Space Trader is a strategy game in space. It is a port of the Palm Pilot game “Space Trader” by Pieter Spronck, which is inspired by David J. Webb’s PalmPilot game SolarWars (which in turn is based on Matt Lee’s game DopeWars) and the 80’s classic 3D strategy game Elite (though it does not have Elite’s 3D flight mode). - Ten different trade goods are available, two of which are considered to be illegal but can bring great profits. - Ten different ship types are available, some of which are especially suitable for trading, some for pirating, and others for both. Ships differ in size, the distance they can travel, their hull strength, the number of weapons, shields and gadgets they can carry, the number of cargo bays and the number of crew quarters that are available. - Ships can be equipped with different selections of equipment, among which are several types of lasers, several types of shields, an escape pod and certain special gadgets like a cloaking device. - You can distribute skill points over your character at the start of the game, to allow you to function well in your chosen role. For the skills your character lacks, mercenaries can be hired which may have different skills. - There are more than a hundred solar systems in the galaxy, with different sizes, tech levels, governments, resources and special situations. These are not just for background color, but play a vital role in the game. - While travelling to another solar system, you might encounter police ships, pirates and other traders. There are several ways to handle such encounters. You can even force a trader to allow you to plunder his ship. - There are about a dozen unique missions and offers available, some of which may bring great special rewards. The game is available as free software under the GNU General Public License.

Just love this game. A beautiful port of the Palm game. Works out well. Fun and relaxing. Just challenging enough. Very satisfying conclusion. I just love it. I'd send the author some money.

Though simple looking, with not the best designed UI, the game serves its simple premise well enough. Thanks to the RNG aspect of it, and the lack of any concrete storyline, besides one-off quests (whose rewards on completion still leave a lot to be desired), the game has excellent replayability. However, doing the same thing over and over until the end, with little variation in gameplay, does make the endgame experience a tad stale. There is, fortunately, ample help mesaages for new players.
The Sharpened Element - Crafting
Honestly, I love this game. Played it in the past, others like it, but this time, I died in My first 3 games after hitting about 25k credits, and my 4th and 5th game crashed and didn't save. So, great game, but it needs some real polish to have a different experience every playthrough, and keep from crashing. Love the effort, and deserves 5 stars, but throw some polish on this game, really make it shine.

This might just be THE most perfect ver. of Elite ever. The levels of difficulty are just right and the randomized galaxy with each new game terrific. Love the dark theme The programmer is brilliant in that there is one simple save game file (in it's own folder) which you can back up or restore to other devices!!! YES. I like to play on different devices... so this is perfect! Combat is handled nicely (Master of Orion style). Love the News feature! Dynamic trade model and inventory. Great!

A great port for a very fun game based on several great predecessors. Great gameplay that doesn't demand a very new phone to play. Free! No ads! No inap purchases! It's awesome and so is the developer who ported it and the original creators of this game and the creators of the games this one is inspiredby!

tbh im actually loving this game. its a bit complicated at first. But if you just keep track of prices youll do well. In my own opinion this is a great game to start looking at if you want a fun way to learn the very basics of trading in real life.

I love the open world feel of this game, I would recommend having different planets be in different factions so of you're wanted by one faction you're still good with the rest, I think you should even have the option to be a soldier for one of these factions and battle other fleets.

Wow! Exceeded my expectations. Caution: very addicting. The first night I downloaded this I probably was sucked in for at least 3 hours. Great simple game. 7/5 Stars! (would love an option for a dark theme though)

Fun game and great time killer. Unfortunately, for the last while, the game does not save and so every time I open the game, it is a brand new game. I don't often have time to play a complete game in one sitting.
