The liver, weighing in at about 3 pounds in healthy adults, is one of the body’s vital organs. It is responsible for many important functions related to digestion, metabolism, immunity and the storage of nutrients that the body needs to survive. Fatty liver, or hepatic steatosis, is a term that describes the buildup of fat in the liver. Fatty liver has become a common health problem. Early diagnosis can lead to the prevention from serious complications ranging from having increased risk of developing diabetes mellitus to liver fibrosis and even liver cancer in the future. It is helping the user to be able to determine the likelihood of being affected with this problem and educate him about what is the next step and how to deal effectively with it if investigations confirmed the disease.
