X-plore allows you to see inside of your Android device. And also outside.

This is a dual-pane explorer, there are two folders shown at same time, and common operation such as copying files are done from one pane to another.
And X-plore shows folder hierarchy in a tree view for clear orientation and fast switching to other location.

You may explore internals of the device, and if you're power user and have your device rooted, you can make changes to system data - backup files, remove unwanted applications, etc.

If you're standard user, you may choose to hide internal memory from view and be sure not to mess with system.
You can comfortably see contents of mass memories on your device, or possibly attached USB memory stick.

Simple app manager allows to see, run, copy, share, uninstall and further explore installed applications.

WiFi file sharing
Access files on your Android device from other Android devices over WiFi.

Access from a PC web browser
Manage files on your Android device from your PC.

Access to FTP and FTPS (secure FTP) servers is supported.
Multiple servers may be configured.

X-plore can display shared folders on other computers in LAN.

X-plore can access various web storage "Cloud" servers, and access their files.
You need to have account in supported web service, then you can access your files stored online through X-plore.

Supported is also SSH File Transfer (SFTP) and Terminal shell emulator.

X-plore contains music player that can play music tracks from any available location.

With Vault function, you can encrypt sensitive files, even by your fingerprint.

Main operations are related to managing files and folders - viewing, copying, moving, deleting, compressing to Zip, extracting, renaming, sharing, and more.

SQLite database viewer
X-plore can show SQLite database files (those with .db extension) as expandable list of tables, each table containing list of rows and columns with database entries.

Main interaction is done by touch screen, clicking on folders or files to open files, or long-click to open context menu which contains options which can be done on particular clicked item, or multiple selected items.
Multi-selection allows to do operation on more files at once.

Opening file may mean to use one of built-in viewer for most popular file types: images, audio, video and text.
Or you may configure X-plore to use system application for opening files, in which case system-predefined application that can open particular file is launched.

Archives (currently supported are Zip, Rar and 7zip) are displayed as other folders.

Paid user. Impressive design. Not easy to use early on but once you get the hang of it... One issue: Why do 'copy' and 'move' don't let me choose location? Am forced to use 'copy to clipboard' to Copy as well as Move a file. Please fix this or let me know if there is a workaround. Thanks. I read the manual. Exactly the same thing. Why can't it be simplified as in copy to destination of my choice directly?

apk Still the same bugs exist 🙄 why don't you fix the problem with opening archives that causes the list to suddenly scroll up or down uncontrollably?? It's not just on one phone. It's the same on my Moto g4/g5 and g7. Also the music player shows the wrong album art. Other music players work fine 😡 instead I see junk art from artists I can't stand. major lazer, Justin bieber etc. The app must be downloading this even though the correct art is contained within the mp3's 😠 still deserves ⭐⭐⭐

windows Amazingly well made app, the UI is brilliant in how much functionality it crams in without seeming cluttered. Even with more complicated setups like a samba server, it just works! My one feature request would be to bypass Android's default DNS resolution to allow for connecting to samba servers with an mDNS .local address.

I no longer have to keep the big and heavy Drive app on my phone for the once in a while i use it. Have used this for years and recomend it to everyone.

mod apk I love this app and have been using it for many years. Its the best file explorer app out there. But for some reason, on my new Samsung M31, it cant delete files from sdcard even though I have provided full access. Please fix, thank you!

    * * A W E S O M E * * by far X-PLORE absolutely is the most feature rich & EXTREMELY USEFUL app as X-PLORE is much, much more than any other of the all too many ho hum overly promoted big name & wannabee File Manager apps available - yes, you know the hoards of them - I know as I've tried hundreds of the other "File Manager" apps over many years. Pretty much all the were horrible, frustrating & a total waste of time or worse yet, stole my data... * LUCKILY, I FOUND X-plore!!! * X-plore is so much more than just a common file manager. Try it you WILL be AMAZED at all X-plore can & will do for you! X-plore is the first app we install on each & every device we work on. We even install X-plore on our Amazon Fire Sticks as it makes accessing expanded USB OTG storage so much easier & more reliable than the suggested ES file manager. X-plore definitely should be the Editor's Choice for a must have app for everyone.

When X-plore pays me for the hours I spent trying to fathom how it moves a video file between non-root-owned directories, I will pay it the 3+ beers it demands, to see if its vaunted Wi-Fi sharing works in (sadistic) Android 9 By contrast, if X-plore worked, I'd make FREE Youtube demo videos praising it, as I do for Simple Control (they don't even know, yet). I set up & use 30 (Win95-Win10) PCs, tested/installed >20 Linux distros. It's not like I've never used a file manager.

This is, without a doubt, the BEST file management app available for Android on handheld mobile devices! Ad free functionality is absolutely incredible. The ability to customize it to fit your needs is at a level that cannot be touched by the competition. It even has dual screens built into the app! Michal of developer Lonely Cat Games once took the time to correct an issue with the app no longer being able to access my account that was located on my school's servers. Simply OUTSTANDING!!!

  59. Tushar Chandwani-avatar

The only complete file manager for Android. Has a lot of features and easily usable that other file managers lack. Split screen is really helpful. I would love to Donate them a few "beers" to access all features and remove limitations, in fact I did only to find out it is tied to the device and not the account, so I have to pay for every installation! This doesn't seem fair. I have received a refund but I don't think I'll pay just for a single device access. Too bad.

Excellent App does everything what needed but recently i figured an issue with renaming. Whenever i renamed a folder its convert to size 0B dated to some 1/5/1970 file. Some kind of corruption. All data in folder is inaccessible and undeletable. So i lost all content stored tried reinstall and restart not worked. This bug occured in internal an external both storage. I tried other File man they renamed other folder without issue. Idk what to do. I was using xplore for 3 years.

Finally something I have been looking for. 3 beers is so worth it. A few things: Can you add more player control? The internal player control is very basic, would be great if you add scrolling (using left or right swipe), speed control (for both video and music/audio), memorizing last play speed, etc. Still learning the whole app, will comment more. Keep up with the great work Thanks

I have been using x-plore file manager since the days of symbian os. This is the very first app that I download on every single device that I own. But since last few updates, there are some changes in the internal players. I am not able to disable automatic rotation in videos while playing in internal player even if my device rotation is disabled. There should be an option to disable this from the configuration menu. Rest of the update is working as expected.

I have been using this app for up to three years now and it's hands down the best file manager I have ever used. I always try to install it on any new phone I get. The only downside is that it can be a little confusing to get used to at first because of the interface but once you get familar with the ui it's a great experience

Excellent. Extraordinary amount of work & detail continues to be applied / updated for this app. Result is a complex but efficient interface. Must be difficult for other developers to compete. May be some overkill for a few users but thats not a fault, just choice. 'Thank you' to the developers.

Always used this app in Android TV, now it's kinda useless. Yeah it's free but i can't even transfer via wifi anymore because it asks for donation... Well might as better make it a payed app because asking for donation and locking features behind it is just a "Pro feature". There are more alternatives in the store, just avoid this one.

  69. Roland Spencer-avatar

Used to be the best file explorer... but now it just flat out does not work. Trying to open a folder all I get is spinning arrows.... forever. Tried to copy some files onto a usb drive... no longer works (it just says collecting files... forever) Don't know what you did in the last update besides changing sdcard to storage/emulated/0; but you basically broke everything and rendered the app worthless.

Previously I gave it 5 star but now I frustrated with that donation thing. This asks you to "donate" certain amount in order to use the feature and that's why I am frustrated because this is not a donation this is called pay to use the feature and I don't have problem with this but don't give it the name of donation its very rude. Other wise this app is great. No other app matches in the market not even es pro.

The app works great, if I ignore the crashes from time to time. The crashes seems to be related to broken image files or broken image thumbnails (or both?) but usually clearing the cache or rename the file that caused the crash using other app (like built-in Android file browser from Settings) will help temporarily. I wish they add support for creating 7zip archive (in addition to zip, which is already exist in the app) and support for HEIC images in the image viewer on my Android 8 (Oreo).

My suggestion is to never, ever implement a functional that is confusing to users.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD FOR WIFI SHARING. worked fine before, after the last update using the wifi sharing is disabled unless you "donate" money to the creator of the app... there are way better file managers available, this feature was the only thing that made your app worth downloading. it's a shame...

In the "about this app" section in Google Play the developers have not marked file sharing as a need-to-pay feature, yet at a very inconvenience time I just found out that it is (trying to share via Whatsapp). I really wished people wouldn't lie so much just to get their apps installed.

This is a new find for me. After having used older file managers for years I'm finding this one extremely comprehensive yet easy and simple to use. The use of full file names as opposed to the Samsung file manager keeps me from feeling frustrated. Totally love and recommend this app.

AUGUST 4, 2020 As of approximately the 1st of August X-Plore displays as Full Sized when I do NOT want it to and have NOT checked the setting. I uninstalled the Beta Version (twice) and reinstalled latest stable version but it will not minimize. It blankets my screen and I have to press Exit just to get to my Home Page. :( I'm on an LG Stylo 4 w/Android 9 (Pie).

If I could give you 10 stars I would. The interface is great, the features work great. This app has saved me countless hours I've spent fighting similar apps that don't set permissions correctly, or unable to find network devices/external storage. Great job guys.

I'm pleased with this file manager, and I have used quite a few. It has some unique features. I'm also impressed and grateful that after I gave some feedback to the developer, he made a couple improvements. Though I haven't fully explored the application's features, those points are enough for me to recommend it.

It would be the best file manager, but not very convenient if you use it not too often. The interface requires some skill for file manipulations. I want to have single pane interface option and non-tree view of file list. I use LCG apps since Symbian 6.0 :)

The best file manager of all! I've tried many of them and none come close to working as well as X-plore. I've been using it for a couple of years now and I make sure to download it on all my Android devices. I'm able to access my files in different clouds and transfer files between them if needed as well as move, rename, copy, etc files on my tablet and phone. I couldn't ask for a better file manager, honestly. 👍👍

A good All-In-Filea-Mnager similar to <>. The best thing about this one is it's integrated mediaviewer, that keeps you in the filemanager. There is still a lot of room for growth, thus only 4 ⭐ from me. Keep going!

I do like this free tool. Up to a moment I found that some features have to be enabled by making donations, I did, and after that I found it worth every cent! This tool does allow you to connect to most of the available cloud storage services, and you can manage them all in one place, and copy/move action could work in the background. I appreciate to the this tool created and maintained.

This is my new favorite file manager, the UI and layout are far beyond what other apps are doing and looks great. Its great for power users, its so easy to manage and move data around from different servers and protocols located around the world. It's pretty crazy being able to do all of this in one place on your phone, big thanks to the dev for this.

Do you need a file manager that does it all (including proper LAN access) and has a great bunch of viewers and players to boot? Are you nostalgic for Norton Commander? Look no further! With the exception of the confusing, "beer-based" paid feature system, this is a gorgeous little app that does what it says on the box.

Love it! Wish I knew why it's intercepting "mailto:" links, though... First of all, I love this app; it's indispensable if you need to poke around in your phone's file system. If you've ever needed to move files around, edit a config file, or clean up after a misbehaving (other!) app, X-plore is what you need. However, today I'm running into a mystery, and this review seems to be the only support forum. I'm testing an app, and whenever I tap "Contact support", X-plore opens instead of GMail. If I uninstall X-plore, or try it on another phone, the link works fine. Can't find a setting for this under Configuration, or any hints in the online manual.

Here's info on the app. Easy to use, organized, has a computer format. The application takes about 18 Mb of storage, it has the ability to open many different files, play internal music (access to background music), access flash drives, access your storage internal, sd card, etc. Do I regret buying this or installing it, no not at all. This is the biggest application change for me. I no longer need a computer access for my smaller stuff. 5 stars through and through.

I needed to move some ebooks from one folder to another on my fire 8 hd, so connected it to my pc... couldnt see the ebooks at all. Installed x-plore file manager and did it all from the fire 8. LOVE the split screen. I've uninstalled all the other file managers. This is the only one I need now. A lot of thought has gone into the design of this app. Well done to the developer.

This is the best Android file explorer that I have ever used. and I have tried many...many. The dual pannel is superb. It has many usefull functios for working with Linux. It is a small price to pay for so many features - such as SFTP, SSH, Vault etc... I just wish the native editor would have some usefull functions for code editing - specially bash files.

I've come back to edit my review and honestly i couldnt recommend this app enough. Definitely worth donating for the pro features to enable your phone to be connected to everything else with just a tap of a button or two.

Love this app for all it's very good features. But using it to move files has caused the used storage size to increase tremendously. When I went in to add up the size of each file, the total is much less than the used size show on X-plore in my Galaxy Tab A for a long time. Now the same happened on my thumb drive I used to move files over from my Galaxy Note 8. The worse is, files I moved over from my Note 8 to thumb drive are gone (am sure I checked they exist before unmounting thumbdrive

This is my default file manager. It uses the old style two-pane view for copy paste between folders. Includes a media and PDF viewer that work well. Actually, includes a ton of things. The best part of the paid version is the wifi transfer option: hosts a wifi ftp to transfer files between devices without needing an app on the client.

  100. SoggyFries-avatar

Solid performance in regards to the LAN connection/sharing. Other file explorers that I've tried would not co connect but X-plore will have no problems seeing my Samba shares. Only minor gripe is that UI could be cleaned up a little. The tree layout can get messy with many folders open but for the rock solid performance and little to no ads, that is small peanuts.

The most useful file manager /utility in existence for Android, at least that I have been able to find, and believe me I have tried many similar apps. X-plore File Manager has more features than all other competing apps and the features are very useful ones at that, plus new features are added from time to time through the play store app update process. X-plore is also bug free in my experience. While the interface / UI may seem quirky at first everything about the UI makes complete sense.

I will generally try anything that has "X" in the name. Excellent credible file manager app for power users. This app (as well as Profimail) I've been used since Nokia s60. This has a learning curve, yes but once mastered it's incredibly powerful. It's actually very well designed and for free it does all the standard stuff with only a couple of things asking for a small donation. The interface is unique, but mimics the legacy interface and I hate "material design" anyway with the dumb floating button and menu right up the top.

This is THE most productive&comfortable file manager I've ever used.It has every basic and advaced feature I need; for example,it lets you sort files AND folders. It has its own suite of services that are integrated very well, such as the image viewer and PDF reader, yet it still allows you to open your files externally. It's interface is made to be simple&intuitive without compromising on features.I just wish they'd add the ability to view folder sizes in the explorer directly (beside No. of files)

This thing seems to do everything, only problem I've found though is there is no instructions, that is that I could find, so I've spent far too much time trying to open up a file and can't seem to remember how I opened it because I tried so many ways that I forget which way it was that I did it. It's an awesome app from what I can tell. Just wish it had a page on instructions. As of 5-11-2020 I now love this app because I can read the directions how to use. This file app pulls up some serious info. Even if your phone is secretly hacked nad rooted, but doesn't show up as rooted by those other root checker apps. This app not only pulls the hidden root files up, dut also shows you what's in the files and allows you to erase some of the files. After that I was able to do a hard boot and erase getting rid of the files and then restore from an account that I have.

The best LAN-wide file manager of its kind... One suggestion is to have a "favourites" folder of shortcuts, so I can reduce the (large) number of screen taps to get to my destination folders on my various PCs and NAS boxes on my LAN. Of course, nobody ever reads these reviews, so suggestions are pointless!

Was a great free app until the last update 14/07/2020 where now I have to give a donation to use the WiFi file sharing to the download folder (that was free before) Just a tip if you want a donation don't try and make someone do it as they normally won't. I'll be finding another app because of this. Why should I have to now pay when something was free before!

if you were able add extensions then it'd be a 5* app. the ui is great imo and there's a lot of feature. by adding extensions you would be able to for eg add features like generating links for online cloud storage or add a button on the sidebar(I'm not sure what it's called) like there's a button for rename for compressing apps into 7z and zip.

Been using x-plore since symbian. It has been my go to file manager since forever until I bought a usb-c flash drive for my xiaomi phone. All other apps can interact with the OS(MIUI) default usb otg implementation including files by google, cx explorer, mix explorer, xiaomi file manager. Only x-plore could not do so. Using x-plore's otg driver is not an option since my drive is exfat and I use my flash drive to store movies and shows which I can't open with VLC since using x-plore's otg driver means that only x-plore can access the drive. I can confirm that the flash drive works on x-plore since I've tried it on a samsung device running oneui 2 android 10 and the usb drive shows up in explore normally.

I love the file manager. Best I've used. And I donated. So why the three stars? Because I donated and the app keeps asking me to donate more. So what's my incentive? It just keeps nagging me anyway so I'm not donating anymore. And I'm disappointed for donating in the first place. I did it because I like the app, not because of the annoying asks but I do not want to see them since I did.

This is surprisingly feature-rich. It doesn't follow some of the usual UI conventions, but the small learning curve to get used to the interface is well worth it. Arguably, some of X-plore's interface design decisions are superior to the standard conventions.
