I suppose don't get the basic digital package. There is no "join the discussion" in the app, they limit the local stories you can read, and if you are unhappy and want to end the subscription, fine, but you need to pay for the full year anyway.

Decent enough app to deliver the news, however they place such ridiculous limits on the end users ability to read articles. I'm able to read only the first paragraph of most articles before I receive a message at the bottom of said article informing me that to read the rest of the article I must be a paid subscriber. What's the point of installing this software if they'll only allow you access to the first paragraph? No thanks. I'll just get my online news from the other thousands of news sites.

Updated Oct. 19 - extremely frustrating app. No attention by Star to this problem. I also subscribe to NYT work no probs like this Original review: Constantly flips over to other articles if you don't finger-scroll down in a perfectly straight line. If you veer slightly to the left or right, you exit the page to another article and have to swipe back and scroll down to where you were. Super annoying and distracting. Thinking of canceling just for this reason as I cannot get through articles.

I have a digital subscription but am blocked from reading articles saying I need a subscription. I click on the button to "subscribe" and then it says "you already have a subscription". Go back to the article and still blocked from reading it. This is a very annoying bug that would be nice if you could fix it.

This has got to be the worst info app that I have come across. You open something up but oh my.....it will cost you for 1 week or a mth. Unfortunately many people just want to check it out, they don't want the whole paper. My sincere apologies, others may think it great if they live Toronto however, l do not. I haven't lived there for 50y rs. I do the odd time want to see something of interest but that you can not do. I'm sure others feel the same. Sincerely, R. Davey

The bare minimum -- and hardly that. Links from other apps that should open in this one do not work. No commenting function. Poor organization. The Star produces some great content, and this app makes it harder to access than even a simple mobile site does.

Paper failed to open this morning on my tablet (again). This happened twice before. I am 79 and use the tablet in the morning. My subscription worked on the office computer. I have terminated the automatic renewal of same. RM

Outdated. Old articles still appears days after being written. Often get the breaking news from Google before they appear on the app
