Really like it so far. I bought the full version and don't really have any complaints. Had to spend some time clicking around the app to figure out how everything works. Edit - I feel like every time I open the app I get an Authentication Failed error, even though I can see my profile and my progress looks correct.

This is a the best chess app I have used. The ubiquitous complaint would have to be that there is often too much disparity between the main puzzles and the "lesser" puzzles. The latter help you when you get stuck by relaying the concept of the given puzzle but in a more basic, easily conceptualized formula. The lesser puzzles are fine but the main ones need a further hint or two before kicking you to the kiddy pool.

This app is structured very well, dividing the exercises into various categories. The exercises themselves will provide a challenge to intermediate and advanced players, and if a solution evades you, the app will breakdown the problem into a simpler version to illustrate the winning concept. Great learning tool!

Poor explanation of alternate lines. Manipulative interface that attempts to leverage your improvement to convince you to pay for the full version.

app is unwilling to allow the player to explore the possibility of better moves. on the very first problem i solved it, and then did the counter point and discovered i could fork the king and the rook with the knight (which was a critical piece in this problem). it gave me an error message and wanted to force me into what it thought was the correct move. chess is ALL ABOUT interpretation. you need a way for the program to allow for exploration of alternative moves.

Love this app! I'm happy they listened to my feedback. They've moved some of the notification bubbles (landscape mode, on a tablet) that hindered my speed. I hope that, eventually, small details will be improved. I own 11 different Chess King apps, and tell people of this company often. I really can't say all my positive feedback with the limited space here.

I wish I could give 4.5 stars Chess King apps are always high quality but most of them have two very noticeable flaws.... 1) There are no explanations on the puzzle solutions 2) Puzzles with multiple lines you can only "analyze" the last one after you complete it. If you don't understand the first line opponent played you'd better have an amazing memory or be taking notes. Other than that, amazing and high quality app. I've purchased about 10 of them and counting!

App is great except these automatic moves, supposedly these are the obvious move, then why make it automatic? If it's obvious then we should be able to find it. These are not helpful. It would be a 5 for me if not for these, I actually also bought the full package.

  9. B&K Bees-avatar

    B&K Bees

The puzzles are great, but I had a question on why my level 10 has only 26 puzzles, when my chess coach says there should be 120+ in level 10, and I cannot find an answer. I paid $8 for the app and cannot figure out if I received the full version or not.

The app has high quality problems, but the instructions and interface could be better. Explanations for some of the harder puzzles and longer combinations are non existent especially when finding a solid move that is not the best one. Without clearer lessons, i can't see payi g for more of the same.
