I changed jobs and where I work has no signal inside the building whatsoever. I HAVE to download my podcasts. That's impossible with Stitcher. It gets stuck trying to download 24 podcasts at once. I turn that off and try one at a time. Nope. Doesn't work either. This app sucks. Switched to Castbox which is a far superior app. Stitcher is fine if you want a mediocre streaming service but for those of us that need to download because of service issues where we live, do not get this app.

  2. Wesley Routen-avatar

    Wesley Routen

I loved this app, listen everyday. But it has gotten so hard to use, it crashes constantly. I can't even browse podcasts because it crashes so often. Not to mention it just randomly stops playing a couple times an episode. I really want this to work but it's been months now without any fix. I've reached out to the company and send feedback everyday without any response. I hope this app will get fixed soon.

  3. Nicholas Bartlett-avatar

    Nicholas Bartlett

While the content produced for stitcher premium by the 3rd party content creators deserves 5 stars, the app itself chooses form over function. Simple things like setting a timer for when you're listening before falling asleep are cumbersome, and don't even function properly sometimes. I gave it a week, but I'm going back to my old player. Shame because I want to stay for the premium content.

  4. softballluver135-avatar

I used to love this app and the past couple months there has been problems and there have not been updates to address it. It stops playing ALL THE TIME so you have to go back in to press play again. No more listening to this app while working out! Also the app banner freezes and you have go force stop or restart your phone to get it out of your notifications. I'm about to stop using this app all together!! So frustrating!

  5. Hana Mareck-avatar

    Hana Mareck

For a podcasting focused app, there are major podcast ux issues. Eg search is unable to search for a specific episode within a podcast. Discoverability of frequently listened to apps is poor. Connecting to Bluetooth - using the "skip song" button skips to the next song. In Spotify it jumps 10 seconds ahead which makes much more sense.

  6. A Google user-avatar

    A Google user

Download issues are driving me nuts. I have this app set VERY internationally to only ever use WiFi for downloads, and yet I keep getting data spikes from Stitcher even when I'm only listening to pre-downloaded episodes! It also keeps losing my spot in podcasts (by significant amounts) and deleting downloads prematurely when I'm still listening/haven't listened yet and manually downloaded the episode. I use this app exclusively for podcasts, but these bugs have been driving me crazy recently. :(

  7. Lindsay Parsons-avatar

    Lindsay Parsons

I've been using stitcher for a few years now. I never had any trouble with it and found it so easy to use. They updated it recently and now I can't download an episode without it freezing and having to shut down the app. The layout is worse than it was and the usability of definitely worse. So disappointing. Looking for a new podcast app.

  8. Laura Maher-avatar

    Laura Maher

I've used a few podcast apps and disappointingly this one is the most frustrating. I never get notifications for new episodes (yes my notifications are turned on), or will randomly get them days late. When swiping away the controls in notification bar/lockscreen they will reappear as though the app is still active. I don't find the UI intuitive at all and always forget how to find my podcasts. Stitcher premium is the only drawcard for this app, there are better free versions.

  9. Dustin Wood-avatar

    Dustin Wood

I subscribed to premium but it won't activate, and when I try the subscribe button again I get an error saying I already have a subscription. I tried chat support but it's not actually "chat," it's an automated directory posing as chat support, and it asked me to send a screenshot of my problem. Useless.

  10. John Kalian-avatar

    John Kalian

Nice interface & I love being able to organize freely, but has weird glitches where episodes I've saved & downloaded will vanish from my playlist, or the entire saved playlist will go blank & then re-download. Often, episodes I had downloaded will then be unavailable again based on that if podcast grants access to entire past library or just a selected most recent. Podcasts also pause for no reason & it never leaves my notification bar. Their customer support 'conversation' section is a joke.

  11. Margherita-avatar

Cranky (ie. the minimized version regularly crashes), difficult to use (compared to other players), unreasonable manage of downloads (ie. doesn't have an option to remove the one you already saw automatically), terrible UI (ie. you can only move to the next episode, not the previous one, so if you hit next episode by mistake (and it happens since is on the same line of the skip next 30sec) you have to pass 3 different pages to find the full episode list). And these are only few examples.

  12. Chase Brannen-avatar

    Chase Brannen

For the app to listen to stitcher premium content that won't play. Its glitching and saying that I don't have premium, but when I click on it, it says I'm already subscribed. Wanted to listen to the rest of Marvels but I guess I won't until they piece meal it out.

  13. Cammie H.-avatar

    Cammie H.

Garbage app. Buffers constantly, and is unreliable for long podcast sessions. Blanks out all the time, and then you have to reboot the app to get it to start working again. Oh, and they also share your data and information with Facebook. It's just a "nope" all the way around.

  14. Zoe May-avatar

    Zoe May

I honestly wish I could give this app a positive review, but I often regret that I started using this app for podcasts and not another, because this is where my listen history is. The app just constantly stops playing for no apparent reason and I have to go in and hit play again and again, sometimes every 3 minutes or less. It also never leaves my notification bar, even when it's closed, unless I go in and force stop it.

  15. Brittany Gresley-avatar

    Brittany Gresley

I really enjoy the content on the app but the app itself is not only constantly crashing glitching but is so hard to actually find anything that you like and it doesn't recommend anything to you based on any of your past listens as far as an app goes it is absolutely the worst app that I have dealt with and I've dealt with Pandora when it was going through its glitch phase if the content creators of this app see this please know your content is amazing you're app is trash please work to fix it.

  16. Elan Athey-avatar

    Elan Athey

Such great talent producing these shows and Stitcher drops the ball with this horrendous app. Tried to sign up for premium and never once did it actually recognize I did. Wouldn't let me listen to premium content then when I went to sign up again it says I'm signed up buuut not really.

  17. andrew flood-avatar

    andrew flood

Finding new podcasts based off your listening history should be much easier. Going back to partially finished episodes means finding the show in your favorites list again and not just pulling up recent shows you've listened to. Honestly surprised by the terrible interface.

  18. Cody Wichmann-avatar

    Cody Wichmann

I was charged this month for the Premium benefits but now none of the Premium content will play and it keeps telling me to subscribe to Premium! And when I try to resubscribe with the link it gives me, it shows an error message saying I already have Premium! What gives!?

  19. ch ka-avatar

    ch ka

This app deleted all downloads on my SD card, hours of data when restoring the app after a phone reset. I dont like it. A total waste. You can't log out of the app without all your downloads being erased?? Why? What is the point of creating an account? Suspicious.

  20. Alexander Ramsing-avatar

    Alexander Ramsing

This app is really frustrating. I have it set to limit the amount of space on my phone, and also only keep the newest episode. It constantly tells me my storage is full and I have to go in and manually delete months old episodes. Looking for a new app.

  21. Alli Kollar-avatar

    Alli Kollar

I stuck to castbox for years because you can comment on podcasts and episodes, and creating discussions I would love to have. I subscribed to stitcher because they have the best premium options, however I still wish they would add commentong

  22. Andy Tawse-avatar

    Andy Tawse

The bar that appears across the top when I'm not looking at the app is intrusive and unnecessary, not to mention extremely rude, and any setting to stop this from happening is non existent or hard to find.

  23. cody raeth-avatar

    cody raeth

This app is awful, as is the website (no windows application? Really?). It doesn't sync across devices to save it's life. Half the time it doesn't load up podcasts like it should. I'll be happy to cancel my sub after I listen to the few shows that you've paywalled. I'm all for supporting creators I like, but of you're going to charge get the app experience right. Other FREE apps have been doing it for years.

  24. Robin van Gessel-avatar

  25. Jim Dodd-avatar

Good luck trying to find the settings to stop notifications and so forth!! It's there, but really buried. Also, you have to log in to even use the app. It doesn't do a good job allowing finding your favorite Podcast either.

I used to love this app, but a few updates ago it started crashing all the time. Worse yet, when it does wake back up- it doesn't play anything. It'll just do that annoying buffering spin around the play button.

Trash. I've tried this app before. Unistalled but tried it again after hearing it recommended by podcasts and with new phone. Terrible interface, doesn't really let you find what you, more like forces you to find what they want. LImits view of subscribed podcasts to 9?!? Why? Unistalled again.

A simplified Player that just doesn't do enough. The deal breaker for me was the skip song controls on my Bluetooth headphones actually skips the podcast, rather than every other app where it just skips ahead 30sec to let you skip ads etc. Also of annoyance is there is no way to group select multiple podcast episodes to say download them, have to open each individually and select download. Also can't just hide episodes that you've already listened to. Moving on to a more functional app now..

Adware, constantly phoning home and pitching ads for shows i don't care about. Opens up on their ad page, not the user's podcast list. Also downloads out of sequence, which makes no sense. Then, if you try to download a podcast and it's 90% complete but hits the desired gb max, will restart the download from the beginning if you allow an increased capacity. Lame all around.

  70. Susan Mosser-avatar

This has been a great experience for me. I listened to PSA when they were still on radio (NPR?), then followed them to Stitcher. Since then, my daily habit of listening to news on Stitcher has broadened massively. Stitcher is a glorious new way to give listeners access to a vast range of voices. I have appreciated getting all the news that's fit to binge, and for free. I will watch all the ads, I promise, if you just keep doing what you're doing.

  71. Kiki Malomo-Paris-avatar

Apps works pretty well. When there are bugs, an update is released pretty quickly to fix it. Only thing is that I wish there was a way to keep all downloaded but unplayed episodes in my playlists. Right now you can only keep the most recent episode (which removes the previously downloaded ep) or ALL the episodes. There needs to be a happy medium.

  72. Donne Elbert Mills-avatar

All of a sudden, Stitcher is so S-L-O-W to open, scroll through or move between podcasts. I love the ability to group podcasts into specific files. It makes it easier for me to find what I am looking for. Please fix how slow it is to load up or tell. E how to fix. I've had to download other podcast apps and they are working just fine, but I've set Stitcher up the way I like. Please help!

  73. Rilagooma-avatar

The app works fine when it comes to playing podcasts, and doesn't drain your battery. However, there is no option to order downloaded episodes in a playlist besides sorting them by date, etc. The new drop down progress bar is intrusive and doesn't go away for several seconds, blocking a large part of your screen until it does so, and it drops down every single time you leave the app, podcast playing or not. The UI is completely unintuitive, the menus are confusing and it's difficult to navigate

Love the Alexa integration. However, there is a big problem. When Stitcher is playing I can't use hands-free to make phone calls. I can receive a call and talk but I can't touch the earpiece then ask it to call someone. Regardless of whether or not I'm on the home screen or in the Stitcher app or the phone's screen is on or off- if I want to make a call I have to manually do it. That may not seem like a big deal but if the phone is inside my backpack or out of reach it's a pain.

  76. Phillip Schmidt-avatar

Works great. Adds have become more frequent & annoying mainly because the sound is often a whisper. I don't understand why. But this still is a very useful way to listen to what you want, when you want. It's just such a shame most programs are hosted by people who don't understand radio. And instead reference video. Someone should remind them some of us prefer radio.

  77. Rich Richard-avatar

    Rich Richard

I gave it three stars because, unlike some other podcasting apps, it actually works. However, the interface is awkward and not at all intuitive. I've read the manual, but still can't understand a lot of things. For example, I can't figure out the difference between "saving" an episode, and "downloading" one. Can't figure out subscribing/unsubscribing. I can't figure out a good way to delete episodes, or more specifically, blocks of episodes -- have to go through and delete them one at a time

  78. Blu bell-avatar

    Blu bell

I've had to reinstall it about 4 times in 3 months because it will decide not to play the podcast I'm listening to. It will stop loading then a Mic drop sound will go off with an error code. I've restarted my phone, forced stop ect. The only thing that fixes it is to uninstall then reinstall. When it wants to work it's great, but when it doesn't it's a real pain in the ass.

  79. Eleanor Hartwell-avatar

    Eleanor Hartwell

I like this app! Good sound quality, not too many ads, good recommendations. It also has a useful organizing system. I give it only four stars because it doesn't have every podcast I want to listen to. For example, the Flophouse and Page Seven. For those, I switch over to Google Podcasts. Another con is that when my podcasts end it will occasionally start playing episodes from other podcasts that I've never subscribed to.

  80. natsoray-avatar

Stitcher was never perfect, but it's always been just good enough to be my podcast app of choice. Recently they completely reformated the app, and now it's just a slow buggy mess. Almost every action takes 5-10 seconds to process. Im constantly waiting for things to load, it's infuriating. Guess I'll be switching to a different player now.

Used to be a fantastic app... But, for whatever reason over the last year or so it's been messing up and crashing. At first I figured there would be an update or patch to fix this but, like I said it's been doing this for well over a year. I've tried multiple different pairs of headphones wired and wireless and it still cuts out/crashes (audio stops with a weird microphone feedback for a slight second before cutting out) Im using a Galaxy Note 9. Please fix ur app.

Good, reliable, works well with android auto, best podcast app I've used, and I've been through quite a few, but I like to listen to multiple unlistened episodes from one of my podcasts at a time, and it seems to me that the developers really don't think of that as a main use case and I feel it's a bit of a buried option to get it to do that and there's always a risk I end up back on other podcasts or episodes I've heard already.

This used to be a great app. That was until I upgraded to Premium. Now it never saves my last location. . Usually reverts back to the time before my last session. Very frustrating. I have to search for where I was last in my episode. Won't be renewing the premium subscription next year.

Freezes and crashes when on 'Home' or the Account tab, with the message "optimizing for offline experience". It is when the app downloads recent episodes of my subscribed podcasts. This is on Android phone. (I also have the Podcast Addict app and that works smoothly, has more features, and equal number of podcast shows to search and select from.)

The Stitcher app is a tragedy. While the UI looks nice and is intuitive, streaming is high quality but seems to be relatively lightweight, the library is extensive, and battery use is low, nearly everything else is varying degrees of inadequate. Search is terrible, it forgets your place in a podcast or episode often, and will stop playing the podcast you want how you want in favor of a station very often. If you're not interested in the premium content, which is great, use another podcast app.

Was a good app initially (a yr ago) but now stops playing repeatedly during every podcast I listen to causing me to hit pause and play to restart. As of last week, the app completely closes when it inadvertently stops playing, which is even more annoying. I may try a reinstall, but then I have to reset my favorite stations. Ugh! If I have to do that, I might as well try another app.

It works ok for the most part playing the episodes but the interface is horrible, not intuitive, so hard to just get to a main page to scroll through episodes for a given podcast. The interface just makes no sense, will put episodes out of order, or just continues to play after hitting pause. I don't understand why the app isn't simplified to just be more user friendly, so messy, reminds me of using Amazon Prime.

Good content, but what a terrible app. I feel I have no control over what gets downloaded, simply deleting episodes is strangely impossible, the app and its persistent banner does NOT follow conventional Android behavior with clearing apps or the screen and worst of all it's obstructing a huge portion of the top of the screen. It's like no one learned anything from the late unlamented iTunes: when you do everything you can to make it idiot proof, you make it suck. Let me use MY app please !

Hands down the best podcast listening app. Whether you pay for premium or not stitcher is the only one you'll need, or want. The only thing I have an issue with is the new update has cause some playback issues. Offline/downloaded means its able to play without a connection, but what this app thinks it means full buffer, but you still need an internet connection. Aside from that pretty good.

I have been using Stitcher for 5+ years and have been generally satisfied with my experience. The app allows me to download as many episodes as I want, which helps my life immensely since I don't have reliable internet. I don't always like their updates, but the experience has been mostly positive and I'm still using them years later.

Crashes constantly now especially when you have other apps open and is so slow and sluggish. Certain podcasts are inexplicably absent or atleast can't be searched. Should be able to search podcasts that are also available in iTunes or podcaster. Please fix this app used to be the best one around. I'll adjust my score accordingly.

I hate that it doesn't communicate with my galaxy watch. With Google podcast(another failed podcast app) I was able to go back or forward through my watch where as with Stitcher my watch already says open on phone. I work in manual labor and having to constantly pull out my phone is irritating. Will be looking for another podcast app.

This app is FULL of bugs. I've used it for years and it frustrates me to no end. I'll be listening to a podcast and then all of a sudden it will stop playing. Not because I lost service or any reason of that nature. Then when I try to pick up where I left off it will not allow me to and I will have to switch to an entirely different podcast just for it to start working again. This issue has been part of the app for years now and no one is fixing it. It is so frustraing!

Enjoyed it until it wasn't updating the podcasts i was listening to. At first i noticed it on one, then on another. Had to go listen to them thru other sources so it's not like they weren't available on other apps/sites. Then episodes would appear and show up retroactively dating their original release dates.

The buffering issues are one thing...and I know it is a free app...but the new add structure is just ridiculous. Every time I interact with Stitcher a Zoro app will come up and hijack the screen. Even if i was just in the app a minute ago, the add will pop up. And i already have to listen to a GD Zoro app at the beginning and end of every podcast anyway. And why does every add for a new podcast have to be queer or ethnic based? Are you just showing your wokeness???

I love Stitcher. I used to use Apple's podcast app, but an update a few years ago left me lost and frustrated. I had heard ads on my favorite podcast for Stitcher, so I gave it a shot. I will never go back! Because I love the app, not because I don't have an iPhone anymore.

Decent podcasting app but super annoying when it doesn't want to close out properly. There's no way to actually totally shut the program down and every time you connect to your car's Bluetooth it will automatically start playing Even if you have YouTube open already. It is a very intrusive music player in that sense.

Edit: I reviewed the rest of my apps and found a different app causing the issue. I'm sorry being cranky and wrongly blaming Stitcher for the issue! Ordinarily I love stitcher, but since updating the app yesterday, everytime I try to do anything on my phone while I have the app open, stupid game advertisements pop up and begin blaring their loud music and noises. Fix it, or I cancel my premium subscription. Not pleased.

I don't know what happened with Google podcasts' new update, but it only loads 1 minute for me, then stops. I tried TuneIn and coincidentally it said I was offline. I eventually landed on Stitcher, and it works! I'm no expert and not sure if I gotta hand it to the developers or my device, but now I'm loyal to Stitcher. Thanks!

I almost never rate apps but guys, I just had to let you know about my frustration. All my favourites are on Stitcher Premium so I pay for it but the Stitcher app is just the worst app experience ever. It is clunky, slow, menus makes no sense and it really feels like that this has not been user tested at all. I obviously understand user experiences differ but I do wonder, am I the only one thinking that the app is not good at all?
