Here's how it goes almost every time I use the app: I start typing a word in the search box. The search suggestions load in, which causes my keyboard to disappear for a fraction of a second. In that fraction of a second I accidentally tap a word on the page that otherwise would have been behind the keyboard. The app then takes me to the dictionary page for the word I just tapped. It's getting more annoying every day :(

Too many cookies, no ability to opt out easily. Also very difficult to navigate around, I often end up on an english definition page or English conjugation page and have no idea how to get back to the translation from english to spanish or spanish to English. Very unfriendly user experience 👎

I'm a bit disappointed because we can't choose as many languages as we want.. At your first use it asks you which languages you want (for example french to english) but after you can't choose other ones, so if you need to translate a word into another language than english you can't. Despite this little problem I'm still going to use WordReference but only the website and I recommend it to you.

Translation is good. Usability is not great. It kind of switches by itself from translating to conjugating which is annoying. Also the X button to cancel a word before going a new one magically becomes a star (save to favourites) as soon as i touch it. Finally, of I tap on the typing box, instead of automatically blanking the space, it concatenates what I'm typing to the old word, which is very stupid. Then if I tap on the X.. it becomes a star and saves the composite word.. so stupid.

Every time I search a French verb it goes automatically to the conjugator even though I was previously on French to English. French to English is still selected and needs to be tapped again to return results. It would also be faster to use if instead of the star in the search bar, the X was there without having to tap the search bar

Extremely generous for a free service with functions this abundant and trustworthy! Edit: Sometimes in French-English dictionary, after entering the word and summit, it will jump to conjugator first rather than its definition, which is not what I supposed to select. It's not a big problem but a little bit annoying when it occurred, hope it will be fixed in the future!

It's a very useful dictionary which I use for Greek- English translations. I recommend it to anyone who hasitates using the app or just the website. However there is one issue that can be disturbing: when the app is open and some words have already ben searched in the related dictionary, when looking another word up it shifts automatically to conjugator and you need to go again to the translation section.

Edit Oct 16 2019 not working on Pixelbook or Chromebook Pixel 2. Looks like a Chrome OS / Google problem with WR. Error message now is net:err_err_no_supported_proxies. I have written WR and Google. I had another app, same message and after clearing data etc, turning off and on then reopening the other app worked fine but not WR. By the way Google tells me some app developers don't keep uptodate.

Very good dictionary!!!! It contains lots of words, expressions and phrasal verbs. But to be perfect it needs more updates and more vocabulary. Sometimes you can't find what you need.

I wanted to use the Japanese dictionary but there is no option to select Romaji or hiragana. The results always come up in kanji. This is therefore of no use to anyone who doesn't already know the language! What's the point of that?

Easy to use and impressively accurate. Occasionally, there will only be examples in one language (instead of both, which would be ideal), but nonetheless it's an incredibly useful app.

I love the app and the ability to quickly translate words within another app is neat. However, I was wondering if there was an option to set a default language. I only use the app for french to english translations but when I highlight a french word in another app it opens up the english dictionary and I have to manually switch to the French-to-English translator. If there was an option to set a default language that would be great. But other than that the app is great :)))

This app is so awesome, it's much better than Google Translate 😃 However, there's a bug affecting the pronunciation change... For example, if I select US or any other dialect, well, it does always default to UK-RP... While this is just a minor annoyance, it's still bothersome having to change it every time... So, could you please add a default language selector (in the settings)?

The website itself is great but the app is buggy. It will often randomly switch from the dictionary to the conjugator when a search is input. Just as often, it will stop recognising any searches you put in at all, so you have to restart the app. I've had this app on 4 devices so far and have had the same problems on all. nonetheless, it remains more convenient than loading up the website.

I love Wordrederence, to me it's the best dictionary on the internet. But the app seems to be bit broken. For exemple, everytime I try to look for a translation from English to French, it brings me to the "English conjugator". Why the heck cannot it stay on "English to French translation" why does it have to switch all the time, by itself to the conjugator. Please fix this! Thank you!!

I love word reference and used to really appreciate this app but in recent months it has just got really buggy. I gave 3 stars, would have been 5, but for the fact it just keeps stopping working nowadays. You will type something in the search bar, press search ....and then nothing. No response from word reference, just the WR screen. Tried force stopping, nothing. Reinstalling seems to be the only thing to work. I hope they fix this. For now, I have to use the browser version.

I used WR webpage frequently and was very happy to download this app because it is much more extensive than others. It also worked far better than others. But now I only get the following error messages EVERY TIME I search definition, translation, etc: "Webpage not available" "net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET". It's NOT internet issues; all my other apps and games work normally online. Wish developers fixed, but it's been like this for a while now... ☹

1. there does not seem to be a back button , to navigate back to the previous page. when reading through the discussions, sometimes one wants to go back to the original page to look into the other discussions, but without a back button the only option is to go back to the main search page or else to close the app. 2. The gray text on a white background is very hard to read. I wish this app had a dark theme with white text on a black background. otherwise WordReference is always a good website

junk. need to search an English word to get the French word. but need to hear the French pronunciation? Forget it because it's not happening. Sure, you can look up the translation but you can only get the English pronunciation. It wouldn't be an issue if you swap the pronunciations. website isn't any better. there are more problems, website included but too many to name.

Overall, I like the app. It bothers me that the favorite star is the default instead of the x to clear the search. I may search 100 words before choosing a favorite. I wish I could clear the search with one tap. I keep clicking the star by accident. I've been using this app for years and it's always bothered me.

I love it! it doesn't havw just the translations between 2 languages, but between many! and also a Collocations dictionary, which is very useful. Ah, and the Definitions dictionary too, for when you don't get the meaning from the translation only. I recommend it to all my English students.

It's very annoying that the "delete" and "favourite" buttons are on the same place, and every time I try to delete a word and type a new word in the box, it somehow bookmarks the word instead of delete it. I urge to solve this problem immediately and after that this app is worth five stars.

The word reference dictionary itself is 5 stars. It has no equal as far as I've seen. The app leaves some room for want. First of all, would love to be able to download a dictionary and have it available offline, this alone would probably bring it to 4.5 stars (currently have to use linguee for this). The only other problem is the occasional bugginess switching between the translator and the conjugator, not a huge deal, but annoying. Would also like to see a french definition dictionary.

This "English conjugator" bug that other people have described (when you search a new word, the app often switches from the dictionary you're using, in my case English - Italian, to something called an "English conjugator", for absolutely no reason) has been going on for several months now, and is very very annoying! there's no login option from the app. and once you're able to locate the login section thru the in-app browser of the website it doesn't even let you login with Facebook like it'll show the login pop-up but does notjing more. Excellent dictionary. Gives examples of usage so one can see exactly how the word is used. Notes when a word is no longer used or if it is slang. Also differentiates meanings by country. Easily switch between languages form a large choice.

the last update broke the app for me.too, afyer 1-3 searches, if my phone's screen close and then reopen the app, the search function doesnt work.

Excellent.I would give it five stars if it could work offline too but I imagine it would take a great deal of memory to hold such magnitude of information.

The app is good but I've found some mistake on it. Please review the translations to Spanish of "after which" and "any which way".
