Millions of people use Signal every day for free and instantaneous communication anywhere in the world. Send and receive high-fidelity messages, participate in HD voice/video calls, and explore a growing set of new features that help you stay connected. Signal’s advanced privacy-preserving technology is always enabled, so you can focus on sharing the moments that matter with the people who matter to you.

• Say anything – State-of-the-art end-to-end encryption (powered by the open source Signal Protocol™) keeps your conversations secure. Privacy isn’t an optional mode — it’s just the way that Signal works. Every message, every call, every time.

• Go fast – Messages are delivered quickly and reliably, even on slow networks. Signal is optimized to operate in the most constrained environment possible.

• Feel free – Signal is a completely independent 501c3 nonprofit. Development is supported by users like you. No advertisements. No trackers. No kidding.

• Be yourself – You can use your existing phone number and address book to securely communicate with your friends.

• Speak up – Whether they live across town or across the ocean, Signal’s enhanced audio and video quality will make your friends and family feel closer.

• Whisper in the shadows – Switch to the dark theme if you refuse to see the light.

• Sound familiar – Choose custom alerts for each contact, or disable noises completely. Simon & Garfunkel wrote a hit song about it in 1964, and you can experience the sound of silence whenever you want by choosing “None” as your notification ringtone.

• Picture this – Use the built-in image editing features to sketch, crop, and flip your outgoing photos. There’s even a text tool so that you can add more words to the 1,000 that your picture is already worth.

Reviews From google play store

I feel safer using it. Too much privacy is invaded these days.

Very private texting app

Wonderful app

Pretty easy to use

the App works alright. PC Software doesn't show older messages. Transferring phones is rather impractical, or at least nowhere near as convenient and quick than with Telegram. Lately I got lots of "Notes to self" saying "bad encrypted message"... overall a rather clumsy environment.

Like the privacy.

Must have

No flash in camera

Best text app!

It good

Not great at sharing videos as it doesnt have the capacity to hold more than 30seconds or so. Very simple but good for privacy

Easy use

Great app!

Love this app!

My calls are not going through.😑

This has become my primary texting application. Convincing friends and family to switch is a challenge, but for those that don't, this app will still send standard SMS to non users.

App will no longer make calls still good for messages

Brilliant app seems very secure

nice app, but the design and logo just look awful. none of my friends even considers it for this reason

One of the few apps these days that does not police on everything you type or say. It makes it harder for others to spy on you too.

Could be way more secure

Great app.

Group messages did not import over from verizon messenger. Sending pics on fb messenger is more user friendly. Creating new group chats is not as easy as other apps. Everything else is great.

So far so good...

works good and is open source

This app is perfect for texting to everybody and if somebody else happens to have this app running you sent to them fully encrypted. I activly advise this app to all of my friends

F Good

Just awesome! On top of the added security, it feels faster than other messenger apps I've used.

Gotta love that good encryption

Very nice. Easy to use. Enjoying the dark mode.

Great for sms and private/encoded messaging. I have had one issue and that was after updating to android 9 on LG V30. SMS was coming in on messaging app which was disabled but I had to send on Signal which wasn't receiving any text. Reboot didn't work. Went to default setting and Signal was set as default. Set Messaging as default, then set Signal as default again and everything working fine.

It's secure, does what it promises.

I love it great app I found this app on YouTube about security and privacy on Android

Great app. Would definitely be improved by not having to completely reset when you get a new device

Very useful, simple app

This has proven to be a great way to communicate with people, all while minimizing the possibility of prying eyes, and ears!!

The amount of time my phone rings when someone trys calling me is ridiculous. If you could cut the time in half it would be perfect. The app rings for a solid minute, cut that down to 15-20 seconds please. Also a option to put the calls on mute would be nice. My phone vibrates for a solid minute when I'm getting a call and there is no way for me to stop it unless I reject the call. Also while I'm in a call I can't keep my screen off. I turn my screen off in a call and it just goes right back on.

Excellent -no problems -no adds - best free encrytion message app i have found.

It stopped sending me notifications for new messages. I went to advanced option to set push notifications and it's not there. The only time I see new messages is when I open the app.

Excellent service. Better than regular text message

Good app, secured

Respects your privacy, is fast, has all the features of WhatsApp without any of the spyware. 10/10 would crypto with again

Sometimes receive the same text from the same person twice. Not often but still annoying. Otherwise a great app.

Great and secure communication app. Simple and easy to use

Good reception and very fast connection

I cannot import backup from newer version of signal inspite of having the 30 digit number. I need solution regarding this.

Totally brilliant. Send in safety

Pretty darn good

Def a private conversation

Great secure and encrypted messaging app. Thank you. Just bringing something to your attention, the audio and video calls are not very clear with a weak signal, and breaks up a lot; Google Duo is much better for clearer audio and video calls. Please improve this. Also, there are no thumbnail previews for any links; at least YouTube URLs used to show a thumbnail preview before the most recent update, but not anymore.

Love this app! By far the best messaging app, not only for serious security & privacy, but the clean UI, iMessage-like chat bubbles, clean interface, and extra features that fully bridge the gap between Android & iPhone. Only app that puts keyboard in incognito mode! Wish more people would use it already! It's also the only app that consolidates with option to use as SMS Text app. I see more people joining recently, hopefully this keeps going. Btw this is basically hidden in the app store now!

Good app up until now

Great, but MMS doesn't work on Android 10 with Google Fi. Please fix!

Efficient, no problems

Service is the best love it

😻😻😻 it's really helpful.

Very satisfied with its performance. Thank you

Pretty good app. Nice short terms and conditions. I use this rather than WhatsApp.

So far so good (the feds could't find me)

Amazing no ads or no spying software

Works well has all features you would want

Pretty good

call quality is great and product security appears sound

Everything is great except when I change to a new phone and couldn't restore my save text messages help please!

Solid application

Great app 👍👍👍👍👍

Excelent 👍👍

August 2019stops working till you update. idk. is it a way to force n update or why it stops working. Got for the purpose of security and taking advantage of encryption. I can't send videos. i like calling with it. Now again in October same prob..something stops working so u hv to update. It can use some improvement but i like it though it still needs more options.

No issues, video calling is very good.

I like it

Terrible design philosophy and an overall annoyance to use. The biggest issue with signal is their moral opposition to allowing any message storing on the SD card. This means the app will bloat to multiple gigabytes over normal usage as it stores all of your messages. If you don't like it, you can delete old messages. No way to back them up though. You have to have the actual messages on your internal storage to back them up to the SD card. The developers refuse to allow Signal to be on SD.

Great for privacy. I love the wifi compatibility for calls and texts. Would rate 5 stars if there were a few adjustments. Ability to not only delete messages onmy phone but also messages that ive sent to other people. And inside the app have the option to disguise my phone number in the app so the person im texting can access it but it is not regularly available to anyone who opens the app. It would be nice to have this disguised in the app on other phones if u want

Very functional and straightforward, although moving to a new phone was a bit of a pain.

Seems to work ok. But i dont know if my messages are safe now or not. Suppose no one really knows

Really a good app for making a secured call.. Love it..

Love this app, all works seamlessly!

One of my favorite chats and texting apps. Love all of the features and the encryption.

best app ever used

requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

create accounts and set passwords
Allows the app to use the account authenticator capabilities of the AccountManager, including creating accounts and getting and setting their passwords.

pair with Bluetooth devices
Allows the app to view the configuration of the Bluetooth on the phone, and to make and accept connections with paired devices.

send sticky broadcast
Allows the app to send sticky broadcasts, which remain after the broadcast ends. Excessive use may make the phone slow or unstable by causing it to use too much memory.

send WAP-PUSH-received broadcast
Allows the app to broadcast a notification that a WAP PUSH message has been received. Malicious apps may use this to forge MMS message receipt or to silently replace the content of any webpage with malicious variants.

directly call phone numbers
Allows the app to call phone numbers without your intervention. This may result in unexpected charges or calls. Note that this doesn't allow the app to call emergency numbers. Malicious apps may cost you money by making calls without your confirmation.

take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

change network connectivity
Allows the app to change the state of network connectivity.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

disable your screen lock
Allows the app to disable the keylock and any associated password security. For example, the phone disables the keylock when receiving an incoming phone call, then re-enables the keylock when the call is finished.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

find accounts on the device
Allows the app to get the list of accounts known by the phone. This may include any accounts created by applications you have installed.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

change your audio settings
Allows the app to modify global audio settings such as volume and which speaker is used for output.

read calendar events plus confidential information
Allows the app to read all calendar events stored on your phone, including those of friends or co-workers. This may allow the app to share or save your calendar data, regardless of confidentiality or sensitivity.

read your contacts
Allows the app to read data about your contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific individuals. This permission allows apps to save your contact data, and malicious apps may share contact data without your knowledge.

read the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to read the contents of your SD card.

read phone state
Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.

read your own contact card
Allows the app to read personal profile information stored on your device, such as your name and contact information. This means the app can identify you and may send your profile information to others.

read your text messages (SMS or MMS)
Allows the app to read SMS messages stored on your phone or SIM card. This allows the app to read all SMS messages, regardless of content or confidentiality.

read sync settings
Allows the app to read the sync settings for an account. For example, this can determine whether the People app is synced with an account.

run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

receive text messages (MMS)
Allows the app to receive and process MMS messages. This means the app could monitor or delete messages sent to your device without showing them to you.

receive text messages (SMS)
Allows the app to receive and process SMS messages. This means the app could monitor or delete messages sent to your device without showing them to you.

record audio
Allows the app to record audio with the microphone. This permission allows the app to record audio at any time without your confirmation.

send SMS messages
Allows the app to send SMS messages. This may result in unexpected charges. Malicious apps may cost you money by sending messages without your confirmation.

set wallpaper
Allows the app to set the system wallpaper.

use accounts on the device
Allows the app to request authentication tokens.

control vibration
Allows the app to control the vibrator.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

add or modify calendar events and send email to guests without owners' knowledge
Allows the app to add, remove, change events that you can modify on your phone, including those of friends or co-workers. This may allow the app to send messages that appear to come from calendar owners, or modify events without the owners' knowledge.

modify your contacts
Allows the app to modify the data about your contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific contacts. This permission allows apps to delete contact data.

modify or delete the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to write to the SD card.

modify your own contact card
Allows the app to change or add to personal profile information stored on your device, such as your name and contact information. This means the app can identify you and may send your profile information to others.

edit your text messages (SMS or MMS)
Allows the app to write to SMS messages stored on your phone or SIM card. Malicious apps may delete your messages.

toggle sync on and off
Allows an app to modify the sync settings for an account. For example, this can be used to enable sync of the People app with an account.

install shortcuts
Allows an application to add Homescreen shortcuts without user intervention.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.
