• Go fast – Messages are delivered quickly and reliably, even on slow networks. Signal is optimized to operate in the most constrained environment possible.
• Feel free – Signal is a completely independent 501c3 nonprofit. Development is supported by users like you. No advertisements. No trackers. No kidding.

Signal was far easier to set up than I expected, even though it's fully encrypted. You can easily find friends using their phone numbers, and via your address book if you choose to import it. Works great with Android and desktop Linux, my two primary platforms, and is an ideal replacement for our Google Hangouts which is shutting down this year for non-business customers.

As far as an encrypted messenger, it's easier to use than the other options I've seen. It's a little bit glitchy, it tends to not notify of new messages if it's not integrated as your primary text app. That's also a feature that makes it a lot more user friendly, the ability to designate it as your primary text app- which means that you can text everyone from it but those contacts who are also using Signal will mean that the conversation will be encrypted.

Good concept....but constant lockups and freezes make the app unusable. Have to close down the app and restart several times per day. Get black screens, bad freezes, selecting manuel a phone number to message takes about 30 seconds to load to the message screen. Some people also are not receiving my text messages when it has been clearly sent from my phone. I have a Sumsung Galaxy S9 plus. I like the app, but needs work.

Few things need improvement: 1. Broadcast messaging should be available. 2. 24 hours status should be available. 3. Unable to view profile picture in full frame. 4. The ability to turn the sound of the video off while forwarding should be available. 5. Starred messages should be available. 6. Unable to view the updated photo of contacts. Old photo is visible.

Please can you fix chat bubbles, they're impossible to disable for me in Android 11, but it seems to be only a single conversation, the user has an older Android version, all the other conversations aren't doing it, some sort of bug somewhere, I can't stand the bubble so I'm going to end uo deleting Signal all together which is hate as I love Signal. I hope you guys see this, I've asked for support in the app but it's saying I'm not using the Playstore version...even though I am...

I have used this app for years, and never had an issue. Until the colours update. It is atrocious and destroys readability. I no longer enjoy this app, it is now a "lesser of two evils", as similar options are limited. Why assign a colour to the contact, and then have your chat bubbles either with that colour, or an entirely different one? It does not make any sense, and has ruined a perfectly good app.

Things to improve: 1. Doesn't show when people are online and last seen. 2. Can't set screen lock inactivity timeout less the 1 minute. 3. In the lock mode you can't see messages when swipe down from the top of the screen. I want just to see a message by swipe down the screen, and not to open the app, because if I open the app it will be seen that the message was read. 4. The app is slow, when you click on a chat it takes some time until it opens.

Like the fact that image files are not downloaded into my phone's gallery and hence, there is no need to delete them from internal storage. Also like that there is "no last seen" function, making it great for work-life balance! It would be good to have a desktop version which can work on company machines which does not allow its download, a web version is not as secured but maybe could work out something.

Used to be 5 stars. Since the most recent updates they changed a bunch of UI stuff and made it so YOUR chat bubble is colored rather than the person you are messaging. This is User Interface 101 stuff guys. Why on earth would you SWAP the colors and leave no option to switch back? What a moronic choice. The app hangs when sending media and often just outright quits on you while hanging, forcing you to rewrite everything.

Games!!! Please! Great app. If I could make a suggestion to take this to the next level . Is make it possible to play 2 player board and card games with contacts. I would pay to buy games or subscription . Make it so only 1 player has to have subscription to play a game. Simple Games like pool. Chess , checkers, gin rummy . Four. Six. Yatsee, dice chess, spite and malice, dominoes, whisk, Uno, a generic deck builder like dominion. Orthello / reversi. Simple arcades like pong, tanks. Foosbal
