Take a journey into deep space to visit alien worlds around distant stars

Exoplanet Explorer takes you on a journey into deep space, beyond the limits of our Solar System. Based on the latest available data, you'll explore virtual models of more than 700 known planets and the star systems that they inhabit.

The full version of Exoplanet Explorer 2 introduces a feature that will automatically download the latest planetary discoveries, keeping you up to date. For the first time it also includes models of some of the binary star systems that are known to have planets, giving you a much better idea of the variety of different worlds in our Galaxy.

The data is sourced from The Planetary Habitability Laboratory, SIMBAD, and scientific papers, and if it's not available from one of these sources, then wherever possible it will be calculated or estimated, giving you access to one of the most complete exoplanet databases.

In addition to an intuitive interface which allows touch driven navigation through our Galaxy, Exoplanet Explorer also offers a comprehensive search tool which will let you find the planets and systems that you are interested in. This includes the ability to both search and sort by planet name, the number of planets in a system or even then number of stars in a system, to name just a few.

Statistics are provided to summarise the information in the database and give you a global perspective.

Planets have been divided up into 6 classes, and further subdivides into 3 temperature classes. This information has then been used to create models which are then assembled into working solar systems to give you an idea of what they might look like if we could travel there today.

Planet are divided into the following mass classes:

    * Mercurian - rocky worlds that have the approximate mass of Mercury

    * Sub-terran - rocky planets with a mass similar to Mars

    * Terran - rocky worlds with similar mass to Earth

    * Super-terran - rocky worlds with a higher mass than Earth

    * Neptunian - gas giants similar to Neptune

    * Jovian - gas giants as massive or more massive than Jupiter

The planets are further divided into the following temperature classes:

    * Hot - planets that are too hot to support liquid water

    * Warm - planets in the star's habitable zone where liquid water could exist

    * Cold - planets beyond the habitable zone where water would only exist as ice

* Please report problems at apps.burlock.org or email [email protected]. I can't help you here because Google won't let developers contact users who make comments.

* This app supports ICS, but custom ROMs are not supported. If you install a non-standard ROM and have a problem, then contact the ROM developer and report the bug so they can fix it.

I like this app. But there should be more information about the stars like their surface temperature and luminosity

I started with the free 3D version. After learning how to navigate my way around it I was curious about the upgrade to the 3D HD version. It is a pretty good deal for 3 bucks. I read a review of the free app where clunkyness was a complaint. Just fool with it for a little while and it pulls together fairly quickly. Most things take some patience and understanding before coming fully into view. If you like this sort of thing and you don't work as an astrophysicist, you should be pleased.

Maybe, someone could pick up where the developer left off; he's, apparently, entirely abandoned the project - no exoplanet updates, via DropBox; only 3 of 7 planets are displayed for the Trappist system; no one's heard from him in years... Otherwise, orbital periods are accurate, as compared with the periods listed in the Exoplanet Catalog.

This app is hard to maneuver. I can't get info of other planets. Always gives info about solar system. Clicking on proxima centauri does not give me info about that system. And none of the other options seem to work in a logical manner. Water of my money

Hi Neil I love your app Ive been using it on my phone since the first year it was released and the only thing I dislike about it. It came up recently a lot of the planets on your app have become discoloured for example earth looks like its in a nuclear winter with the tint of green and you can't make out any continental landmasses and Mars looks like a black hole. And it's the same with all the Terran and super Terran planets that used to be displayed with lush green continents now they look like ocean planets Please fix this and I will recommend your app to all my friends.

I have only just started using this, but I am thrilled with most of the features and expect to get a lot of use out of it. The subject of exoplanets is fascinating to me and having an app like this really makes one understand the vastness and mystery of the cosmos. Thank you!

Beautiful graphics and the music is a nice touch. It's fun the fly around the universe and check out other star systems. Definitely worth paying for the full version. Regularly updated.

Abandoned app with more than 4 years and no development. Shame. Was bloody great.
