requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

create accounts and set passwords
Allows the app to use the account authenticator capabilities of the AccountManager, including creating accounts and getting and setting their passwords.

take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

download files without notification
Allows the app to download files through the download manager without any notification being shown to the user.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

find accounts on the device
Allows the app to get the list of accounts known by the phone. This may include any accounts created by applications you have installed.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

read your contacts
Allows the app to read data about your contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific individuals. This permission allows apps to save your contact data, and malicious apps may share contact data without your knowledge.

read the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to read the contents of your SD card.

read phone state
Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.

read sync settings
Allows the app to read the sync settings for an account. For example, this can determine whether the People app is synced with an account.

run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

record audio
Allows the app to record audio with the microphone. This permission allows the app to record audio at any time without your confirmation.

reorder running apps
Allows the app to move tasks to the foreground and background. The app may do this without your input.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

modify or delete the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to write to the SD card.

toggle sync on and off
Allows an app to modify the sync settings for an account. For example, this can be used to enable sync of the People app with an account.

install shortcuts
Allows an application to add Homescreen shortcuts without user intervention.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.

The app is great, but there is one problem with it that really annoys me and bothers me. When I click on a link in someone's description that is supposed to redirect you to one of their blogs, it redirects you to a internet browser format that says 'Open in App' & 'Get the App' instead of just staying in the app and taking you to that blog. It's super annoying!

  2. guest-avatar

I can't recommend this app. It refreshes while you're in the middle of reading text posts, watching videos or even in the midst of scrolling. Shortly after the NSFW ban, their algorithms were blocking absolutely innocent content, and it hasn't improved too much. Tumblr overall is semi disappointing, but the app itself needs a ton of work before it'll be a good option.

  3. guest-avatar

I mean I still use it all the time. It has a genuinely unique platform that you really can't find anywhere else at all. The searching & blacklisting system has definitely always been one of my favourite parts. If the policies had been handled correctly it would have had a much higher rating. Instead they got greedy & got desperate instead. The lack of censor ship had caused it to be an amazing place for all kinds of artists, but instead of using it to their benefit they took it away.

Fun & Informative. You can find a Tumblr blog on virtually anything that might interest you. You can also repost content on your own Tumblr page to reference later, or to share with others who have the url to view your content. You also have the option of creating your own original content. I have not tried that myself, so I cannot comment on that functionality.

  5. guest-avatar

This was once a great app with a great community. But ever since tumblr brought on the nsfw ban, posts are randomly tagged as inappropriate even if they aren't, blogs get marked as explicit (falsely) and the tumblr staff never reacts to my emails. The great majority of people I knew on that platform have moved on. Have barely been using it in the past months, it's just not what it once was. I really miss the old, free tumblr without these algorithms that censor randomly right and left.

Literal garbage. Constant crashes and random internet disconnects, updating, clearing the cache, or reinstalling does nothing to help. Each update they roll out only tweaks small stylistic choices and never actual problems. Usually just makes things clunkier and less user friendly, like the recent change to the posting format that is so bogged down and unintuitive that its laughable. You're better off just using your web brower.

I love this App for its content, diversity and the community. I wouldn't trade it for any other App. Despite all my love for Tumblr, the owners of platform need to let it be open and stop this clampdown and add more Pro features. If you want a few dollars of subscription money...take it but stop making excuses or trying to convert it to something that it is not.

I would really like to use this app but I can't get started!! It sais I need to write my age down, until this there is no problem, then when I want to press 'next' it sais there is a measly little error or something like that!!! I pressed it lots of times, I deleted it and downloaded it again lots of times but it's the same all the time!! I really would appreciate it if you could fix this!!

It's been so much better than when I last used the app a few years ago. I really appreciate all the updates. I kind of wanted to see my blog tho, like the mobile version, so I don't have to go on a browser to see how my posts look. Nevertheless, I love everything, especially now that I've recently gone back to blogging. Thank you!

this app never works. I get stuck on a loading screen until I force close the app. Tumblr has went way down the drain EDIT: even with a stable internet connection the app isn't loading properly. I think the browser version of this is more functional. But I like the new shading the app is now it. EDIT AGAIN: Now the create post button is gone and I have no way to write anything. I'm just stuck reblogging others post ?????? Developers who debuggs the app before launching updates

  11. guest-avatar

The latest updates have been quite good surprisingly. For example the new music player allows you to pull it up and jump to different times, which was impossible before. The way tags are suggested on your dash in small collages is very nicely presented too. Impressed.

  12. guest-avatar

the search function on my blog doesn't work at all, read messages and reblogs/likes still show up as notifications, sometimes I get random error messages when I want to reblog/edit something even though my internet connection is fine. the private messaging system sucks, we need time stamps, and mine and the other person's messages should be on opposing sides of the screen so it's easier to tell who sent what

  13. guest-avatar

The app forces me to use portrait mode, forces me to use infinite scroll, and to top it off it interupted my attempt to use it to ask me what I thought of the app. When asked to explain why I thought it was terrible it glitched out and didn't let me put in my reply then sent me all the way back up to the top of my dashboard. The app is completely worthless and I wouldn't have even tried if for some reason tumblr wasn't working correctly in my tablets browser.

  14. guest-avatar

Honestly, I use it every day. It's one of the few places where one's online experience can be TOTALLY self-curated, and it has grown organically with me in a way no other social media has. I couldn't say enough about it, but to say that if you're tired of being spoon-fed your experience, Tumblr really can be the application for you.

  15. guest-avatar

I can't seem to message anyone anymore. It's frustrating. I've put too much into the new blog to abandon it again. Plus I have a few friends that I really like chatting with. Please fix the goddamn app. I'm pissed off now. I've sent reasons to fix and no one cares.
