This has been my go-to app for quick, easy photo edits for YEARS. As of October 2020, they completely changed the interface, making the tools inconvenient to access and no longer intuitive at all. I used it heavily for a few days to be sure my irritation wasn't just about a learning curve, but no. The new version is TERRIBLE, and I'm now looking for a replacement from someone else. Forget this garbage unless they fix it.

It used to be great, but with recent updates they changed things for the worse. I used to really enjoy the little reminders of "this day in 2015" or whatever, but now the UI is impossible to control or navigate in those features. They show you the same stuff, but when you go to view it the photos fly by (maybe 5 second a pic) and you can't pause it or swipe back and forth. Also if you accidentally dismiss it you can never find it again. I hate it. Please go back the way it was.

Good app. Great since it is free. But Google should fix/modify it. The thing I can't stand is... Trying to put photos in order. After moving a photo or pic in the order I want, it will move to a different spot, and rearrange other photos that were previously placed. This is highly agrovating + time consuming. I assume it has to do with size or ???, But, it should just, do what you want. Funny thing is, I used QuickPic for years because it did exactly what I needed + easily. 2 bad it's gone.

I love this app, it's editing and software is amazing!!! I've been using it for 4 years and don't plan on stopping. Although I have one idea, could the developers make it so that there's a feature which scans for duplicate photos and shows you them so you can decide whether you keep or delete them. As I have to do this manually and it's a huge pain. I would be ever so thankful if Google worked on adding that feature and o hope you all have a good day :)

The new layout for editing is pure evil!! Why on earth you had to go this way? Before it was so comfortable, quick and easy, with instant overview of the editing parameters.. Now I have to open each one to see how it is set?? It is absolutely going backwards!! This was the reason I was always using Photos to edit my pictures because I hated the way it is on Instagram. Congrats to copying this bull setup.

  6. Vought Crusader-avatar

The most recent update is HORRENDOUS! It is now a painstakingly aggravating process to adjust photos. Every setting has been separated. They used to be together on one screen with drop-down arrows to expand the selections. It was so easy and quick to adjust photos. What took seconds now takes minutes of going back and forth between settings to find just the right balance. The UI designers should be ashamed of themselves.

  7. Chris-avatar

Another once great App ruined by over complication. I used to love using Google Photos for quick and simple photo editing. Not anymore. Why so complicated? Why do I have to scroll past a suggestion tab to get to the editing tools? Which are now again overly complicated and more time consuming to use. You missed the mark with this "update" Google. Do you actually ask real users for feedback or just ruin stuff for the sake of it?

  8. Thomas Janousek-avatar

Terrible app. There is no mass camera roll, instead the default storage of photos is by date, which just looks and feels more unorganized. Counterintuitive I know, but it's true. Photos taken in airplane mode just default to a random date, meaning you can't find them very easily when you want to see them, and obviously they aren't in the correct chronology of when you took them. Automatically creates random photo folders without adding those photos to your camera roll. 1 star do not recommend.

  9. Tim Maselli-avatar

    Tim Maselli

A better back up system! I've lost a lot of pics because I would see them in the Google app so to minimize phone storage I would delete them from my Android phone thinking they're safe because I saw them in the app. I learned the hard way, it doesn't work that way! Also better organization. Why the "double delete/ double placement?" Regarding albums if you delete the picture in the date row, it also deletes it in the album. So then you have 2 of the same pic which is a waste of space!

Been using this app for years, and it improves constantly. The way it ties in to your Google account to automatically backup and sync across devices, and the ability to share your library with a friend or loved one, makes it an absolute winner. Very intuitive and fun to use. Plus the Assistant does some really cool stuff with Animations, Collages and Stylized photos automatically. Thanks Google for your awesome software!

I'm really disappointed because when I tried to download wallpapers from Zedge they were NOT in my photos. In fact, I couldn't find them ANYWHERE! This really is very inconvenient because I'll download product pictures & they aren't in photos. This is upsetting because there are times when it's s very important item. This really needs fixing. I don't have this problem with my phone, just my tablet.

A great app with a MASSIVE FLAW that never gets fixed. I love using Google Photos and open it many times a day on my phone. Unfortunately there is a HUGE problem that has been an issue for years. The app saves MASSIVE amounts of data in the background to your phone in Photos Data storage and quickly climbs to 6-9 GB of data! It cannot be cleared by wiping cache. The ONLY way to remove it is to delete all the app's data and setup your account again from zero. FIX IT GUYS! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

  13. Wamani Raymond-avatar

    Wamani Raymond

With this new update, it's a mess. Firstly, I can't share my photos with a partner, it keeps alerting me of 'unexpected error' since I did the update. Secondly, if I share a photo and comments with a partner over the app, the partner doesn't get anything. Please save us from this. Lastly, backing up is fake too.

  14. Kim Willis-avatar

Great organizational app. I have not downloaded the new update but if you spend a little town after you download the app and set up your library settings the app will do the organization. @Que... Someone suggested I download a malware app to remove any viruses or malware that could be on my phone. I did...and the problem was resolved. It does use a lot of data moving pictures around. If I share a photo, I try to remember to un-share because that person will have access ♾️😳

  15. Jaikrishnan K-avatar

    Jaikrishnan K

Very good, unless it decides to behave like a spoilt kid. Anyway it teaches you a lot of patience. Once it does that being spoilt, it can create a lot of problems like not at all updating photos using any type of data. Sometimes it latches on this wanting to use only mobile data, else it will always wait for WiFi even if you're connected to WiFi. Or it will just keep telling you that it is getting ready for backup. And in these cases, it will drain your battery like nobody's business.

  16. Martin Andrews-avatar

    Martin Andrews

Appalling on an Android. How do I disable this update! Previous version did what it said on the tin! Why a huge dashboard but a minute image to edit? Have to use magnifying glass!! Unusable! 4 times slower as repeated save & exit to review, & some pics fail to re-focus. Just a JOKE - as bad as iPhoto edits, have to use Google photos on an iPhone now (til you wreck that too)! Used to be fun, not now. What gives you the right to mess about with people's lives? If it isn't broken, don't mend it!!

  17. Jannik-avatar

The updates in the last few months made syncing much worse! "Getting your photos..." now takes ages and eats up storage space with its cache until the app crashes due to insufficient storage. I just want to upload my newest few photos so I can remove them to free up more storage in the first place. Backing up photos to my cloud has become a real headache when I only have little space left.

  18. Eric Chen-avatar

    Eric Chen

I used to love the editing in photos but the recent update has made it so difficult to use. Having to manually go into highlights, whites, blacks etc then back again to change takes so long. It was perfectly fine before having everything all as sliders all on the screen at once, it was a lot easier to play around and refine my edits.

  19. Patrick Howard-avatar

    Patrick Howard

Terrible update. Terrible new logo. The editing is now a complicated mess to navigate. Each type of adjustment is now separated in a horizontal scrolling menu so you have to slide back and forth as you try to make adjustments. Go back to the single view of the adjustment sliders so we can actually see what we're doing!

  20. Matthew Carranza-avatar

I truly appreciate and enjoy the movies and slide shows that often "pop" up without initiating. Very nice, pleasant surprise. Please let US suggest NOT TO CHANGE/ UPDATE and initialize many changes Previously, Google Photos was very user friendly. Now, I have to search, explore and "stumble" upon things. I learn better by discovery anyway.

What kind of monkey squad made the new editor? Since when more tapping is an improvement? What's wrong with the grouped sliders? It's super easy to use them.. "Let's make it more like shitstagram" isn't an argument, because the use cases are wildly different. On instagram you post 1 or few pictures and the long editor is justified. Here, you snap 70 pictures and need to edit 50 of them, hence the editing speed is paramount.

  22. Philip T-avatar

    Philip T

Google has reduced the editing utility for an instagram experience. You used to be able to manipulate and edit all categories of color composition in a single screen. No more. That useful UI has been replaced with a revolving list of attributes with a slider you can use. Sorry Google if I wanted to edit my photos in instagram. I would have used instagram.

  23. Stephan Charbonneau-avatar

    Stephan Charbonneau

I used to edit photos but ... the new UI is all about style whereas functionality is terrible. It takes a lot more clicks to accomplish edits. I did think UI could be improved before, but this update is very disappointing for its time consumption. Please restore the sliders instead of another layer of UI for every individual setting to edit! Simplicity means having direct access to the different knobs without having to switch between screens or options all the time. Thank you

I just need to take a whole day off, and feed my whole digital-self along with my sLR-gear into this app. What a beautiful and elegant design. Simplicity at its best. And then, adding the assistant is like, cherry on top. 😁😙 If you're into photography, basic editing, sharing, organizing, collaborating, and most importantly... storing all your work in one place, then THIS IS IT! ☺ The app keeps getting better with every update. Keep it up! 👍

Good updates but one thing I've noticed. If you delete a photo, empty the trash and then "free up space" after, that photo will reappear. Also, please add the ability to delete images straight from albums. Sometimes you come across an image that you want to get rid of but you can only remove them from the album and there is no way to find the image to delete except to scroll forever and hopefully not overlook it. Thanks for all you guys and gals do!

2 major problems that need to be fixed. 1. You can't download a bunch of photos at once and it's really annoying when you have to download over 100 photos one by one. 2. when I download photos onto a different device to make videos it messes up my photos and makes them broken. I then, after downloading over 100 photos, have to put every single one through another app one by one. Honestly, who has time to do all of that??? Especially when I'm gonna be taking over 500 screenshots for a video.

I love how Google does everything, and this doesnt disappoint. But through the photo search bar, nothing works. For example, I would search up a name and nothing would appear. But the names are set up, and they have there own album. This is the same with things. It automatically groups things , but it doesn't show when searched for. Also, when I ask Google assistant to show pictures, like a place, face, album, thing, it doesn't work. Just like the search. I have everything set up and allowed.

Good app but can do alot better. Should try to focus on photos that doesn't not show in the people's folder. Or give an option in which we can manually add the photos in the people's folder... As it will be easier to find the picture by clicking on that persons photo. As it doesn't recognise the face and left some images as others when the picture can be identified easily.

There's a saying... If it ain't broke... Don't fix it... This latest update for editing had totally changed and NOT for the better Before You could see all the colour adjustments in one panel.. Now.. You have to select each individually.. That's quicker... NO PLEASE have a re think Because it was VERY good before and a pleasure to use... Now just seems non methodical. 😥 Hence the 2* rating Before definitely 5*

Absolutely love it! Using it often and love how it personalizes everything. The two setbacks I faced 1) Something that I encountered while creating a collage is that there is no search function within the collage component. You will need to go through all your pictures to find the pictures you need for the collage. 2) Probably a user issue or maybe not whenever you download an assest from Google Photos it tends to resync/re-upload the downloaded file again thus creating unneeded duplicates.

hello team, i am having a problem with the app, may be some bug. i was trying to move some photos from one folder to another but when did that (e.g. from "screenshots" to a new folder "songs") the photo got copied instead and was showing i both the folders. So i deleted the copies from the initial folder (screenshots) but they got deleted from the other folder also(songs). Was this supposed, I don't think so. That was really saddening and disheartening. Please look into it.

The app is great with the google len built in. However there are still some point make it hard to use. 1st the images have only 1 way to sort which make it incredible hard to read if import or download multiple images. It should have many ways to sort such as "by name", "by size", "ascending" , and "descending". The google len also have bad interface. The option button should be separated and could be organized. As a man who use phone with only right hand, i found it really inconvenient to use.

All in all a great app. Editing is easy and very effective. Definitely worth transferring your photos onto here especially as it doesnt take up as much space. Only thing I'd say though is that when you go onto apps they dont show up on the gallery. I'm not sure if it's possible to change this app into a default gallery and get rid of the orignal one. If you could that'd make this app even better.

Great app, easy to use and I love the video stabilization feature! Just one suggestion: when I am prompted to archive items, and I click to "review suggestions ", currently my only option is either to archive items or do nothing. Many times I would either like to delete or re-organize files (move to different folder, rename, etc) but I am unable to do so . Please add this function.

Garbage! If you bring back Picasa web, I would use that as a complete replacement. The truth is that Google has no idea how to improve Google Photos. It's been it as plagued with so many bugs, so I honestly don't know where to begin. I use this every day.. ( even worse today before I wrote this review, please hire real programmers! )

  36. Rose Price-avatar

I am very fed up with this app. Every time one glitch ends a new one takes its place. The newest one? It keeps randomly cropping my photos and I can't undo it. I'll literally take a photo and check on it a few days later and it will have cropped it so only the top of the photo is visible. The thing is, I have a Motorola and Google photos is the default photo gallery - I don't have an ordinary one. Google needs to step up their game or I'm going to get a new phone and stop using them altogether.

  37. Identity V Fuzzy-avatar

It used to be good because I could regain old photos, but ever since I started recording more, its been backing up all my videos and capping out the storage. 1. It doesn't let me stop backing up the folder with the videos. 2. If I try to delete the backup, it says that the files are too big for my trash storage and forces me to delete the backup and delete it off my device! Why would I want to delete it off my device?! Just don't put it in the trash can and delete the backup!

This application is fantastic to categories all your saved photos by specific individuals, places, pets, dates, events, etc so that it is easy to find them anytime you want. You can also create collages and video montages of different photos. I love the fact that it is always being improved with consideration of all the users feedback. The more you rate and provide feedback the better the application becomes.

This is easy to use! I did not realize at first that this app added animations and made collages but they are nice. The trip down memory lane made me smile and it was a pleasant surprise. In my opinion, this app is great, especially for people with little experience. I just wonder about the hacking, when Goggle gets hacked are our pictures at risk? I am ready to recommend this app to my mom but would like my question answered.

I love that "Google photos" has found a way for its usuers to save, and store all of their pictures & videos, from the 1st day to years later. I haven't lost a photo or the memories they bring back for me since 2009 when I 1st started backing them up on google photos! No matter where I am or where I go- I never have to worry about losing a picture again!!!

I think this app is great, I've used it for years in a number of different devices & it's always been compatible, stable & easy to easy use. I'm able to use my devices taking lots of pictures & videos knowing it'll be automatically backed up on the cloud for when I get home to view & edit on my computer. It's like having device . I love this app & all the perks that come with it, it's linked to a number of different apps which make it easy to share between them. Keep up the wonderful work.

Sometimes. It'll change format on me just when I need something urgently, then I cannot find the photo. Additionally, I don't know without consulting a younger person, lol, how to retrieve archived photos!! Aaagrh!!!! Can someone please make that easier for seniors? TY! I snap a shot today and go to make edits and suddenly everything has changed. Prior version had better control, was more intuitive, and didn't resemble the garage Apple interface. Now it does. I can't find any way to adjust preferences either. Haptic feedback is an awful feature. It's been off on my phone since the day I bought it, yet I can't turn it off for Google photos. Such garage. Welcome suggestions. Thanks!

Very average. Not great if using an SD card, can't edit the photos. Backup often gets confused I've had a "camera" folder with just grey pictures in it for months now. Can't delete them, can't move them. Also needs to be able to zoom in more. Don't know why it stops zooming so early. If you have a modern phone with high res images it's nice to be able to zoom in if looking at detail and Google has decided that you can only have a small amount of zoom. All very average and I now use other apps.

Best app ever. Keeps absolutely every image and video backed up. Unlimited storage, everything in chronological order. You can search by key words of what is in the picture , from colors, to items, etc. And it will come up for the most part. It's amazing. Then the image animations , or collages and so much more that it puts together for you. It's truly an amazing app. Whether you're an iphone or Android user , we can ALL benefit greatly from this app.

It's a really good app for storage and basic editing. (I mean BASIC) You can make colleges buy limited to the way the app arranges it and the number of photos in the collage. For editing there are way better apps out there. You can create picture books and other stuff, but you have to pay. If all you want is storage, it's as good as any other app.

Not a fan of the new layout out. My favorite feature of the app are the suggestions for collages, movies, and animations. Now you can only see the suggestions if you log into the computer. When I am not near my computer, I use the suggestions from the Samsung photo gallery to post on social media which is not nearly as robust as Google Photos, but it's all I have.

I don't know why you changed de UI so much, it was perfect in the past, and now it's just confusing, not to mention you can't actually view all the pictures in your phone on your app, only half the folders appear in the album's section, and it feels crowded and somehow underwhelming at the same time

Awful since the Android system update! I never had problems before, but now it is terrible. I cannot delete photos or videos from my phone takes about 3 tries to delete, I have to close the app & reopen it, and even then it's only successful about 50% of the time, so it's more hassle than it is worth to even try since it takes 5 minutes to delete 1 photo. (I have Moto G7 Power)

I am used to this app uploading almost immediately from my phone, and count on that. But for the last few days, possibly since a recent update, it is not working. The app says it has 77 items left and it is 'Getting ready to back up', but the little blue circle circles, then changes to an up arrow, then circles again, and nothing uploads. I can individually click the upload icon on a single picture, and it will upload. But the automated backup has been broken for a few days now. I have tried clearing the cache, restarting the phone, etc., but it just no longer works.

Upload speed is trash! I invested in the Google one subscription and moved all of my photos to the cloud. It took about 4 hours to get 90 percent of my photos and videos. But the last 40 or so items have been unbearably slow. I've tried everything to get them to upload, including deleting and reinstalling the app. It also doesn't upload when the app is not open and forefront. I don't want to use another cloud service I just want this one to work. Please help me!!!

This is a great app and I'm sure all the other reviews have gone over the good things about this app. However, I've given it 4 stars as often I'd open the app and just get kicked out after a couple seconds for no reason. Also, I have an album which i update daily and I've set it to 'most recently added' in the sort menu. The pictures still don't show up in this order and some are even out of the album which I never intended to remove which isn't good. Hope this gets fixed.

Photos is a wonderful way to share photo albums with others!! It's also possible to purchase prints through it which I intend to take advantage of. The app has had its share of minor issues, but I've always gotten it to work, and these problems are being gradually ironed out. Overall its quality and usefulness far outweigh the minor issues and I'll continue to use it regularly!

All in all there's nothing wrong with it. I despise the auto-archive suggestions every day or two. Ultimately I'm glad it doesn't, but it's just such an annoying thing. I'd rather go through my pictures myself and do it, but the app just decided it needs doing and tells me what it thinks should be archived and boom... I'm in the app deciding what to archive right then. I'll have to explore the app further I guess and figure out if I can turn these features off or something.

I would give 5 stars if you would FIX it so that it STOPS duplicating photos, Google drive does this too. I know you have to make money, but to not make it so everything is not duplicated is ridiculous! You do this so that people run out of room fast, then expect them to "buy" more storage. I refuse to buy any more when I know I don't use even HALF of the 15gb! As it is, we have to go in, one by one and delete the duplicates, that takes too much time and is a waste of time.

The earlier version was very nice compare to this one. I had to create the album twice every time i want to create one. First time it does not appear at all. And the photos added to album wont be visible some times. I had to add them 3 to 4 times. Not sure when they will disappear again! So i am scared to delete the local copy! The app might have other issues also but have seen these many currently... Not satisfied.. Please rectify these issues...

This app is really fantastic. This app enables us to create movies by merging many photos and videos. But, I gave just four stars because there are two disliking things about this app. Firstly, if I create a movie including one or more videos Google Photos will trim the video. Secondly, this app allows us to add text to photos but not to videos. I am requesting to Google to enable two more facilities to this app allows to create movies where no videos is trimmed and add text to videos.

The best app for photos. It not only for keeping your photos in one place, but u can share a large amount of images very quickly. The album feature helps me to be perfectly organised. And best part, u can open it in any device any time u want! How cool is that. Now there r a lot more features but I just can't keep on writing. Highly recommended 👍

Please return the old photo editing controls, they were awesome. The new ones are so difficult, they require multiple toutches to do the same simple adjustments and you can't see the photo settings at a glance like the old version, you need to go into each individual setting and all the way back out again. Revert pls!!

As of 10/7/20 the sliders for adjusting photos have been changed. It's really hard to navigate, I liked having warmth, cold, saturation, color, sharpness, etc. all in one area, and now it takes forever to do what I need. Please make an option to change it back or something.

Love that Google Photo automatically backs up all of my photos and videos. Gone are the days of them getting wiped out and lost forever. UPDATE: Drop from 5 to 4 stars. The latest redesign is not very well thought out. All of the functions are still there, but in unintuitive places. I love the app and the way it saves all my photos into my Google account even ones that I had several phones ago from a different carrier more than 8 years ago. the only negative thing I can think of is that the photos app is not available to select from when adding a new contact. if it were readily available to all the apps I would like to access photos from I would rate it 5 stars.

If only if there where more options. There is no undo option for backing up/freeing up. It's frustrating to see all your photos gone in the Gallery too, even though it's on Google Photos, implying that we should use Google Photos primarily. Plus, it backs up photos on accounts I don't want it to back up on. When disable it, it disables backing up for every single connected account. Give me a break!

I've been using Google Photos for many years now, and it's proven to be a great app for my use. It's simple and easy to use, and allows for free unlimited storage, which is a big plus to me. Photos are easy to back up and upload to the app, and the album's are easy to create. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because I can't seem to rearrange my photos, without the app arranging them again. If this is removed I will consider 5 stars, but for now 4 it is.

Overall a good application, but a major bug is that I am unable to delete photos/movies for the first attempt. Need to try 3-4 times at least and each attempt takes a min of 5-10 seconds per photo. Very annoying, nerve wracking, and time consuming. From this perspective, I do not recommend. (this seems to be major bug frequently affecting other users too, not sure why it cannot be fixed) Update: Still no change to this major bug despite it seems to affect a lot of users. Very disappointing.

The app is great, interface is simple. The face recognition feature is so immensely powerful and also the edit corner. I have changed 4 devices since using Google photos and I have them all. The big problem is that the date and time storage of a picture is always incorrect as well as the search needs to be updated. And if you use more than one account in the same device, managing them becomes too difficult... Resolve it as soon as possible.

Otherwise they would've been lost! Thank goodness for this app. It does have done issues with backing up pics and then I go in and find that they're not backed up anymore... Hmmm..... Good app. Stores images and videos really well. But there's a big problem that stops me from rating it 5 stars. The problem is that when I download a photo from Google or any other browser, the photo doesn't appear in Google photos. Please remove this issue and then I will rate you 5 stars.

Fed up. The app is inbuilt in the phone, so I am forced to use it. When trying to make a callage, it doesn't peak photo from screen shot. Edit option is poor. Can't put a photo in another photo. No option to choose which photo to back up and which not. No option to stop back up. Once you have opted to back up your photos it will take each and every photo in to backup. It can't allow folders to shift to external storage. You can't sort photos in group for shifting to SD card.

It's mind blowing to me how well the search function works, type in a word of something in one of the pictures, and *ding*, it'll find it. Organizing the pics is easy, sharing them is even easier. I have access to them anywhere from computer, phone, and tablet. Sort by date, sort by location... Tell it who the various people are and it will recognize them. Plus, let it save hires versions and not the full native resolution, and space is free and (so far) without limit.

Pain in the ass! This app supposedly allows U to do everything. It's such a pain in the ass to use that you'll wind up doing absolutely nothing. It's impossible to edit collages & there's no way to customize. It puts random items in the trash but when u wanna trash a pic it won't get rid of it. Also no way to password protect selected photos like a folder that has a password. Little to no control over the organization of your photos. The "editing" is a joke even for a beginner.

Good but needs some improvement. You need a "jump to date" option. I have a lot of photos and when I try to view a certain date with the slide bar on my phone it always shows days before or after. Hard to control the slide bar. Would be nice if you could double click the slider bar and be prompted to enter a date for a quick jump to. Also, why can't I update locations on the phone app. This would be a good option.

I swear there used to be an easy way to rotate photos, but there isn't one now. To rotate a photo you have to go in to edit mode, then go into a sub menu, and then usually hit the rotate button three times because I only rotates one direction and it's usually the wrong one. Just make an easy rotate button! And let me rotate multiple photos at once!

Very useful app generally. Would have been four stars (not five because of the clunky folder handling), but dropped a further star as of the latest update as photo editing is now horribly cumbersome. The new button and slider interface is just horrible...Far, far too many button clicks to get to what used to take one or two. The app is difficult to navigate.. the layout changes on it's own. Are are my pictures on the internet if I backup with the cloud? Google lense is cool, I'll give them that. Also, I would like to again point out that the layout change sucks. It goes from the order of viewing my photos by month, by folder, by place or by similar objects. It is very helpful in the sense of its storage capacity specially for all phones with a low storage space. I used to think this was a great app. Until, my 10 year old showed me what a basic b!7ch LG TracFone can do. Yeah, the free storage is great, but that has nothing to do with the app. No way that WIRED magazine said it's amazing without being paid to say it. A couple of days later, another update and it's always the exact same size. Always, without fail. Like everything else Google; It's too big. This app has a significant issue that keeps me from rating it higher. When moving a photo to another folder, which I do often to keep things organized, the photo's date changes to the current date. This causes photos to not be organized properly in the folder I've just moved them to. A quick Google search reveals that this is an ongoing issue encountered by many users. Something as simple as correctly keeping a photo's date shouldn't be that difficult.

Since redesign it is less useful as a photo managing tool on the device, but now it's taking it longer and longer to be able to see photos saved from any app. They will show up in any other apps, but photos won't see them for anywhere from 5mins to a few hours. Not sure if it is a Google thing or part of how chromebook just works but it is frustrating having to download every picture I want to share from my photos and then having to go to two places to get rid of them. Also the album suggestions and extranious stuff that pops up is really not needed. The option to do so is fine without suggestions. I do like that I can easily see when photos were taken. One big pro for me is the feature to search for photos. But I absolutely hate the it doesn't move the picture when you create an album, it just creates a duplicate. I would organize my whole camera roll if it meant I could find the pictures after, but it's impossible to tell if a photo has been put into an album or not already. This makes everything very messy. I try to just use the photo feature on my phone (which I generally prefer) but then I change a device and stuck with Google photos again

Incomprehensible user interface, unnecessary options and bloat. Monetization of simple photo storage and a lack of simple abilities make this app the worst photo storage app I've ever used. Latest update is garbage. I can't move photos from one folder to another - they end up in some no man's land where they are on the new folder, plus still in the old folder, but actually not anywhere because of I delete one of the duplicates, they both disappear. This actually ends up corrupting the original file somehow and it can never be retrieved, nor even re-exported from Lightroom in the case of those photos. Plus, there's the old issue of duplicates randomly appearing for no reason.

It works well enough as a camera roll app. But there are some quality of life changes I'd like to see. Like being able to select more than one photo at a time to download to my device. I also get very, very tired of the constant ads in the app to order printed photos, get photo albums, etc. I really don't appreciate being advertised to in a core app on my phone and would very much like if the interface was streamlined more and those ads were cut.

I really like the flexibility of the storage options. Personally I find it nice to have 10TB because I love overkill. However I am trying to switch over from IOS but it's hard. Google Photos has no folders, nor nested folders, only albums, which makes organizing annoying, additionally I'm not a fan of the UI, Samsung's gallery is much better and it has folders. I just really hope more customization options become available.

Had to update this app 6 days ago, 30/9/20, now 6/10/20 wants updating again. Please give an explanation that makes sense. All I use you for is storing pics, am not building a nuclear reactor. Enough already. Why does this app require updating at least once a week. Bug fixes !!!!! If you have so many bugs in this app try rentokil as your programmers aren't up to the job or are not fixing the bugs completely therefore they keep their job. Not good Google, stop trying to take over the world.

Great app overall but some ui aspects are very confusing. For example, the app suggests archiving my screenshots. When I follow the suggestion it isn't clear what to do next (choose the suggestion card, select/deselect the images, click on the word "archive" at the top right of the screen). Why not have the suggestion take me to a yes/no dialog where I can quickly agree?

Lost all my photos because I thought they were backed up differently. When I backed them up onto a physical hard drive it was only a portion of them. Then I made the mistake of clearing out my google drive because google was trying to extort money out of me. I hate google more every year. So much for "free photo storage for life with a pixel". NEVER again.

Will not give you your photos back! My daughter "backed-up" my phone gallery with this app, but they TOOK all of the photos off of my device and there is no way to get them back other than to download them one-by-one! These are photos from 2003 to 2020 and had previously been organized into Albums. Google took all of the photos, dropped the albums and has them all jumbled together. I can have Google "sort" them by year, but it is inaccurate. There is no way to download them all en masse back!

I hate this app. They bring updates to it but they dont do any better. If you finally get a photo you want (the recognition is so bad), and if you accidentally rotate the photo then it vanishes faster than a comet. Second thing is that they dont allow auto- correct in PlayStore. I have already submitted feedback.

The app can use AI to make animation but it can't auto rotate the photos, wow!!! The feature was available earlier but they removed it. Now there are just suggestions to rotate and that to you have to do manually, furthermore that rotated picture will be saved as a copy. I mean why do I need two copies of the same picture. Also they removed the for you tab for mobile used.

The update sucks .. earlier it was a clean simple app ....easy to access and understand and now it gives me a zillion things to look . Don't know why Google has merged Screenshots into camera photos which gets backed up without a dedicated option to shut it .. same with irrational album covers and what not blaring on the screen when I open the app !!!

I love Google photos, with the multiple folders for each app, the organization, the ease of making albums and the ability to go from looking at your images to making a book you can purchase with the photos printed in it. It's easy to navigate, I love the notifications and the smart ability to keep track of old images we don't often look at and may not want to keep.

one problem i have with this app is that it deletes images off of my phone deleting the corresponding image in the app (i believe it might be because the app displays local images as well, but there is no clear option to display only backed-up images); another problem i have is that some screenshots and photos have been disappearing from my phone's storage after being backed up into the app, and i know that i've never used the "free up storage" feature or deleted the images myself to cause that.

Seriously this is the app you want to call amazing? I'm mostly concerned with making movies. And this app just makes it impossible to do so. To make them I have to select it from thousand random photos amd there's no option to choose from album? And what's with not providing the movie option on desktop? I fail to understand why google would make it so difficult for its users!

I love this app! I never could afford a nice camera in my life before cell phones came out. Its really too bad that this amazing technology came out after I gave up on trying to learn how to edit pics and make picture albums. But google photos makes it a lot more fun because it saves the time, date, and puts your photos together in an orrderly fashion.

Great app. Love the pop feature and ability to save personal filters. Saves all that storage on my phone by auto back up & unlimited storage. Makes collages, movies, and animations. Has a search feature and you can add a description to each picture. Sorts by topic, names, facial recognition, date, videos, screenshots, and by the app it came from. Archive feature & unlimited folders and albums included. Offers memories for all the years.

Now that google photos is updated it's different. Can someone please help me and tell me how I find my photos that I can't find ? Also before the google library was in order by months and now my pictures are all scattered. How can I fix these things? I also have 9bphotisbti be backed up and I have Google one but my photos won't back up and it isn't showing that much data is used. Can you give me some pointers?

Love the sharing capabilities with family. The stylized photos are fabulous! Free up space!! I enjoy the 'this-time-last-year' feature photos, especially since some contain moments I've forgotten - moments I'm happy to be reminded of & thankful to have securely backed up. Finding the pics I want is now a snap thanks to timeline, subjects, objects, and folders. I love producing my own videos of captured memories. Plus, the app simplifies using pics on all of my social media sites.👍

Good basic photo editing, photo search and storage. PROBLEM: @ 6 months it gets out of sync with the online version requiring reinstallation–after which there are numerous duplicate images. APP vs ONLINE. • App: Can't trash photo from within an album. • App: Can't change photo date. • App: Can't view photo to see which album(s) it is in. • App: After making a copy of an image in an album, it is not added to the album, requiring a search through your photos to find the copy and add to the album.

Nice app for viewing photos, but when playing videos give the options to forward or backward the video by swiping action like mx player, so that it can be easy to use. Also suggesting to give the count on number of photos in each album, including trash. Give the option to read documents and create documents and PDFs. Reduce our loads towards WPS office. The trash delete in 60 days which the time is showing is not correct. I am watching the photos from 3 days which were not deleting.

Pretty much everything about this app is good. The reason why I didn't give 5 stars was because the people feature has been giving me issues. I have 2 of the same person and I don't see an option/suggestion to combine the people. I previously had 3 of that person, but they gave the suggestion to combine 2 of them into one but not the other. Adding a way to fix an issue like this would be awesome, thanks!

Very nice👍👏 This app manages all my photos better than any other app. It's very helpful too. I have a really amazing experience with this app. Recently I have updated this app and it's updated version is much better than it's old version. It's creators are every day trying to make it as better as they can. 😊 -one of the millios of users of this app.

I think it's the best... I would love a duplicate checker tho, as I often edit and it uploads the raw file before I even hit delete. And I know it's probably nuts, but I've seen this request all over Reddit and other boards, and I feel like the only reason you'd ignore that for years is that you want my storage full so I keep paying... lol... I don't care, I'll pay. It just triggers my OCD to the max!

This is a worry-free backup system for my photos. I don't have to wonder where they are because I know Google Photos has them. I love how easy it is to make albums and share them with family and friends right away. You can even pick photos and order photo books and have or share them as memory keepsakes. Thanks Google for making my life easier.

My phone hangs and returns back to homepage/wallpaper when ever I open Google photos and scroll down to see more pictures in my other albums below. If am playing music, radio or any other thing in the background, it hangs them, cuts it, closes the app doing the playing. It's so annoying that as big as Google is am facing problems as this. I expected more from them. Poor!

Really good app. It automatically saves all my synced folders to cloud storage and helped me save more of my storage for more photos and things to remember. Will I recommend using this app? Sure! It's free. You can save all your photos on mobile and PC. (P.S: I don't take pictures at all so I only use this to save downloaded images. But it's still useful, I don't need to keep selecting photos from my file explorer everytime I collect pictures to upload and save on Google Drive. :P)

Google Photos has lost the "For You" category. I often get notifications of new collages and stylised photos, etc. But I have lots of notifications and regularly clear them. However, once the notification has gone, there is no place in Google Photos to find these Collages or Stylised photos, etc. You used to be able to review them at your leisure and choose which ones you wanted to keep or remove. Now you simply cannot find them at all. This has ruined an otherwise great experience. 😢

No options to move photos to different albums. No matter what I have tried, selecting photos, editing, etc , I have no way or options to move photos from one album to another within the app. The app itself is basically just a photo storage app to access the photos on the device. There's no way to move photos from device to SD card or vice versa. This is on Android 10 on a Moto G8 Power.

I'm tired of the Google photos best shot and the constant suggestions when I view each picture. A message pops up on each picture, either saying, fix lighting, order photo, rotate screen, archive, etc. It's annoying. Also, I don't like the best shot feature. I'll edit my pictures if I want to. I don't need these constant annoying suggestions. Please fix this. Thank you.

Google Photos, very handy and excellent app for managing gallery. Minor bugs and issues to be fixed. They are : Improve options for Viewing, Editing , or making changes in files on SD card. Zoom in option to be improved. Update with availability of zoom in option up to maximum limit. Developer please do look after. By other means Google photos is perfect.

Photos are stored in my SD card. But just this past few days when I take a photo, nothing appears in Google photo app, only a message that says photos not working. They are somewhere but not on this app as transferred files to laptop and photos are showing up there. Switched phone off and on, cleared cache etc. But still no photos showing in app. There is plenty of storage as checked on Google photo website. Tried everything. Not happy.

This app was pretty good up until the point that they bunched screenshots with regular camera photos. Meaning any screenshot you take will now be in your main camera roll, which is asinine. And to make matters worse, if you back up your screenshots, anytime you "free up space" it will delete those photos off the screenshot folder and keep it on the main camera roll. Terrible.

Excellent!!! This application is great for theme suggestions and trip projects. They will generate short movies, fix your pics and even create a new awesome picture by stitching different shots of a panoramic view for example. It has done a terrific job with my pics. It's perfect for someone who loves to take lots of pics but need help creating interesting ways to put them together.

5 years ago I left a 5 star review and I've loved google photos for a long time. With the latest redesign of this app, I no longer love this app. I find it confusing and difficult to navigate now, taking far longer to find what I want. I also hate the increased push to sell me photo books I don't want. With the latest update I used the app far less. I have reverted to the build just before the design change. If I have to update some day, I will no longer use this app. It used to be far better.

I've been using this app for 3 4 years now i backed up all my photos and videos to free storage. I don't know why but for the first time this happened to me i can't find any of my old data. Previously was using A20s but somehow that broke and i switched to S8+ now can't even see my older data including videos and photos. Got only data that's backed up with S8+ I've tried everything sign out sign in and all other things. I need my data back Don't know what's wrong with this app

There is this one feature I find very obnoxious. When you share a photo, it lists suggested contacts. This list is generated from your email and NOT something you can clear out. So, I emailed a utility company's support account and that contact now appears (weird pic and all) Everytime I share a photo.

Good from a standard user perspective but they've compromised the ease of use for anyone trying to do more than just scroll through old memories. E.g transfering an album from pc to the storage of an Android device. Standard functionality would be nice rather than just the 'innovative new ways' of viewing digital media that Google themselves push. I've seen this move happening for a little while , feel like they're trying to capture some of Apples market share. Huawei are going to eat you up.

I adore this app, but can we not add a simple locking feature with a passcode? I understand you can archive, but if someone has my phone they are 90% likely to find what they need just by using the search feature. I hate having to download other apps to lock photos when this app is so much better for organization. Just my two cents! Thanks you!!
