What is Tarot (as cited in Wiki)
The tarot (first known as trionfi and later as tarocchi, tarock, and others) is a pack of playing cards (most commonly numbering 78), used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play a group of card games such as Italian tarocchini and French tarot. From the late 18th century until the present time the tarot has also found use by mystics and occultists in efforts at divination or as a map of mental and spiritual pathways.

Like a normal deck of cards, the tarot has four suits (which vary by region, being the French suits in Northern Europe, the Latin suits in Southern Europe, and the German suits in Central Europe). Each of these suits has pip cards numbering from ace to ten and four face cards for a total of 14 cards. In addition, the tarot has a separate 21-card trump suit and a single card known as the Fool. Depending on the game, the Fool may act as the top trump or may be played to avoid following suit.

François Rabelais gives tarau as the name of one of the games played by Gargantua in his Gargantua and Pantagruel; this is likely the earliest attestation of the French form of the name. Tarot cards are used throughout much of Europe to play card games. In English-speaking countries, where these games are largely unplayed, tarot cards are now used primarily for divinatory purposes. Occultists call the trump cards and the Fool "the major arcana" while the ten pip and four court cards in each suit are called minor arcana. The cards are traced by some occult writers to ancient Egypt or the Kabbalah but there is no documented evidence of such origins or of the usage of tarot for divination before the 18th century.

    Candace Harris

This app gives the element & astrology dates associated with each tarot card. It also gives a long list of keywords for upright & reversed position for each card. Would recommend downloading if you need a quick go to reference for the general meanings of each tarot card.

  2. Chelsea Clary-avatar

    Chelsea Clary

While it's a great app, I'm really looking for something similar to "Galaxy Tarot" which i really loved. I found that app useful because every morning, at a time of my choosing i would receive a "card of the day". Aside from the Golden Tarot (which is terrible) i can't find any apps that offer that desired feature.

  3. Patrick Bishop-avatar

    Patrick Bishop

This is the only tarot app i will ever use. It's very handy when teaching people to read the cards, and all the best known tarot card spreads are clearly explained.

  4. Debra Boswell-avatar

    Debra Boswell

I like this app for the lay outs and the descriptions. Also for the other options. I can relate to the readings on different point of views that are close to accurate.

  5. Zatchary Belltucker-avatar

    Zatchary Belltucker

I'm having issues with the ads. They're getting through my phones data filter and causing problems with the family plan I'm on. Otherwise great app, please address.

  6. Xander Taylor-avatar

Please stop the Daily Horoscope ad! It is freezing my phone & I must continually reboot it. I will continue giving 1 star until it is fixed.

  7. Alluru Nagendhrudu-avatar

If you have nothing else to do, you can keep reading these cards which doesn't give any inclination of what is beeing said by the cards. It's better to read a philosophy book instead, you will save your Megabites and in turn your money.

  8. A Google user-avatar

Great tool for learning the tarot and useful for when you don't have time for cards

I enjoy using the app it's both entertaining and has given accurate readings from what I've asked ...good tarot app

  10. AzaTek-avatar

    AzaTek

Oddly accurate at times, even when it tells me things I do not want to hear. Especially questions I ask about relationships I'm in, and later the answers end up coming true.
