ScaleNet is a "mobile Music Theory learning environment" for the young--or beginner musician.
It was developed by two college professors who employed network modeling to help clarify how many of the basic concepts in music are connected by simple, interrelated patterns.
ScaleNet's melody-game incorporates a large library of diverse melodic phrases which provide a constantly changing "real world" note-ID environment. The skill sets developed through the use of ScaleNet are applicable to Traditional, Popular, EDM, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Classical music.
ScaleNet provides interactive learning spaces associated with:
--Keys and their graphic layout on the staff (mirrored in touch-pads).
--Simple key relationships: Major, relative minor and parallel minor.
--Complex key relationships--and how harmonic progressions are nested within their natural order.
--Note identification employing treble, alto, and bass clefs within all keys in a timed play-environment.
--Ear-training through simple additive melodic phrases which are spontaneously sequenced
and which can be used for interval identification.
--Post-game statistics which allow the user to track ongoing progress.
ScaleNet's simple, intuitive, interface allows the user to focus on musical processes and ideas.
ScaleNet's "key-sphere" technology redefines the traditional circle of 5ths revealing new harmonic relationships.
ScaleNet's ear-training and sight-reading game integrates key information through touch-pad mirroring.

Overall it is an okay app as it helps one internalize the scales and notes. My one complaint is the inability to turn off the timer. It would be nice to just freely play without the pressure of the timer, especially for beginners, like myself.

THE PROGRAM WILL RUN UNTIL THE TIME IS UP BUT WILL THEN CRASH INSTEAD OF RETURNING TO THE MAIN MENU.

I love it! I only wish the playtime were longer, or could be taken off entirely. As someone learning to read notation, Id pay for such an upgrade, as the interruptions or timeouts are annoying. Thank you

The ui isn't all that intuitive, but it looks like it could be a good way too improve one's sight reading, but there's no tutorial to teach you before you practice, AND it crashes too much (Note 4; 5.0.1)

This app is a must have for all musicians. It's a little pocket dictionary for me, and it's great for practice as well. I use this daily as should everyone else reading this!

Looking for something to help me practice while on the bus, this app does the trick. Question: since this app utilizes guitar sounds to assist in hearing the note and iding the note, could a fret board be added to help with visuals? If this could be done with a piano as well that would be a feature that would help. I'm sure aspiring students seeking to major or minor in music would benefit from such additions.

well. looked interesting but turned out to be a total waste of space. pressing the note buttons does nothing at all. then randomly the first note will play. i actually started to think perhaps i am supposed to sing or play the note on an instrument so i was humming etc to it. nothing. but even worse, no words to read, ie what types of music from scales or anything. short review. was useless and the function does not even work. at all.

Beautiful, clean layout. The circle of 5ths key spheres are perfect for reviewing key signatures. Very easy to navigate and fun to play. Sounds and looks especially great on my Samsung Galaxy 6!
