No problems at all replacing both WhatsApp and my phone's default messaging app. I haven't used it yet for a voice call, nor used other functionality, so can't say I've "rigorously" tested it. But I'm still very happy with Signal so far! Edit: I'm consistently getting "Error downloading MMS message", and error reports about this have been dismissed by developers, do I cannot expect this will ever be fixed.

Good app. Seems to do video con pretty well. Not so herky jerky like some I've used. Haven't been able to detect an audible notification, or determine if one exists, even though notifications is turned on. May just be a bare bones pure communication app and not offer connectivity to automobile sound system via Bluetooth, but would be nice to let me know I've received a text while driving. My Textra does.

Great features, but missing essentials. I donated a bit when I first started with the app because I was really excited by the concept and wanted to help in some way. Biggest deal-breaker for me is that I can't import my SMS messages from my default app. Thus I am stuck using 2 apps for messages. Lack of support is the other issue. I have twice sent in a request of information and have not even received an automated reply, never mind a real answer. There seems to be no support at all. Given the state of the app now, I am certainly not going to contribute to it anymore. I am keeping my eyes open for an messaging app that can fill all my needs. I'd love to see Signal rally and be that app ....

I appreciate the security of Signal. However, there is no way to restore messages from a backup if your phone dies (or is lost) or you change your number, and it will only store backups in internal storage. You can no longer export to another app if desired. These are inexcusable. Video calls are of poor and often glitchy quality. Creating groups is annoying, and you can't add someone to an existing text chain. The last two issues would be minor if I could have a real backup of my data.

I really like this app, but the new color scheme is awful. I'd prefer it to go back to where you can change your contact's color bubble, not my own. If that is changed, I'll up my rating. Also, sometimes, even with service, the messages don't send, which can be frustrating. Another great feature would be the ability to schedule messages to be sent in the future, rather than right away.

The app does it's basic function but is too inconvenient to use. * There's no ability to manage space taken by media files. The only way to reclaim the space is to delete the media together with the message forever. * When using the desktop app, it will only receive the messages since the app is linked. Other messages that you have on your phone are not on the desktop "for security". But what's the heck, I have it on my other device!

Don't like the way the Audio Clip functions. Its not user friendly like the Messenger app. Dont like the small area available to contruct your text. Again, messenger is better. But.....i love the look of SIGNAL very much otherwise. I do use it but at times prefer to use Messenger. Would love to uninstall Messenger forever but havent found an app with the functions i like personally.😊

The new update which disables picture cropping in favour of a skew option is awful, this has to be fixed. Edit: I'd also like to add that searching for multiple keywords in a GIF search session breaks the session, and no results are returned. It's very slow to load. Also when selecting a photo to send from my gallery, I only see it in full screen when I select it. If I decide its not the one I want I hit "x" and I'm taken right out, back to the chat. This should return me to the gallery.

I'm not sure how to feel about this app now, I was feeling really excited about it. Even though I've had it for a while I've only now started using it and the most annoying thing is that each time I deactivate "vibration" from the notification menu in the app somehow the next message comes with a vibration and when I check the vibration is pushed back on automatically. It's very irritating.

Everytime that they're an update, my husband who is deployed will not get any messages unless he opens the app, and then there's a backlog of messages I've sent. Which is annoying, considering we are 2000 miles apart. It always happens when you force us to update, but I receive his messages. This is a huge issue.
