Well, this used to be my go-to app for file management, but I guess this is goodbye. I tried to add SMB shares recently to it, and it just crashes. Tried again 2 weeks later, no improvement. So I came here to provide feedback, saw the other recent reviews, and, aight I'm out. I've had to use another app to do SMB.

signs Over the last 2 weeks, I have installed this app 3 times, and every time I try to use it, it immediately crashes. It used to work well before, but has not worked at all fir the last 3-4 weeks. I tried updating the Android app, but still get the same result.

chart Gotten better but still has got a lot of bugs. You delete one picture and then it says you have 0 pictures at all, then you have to back out and come back...and the picture you deleted is still there. Bugs like that.

astronomy I am using this app on my galaxy s10 plus. it functions well with a few exceptions. the first being some photo thumbnails not rendering correctly. and the second being that the option to sign in with one drive is broken. i enter my login credentials approve the sign in then it auto kicks me back to the sign on screen in an endless loop. for this reason am knocking off two stars. will update review if this gets fixed.

  5. João Rocha-avatar

    João Rocha

astronaut First I rated it 5 stars because it's a really useful app to move files from the phone and my cloud accounts, and vice versa. But it's getting weird that it does not sort the files and folder by name properly, when you name them starting with numbers! Example: It sorts like this: 1 - Folder one 10 - Folder ten 11 - Folder eleven 2 - Folder two I mean.. 2 is not higher than 10, right? Please revise the sorting strategy and I'll change my review.

astro Very Incomplete. Has been on my phone for over a month, but didn't collect the majority of my images or other categories, during this span. Some of the startup page's option buttons open to absolutely nothing. Used this app ten years ago, finding it very effective. Unfortunately, no more. Disappointed and Uninstalled.

  7. Neal Bierbaum-avatar

astrolabe Warning. This app now requires that it can track and monetize all of your tablet app usage! I have used this app intermittemtly for several years. It was reasonably functional. Then I just opened it after an update and it took me to a page that said it wanted track all of the app usage on my tablet. I could say no, but then it took me to another page that could only be exited by agreeing to this tracking. Obviously I can accept ads to pay the developer - but agreeing to spyware? Uninstalled.

  8. Diego Rodrigues-avatar

astro a50 This is a good looking, functional, easy to use file manager. I prefer it over the default Android file manager. Only reason I gave it four and not five stars is there is no built-in audio player. Of that was also covered by Astro I would've given it 7 stars.

  9. Greg Dodds-avatar

    Greg Dodds

astro a40 Used to be great for one touch backups of updated apps. Backups no longer working with the latest versionand the grid layout option is gone, so you must endlessly scroll down to find apps. Also the intrusive data collection is the final straw

  10. Andrew Suderman-avatar

    Andrew Suderman

astrocartography It does what is says it does, no BS. It finds files better than the Android default apps do. I've used Astro for years now. I can rely on it to work every time, and that's why I decided to finally write this review.

  11. Irtaza Ansari-avatar

    Irtaza Ansari

It is the best alternative I've found to my previous file manager i.e. 'Asus File Manager'. However, Astro File Manager can use few tweaks for further improvement. These are 1. Upon opening the browser and hovering over 'Home', 'Favorites' appears in a single row where scrolling is required and that the names of folders in 'Favorites' are chopped into 2 rows. A fix would be good that address these. 2. An array of option for asjusting the file icons to preference would be appreciated. Best!

  12. Christopher Reeber-avatar

    Christopher Reeber

I used to use this app very heavily I've had it since my first moto Droid, but recently it requires data collection. if you opt out it tells you to either accept or reconsider. So I have reconsidered and do not want anything to do with heavy handed strong-arming out of my privacy. Get over yourselves and I will find an alternative.

  13. Shilajit DC-avatar

    Shilajit DC

I really don't know who came up with the app lauout and design. The app is completely unusable while in landscape mode due to stupid top and bottom bands which are completely unnecessary. No support for dng/RAW files. Too much unnecessary functions like cleaner makes this app unnecessarily heavy. Was expecting a clean and minimalistic design but surely this isn't.

  14. Ashley Oliver-avatar

    Ashley Oliver

31 GB of storage was being used in my phone and I couldn't see it... I saw to download this on some forum and it showed me that telegram had downloaded 30GB of videos and photos to my phone. I was able to delete it all and change my telegram settings to stream only. Yay for astro.

poor customer service. send an email requesting help. it has been two months. no reply. also, astro file used to be good. the app UI is not just confusing but the app itself lacks quality.

This will be the only Storage and cleaner i will ever download. The interface is easy to read and navigate and it does everything it says it can, plus more. Great job to the developers.

  17. Scott Jones-avatar

    Scott Jones

It does a pretty good job of moving files between your internal memory and the SD card and the cloud. Think it has some trouble when moving files when file sizes are too big or when your moving to a drive were your low on space. Cant tell, seems to be files that are too big and it errors and stops copying or moving but doesn't say why or what file it finished or had trouble with.

  18. Tami Healey-avatar

    Tami Healey

I'm so NOT techy! So this is by far the easiest file manager I've found to date. I did cheat on you temporarily, but found the others to be a bit more complicated in design and instructions than I was willing to put my time into. I love how all my music and documents and videos/pics are right there as soon as I open the app cuz I can never remember what file my phone wants to store my stuff in. And I love that I'm not bombarded with ads🧡

  19. Tony Brodie-avatar

    Tony Brodie

I was uncomfortable with the privacy permissions. When I tried to quit the app it had disabled the ability to do so until I agreed. No way I'll use something so dishonest. Uninstalling.

  20. Jean Squires-avatar

Used to be good app. Could find other PC's and transferred files. Now can't even find them. You. Have to know address etc. Uninstalling

  22. P-avatar

Phenomenal...easy to use. There is really no other file manager that comes close to this. I would give it a thousand stars. It even finds pics and whatsapp voice notes that have been deleted. Love it. Love it.

  23. Shane Ludwig-avatar

    Shane Ludwig

I recently grabbed an update for ASTRO File Manager and they really improved their app. I've started using it much more and it's made navigating my phone files soooooo much easier. No intrusive ads and no complications.

  24. Leslie Barry-avatar

    Leslie Barry

ABSOLUTELY USELESS! Have tried this app four times now, and it's totally incapable of distinguishing between the internal phone storage and my SD card. When I try to move any (photo/video) files, it does NOT show me the option of moving to the SD just keeps saying the new destination is the same as the current storage! Yuk!!! NOT recommended. Uninstalled YET AGAIN.

Hi 👋… It's a great app which I've been using for over 3 years on my Android devices. Yet there used to be a great feature on the older versions of the App, which unfortunately removed from the newer versions. (I'm on version 8.4.1 now). The feature is being able to select up to 5 files to rename. Now you have to select one by one which is time waste, and efforts consuming. I hope to see that feature again on the next upgrade. This is why I rated 4 stars only. Thanks… .

  27. Joshua Lemke-avatar

    Joshua Lemke

Overall, this is how a file manager should be. It's simple and straight forward, and lets you do all the things you'd expect a file manager to do. But it's not perfect. The only 2 problems I have with this app: 1. The only error messege is "Oops! Something went wrong!" That doesn't help me find and address the issue. 2. For file conflicts, there's no "apply to all" option. So if you try to move 100 images and 25 conflict, it asks you 25 times if you'd like to overwrite, skip, or rename.

  28. Kirill Masychev-avatar

Got this app to access my network drive - ad free. It's awesome, my favorite file manager for sure. Clean design, you can pin favorite directories, and customizable home screen.

Great search app for my files on the phone itself and across my various cloud storages. Essential when I've forgotten where I put files for various projects. They changed the look at one point, so it's more difficult (for me) to navigate my folders manually, but I can usually remember something that lets me find a file in the folder I'm looking for, and go from there.

  33. Bora Turan-avatar

    Bora Turan

This one might be the all-around best file manager app. Sure it is missing some features like offline wireless file transfer options. However, you don't really need that in a file manager app as it is not used often and there are excellent dedicated apps to do that job. For me, what set ASTRO apart from other apps was how easily it handled cloud storage. In my opinion, this quality and the general efficient design is a premium feature. Which reminds me: THE APP IS COMPLETELY AD-FREE!

  34. Camron Dunn, LMT-avatar

    Camron Dunn, LMT

Has been a good way to manage files and apps - move from internal storage to SD card. I just opened the app and was redirected to the new TOS. Pretty invasive it seems to me. Nobody needs to know my location or what apps I use or what websites I visit unless there is a direct reason for it. A file manager definitely does NOT need that information. Uninstalling. Too bad as you DID have a good app. Alas, it seems more and more app devs feel it is ok to harvest and sell our information.

  35. Joshua Mounce-avatar

    Joshua Mounce

The last update on 12/17/2020 killed the app. Literally. It has crashed at every attempt to use it. I've tried clearing the cache, force stopping, clearing data, uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, even rebooting into safe mode to use, and done all this several times, but it remains 100% unusable. Used to be a great app. It it is officially dead.

Amazing app, my only problem is you can't connect to more then one of each cloud storage type. . .

  39. Lilou-avatar

The app is great but the sort is questionable. If you sort by name, A6 goes between A53 and A65 as opposed to before A53, making it a struggle to view anything sequential.

  40. Radio Bug-avatar

    Radio Bug

One of the first apps I install when I get a new device. I've depended on this app since it first came out and I had to purchase the pro version. It has everything you need if your needs are reasonable, and it does it well. I think in the whole time its been used by me its crashed maybe twice across God knows how many phones.

  41. ExileonMain-avatar

App Fraud! The app above is abusing the Google Play Store Ad Policies. Upon installation and attaching your Google Drive, it creates a new file inside your Google Drive. Not only are they promoting illegal Pharmaceutical Ads as a shared document, they show up when logging into Google Drive directly through Google Drive as well. Don't give them access to anything! Uninstall and report the ad abuse.

When I try moving multiple files at once (tap and hold one file then tap the other files), particularly into a Google Drive folder and using the "Share" function after selecting all the files I want to move, it, for whatever reason does NOT move all the files. It's happened multiple times and I double checked to make sure I selected the files I want to be movied.

  43. John Scott-avatar

    John Scott

i've used this app for ages and never bothered to really review one way or the other, but upon getting my new phone the app now informs me that if i want to use it i have to consent to data collection about my app use habits. "we need this data for our business"? immediate uninstall.

  44. Harold Smith-avatar

    Good app. If you want numbered folders to self-sort numerically, try this folder-naming convention: 01 (i.e. folder 1) 02 (folder 2) ... 09 (folder 9) 10 (folder 10) etc.

  45. Peter Williams-avatar

Bought the pro version that has so spyware or ads but like the others that did, this company then disabled our pro app to force us to participate in Data collection to continue using the app.

  47. Pedro Monteiro-avatar

It was the best file manager for years. Unfortunately the new terms of service are too intrusive and unacceptable. Odd (or maybe not?) that there isn't a paid pro version which allows you to pay with money and not your privacy...

  48. Christopher Storm-avatar

Interesting app. But I would like a better home page. Border and margins more calculated. Opening a txt, shows the keyboard. Can't add a ftp server without the sever to be running. And the Dark theme is more blue-green.

I've been using this app for years and have always found it useful. However, I'm not willing to let it spy on me. I understand the developers need to eat, and I hope they can find a less invasive way to make money. I'd gladly pay for a "pro" version of the app that doesn't try to collect information.

Like other reviewers, I think that this app has become a bit too invasive by asking for permission to collect data on all of the apps I use. No thanks! I uninstalled it instead.

The most spooky file manager on the app store. You basically sign your android usage away. The app requires "Usage Access", the only app other than the Google app that requires it. Invasion of privary. Avoid this app at all costs. 1/5

"with your consent" is BS. you can't use the app unless you agree to the terms of App Annie collecting data on you and selling it. the options are either "ACCEPT" or "reconsider and accept." like a kid writing "do you like me? yes or yes"...

Opening the app "asks" if I consent for the app to monitor a bunch of stuff on my phone. We're supposedly given the "choice" to opt out by clicking the "I don't want this" button... Only to be transferred to another page informing us it's mandatory, and the only option there is "I agree", after all. In small print there's a "you can actually opt out if you go to settings" , but I've already had enough with your games... I don't want to agree even long enough to disable it from settings!

  145. Charles Cosper-avatar

    Charles Cosper

The very first thing you open it, it demands to analyze the apps you use, and report back to the developer for market research. If you say no, it will take away the "no" button and ask again. You can't do a thing with it without agreeing to invasive tracking. Immediate uninstall.

  146. Thanh trong-avatar

    Thanh trong

The app "ask" to collect my personal data, when I click "I don't want it" , the app just say "accept or get the f out" what the f man. Such an illusion of choice man. Totally unfair. If there is a functional "no button" the app will still collect data anyway. The "ask" thing is just a away to bend the law.

  147. Rob Jones-avatar

    Rob Jones

Now uninstalled. I had found this app useful in the past - which is why I have given it two stars rather than the single one I feel it now deserves. Having not used it for a while, when I just tried to use it I found it impossible. The UI is unintelligible. Searches found no results when I know the files are there. It showed no files whatsoever on my SD card. If you can work out how to use it it may be useful to you, as it once was to me but for me, nope. Just nope.

I thought that guy above was being a little paranoid when I first read his review, but he's right, your privacy policy is no good. Collecting that much info so that I can use your app? I get that you need to push ads at me, but I would rather just pay for a full version that doesn't collect my name, phone number, contact info, browsing habits, apps installed, phone usage time, etc. than for you to subsidize development by selling off my private info (even though you assure me that you don't.)
