Complicated and not user friendly and unnecessary. You could use 2FA via phone number or email address instead of this cumbersome app doesn't work very well
Jeff Magill
Using this app is completely unnecessary. Any authenticator app will work. I setup 2FA with my Yubikey Authenticator and key no problem.

Too good to be true. I was happy the first 5 minutes, an Android synology app that actually works. I started porting them in one by one until I got the message "You have reached the maximum number of OTP profiles, please remove some profiles and try again" Really? Don't invest your time and effort in it... Allows 50 max.

I'm amazed this works but it does. I finally got one host scheduled for backup using iSCSI I think. Now I just repeat for my other server hosts and I will have a full AD Domain hosts and servers backed up. For NO extra charge over the hardware. Synology, tentatively, you are AWESOME! Completely worth the money in every way. Thank you for enabling me a disabled user with poverty level income to save up and do something amazing I've been seeking for years! SIX STARS!!!

So far so good. Has been authenticating every DSM login the first try. Using it on Samsung Note 20 Ultra.

The sign in notification to approve login hasn't worked as a push notification but the OTP works great.

This application is the only way to add 2FA to your Synology account and that is terrible security practice. They don't even give the option of receiving an OTP via email or text like every other major service. Mobile devices are notoriously insecure and to store your private key (that the OTP is derived from) on your phone is just asking for trouble. They could have at least made it compatible with hardware keys like Yuibkey. It seems that care more about data collection then security.
Kirk Rader
Too buggy to be usable. Requires setting up each time it is used to log into the Synology web site as if it had never been configured on a given mobile device, thus defeating the purpose of avoiding easily spoofed SMS based authentication schemes.
Anthony DiBari
They're now forcing you to install thier own proprietary authenticator app when you used to be able to use any of the already available universal ones like Google authenticator or other open source variants. This is another example of a company getting too large and abandoning its roots by creating proprietary software and forcing the long-time users to conform. There's zero reason to invented a new proprietary QR Code formats in already over extremely fragmented app space, straight up greedy.
Jasper Yeung
Very convenient and easy to use. But sometimes it says login error even though I have scanned the QR code successfully. I have to scan the same QR code 3 times to setup Secure SignIn successfully in this app.
