** IF YOU ARE NOT RUNNING A STOCK LAUNCHER (ie APEX / NOVA) READ THIS THOROUGHLY ** Are you using the new Google Calendar from the Play Store and love the new icon but are fed up with the icon just showing "31" regardless of the date? If you install this widget AND add it to your home screen it mimics the Calendar icon and shows the new icon that you love but with the actual date on the calendar. If you click the icon it launches the new Google Calendar app if it is installed, otherwise it launches the local Calendar app. Because this is a widget pretending to be a home screen shortcut its impossible to get it to align perfectly on all devices. It works on the stock launchers. I can't get it to align on Apex / Nova Launcher etc sorry. CAVEATS Due to the fickle nature of widgets and home screens we can't be certain it works on all devices but we have tested on quite a few. HTC Sense seems to be an issue. The icon on the Nexus 7 is as close as we can get it, we can't make it any higher unfortunately. NOTE: This app is a widget, it will not appear in your app drawer. To add, go to your widgets, look for "Calendar Live Widget" and add that to the home screen for it to function.

Just what I needed and wanted

Is there a way you could have it launch a different calendar application? For example, I prefer to use Digical, but this widget doesn't launch it. I've set Digical as the "default" calendar application using "Default App Manager Pro", but even that doesn't work in this case. Also, could you add options to use different icons or maybe remove the "curl" at the bottom of the icon?

PlayStore notes the the regular Google Calendar app is not compatible with my Motorola Droid 3. I thought that this widget would be another way to get my Google Calendar on my phone, as this is the ultimate goal. The widget will not open upon pressing the icon that I have placed on my home screen. Please help me configure this so that I can make use of my Google Calendar on my phone. Thank you.

It seems like such an obvious oversight by Google. I installed this on my Nexus 7 and Nexus 5. Looks and works great on both. Very handy to have time and CORRECT date on home screen. Did I say thank you?

Icon + word "calendar" doesn't match other icons. Would be great if there were settings so that it would match all my other icons. Eg. Changing the amount of spacing under the icon and the word calendar, or making the word calendar disappear, etc

Maybe it's my device, but I can't change from week view to month view (or any other view). The only thing this does for me is put the current date on the icon. Uninstalled. Nice try, though.

Great job on looking like the Google image but why is the no option to choose what program you want to open? I use another calendar program and this widget does nothing..I see others noted this as well. I suggest getting calendar widget plus 2 - their paid version lets you choose what program to open and had many different icon options all with the date on them!

Icon/Widget disappeared but phone shows it installed. Uninstalled/Reinstalled, still not working. Happened after update. Great widget when working. Will make 5* again after fixed. Widget doesn't show up under my Widgets.

Would give it a 5 if we could have the widget bigger like in 3x3 or if I could install it on the bar at the bottom...Sorry can't remember how it's called now!
