Google Play Reviews

  1. Josh Johnson-avatar

I'm not impressed. Go to set current location and I have to exit the app in order to go back to the stars. Also if I point down, I'm still seeing stars and constellations. Far from accurate or a good app. I can't even give it a star. But I have to in order to write a post.

  2. Rod Van Beek-avatar

I love this app! Just point your phone anywhere and see where planets and stars are and identify them. The ads are a tiny banner, not bothersome. My only request would be that they make it easier to identify exactly which stars are the brightest, it can be a little hard to identify one when the app shows you there are a bunch of stars there yet you only see one. Otherwise it's fantastic.

  3. Rod Kuehn-avatar

Excellent! As a casual astronomer, it has everything I want. I can call up a constellation to study the star names. The encyclopedia disappears automatically when my phone is raised above the horizon. Similarly, settings buttons disappear when the phone is above the horizon, keeping full use of the screen. Helpful zoom. Great graphics. Full control over how much info I want displayed. Excellent settings menu. Perfection! I suspect that some complaints are due to not understanding the settings.

  4. Ivica Ergovic-avatar

Great app! Point it to the sky and you will see starnight on your screen with star names, so you will be able to identify stars and planets. You can even pont it below horizon and check stars as seen down under! Or you can track current position of the Moon. Of course, one can also check stars during daylight., not visible from Earth in daylight, but you know they are there.

  5. Jimmy Davis-avatar

It's probably the best "free" star mapping app out there. I've tried many of them but this one has always been my "go-to" app whenever I'm curious about what I'm looking at in the sky. It's very accurate and easy to use. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a time travel option. Sometimes you want to see where the moon, or Venus, is gonna be next Tuesday, or 4 months from now and this app doesn't allow you to change the time or date. Other apps do it, why can't this one. Still the best.

  6. Faye Misner-avatar

Trouble seeing just stars not constellations. Too many lines going in different directions at once. Would like to be able to read more about certain stellar events when i clicked on the notification which describes some event or path. But i go straight to the sky map. Only a pointer to the event. Too many sparkling stars all at the same time. Would like to search for specific planets or constellations, then show me on a sky map.

  7. Jon Hall-avatar

They show every star in sky so it is very hard to figure out which one is "that bright one over there Daddy." Would be nice if you could somehow adjust the stars that are easily visible vs those super far in the distance. Also, there are notifications like "dont miss the comets tonights" and when you click on the notification, it brings you to the app but doesn't help you find what they are telling you about.

  8. Chelsey Vuyk-avatar

It's really cool! But the one feature i loved when i first used it- how i could point my phone in any direction and the stars would show according to wherever i was pointing my phone- it randomly does it some times and not others. I've tried messing with the settings multiple times and can't figure out how to make that happen!

  9. Alex Fandel-avatar

I love this app! Love the notifications about things going on in our observable universe. Love the ethereal quality and music....the one app I keep the sound on. The outlines of the constellations is so helpful. If only there were less light pollution! Cant wait to use this camping!

  10. Dan Bates-avatar

I wish there were a current "event" tab so we could just click and see what events are happening in real time. As it is now, I get a notification outside the app itself, then I'm left to search the skys, not knowing where, or when to look.

  11. Bl9ndie-avatar

I actually love this app! I've been watching the Lyrids meteor shower on my phone for days and nights now! I really do enjoy the info I've received about different parts of the sky, like what a nebula is and what comet trail we're passing through. I especially love the real time meteor show on my phone. I've recommended this app to half a dozen people if not more. We're all in this together - might as well make it a fun experience if possible! Stay safe!

  12. Tanmay Jaiswal-avatar

This app is really cool if you simply want to point at the sky and find out which star you a looking at. It works really well and does what it claims. I'd love it if they added support to track satellites also. I'd also like it if the compass stayed visible when I point my phone upwards. I'd also like something that shows angle of elevation from the horizon. I wouldn't mind paying for these features. I've had a pleasant experience with this app on the whole.

  13. Herb Handyman-avatar

Some interesting sights have been brought to my attention. Unfortunately, where I'm situated I can only observe the eastern to southern sky from horizon on up. I was hoping to get more out of this app when traveling in the RV, but we all know how that's turned out! Stay safe and healthy.

While pointing at a particular star it is highlighting near by stars as well which is kind of confusing, except that every thing is good...And also I wanted to know that enabling meteros button is really displaying the shooting stars or is it just graphics?..

  15. Luci Kazmar-avatar

Really cool but the gps or whatever it runs off to know where you're pointing your phone at is slightly off. Like when pointing it at the moon it is just a little off of where it really is to where the app says it is. So makes it it more difficult to find the stars father away and or close together. Either way still a lot a fun and since my 7 yr old just recently really got into the whole astronomy thing for him it's a great app to play with.

  16. Darfyddi-avatar

Great app, gave a free trial of full features and I thought the full product was so good I purchased it straight away. Very accurate and full of information. Although I normally have it muted, I do like the calming music too.

    2020-05-09T07:10:58.291Z

I feel like it gives me notifications about something cool happening and when I click on it, it opens the app and I see all the constilations but I can never finish reading what's happening and when it where what am I missing? I love how it looks when open the app but how do I find out more info

  18. Patrick Neeley-avatar

Beautiful VR view of space. It took me a while to figure out how to fix my location when its autodetect waa wrong. After that, it was a pleasure to use. Presentation is awesome.

  19. Lewis Whinn-avatar

Love the app Only thing wrong is once you have clicked the notification about something that's happening there is no way to go back and see what it said. If there was the option to read previous notifications I would rate 5 star

  20. Roger Demers-avatar

This app has are it much easier to learn the night sky in my area! As a novice astronomer being able to find certain constellations and certain deep sky objects simply by looking in the sky through the app has been fantastic! You have nothing to loose, try this even if you think you have a great handle on the stars in your sky!

  21. Kevin Peyton-avatar

I can't track anything. No matter how much I turn to find a constellation in real time it constantly points east and won't stop zooming in and out. It is so frustrating! Unless it gets fixed soon I'm uninstalling and not coming back. Graphics are fine, notices and data are great but tracking needs to be fixed, urgently!

  22. Sayard McQuade-avatar

This app is awesome and accurate. Is there a way I can see where the Ophiuchus constellation is? Am I missing it? This app shows the physical location of the planets in our sky so it's ideal for sidereal astrology.

  23. A Tempresident-avatar

I love this app. Amazing to get notifications of something special happening. It's opened my world up to so many interesting things I otherwise would not have known. It's sometimes a bit tricky to figure out, but sure it will get better with more use.

  24. EyeOfRaz-avatar

Awesome app but can you do a section once in the app that has the information for that day corresponding to the information I receive on my notifications tab about what stars/planets* have aligned and so on. Many times I swipe clear my notification and then once I'm in the app I just see the arrows showing me what's happening but I don't know what it's about. Cheers 👍

It's fun and easy to use augmented reality! I found three new constellations last night, and this morning I can see how they've moved "beneath" us now. It gives a sense of how we're on a ball flying through space. A great educational tool!

  26. Richard M-avatar

Not very happy with the app. Often it won't give me an accurate view of the sky. I see the moon in the sky but the app doesn't seem to display properly and as I turn the display gets all weird. Like a compass when a magnet is near it. After awhile it fixes itself. Just a bit annoying.

  27. Fizzloid-avatar

Quite entertaining, but not too accurate. Starfield wanders about all over the place. Works as a reference but identifying stars is problematic. You can point your phone at the visible moon and and it may be 90 degrees away on the display. Bit of fun for a few minutes.

  28. Salvador Rico-avatar

"OUTSTANDING "! This App.actually words really well ,You just point your phone up to the Night Skies and the App. Tells you the name of stars. So far I'm very happy with this App.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ in the Texas Skies.

As both a casual fan of astronomy and also a student of it I really dig this app. It seems pretty accurate and always blows me away to see where things are and track them throughout the year and see the different cycles. Highly recommend to anyone who's a fan of star gazing.

It's a gorgeous app but the calibration is off. I tried recalibrating by following the instructions for the initial calibration (Samsung Note) but to no avail. But aside from that (reason for 3 stars) I love it!

    2020-05-21T23:55:13.609Z

In the good old days you had a guy whispering in your ear names of different stars and constellations in the night. Well, this app is more accurate and informative in my humble opinion.

  32. R Mason-avatar

GREAT APP !!! (android phone) Love the detail, Unbelievable. Great to show kids and grandkids. Wish the zoom out feature went out a bit further and you could hold, but otherwise I love it. This App has heightened my interest in taking an astronomy class. Very well done !

  33. Louis De Biasi-avatar

Not 100% accurate but close enough. If you could add a manual compass adjustment it would save having to go outside just to get a preview of what's in the sky at that moment. Being able to turn the app off fully when not in use would help my battery last longer. Otherwise not a bad app.

  34. Ben Smith-avatar

Not being able to correctly re-position the compass ruining the whole function of this app. The compass was right one time and it was great! The next day the compass was lost and i couldnt reset it. When the compass is aligned this app is awesome! When the compass is glitching this app become useless.

  35. Scott Slaten-avatar

I used to love this app. It even showed cool things like the Bootes, but that's now gone. The UI seems a lot more jittery and the menus are hard to pull up and keep on the screen. Much more enjoyable before recent updates

  36. Vanessa Alcala-avatar

LOVE the notifications I receive on whats going on in the night sky. for example it let me know to look up and catch Venus in front Pleiades which was awesome!! Very enjoyable app.

  37. Adrian Stinga-avatar

I have been using it for a while, then calibration seems to be a problem, just cant point me to the wright direction. Does anyone now how to calibrate it, would be much appreciate it

  38. John Gray-avatar

Most responsive app of its type (in my opinion). Very accurate with the camera/ celestial objects you're aiming towards, with respect to the compass and gyroscope.

  39. johnny Mompoint-avatar

I've installed it before, i got problem with my phone, then i installed it again because it was great. When you got the phone to the sky it took you automatically to the constellation and stars. Now i saw that you changed the map or you turneb it to a ficed map fixed. When you take the phone to the sky, you must try by yourself to find stars or constellation. So i take all the stars i gave you in the past. It's now a boring app.

  40. Tom Taylor-avatar

Works perfectly, if it dosent, swing the phone in a figure 8 as hard as you can (preferably outside) to reset the gyro and then make sure the moon position is accurate. Boom, now you can amaze yourself and your friends/family with astronomical fun facts!

  41. Ayan Sinha-avatar

This absolutely amazing It let's me keep a track on the movement of the planets and stars Then I use my telescope and take some good shots. It also allows me to manage abschedule so that I can take it time for the exact location

  42. Steve Lash-avatar

Good star finder app but the pop up notifications NEVER work. I click on them, the app opens, then nothing. Notifications like "watch the brightest planet in the sky......." can't read the rest, so I click on it and the app opens but there is no information about the brightest planet. So obnoxious

  43. Kevin Smith-avatar

I love this app except for the fact that the compass is way off now and there is no way to calibrate it making the Sky view very inaccurate Please fix this. Great otherwise!

  44. Todd Leonard-avatar

Best star app in my opinion. I'm changing my review. For the last two months this thing has been all over the place. I pointed at the moon and there's nothing it says it's in the total other part of the sky, it's like the tracking doesn't work anymore I'm sick of it. This is no longer a reliable app

  45. Zaki-avatar

The location services are very inconsistent, the developer team need to add the feature to add one's exact location by typing the adress, beacuse automatic GPS, and tapping on a lifeless map that you can't even zoom far in and with no street names is soo inaccurate. It makes the viewing experience dull.

  46. Toby G-avatar

Holy moly! A lot better than I expected! Great app for looking at constellations and bright bodies in the sky to figure out what's what. The ability to actually move your phone around and point at stars in the sky with names is amazing!

  47. leah culp-avatar

I'm fascinated by looking at the stars with your App! It brings everything into focus and I actually know what I'm looking at ☺! The only problem I have is being able to close the App.... THANX!!

  48. Chris Lally-avatar

Pretty cool app. A lot of options and settings as a free app. Really accurate star seeking from phone. It notifies you when something pretty cool is going to happen, gives you time and then has an arrow that directs you as where to look. 10 STARS if I could.

  49. Sabine Peters-avatar

Great, I love it, much better than Google. I would just love to be able to read the notifications for the star events in the app as well, as soon as I click it it is gone and I cannot read anymore what is happening.

  50. Advait Joshi-avatar

I would pay for this if: - settings were more intuitive and clearly understandable - constellation art could be turned off - settings did not disappear never to be retrieved after a few minutes of use - locking to/unlocking from compass was supported Nice additions would be - satellite tracking - ability to toggle constellation lines

Very cool. Shows the constellations true to form and various others. Very happy with the content which shows nebulas and planets with great accuracy. My kids love the app as well. Highly recommend.

  52. Cheesy Danger-avatar

Really great app and never crashes or glitches. I love stargazing. This app makes it even more enjoyable because now I know what I'm looking at. 10/10 would recommend. Some ads but never interferes with the user experience.

  53. Johnny Kabella-avatar

Cool app. Always impressive to share with new users. I have a Samsung 8+. Dislikes. Get notifications on phone, about upcoming events. Trying to get any information, on said activities, seems futile with the app. Would be so much better if some info was given.

  54. Vasu Sharma-avatar

Great app. Two feedbacks : 1) sometimes its orientation gets stuck even after calibrating, but it's rare. 2) a cool feature would be if I could mention which constellation or star or planet I want to look at, and the app can guide me where to look

  55. Martin Shepherd-avatar

Love this app. As a star gazer from way back, this app really has everything one needs to enjoy the night sky (except the switch to turn off all the local street lights!) Really enjoy the notices of special celestial events.

I live in a place with a lot of light pollution and I'm visually impaired so I can't see stars very well, but this app makes it very easy to find and identify constellations and planets.

  58. Rephraseit-avatar

Straight up 5 star. Priceless app. Bought it instantly. If ur compass doesn't work correctly, try to calibrate, easier to do than complaining over the devs. Maps, just check your gps. This app deserves like 4.7 stars, let the 0.3 be the idiots that all population might have

  59. Amanullah Khan-avatar

You cannot see the notifications again. Like the event which is happening or just happened. Once closed cannot be seen again.

  60. Hafiz Rahman-avatar

Its awesome app. I can find out everything in the sky what I need. It Easily finds Mars Jupiter Saturn Mercury Moon. I can find these sitting in my room and get targets in sky.

  61. YCM-avatar

I only have a small issue: when I re-enter the app, some settings that I changed go default, so I have to change them again everytime. The one that bothers me the most is the auto zoom. Other than that, this is amazing

  62. Leslie Wilding-avatar

Very difficult to align phone with sky. Doesnt seem to use satellite compass too well. Notifications are too long and can't be viewed ever. Too long for notification window and disappear when opening app.

It's awesome! But it could use some fine tuning. Maybe a paid subscription? To get the star tracker pro or something?

  65. Roger Smith-avatar

Nothing could be easier or more amazing for exploring the skies from the palm of your hand. this app never fails and always and always amazes me. every kid in school and adult with a brain should have this app.

  66. Basid Azmi-avatar

Love its accuracy. Just missing some trivia or facts about constellations. Can add some skills too, like how to find north... And other directions using constellations. Anyway, it's a lovely app.

This is a good app. I see and learn a lot of things from it. Biggest problem is the app doesn't recognize my bearings. I use the app to see things they notify me about . But it is constantly 20 to 90 degrees off of what I'm trying to look at through my telescope.

  68. Steph Hartley-avatar

Learning a lot about the night sky, absolutely fascinating, always been interested but now I'm hooked, I've read plenty stargazing books previously, some can be daunting, but the app makes sense of it all.

  69. Amber Pierce-avatar

We love this app. It notifies us of interesting stellar movement like unique alignments, meteor showers, full moons, and we can sit under the stars and study the formations using the directional and visual map the app gives us as a reference. Love it!

Pretty good app overall. Sometimes it doesn't line up with the sky, and I would love to see things like the space station in it.

  71. James Wickman-avatar

It's great stuff. I can usually find what I want and what they offer us depending on the heavens. Unfortunately for me, the weather is not always my friend. Still, appreciate the app. Keep it coming

  72. Shane Madaris-avatar

I really love this app. I havent run into any program glitches or any other problems. Great to take out camping and show the kids what treasures are right over their head...or to check your own knowledge of the cosmos.

  73. Amy Morel-avatar

Great quick tool for identification. Nice to get notifications on meteor showers and such. Sometimes hard to locate the event the notifications reference in the app. Overal I really like it.

Very neat to be able to see where everything is located including meteor showers. Also let's you know what events will happen when it gets dark ie meteor showers or when planets gather in an area near the moon.

It's great. My only problem is the when I try to read the notifications and click on them they go straight to sky map

  78. Keith Carlton-avatar

Whenever I open the app, it seems that it is going to work properly then it goes pear shaped. For instance, it you point it at a star or planet, the star or planet on the app goes away from where it is actually in the sky.

Love this app. It's mostly for fun if you're into it but it truly does have a lot of info behind the gorgeous pictures.

Whether day or night it's interesting to know what the planets look like. I find them fascinating. Quite a few of my friends have also downloaded the app and we make an evening of it. Especially during the meteor showers. Thanks!

When I stared at the night stars as a kid l always wondered what name were given to them .. Years later I downloaded star tracker and had my question answered . When I'm out camping and the friends kids seem bored at night, I turn on Startracker and they get an app I never had at their age and a new understanding of the stars in the sky.

Small app, but as good as some of the much bigger ones. I like the visuals - really nice touch. Captures the sense of awe and wonder of stargazing.

  83. Ginger Whalen-avatar

Get notifications. Try to open and it only gives shot of stars, not info on notifications. No kind of any navigayion at all. It is fun when you look at stars or I would delete app. Otherwise useless.

  84. Joel Ketola-avatar

I think it's a little twisted or maybe it's my bad GPS, but overall it looks awesome, and i like the night sounds, you can turn it down if you don't. 😃

Automaticly let's me know when and where to look, so I don't miss anything. Nice graphics, self explanatory app.

The best star map I've found by far in terms of accuracy, information and aesthetics, and I've tried several.

Fantastic. I can now navigate the stars. I really enjoy matching them up and knowing what I'm looking at. It's been magical.

Its accurate.. I had tried few other popular apps but thw calibration was not good. But this one worka seamlessly...with accuracy and more visual details and other information about the stellar constellation..

Ads should be turned off if I pay for the full version. Surprised to not see the latest Comets in the app recently in the news.

  90. Melissa Murray-avatar

Love this app! It's easy, and works when its cloudy. For me, It does just what I want it to do.

  91. Richard Cox-avatar

Its ok. But a tad confusing at times , like where is up and where is down. Its not bad but then not great either

  92. Leia Money-avatar

This app is great!!! I could spend hours looking at the sky even more now. It also alerts me when there are things happening . I love it!!!

Worth every penny, love the notifications as well and I usually turn them off for all apps. They tell when to look out for important conjunctions and other cosmic events.

  94. Jose Carrey-avatar

I like this app and the graphics, my only problem is that it seems to be off a few degrees so is a little hard to see which stars are really which. If you can fix that it would be 5 star

Its 100% accurate and genuine app. It shows exact position of that star which ur camera is facing. I approved it.I like it. Thanks

  96. Monte Doran-avatar

Love it, great graphics and animation, but jus hope, this app would give us a notification on certain events happening in the stars, like meteor shower, to solar/lunar eclipses.

  97. joanna whicher-avatar

Beautiful graphics. There's a compass and it orientated whatever direction you are facing. You can watch the stars moving. Stunning

  98. Mark E-avatar

Very impressive. Worth the purchase to see more constellation images. For 5 stars - dev, please add a red mode so we can preserve our night vision. Thanks!

I do like this programme, one improvement the messages disappear once selected I would prefer if they stayed until I delete. Two screen seems to be 180 degrees out.

Typically the tracker seemed to be right on target, but the last couple weeks I just couldn't line up. Perhaps this update will fix the problem.
