Sharpen your sense of time! liveBPM is the tempo monitoring tool for drummers, bands and DJs. It detects music and beats via the microphone and continuously displays the current tempo in beats per minute (BPM). It is easy to use and delivers high-quality results while being energy efficient. ★★★ Detailed Description ★★★ This is a tool designed for professional use: - Well-tested beat detection engine guarantees trustworthiness - Can handle most genres. Produces the best results under the following conditions: -- The tempo is constant or almost constant -- Strong impulses are defining the beat (drums, accentuated rhythm instruments like bass/guitar, etc.) -- Time signature is 4/4, 3/4 or a multiple of either of these - If the music meets these conditions liveBPM will produce results accurate to within 0.1 BPM Further features: - Tempo curve shows the development of tempo over time - Multiple zoom modes to show last 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes - Advanced audio spectrum analysis via FFT - More accessible and usually more accurate than BPM counters that function through tapping - Relatively low battery drain thanks to high performance code and efficient algorithms Using it as a musician: - Use it as an objective tempo reference like a metronome - It actually has several advantages over a metronome: -- You are not tied to a click, giving you more flexibility -- Helps you use tempo changes to enhance your musical expression -- With blind tests, it can massively improve your timing confidence, which is especially important if you are in a tempo leading role (e.g. drummer) - Discover how/whether your favorite artists use tempo changes - Measure and improve your time-keeping skills - Identify slowdowns and speedups while practicing your instrument - Always be in control of the tempo during your live gigs and rehearsals Controls: - Power Button: For freezing the tempo curve and minimizing battery drain - Clear Button: Clears the tempo curve - Slider: Adjusts the target tempo, ranging from 60 to 200 BPM - Zoom Buttons: Switch between zoom modes for the tempo curve. (2-30 minutes) Note: In cases where the music is characterized by soft impulses, you may improve the detection by clapping loud to the beat. Also, results can be improved by plugging in a suitable external microphone pointing to the beat-defining elements of your band setup.
App ChangeLog

- Optimized tempo smoothing

original: Priceless tool for musicians! update: I would give this all the stars. Easily the most valuable music app. I put it on an old android and velcro'ed it to my wall. I never listen to anything without looking at it. It's changed my life. I'm not sure what's in the long-promised v2.0 but I'm very curious. I'm hoping it will be able to analyze the subdivisions once it establishes the BPM, thus showing the swing percentage for funk, hip-hop et al.

Picked this up around 2012 and event though it was last updated in 2017, it still works on my pixel 4 with current Android. Very dependable and worth every penny.

Just wow! I spent half an hour trying to get the BPM out of a song in Serato DJ and it was failing I even tried tap tempo,And that was failing as well, and then I turned on this appp and Wham it started to work within seconds. It could have saved me half an hour of frustration. Once again kudos to whoever developed this

They let you buy the app for 2.99 then tell you once installed it may not work correctly with latest android update, and offer no updates. Con

I use this app professionally everyday. Its dependable and has improved my drumming considerably. And, Mr. Bach is a delight to work with. Highly recommended.

Works with entire drum set, you start playing and it reads out the BPM after about four seconds then you just glance down at it once in a while to see how you're doing. This is a must have! Even recordes a graphical display,. The first time I tried it after about 5 minutes, I looked down and I was rushing about 6 BPM I couldn't believe it! I checked it against a metronome and it's spot-on. After about an hour I could stay within one BPM after 10 minutes playing. Easily worth 4 times the price

I've used this now for a couple of years as I play drums. Though my tempos are pretty consistent, the band I was with at the time needed me to be even more so. Since using LiveBPM and it has changed my drumming life. I have it installed on my android phone so it is with me all time; I never play a gig without it. At first I wanted to look at it constantly, but now I just glance at it when I feel a change to check myself. But it's not a metronome that you follow, it follows you. So it has helped me by allowing me to feel my speeding up or slowing down and make the adjustment. Kind of like letting me make the mistake and fix it instead of dictating what it wants me to do. A must for any drummer since we are the keepers of the time! BTW Daniel, how about versions for Windows and Linux?

This app is an excellent, must-have app for all musicians! Well worth the price. I've been using it for years at practice and at all gigs. The graph is a great feature. One request for additional capability is I'd like to be able to save the graphs. Sometimes I'm told my drumming was too fast/slow at certain parts and a saved graph could settle any arguments! One more thing- the developer is a fantastic, responsive person. I had an issue once and he replied immediately to help me. Great app!!

Fantastic app! I tried several other BPM apps to automatically read out BPM's of my hip hop vinyl records and none of them worked - not even close. The only thing that worked was to manually "tap" an app to count BPM - that is certainly not something I want to do. liveBPM worked immediately and it's FAST. Within 4 bars of most vinyl I tested, it knew the BPM. Perfect for setting up my records before a set to put them in BPM order. Money well spent as it saves me tons of time.

Not sure how well this works with other instruments but I'm a drummer and this is a fantastic tool to have. I often use it during live performances. I purchased a phone clamp that attaches to my high hat stand, where it's in easy view and out of the way. When you count off the beat to a song it registers the BPM within a just few seconds of playing and I'll just look at it every now and then to make sure my tempo hasn't fluctuated to much in real time. It really helps to keep you in the pocket.
