to work now is terrible on tracking. randomly jumps streets and had me swimming in a channel a few times, thought it was a one time thing but it been happening at least 3 times a week

It's very basic for the free version compared to komoot which has alot alot more fuctionallity and options to use especially route planning on the phone app which is lacking here..Feel komoot is more user friendly also..

Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.
