Signal’s advanced privacy-preserving technology is always enabled, so you can focus on sharing the moments that matter with the people who matter to you.

• Say anything – State-of-the-art end-to-end encryption (powered by the open source Signal Protocol™) keeps your conversations secure. Privacy isn’t an optional mode — it’s just the way that Signal works. Every message, every call, every time.

• Go fast – Messages are delivered quickly and reliably, even on slow networks. Signal is optimized to operate in the most constrained environment possible.

• Feel free – Signal is a completely independent 501c3 nonprofit. Development is supported by users like you. No advertisements. No trackers. No kidding.

Reviews From google play store

Great messaging app. Pretty robust and end to end encryption is nice. Video chats are very resource intensive though. I wish it had a few more options, like being able to hide the view of yourself in video chat mode. Also, when on video chat, it can switch to using mobile data even when on WiFi and there is no indication of such. Though the devs have stated that it's just part of how the networking library functions. Wish there was a "WiFi only" setting for calls.

The best messenger that actually upholds the idea that when you send someone a message, they are the only other person to receive it. The Signal servers cannot read your messages even if they want to. That earns 3 stars. The other two can be gained by adding missing features like be able to remove people from a group chat you create, the ability to use multiple user identifiers that can be created, simultaneously used, and deleted at will, and the ability to use multiple devices at once.

It's not bad. You likely have Signal because of end to end encryption, which is a great alternative to everything else out there. Two issues for me (and others I've noticed in the comments section) are setting up group texts are a pain in the butt and more of a hassle than it needs to be; and also the delayed texts. It's not uncommon to receive texts out of order or not even receive them for several hours and sometimes a full day or two after. That can be a problem for many people.

Hard to distinguish which message threads are new. Whenever I get new messages in SMS or MMS, and I go into the app to read the thread, I can't tell one is new. The letters are all the same style. At least with Google Messages, new messages are in bold. Lastly, in group MMS, Signal displays my phone number in the group chat title, instead of using my name or simply not showing it at all. This is really annoying because I see myself in those threads as a phone number when everyone has names.

ive really enjoyed signal; its been a great messenger, except lately, it hasnt been downloading about 2/3 of the MMS messages i receive, and continually fails when i retry. there seems to be no pattern or reason for the issue (i.e. mobile networks, data restrictions signal strength, etc.). hopefully a fix is in the works. aside from that, though, its been great.

Not Good for SMS & MMS. Was looking for a new all in one client. While I'm sure this would be great between signal accounts, SMS and MMS functionality is bad. Group message support is terrible, and no MMS will load. You will get separate messages from every person in a group message with MMS that won't download. Shame because the GUI is great, and I like the idea of end to end encryption between signal users. I will give this another shot later, hopefully it will be better.

Signal is the messaging app I use the most with the people I text the most. I rated it only a four because occasionally the app won't send/receive messages even when both parties have good service. I also recently got a new phone and it was not obvious that there needed to be a separate backup for all of my messages, so I lost all of my past messages and my profile. The only other feature I would wish for is chat heads, but of course another company has that proprietary feature so oh well.

EDIT. The issue with time stamps seems fixed where false time stamps were produced for retroactive messages after lost network, going back online/switching phone back on. Sent pictures and audio files are satisfactory despite other user complaints. Using Android 6.0 for Huawei Honor 7. If you produce a stand-alone desktop app that negates the need for a smart-phone, you will receive 5 stars!

Most of the Signal experience is great but it's still lacking some basics that make WhatsApp good, like media compression, multiple select media sharing, and multi recipient sharing. That said, the low compression makes video and phone calls amazingly crisp and high quality, if you have the bandwidth.

I loved Signal and have used it for several years, but after a recent update, it won't download MMS messages from many of my non-Signal-using contacts. It was never an issue before, but now it is a constant hassle. I'm on a Galaxy S9, phone and app are updated and I have checked all of my settings. Very disappointed that I will have to go back to my stock messaging app until this is remedied.

Good app. But like many others recently I have been unable to receive group msg or media msg. It just says error downloading. It hasn't done this before and I'm not sure what changed and I really dont want to go back to my default messaging app and I have tried many things to fix it but nothing has worked.. hoping this gets fixed soon!!

Great app, no issues until the most recent update. Now I typically get an error when receiving a photo from a non-Signal user and must restart my phone to view it. Images received from other Signal users do not have this issue. A minor defect in the grand scheme of things, but one I would like to see resolved. Conversely, the new insights feature is great! Overall, still very happy with Signal.

Going from 5 stars to 3 stars, unfortunately. Everything was perfect about this app, from video calling to sms messaging. I think after updating to Android 10 on my Pixel 2XL, I haven't been getting any of my MMS group messages and hadn't realized it. This is kinda a huge deal breaker if you're making this your default app. I'm on Google Fi as well.

I have been using signal without any issue for about a year now and until about a week ago i haven't been getting all my messages. It will say "error downloading, tap to downlaod" but even when i do that i still don't get my messages. The issue has just increased in frequency. I hate to go back to default messenger but i have no choice. I will look for another private messenger app.

Bit ugly - would prefer more colour options (like pastels and vibrant sunset colours and such)/et cetera. Otherwise extremely good and best thing is that they don't stalk all of your messaging like on Facebook and What's App. Oh, and its restriction on videos being sent depending on their length is very annoying. Still better than any other option, though....

Loved Signal as my messaging app but now left it as it's started to send the same message multiple times, possibly in areas where the mobile signal is weak. My mobile network blocked free EU roaming from my plan when my phone sent the same message nearly 200 times in 30 minutes while I was abroad. Yesterday my phone sent the same message 66 times in the space of a few minutes. In both cases the message only showed in Signal as having been sent once.

It works really well. It's nice that they didn't make the interface significantly different from whatsapp/facebook messenger, which I view as an amazing feature. I didn't have to learn to use it, because it worked the same as the other messenger apps. You can set it as the default SMS app too. 100% worth using it.

I love signal. Keep up the good work and bug fixes. Still crashes when making calls in android 5.0 Do I need to drop my review down to 2 stars to get attention to this issue. Or is it just my phone? Its been a few weeks now. Any tips for me to try troubleshoot myself? Also please dont add last seen time and online status. I love that we are free of that here. Thats intrusive to privacy. (Whatsapp) Thank you

I really liked this app until the most recent update. My phone no longer gets group texts or pictures, unless it's at random, several days to months later. Very disappointing. I also have to create a new group each time and cannot save them. When I initially used the app, I did enjoy its ease of use as a new android user. My partner swears by this app but I remain skeptical.

I really wanted to love this app, because I was told it's the most secure out there! I don't doubt that part, but I'm tempted to stop using the app because of so many messages that fail to come through. It will notify me that someone sent me a message, but say that there was an error downloading it. I've played around with settings to see if there's a way to fix things on my end, but so far, no luck.

Been using this app for 2 years and loved it until about the last month. Every time I send an MMS message it says it wasn't delivered, when it in fact actually was. Now when people send me videos, it's converted to an unplayable audio file instead. And now gifs are coming through as a freeze frame image. What's goin on Signal?

Signal is amazing, and I've been using it for about a year. I would not even consider using another app for texting security. Unless something plainly better came along. However, I have had one issue consistently: why am I not able to successfully make secure phone calls between Signal users?? I have tried every configuration and situation that I can seem to think of. Please, help me with this. It is a feature we need to rely on. Thank you.

Use Signal for few years, only problems I get was no sound on arrived messages, usually reinstall would help - but not this time. Recently got update miui 11 on pocophone f1, and since than no sound on new messages, pop-up notification on screen works, vibrate works, but no sound. Try 2x reinstall, other sounds (system or custom)... no sound. Any ideas what is the problem? Sound only works in-chat (if chatting with someone and got open same chat)

There is notification and call issue. Even though there is internet connectivity when I make a call it's not connecting. It's only connecting when the other person opens the signal app. I don't know why this happens. Even I tried to make running the app in the background. Otherwise the app is perfect.

Annoyed. All of a sudden for the past month mms fails all the time. I cannot receive any attachments from anyone. Notification dot doesn't work, notifications work sporadically. I Uninstalled and reinstalled and couldn't get my back up file. Apparently I needed a backup phrase that was never given to me when I created the backup. Thanks for all the losses. Needed this for work and now too much is gone. Id recommend another app before you run into the same issues like I and others have. 👎🏻👎🏻

Decent chat app but missing some premium features of competitors (e.g. Messenger) like the ability to react to messages with emoticons like 'thumbs up'. Hopefully they'll catch up in the future. EDIT: Docked another star because for the 3rd time (since using the app) while composing a long reply I had to minimize and this wretched app cleared the entire buffer! Fb Messenger never does that which is a huge point in Messenger's favour. Such shortsighted design; any real testing by actual users?

It would be better if there would be timings available for when the message delivered and when it was read. Like it only shows that message has been sent, delivered and read but without the timings of each. If that feature would be added. I'd appreciate it more. And will definitely give 5 stars and ask others also to utilise this secure app and give 5 stars to it .

Good if your contacts are also on Signal. As an everyday stock messaging app, lacks basic features esp for group texting like easily adding others to a text, pain to always have to create a group. Also, can't designate frequent contacts as favorites. I'm also getting a lot of errors on MMS texts from groups. I just tried because my Samsung stock app is having issues losing messages and receiving attachments. Will keep looking for a better everyday app.

It's not perfect- I had to uninstall and reinstall it once because my messages were not reaching my wife. However, it gets 5 starts because those messages weren't reaching anyone else, either. At this stage in the game, nothing is more important than privacy. And it is my understanding that this app is unimpregnable. Use it! Spread it! Keep yourself and your family safe.

I love this app, but every now and then an update rolls out that causes an Error Downloading MMS. Straight texts to a single person are fine, but any group text or attachment just hangs there with the error (sending or receiving). The latest uptick in errors happened about 2 or 3 days ago. Really don't want to go back to stock messaging app, but, sadly, I may need to find a new app.

Do not like the latest update at all. The stark white or black navigating through messages from different contacts is awful. I'm also not receiving some group and individual mms and get the error downloading message. I've tried all the fixes on the support page, and nothing works. It is very frustrating.

No complaints! Requires an internet connection, so be careful if you have limited data on your phone plan. Edit: This app also has a desktop program you can use to send messages from your computer (only to other registered Signal users). I love the encrypted Note to Self feature, and the ability to transfer files. Highly recommend!

Can no longer give 5 stars because Signal no longer works. Cannot send messages if I have a photo queued to send. Can take up to a few days for a photo to send over good Aussie wifi. Currently reinstalling for the second time to see if it fixes the issue. Didn't work. Signal no longer is functional in communicating between Signal apps on iPhone and Android.

I'm only receiving about half of my MMS messages ever since the most recent update. The others show up as errors and are not downloadable even if I click to do so manually. Very frustrating to not be able to participate in group chats or even one on ones when they attempt to send pictures, etc.

I think that one of the things I most appreciate about this app is the second word and its title. Private. I also think that the clarity of voice messages that you send with it is extremely good, and I appreciate the fact that you can also write out textual messages, in addition to attaching a variety of different items to your messages, whether voice or text. Also, the fact that all you have to spend to acquire this app is a little bit of time helps considerably.

Update: Media still not downloadable. I think the UI needs a little refinement. For example, the bold text of new messages versus unbold text of old is a little subtle and hard to tell at a glance. Downloadable media messages stopped working. Cleared storage to get it to work again. Lost all my messages.

I've been using Signal as my default SMS app for a while and was impressed when I recently switched phones. It may seem intimidating to some users to create a backup, write down a 30-character passcode, and manually transfer the file to the new phone, but THAT's security! I was especially delighted to see that the none of my SMS history since the time I started using Signal could be accessed by either OS! I'm very happy to know that there exists a software company that actually values privacy.

a good app in general, but sliding your finger across the screen seems to be interpreted as a desire to quote a previous message in the conversation, which I have never once wanted to do. some way to turn that 'feature' off would be very welcome. Also doesn't work on Google Fi as the primary SMS app despite advertising that capability. You can send messages through it but responses never show up except in Hangouts.

MMS still doesn't work properly on Verizon. I saw issue #8571 was closed on Github - that supposedly fixed MMS receiving issues for Verizon users - but I'm still seeing problems on my Galaxy S9 on Verizon. In addition, you cannot add names to group chats once the group chat has already been created, which seems to be an easy implementation. I'll have to switch back to the original Messenger app because group messages are a core component of any messaging app.

I enjoyed using the app, but I haven't found a place for support. I can get messages and see them in my notification bar, and even reapond---using the notification bar. However I cannot open the app at all. It just keeps saying app keeps closing. I've submitted the report of the app but for the past 3 days I have followed all of the possible solutions. It worked for about an hour two days ago and again stopped working. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall because I'll lose all of my sms

My signal app keeps crashing when I try to open it. I contacted support twice over the past 2 weeks, but haven't received any response. I get the impression that signal deleted my data somehow. Nice that privacy is the highest priority, but it's also nice to still have your data.

I don't get the notifications of incoming messages. Not sure if I did my set up correctly. Was a bit of a struggle to get it working after installing. It could be easier, and it is annoying that the app doesn't automatically show who has got Signal installed. The idea of inviting people is old-fashioned. Other than that it's okay. Let's just say that I won't be using this as my primary chat app. Only a few of my friends are using it.

I was a little worried that I would not be able to make a smooth transition but all of my messages were Uploaded along with the threads quite accurately. I saw several people complain about the lack of group messages for me this is a feature not a bug as many of my clients are older inexperienced users who are still doing reply all without understanding how annoying this is. I am using a Galaxy 10 and I have not had any problems sending photos or doing any of the functions I require.

Since the last update I don't get notifications until I open the app! I love this app. Oftentimes the conversations page does not update to the latest messages, and when I open a conversation it is blank. Also it doesn't always immediately recognize people who I have conversations with as Signal contacts and so sets it to SMS for a few seconds. It's overall slower.

Love it, but here's some things that can be improved: 1. Sometimes I still get a push notification in my status bar, even when I have the conversation open already on my screen (MMS group conversations). 2. Renaming of MMS group chats - please allow this. Would like to see things like "Fantasy Football League" or "Army Platoon" in my inbox instead of a list of names that's cut off. 3. Pin conversations to top of inbox (for both Signal conversations and SMS/MMS) - please add this. 4. Any sort of customization of the look/feel AT ALL. The default contact colors and chat bubbles look like trash in dark mode (magenta, forest green, etc). I understand your main goal is to provide secure messaging, but adding a few simple features that I listed above would really polish off the app and serve as a total messaging replacement for any mobile device.

I love this app but since the recent update, every time I'm scrolling up to reply to a message (on long conversations) the message I happen to be touching while scrolling becomes quoted (even if I didn't swipe right), it annoys me so much, takes extra time to remove the "wrong" quote and keep scrolling up to the actual message I want to reply to.

Great app. Have been using for over 12 months without any problems. I like the simplicity of the app without lots of clutter. It would be nice if the text editor was bigger. 5 lines can be restrictive when your doing long messages and trying to review what you've typed.

I love signal. I fully support the developers for using encrypted messaging. My friends enjoy it also. It also is the best messaging app I used. I was a textra fan for a while but I converted to signal. Signal always runs great on my android devices. If I could beta test this app and help the devs test features I would.

Feature Request : (1) Please provide a seperate section to view links shared in a chat apart from 'Media' and 'Documents' (In shared media). This will help a lot in discovering the articles and videos shared. (2) Extend the time for 'Disappearing Messages' to 1 month as an option so that we can keep messages and content shared for a bit longer.

I've consistently had issues with MMS messages with this app over the years. I don't know if it's certain updates or what the issue is, but every now and then my phone (a Galaxy S9+) has issues sending or receiving MMS messages. King of annoying. But otherwise a great app.

With WhatsApp being merged with Facebook messenger and Instagram I wanted to find something else. I use signal because it's touted as one of the most secure messaging platforms out there. It still has some work to do though to catch up with modern message apps: 1. Interface feels somewhat dated and not very modern 2. Improved media management 3. Group chat creation is unnecessarily complex 4. No video calling 5. No link previews

Been using this for years. One of the few products I will actually recommend. I tell others you can use Signal as your default, and it comes with plenty of cool features, on top of the obvious privacy ones.

This review is solely based on using this app on my android device. The swipe to delete/leave groups has fired off unintentionally far too often. This feature is unnecessary as no one should need to 1 swipe to remove chats. Yet if others want this, at least make it a toggle to turn off. Or add a confirmation message after the trigger to delete occurs. Would be worth adding a rejoin function even if the other fail safes dont prevent this.

I used to love this app but I've been having a lot of issues lately. I have trouble sending messages, especially to other people who use signal. I also can't use the speach to text function most of the time anymore, when I used to use it all the time and it works in every other app

I just started using this app two days ago, and I love the native features and it's easy enough to use, but I notice it has frequent issues with receiving images. EDIT: after continual issues with receiving image messages (I receive fewer than half of images sent whether I am connected to wifi or data), I have stopped using Signal. Maybe I will try it again when this issue is resolved.

Has become useless due to inability to use group texts and download images. Reverting back to stock messaging app until I hear of a fix. Two stars because of the great app it used to be. Online threads also note this problem with no timely resolution by the developers. I'd take the app as it was a month ago and working.

I like the idea of the security and all but there seems to be a lot of lag time. There are times when I'll send a message and it won't even be delivered for hours. And there are times when I won't receive a message for hours. I can tell because the message will have a time stamp of today but I won't get it until tomorrow.

I want to really love this app. Secure messaging with auto-delete? Yes, please. But MMS messages haven't been downloading for over a week, probably due to one of the updates. I don't want to stop using this app, but I might have to if I keep getting error messages for every MMS.

Solid performance. No issues between SMS and MMS messages. Encryption works flawlessly. Desktop app works great as well providing access to important messages while at work without having to look at your phone. The tough part is trying to get other people to join, but many people don't seem concerned enough about privacy issues.

Signal is a great end to end encryption messaging and voice app that also handily integrates as an SMS/MMS messaging app. I have had a few issues with signal voice calls but this is because I had the server relay option on. I just wish I could get more people to use it in my contacts list.

Simply the best if you want privacy and security, and it's user-friendly too. I've convinced my parents to switch from WhatsApp after the recent change in leadership there that might erode WA's privacy in the future. Signal does everything I ever used WhatsApp for just as well, and it's miles ahead of plain old texting. Audio and video calls are crystal clear, even on my parents' slow DSL - I no longer get the latency (voice and video lag) issues I used to get.

If you care about user privacy you would fix the software program on this app to be able to work without requiring access to all contacts to work. If Wechat can do it then so can you. Allow users to create user ID and allow others to add each other via user ID. User ID would be encrypted. No need to access all of people's personal contact list to function properly. If you care about privacy you could easily implement this.

This is a great app with end to the encryption for privacy of your messages on both ends. However a few flaws. First- this is not a Google based app so it doesn't save or back up your previous conversations. So if you change phones or reset your phone to factory settings- your history' gone, poof! If you wanted the history back- sorry... If you didn't need or want your previous conversations back then you'd be alright! Second- the attach feature is a tad behind as far as pictures and videos too

No one has replied to this review or to emails to the company. I'm giving this app a few more days before I delete Having issues... A few weeks ago the app stopped sending pictures randomly & would have errors "downloading MMS message" when they send texts to me (random). I'm also getting error messages when I'm in a group chat. The error messages are from the individuals in the group chat. I receive 2 messages one in the group chat and another in an individual chat which is always an error.

I'm afraid I'm giving to have to give up on your app. Can't get it to reliably download MMS messages, despite working through the suggested troubleshooting, including giving Signal permissions for everything. Even tried a reinstall, but the app crashes every time I try to recover my messages previous to the new install. Sad, I liked it when it worked...

Amazing for what it does. Lacking a few key features of modern messaging apps though. It needs to add the ability to apply emoji reactions to messages. It needs to enable a default theme that can be applied to all conversations universally. Currently having a random theme for each contact is a pain if you want it all to look the same. It doesn't hold calls or call quality as well as WhatsApp which is a shame. That said I will chose this over WhatsApp because of this app's superior privacy.

When I make a voice call to another user whose phone screen is locked and idle, that user does not get the call alert soumd. Only when the phone is unlocked the missed call notification can be seen. Sometime, even if there is call alert sound, no option appears on the screen to answer the call. He has to pull down the notifications and from there answer. Called phone was xiaomi redmi 4.

This app promises to be great but doesn't deliver. There are too many bugs trying to send and receive messages from people who don't use this app. I either don't receive messages at all, have errors with incoming MMS, or don't get a notification I have a message. I notice I am not the first one to complain about this issue, but I don't see a response from the company saying they are working to fix this.

Great app for private messaging, but it misses a bit of features, like tags, text effects life bold, italic or similar and you cant delete messages for everyone. Also, I would advise to bring the progress bar of the video player UI a bit up, because with screens with round corners the text is cut

Does what it says and does it well. Eaay to use and extremely simple. The audio and video call qualities are hard to beat. Highly recommended for security and privacy minded users. P. S. Could the developers please add a way to use pure black OLED theme? And the notification system seems a bit weird in that with each new message, the notification shows the oldest unread message. Please see about these!

Good app with a really bad bug on OnePlus 6T. If I insert a pic or gif to someone, it sometimes will autoduplicate the same image on the next shared message to someone else. Basically, it will send without warning a previously sent image to someone else. You don't know it's going to happen...until it happens.

Great messaging app! I love everything about it except for the fact that I can't figure out how to initiate a group text, and I know there are a few texts I never received. I did love that I could back up my texts and move them from my previous phone to my new phone with relative ease. All in all, I like it here.

Great for texting but can't download MMS sent from friends. I have no idea what the difference is (I'm not technical), I just know that I never had trouble using iMessage for both SMS and MMS.

The best app to communicate securely loving it and replaced what's app for me. That's what I only use now and it does the work perfect I don't know why google forces reviews to be so long I really don't have much more to say The best app to communicate securely loving it and replaced what's app for me. That's what I only use now and it does the work perfect I don't know why google forces reviews to be so long I really don't have much more to say

Excellent under the hood but can have echoing screeching issues regularly on speakerphone. I wish there were a full color range to choose from or ability to use theme backgrounds as well as the UI gets boring fast. I still highly recommend. These guys are doing a public service and they are unsung heroes.

Updated to 14.49.17 STILL same problems. Video recording SOMETIMES WORK (more consist than before). Recording video preview freezes and only animmation works, video is blank and have no time. When I close the camera and start it again video is blank, this time it won't even open the camera just shows black colour and shutter button. For the front camera it is even worse: video in preview is STRECTHED VERTICALY(still in 14.49.17) and can't record video. Every update is the same!

Awesome app, works great, disappearing message function is pretty cool. Claims to be ultra-secure but I don't know enough about encryption to either confirm or deny, and obviously if your phone were to be physically compromised it would do little to nothing to keep your messages secure. And it still uses your phones SMS function to send and receive its messages, so they wouldn't be any more or less vulnerable to interception.

Convenient app! Blurry and slow video calls have always been an issue whenever I use Messenger. Thankfully, Signal worked like a charm! I was surprised upon installation however. Require access to all contacts? The main reason why I installed Signal was privacy. Please, request User ID. Will be looking forward to updates!

I have used this app for awhile now and it is extremely trustworthy. Love that it is peer-to-peer encrpypted. The video calling works great also. Don't know why more people don't use this awesome app. Stops companies and hackers from seeing my private messages.

Since the last update, I am having issues with group text. I get error messages from some people but not others. Very frustrating. Also group text are not easy or user friendly to create. Not sure if these are truly encrypted messages.

If you like privacy, then Signal is for you. **Edited review: I have recently been getting an error message when receiving group texts. I am unable to view about half of my group texts because of this error. Please fix soon because I have loved Signal up to this point!!

The best messenger app for privacy and security, there's nothing else this simple and effective. I wish more people would be using this instead of WhatsApp or Telegram. Edit: the only feature I don't like is when you set SMS and MMS off you can still send insecure SMS. People I am trying to convince to use Signal are dumb and they can make mistakes.

Aside from the strange process of importing the contacts and somewhat unorthodox way it organizes and labels them, the app is excellent. Fix these aspects and I'll gladly come back and change the rating to 5 ⭐ Also, your Windows and MacOs versions are underwhelming, please update their interface and make it easier to import all the contacts, not just the ones that have signal and if you can, join with WhatsApp so that we can send online messages to people without signal that have WhatsApp

I love the app because it help us stay in touch with loved one far away, but sometimes I don't get the notification of my new messages until I open the app itself. And that makes me have a shorter conversation with my loved one especially since the time we have to talk is so limited. But overall I love it

This is my most favorite app for messaging I always use this app to text my girlfriend and close friends I don't use the SMS feature only the app I found signal to be far better than Facebook messenger or Snapchat or any of the other awful apps out there, this here is light weight on memory and storage and I can send messages even on bad connections and best of all it's open source and secure I'm so grateful than an app like this exist

Ok app. TWo problems & that is that when you're choosing emojis u can't close the menu for the emojis by tapping the keyboard icon and the emoji menu closes. It doesn't close despite tapping on the keyboard icon like it should. The emoji menu just stays open and takes up a huge part of the screen. Also, i cannot figure out how to dis-associate the signal app with being my defaultt text app. Also, pictures sent to u within a conversation with someone should save automatically. Otherwise 4/5

Very good quality of voice and video calls in general, and private they say. Here is what can be better: * User experience on the call screen can be prettier, buttons as overly * image being cut on their own algorithm and it is not optimal * Data consumption is huge. I would mind on roaming

Nominal is by far the best way that I can explain using Signal. Do NOT let the 'nominal' throw you, this word is used extensively in the Space program / flight testing important hardware/software systems, it means, "working as designed". We use Signal because we who work primarily for private individuals and compartmentalized corporations who require the utmost security from off-site subs working independently without the usual suspects knowing what's-up, even in-house.

Notifications are hit or miss lately. They also do not sound an alert more than once (although set for three audible alerts), if they sound an alert at all. Other than not being informed I received a text (which can be crucial for my work), it's a good app.

I wish the ability to schedule messages to be sent later was a feature of this app. I miss that from my default Samsung text messenger. I work really early and sometimes need to convey information to people who are still sleeping. I want to schedule my texts so I don't wake anyone...

Gets the job done. Fast and reasonably light weight (resource wise). I have no complaints for secure messages or regular SMS messages. Recently started having problems with receiving MMS. Last two updates haven't helped. And I'm not on Verizon.

It will not send messages if you forget to update the app. As simple as that! In my case, many messages were not sent only to realise after a number of days, when people were telling my they did not receive anything from me...

Decent app. I came over from an app called Disa which handled both txt and Facebook messenger.. that consolidation of both messenging apps is sorely missed. Signal needs to add ability to send multiple pics at once.. but overall not bad. Few features to add and it'll be best available.

Great concept & functionality. HOWEVER: Could this outfit create an app which prevents your typed messages being hacked? Is it possible? And for voice/microphone use? I understand that both can happen if bodies decide to control your phone externally. Could do with user manual-type video support, especially to SHOW HOW you verify 'safety numbers'. The explanation I read lacks demonstration/illustration. Otherwise, a great app, thank you all ! 🙂👍

Mms has stopped working after last update. Please fix this issue or I will have find an alternative. Shame because I love the security and and everything else about this app. 11/12/19 multiple updates still no fix for MMS... NO ANSWER FROM SUPPORT EMAILS. About to give up on this app.

Great app, phone/video calls sometimes drop or don't connect but for secure texting and auto deleting messages this app is awesome. it was even featured on a Mr. Robot episode! Haha 🙃 4.5/5 if you tighten up the calling and video chat connection I'll come back to change my review to 5/5

I've enjoyed Signal for several years. However, recently I've been unable to receive MMS messages. Please, developers, update this iteration of Signal as soon as you can. So that we may all enjoy your premier service again.

solid. I love it so far and it's been pretty hassle free overall. However theres been a trend of messages not arriving consistently. They'll just suddenly all show up at once 30+ minutes after being sent. Also phone calls are having major issues.

UI could be a little slicker/modern, but it does the job. I get why it requires a phone number (and so only installs on my phone and not my tablets & PCs), but it'd be nice to be able to use it across devices. Maybe Signal Foundation can come out with or endorse a multi-platform messenger to fill that gap.

If Signal is doing what it promises, providing a secure, properly encryted message platform, despite the fact that it's fairly basic in terms of functionality, I'm happy with that. Secure messaging is my priority.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.
