Space Trader is a port of the Palm OS game of the same name, created by Pieter Spronck. A classic among Palm gamers of the era, it was named Freeware Game of the Year by Handheld Computing in 2000. This Android port faithfully reproduces the original game. Your goal is to earn enough money, whether by honest trading or other, seedier means, to retire to your own moon. Buy goods on one planet to sell to another, but watch out for space pirates! If you're tough enough, hunt down pirates to earn rewards. If that seems too above-board, try smuggling illegal items for spectacular profits. Or, if you'd rather, become a pirate yourself and rob other traders of their goods. Be careful, though. The police take notice of illegal activity... Just like the original, Space Trader for Android includes: • Four different skills with which to customize your character. • Ten different trade goods, two of which are illegal but very profitable. • Ten different ship types, some well-suited for particular play-styles. • More than ten different ship upgrades, some of which are common, and others only available as rewards for particularly noteworthy deeds. • Over 100 unique worlds randomly generated for each new game. • Over a dozen missions and special encounters, if you can find them. This Android port also has new features: • New high resolution reproductions of the original in-game graphics! • Five different themes! Choose between light or dark versions of Android's Holo and Material styles, or truly bring back the past with classic Palm colors. • Optionally randomize quest systems. No longer return to the same places over and over again every game! • Line-by-line examination of the original game code led to over 15 bugfixes included in the port. • Optional UI updates including extra shortcuts, zoom gestures, and animations. Nostalgia! I played this game decades ago, and I was looking for something like it. I didn't expect to find the exact thing I was looking for! The game holds up surprisingly well. It was really well done for the time. Thank you for putting this out there.

I love the additions in this port. Everything works as expected. Just like the old game! Tommy French, try a different character name. All you other complainers go back to your auto play/idle games. This game takes thought and patience. You are building your wealth through different systems that are randomly placed through. Some Hi-tech systems are what you want to focus on when it comes to ships and equipment. They sell everything. Take some time to actually figure out the game. It has in-game help. Tap the top left corner of the game window to bring up the menus.

Space Trader is an extremely bare bones game. It does what it says but not much more. I sort of feel that more is needed for this type of game as one playthrough will have you seeing all there is to see. Still, it isn't terrible and if you like trading games then it is fine. At the developer* - You need to make the drop down menus a little more obvious. Was scratching my head for a while wondering why I didn't have weapons after buying a new ship. Could perhaps have a randomized galaxy mode too.

Got a bit hooked on this game, but have to admit it's not as strategical as it should be and is still buggy. Prices don't really change much, and civilization/economy type could be disregarded no probs. OP Pirates 1 hits players before they could Set Up on hard mode, and if you manage to get stronger, the game becomes too easy. Won't be much of a problem if quests aren't buggy like the "Jarec" one. Game assumes there's no space for him even if there is. Hoping for improvements, Thanks Devs!

Omg I cant believe I stumbled across this game! Excellent job here - this is identical to the original on Palm OS. (You kids dont remember PDA's, do you? :p ) I am not into text games, but this game is so much fun. And forget the other "space trader" on Play store with the better rating. THIS is the good one. The other one is nothing like the original.

It's pretty fun until you get like 150k credits, you're trafficking weapons for a profit margin, a pirate ship somehow takes away half of your health and insta destroys you, I have insurance and a escape pod, so atleast I get rescued, but now my 70k credits worth of weapons are gone, and I'm left with a flea, I upgrade to a bumble bee, and guess what, a pirate ship also does 50% of my health and insta destroys me when I'm trafficking narcotics, and I didn't bother to get an escape pod 😐
