Great concept. Needs work. Game clock is very frustrating. It will literally take you 1 whole quarter to drive the field and score. On defense (defense is "simulated"; to do not control or even manage it) the cpu can score in 30 seconds, even against a 5 star defense. Uniforms can be a problem. Sometimes the opposing team has pretty much the same color as you do. You can change it but it's not always very clear with the retro graphics. Hope they make this game better. Could be fun

game I love this game! But I feel like it could use a few updates before I give it a 5 star rating. 1. Speed doesn't feel balanced, you can have the fastest QB or RB and get caught in no time. 2. Juke sensitivity should be adjustable. There's times I'm trying to move to the side and the game doesn't respond or it accepts the dive input. 3. Coordinator base ratings mean nothing, no better play calling, non-star players are still terrible. 4. I don't see how team morale has an effect on gameplay.

  3. Kyle Rentz-avatar

tips Great game, tons of fun, but there are major flaws. Lack of control of the defense in any way other than having decent players and a good coordinator make any mistake made on offense costly, and since the passing mechanics of this game are heavily biased against the player, mistakes will happen often, and half the time it's not the player's fault. 50/50 balls should actually be 50/50 balls and not 10/90 like it feels. Injuries also happen way too often, but that may just be personal complaining.

  4. Erich Strack-avatar

app *Update - It doesn't matter what your player's speed is. The opposing team will always have four or five guys that can run twice as fast as yours.* The game was fun for a couple of seasons. However the artificially low salary cap prevents you from ever achieving anything other than winning occasionally. Even spending real money to buy game "coaching credits" does no good when you can't use them to sign better players. After playing four seasons in the game, this game has jumped the shark.

apk 2 stars, because, to hell with being able to play defense. Interceptions happen way too much. If your guy is covered 85% chance they will intercept they ball. And if this happens a lot in a row, they will get a huge lead, and you won't be able to caught up. Either draft players who can run and run the ball all the time or pass and throw to players who are ONLY wide open. And microtransactions, because that's just a thing now, and I am disappointed that we have gotten to this point.

  6. Curtis Brown-avatar

android Would have been 5 stars... I don't know if this is a bug but I threw an interception, no big deal, but the defender was slow. Then there was a formation of two other defenders on each side of the ball carrier. So no matter how many times my Offense dove at the ball carrier, the carrier never went down, as if he were untouchable. He slowly ran 80 yards back to the other end zone while my team dove at him numerous times to no avail. That is garbage! Please fix that.

ios Great game until..... This game was fun. I paid the $1 then started getting better players and that's when everything went down hill. Nobody can get open anymore. The opponent could have 1 star defense and play like the "legion of boom" Seahawks. It's ridiculously hard. There's passer interference. There's holding. And there's no way to control defense. It's all up to the mercy of the A.I. whether or not you win. PLEASE FIX! I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME BUT I CAN'T. ITS INFURIATING!!! thank you

full version This is a good game it brings me back to playing old Sega and Nintendo football games and I'm not too much into sports games. This though is fun, challenging , and definitely worth 0.99 . Oh it would be so awesome if these devs made a hockey game or basketball. I'd buy that too. Back to the game itself trading players , resting them , injury, and the simple control over all of it is great. Awesome game keep up this success

  9. Casey Marquardt-avatar

ing shirt Turnover rate is ridiculous even though I have my guy in front of defender and it's right to him. They rush all the time, can't get my guys 5 yards out before I get sacked. Also, if I have a HUGE win or even just a decent win, I have only ever had options to criticize players or defend that at my cost. Rarely have I seem the option to tell players good job at no cost. I paid for the game, stop micro charging my only ability to pay for better players. It's stupid and is irritating.

  10. Matt Hagen-avatar

ing bag Takes me back to the old tecmo Superbowl days, only there is more investment in player management. Only con in the game is that there is no control of the defense at all. You can't pick the plans either, but that's not a big deal I don't think. Update: rushing is way harder now with the recent limitations on sidestepping. Basically have to pass the entire time to have a shot at winning. I now throw probably 4 interceptions per game and am getting really frustrated...

  11. Nick Martinez-avatar

Annoying game. Funny after winning the retro bowl, all of a sudden my 5 star QB is an interception throwing machine. Or the fact my 4 star RB suddenly can't get past the line of scrimmage. Let's not mention my 5 star defense unable to hold a 2 star offense. Additionally, the inability to pick my own plays has cost me a few games in the 4th quarter. Of course the dev won't read this, but whatever. This game is trash once you get into the weeds of it. Don't believe the fake reviews.

  12. Joe Grizzle-avatar

    Joe Grizzle

I wanted to like this game because I loved super tecmo bowl back as a kid. This is not nothing close to it or any other, except maybe the look . This is not a playable game, it just don't play like football. Football is favorite sport, I would not sell this. It still would be crappy as a "free game" or app. No involvement on defense & you're very limited on offense. Nothing left, no game. Is it a sim ? No, just not for me but some seem to like it and that's cool. To each their own.

  13. Rob Heath-avatar

Great game for the first 3 seasons. Well worth the $1. Unfortunately, after that, the "difficulty" ramps up way too high. All this means is that your players that are way better than the defenders guarding them can't get open or break a tackle while the 1 star team you are playing scores at will. Also, interceptions start occurring constantly. Balls that should be caught get tipped around and ultimately intercepted. What was a very enjoyable game quickly becomes a frustrating mess.

  14. Bradley Peace-avatar

So far so good. After a couple of games, i got asked to pay. Was only 0.99 to buy. Curious how the coaching coins start getting divided out. Right now it's a very low amount, even for wins (can't upgrade anything), but hoping that changes as I get a few seasons under me. If not, I can see this becoming a "pay to advance" game, which, currently it is not, but I'm still not even through my first season yet. Either way I'm liking it and having fun at the moment.

  15. Ryan Day-avatar

After the most recent update, the defense will always beat your receivers. You have to under throw in order for them to have a chance in catching the ball. The defense will always intercept if they are close to your receivers. Speed and strength doesnt matter anymore. I have 2 offensive linemen with 4 star ratings and they still get ran over by the defense. Was fun before the update.

I did get many hours out of this game, but after those many hours I noticed that nothing changes. All the bad teams stay bad and all the good teams stay good. It's the same teams every year in the playoffs and I've played green Bay so many times in the retro bowl that it's boring. I would also like to see more mechanics. I don't know what exactly but after you play it for hours, it feels like it lacks something

  17. Dan Zoeller-avatar

    Dan Zoeller

Changed my rating from 4 stars to 3. The game play is still really good. It's simple, quick to get through a game. It's the franchise mode that bothers me. When you choose to coach a new team EVERY TEAM resets. A team could've been 5 stars across the board and won the retro bowl, the next year after you switch coaching jobs, that team is a 1 star team. It's unrealistic and ultimately it makes the easiest path to winning the retro bowl to switch teams and buy a couple of awesome free agents.

  18. Drew M-avatar

    Drew M

Similar to others experience. I live the general concept but there are major flaws in the game that make it artificially harder than it should be. Interceptions happen way too easily, other teams offense scores too easily and quickly. Coming from behind is impossible and some of the controls are a little wonky. Hope things get changed to improve but until then I'll probably leave it.

  19. Benny Lafell-avatar

    Benny Lafell

The catching mechanics need work. There are many throws where the ball bounces right off my reciever and then the ball bounces around once or twice more, he then he gains posession of the ball. Also there are many times I've seen ridiculous interception. Also why is there even an option to have the QB run the ball? It is a 100% failure lol. Oh and the color schemes for some of the teams bother me, for example New England, it looks like its all black and blue, zero red or white really.

  20. Ben Green-avatar

    Ben Green

After playing a bunch of this excellent game, one thing that's irked me is that when you move to a new team, they're always worse than the team I just worked hard to build up. I'd like a way to see the team I'm agreeing to take over first. Also, fan popularity combined with stadium quality should lead to faster increases in salary cap because you're making the owner more money.

  21. James Lowenberg-avatar

    James Lowenberg

I downloaded this thinking it would be like Tecmo Bowl, other than graphics it is very different. This has an utterly addicting front office simulator as you manage so many elements of your franchise. The gameplay itself is extremely fast and surprisingly engaging for having such control limitations. I would like to have some sort of control over the defense, but I guess that's life.

  22. Jeffery Bunn-avatar

I didn't want to pay the $0.99 to continue playing, so I looked for other similar football managers game. Struck out! This is a very fun, minimalistic football manager, that no one else does right. I got over the $1.00 purchase, and I'm glad I did. The only complaint is I wish it had the defense side of things. Hoping to see that in a future update.

  23. Michael de Guzman-avatar

    Michael de Guzman

Frustrating when you can't change the plays. I know it's made that way for simplicity but atleast give 3 options for each type of play. 3 running and 3 passing. Also.. I lost 50 coins when I accidentally restarted a new game. I fell asleep with the phone on my chest and well.. lost the coins I paid for. It would also be nice to have a jump or a spin button.. maybe limit to how many times you can use it per play but it would be nice.

  24. The Wizard-avatar

    The Wizard

This new update made the game objectively worse. Instead of addressing the fact that you need to use cheap gimmicks in order to move the ball downfield they just nerfed the ability to do so. All skill positions are now even slower so no more deep ball, and they are more likely to drop a pass even if they are completely open. Running the ball is still completely useless only made worse. And the opposing defense is only better because of these changes. It was more fun when in the previous version.

  25. Noah Wilcox-avatar

Absolutely incredible. One suggestion though; during a new season, when asked if you want to re-sign players or not, could we still be able to check other menus and not be forced to re-sign them on the spot? Maybe adding a set "continue" step that we can't pass until it's done, but I'd like to be able to back out and look at other things still.

  26. Damien Griffor-avatar

    Damien Griffor

Game requires skill and won't let you win for free, and most negative reviews are from people who aren't good enough at the game. That said, worth the purchase, a good time overall, and could be improved by the ability to play on defense (I'm sure the algorithm to have an AI play quarterback at different skill levels is tough) and other minor details (INTs and defensive AI, mainly). A handful of boring team formulas that grant you wins.

  27. Kevin Sunthimer-avatar

    Kevin Sunthimer

It's a fun game for a bit but the passing mechanics on it are horrid! Good luck trying to figure out where the ball is actually going and how far it will travel! It is inaccurate and you will end up throwing multiple interceptions each game. The passing game needs a revamp big time. Also, it would be nice to have an option of turning the salary cap off. If you do start playing, God help you if one of your players gets injured because there is a huge dropoff from starter to backup.

  28. Matthew Leon-avatar

    Matthew Leon

I have no idea what the other reviews are saying this game is great its deep, it is such a great nod to early Madden's and Tecmo Bowl games. I love it the only thing I would tell the dev's would be add more you can do like I don't know if you can kick someone off a team like release or be able to leave a team like resign or sell the team it would bring this game to the next level. But right now the game is almost perfect.

  29. Jacob Venker-avatar

    Jacob Venker

Really great concept that struggles. It's violently inconsistent, and many times players are meaningless. A 5 star running back does no better than a random 2.5 star. Why? Simply because they can't run through the line of scrimmage or manage to juke/win one tussle. Defense is basically pointless. It only makes a difference when you have 3 stars on the opposing teams offense. Finally passing is just bad. Most routes are worthless and interceptions are inconsistent.

  30. Jacob Swan-avatar

Fun game has a good concept. The game is good just ilI think it should be free. 1. The QB should be allowed to scramble. 2. (Optional) Make it so you can create a team. 3.You should be able to run backwards/forwards with your own control. 4. Rookies shouldnt cost so much. 5. Moral has no factor and bad players. every game criticized for playing bad. 6. Can't HURRY UP players to get ready to hike the ball when having like 30 sec and waiting all for the game to end

  31. Tony Perry-avatar

Please please please update the free agent pool. I think it's a little ridiculous that there's only one quarterback and one running back to choose from I feel this should be at least three of each with a three, four, five star player option to choose from with different pricing especially for us Gamers who play this game a lot which I do daily just a thought thanks for a great game

Good but it keeps crashing. I paid for the full version yet it still crashes when trying to cut/trade or sign players. Unacceptable and can't get a refund through play store as the full version is an IAP. Very sketch. Update on 2/29/20 it still crashes. I'm trying to play on a pixel 4 xl and everything is updated. The game won't even start now! I can send a screenshot nof the issue if I have an email... Update. All good. Company was in constant contact until we figured out the issue.

Love the old theme and the gameplay but having to pay for a low graphic mobile game is ridiculous. EDIT: I decided to buy the game despite all these reviews saying not to and they were right. The game becomes impossibly difficult with interceptions happening every 2 seconds, not being able to play defense which, although I have 5 star defense, I get beat by 1 star defense, ect. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Also -good idea- how about they do their job and actually play like what they're worth.

Fantastic game! The AI is a little off sometimes, especially when it comes to your 5* defense missing tackles against a 1* offense but a solid and fun experience! I'd like to suggest a simple feature: allow us to select a replacement for an injured player from either a random list of reserves or a separate list with it's own draft round and funding. If my 5* QB is injured for 4 games, I will lose 2 or 3 of those games even against 1* AI.

  35. Will Whitaker-avatar

I think it is a brilliant design and idea. Its super addictive. However it chooses, or it's just bad programming, when to screw you over. For two seasons I dominated with none of the ball bouncing off you bullcrap. Then, for two seasons every player misses the ball and it bounces off plus, the old formations changed. Before I has wonderful formations for my WR. All of sudden he only does posts. Makes no sense devs.

Great throwback game. I purchased the full version but have had great success without having to buy more coaching credits. The key is to get your fans to 100% ASAP. There are some minor annoyances here and there. My 5 start defense giving up TD after TD to 1 star offenses in some game is probably the worst problem right now. Also annoying is that my team seems to always lose whatever tiebreaker in the division standings. In my current season I am 13-3 as N.E. and so is Buffalo. I've beaten Buffalo twice but they are considered the division champ and have a playoff bye week while I'm in a wild card spot. What gives?

  37. Young Kim-avatar

    Young Kim

Good arcade game with a solid offense experience, but I'd like to see my team defend. I invest picks on Def players, so I want to play them and reap the benefits of a good draft. In the same vein where the Off has routes and QB's throws are "drawn," the ability for the player to draw routes for Def to predict opponent's plays can provide a very good B-side track to this fun yet unbalanced game. With the game currently limited to one type of experience, it can get boring quickly. 3/5

  38. Psycho Sheep-avatar

    Psycho Sheep

It was fun at first. Love the front office feature and the basic game mechanics are enjoyable. Then the interceptions started....and kept coming....and coming.....and coming. Has single handedly taken the game from an easy 5 star to a 4 star with the frequency that they happen. I don't mind a little challenge and having to use some technique, but the interceptions are just a little too overboard. Fix that and I'll gladly give you your star back.

  39. Duplaps Gip-avatar

    Duplaps Gip

Interceptions happen A LOT because the defenders seem to have this magic arm that grabs the ball even if they are behind your receiver and the passing interference that happens from the AI is annoying...all because I payed the $1 that all of sudden I was forced to pay in order to keep wasn't like during the unmentioned "demo" segment of this game..but long as you get paid right? Luckily it's only a dollar so I don't feel like I was completely jacked around. 👎

  40. Sean Sinderbrand-avatar

    Sean Sinderbrand

clunky as hell when auto defense takes over and when there's an interception on either side, but the absolute "clunkiest" part of this game is the blocking/ball running AI.. come to think of it, the AI in general is meh... another downside is the coaching credits. they dont cost much, but if your not paying for them you may have to wait a few seasons to pay for a decent upgrade, or to sign a free agent or a good coach. 5 stars is clearly the nostalgia factor.. the feeling of this game is fun!

  41. David Brewington-avatar

    David Brewington

Has some serious problems. The interception rates are unforgivable and it only becomes a problem after you've paid them. Interceptions on any play that isn't a perfect wide open pass, no control over defense, terrible running game, phantom missed field goals to help computer cheat. I've played the same matchup at the end of a season over and over and over until I win so I can make the playoffs. And no lead is safe. My 5 star defense will give up 7 on every series by to 1 star offense.

  42. Keith MacIntyre-avatar

    Keith MacIntyre

Still a few bumps in the road. The biggest drawback is balancing "coach credits," which are far & few between compared to costs- (and needs to be explained that free agents need BOTH salary & CC (for some reason,) rather than appearing as either/or). Even if it was ad supported for CCs, this would be acceptable. CCs can, of course, be purchased for real cash, but for those that paid to unlock full game, there needs to be a steady influx (1-3 per game week?) Full game will cost a $1 to unlock.

Certainly enjoyable and love that it's affordable. Played 5 seasons and changed review for improvement opinions. RPG aspect is great. Would love to see long-term dev added. Longer reasonable contracts, higher cap maybe. Can't re-sign more than one or two players, and afford to use your draft picks. Really have no need to look more than one season ahead. Some unknowns in draft would be interesting. Maybe a possible range instead of exact stat for player? Scouting teams before changing/playing

  44. Preston Jackson-avatar

Amazing game. But I think that the option for 1 min quarters, simulating games, and actually playing defense would really help. Also maybe have buttons for the juke and diving would help, I think instead of always having to start as this terrible team start as a decent team (not amazing) or having 1 star like many teams do. Also if you added where players can have multiple trade offers and you can trade them even if they dont want to would help. Increasing the salary cap each year would help too

  45. Angry Cuck-avatar

    Angry Cuck

This game looked and felt like it was shaping up to be my favorite mobile app but it feels as though every attempt I try my team just will not and cannot improve. And then with my bad teams they send you immediately into teams that double your skill and its then just a game of trying to run out the clock and pray to God that you can score with 10 seconds or less on the clock or else.

  46. Tamario Gibbs Jr-avatar

    Tamario Gibbs Jr

I think the game is amazing and headed into the right direction, I do wish to see more gameplay features to come and also a little less injuries. Maybe add in a (Retro Pro Bowl) game and awards so I can see my players accomplishments feel as if they mean something. Also a statistics category so I can see who's leading in what around the league, just small things to keep the game fresh and less same thing every season.

Completely addicting. I don't ever get anything but free games and this one popped up in my suggestions. When I got through my free games I had to get the full version because this game is a perfect phone game! Games go by very fast so it makes easy to pick up and play quick game but also has enough moving parts to every detail of managing the team and playing that you feel very invested in the game

  48. Kyle Picard-avatar

Too easy to lose your QB for multiple games, can't carry a second qb. Your backup can't throw half as far and most of the plays require more range than the backup can generate. On top of that, you have a starting budget of 100m and it grows by 10m a year. However, your starting qb's contract jumps to 30m after 2 years making it near impossible to keep a roster of decent players. I don't know how the devs plan to monetize on this game, if feels like it's unreasonably difficult for no reason.

A brilliant game, which keeps you coming back for more. I just stumbled across this game about a month ago and haven't been able to put it down. The simple to learn controls combined with the difficulty mastering these makes it a complete winner for me. The way the difficulty level adjusts depending on the time you've been playing just keeps me coming back for the challenge.

  50. Eric Robson-avatar

A fun diversion, but after a few seasons of dealing with the same lop-sided flaws it becomes more frustrating than entertaining. Even with a 5 star defense with Max training, the D always seems to behave like a swinging door, letting in nearly every point possible and there's nothing you can do about it. QB performance seems to be meaningless as you can have high marks in all traits but still "throw" game-spoiling interceptions time and again even when their defense is far behind your receiver.

  51. Zane Reinard-avatar

    Zane Reinard

This game is fun and addicting with its Tecmo Bowl like game play which is why I gave it 4 stars. The reason for the lack of 5 is a few things that bother me. One being after the first season the game seemed to get harder which I respect. Even though my team is rated 5 stars and my QB has a literally perfect game it will take me a solid minute or more to march down field but if I give the opposing team 30 seconds they can score a TD and beat me with no time left. Also pass interference is bad.

  52. Galactiic-avatar

I love the game entirely, it well thought out and executed. I have a game breaking bug that I want to adress, though. when you go for a two point conversion and you catch the ball out of bounds it gives you an extra 6 points and thinks you made a touchdown. you can repeat this forever to get an unlimited amount of points.

Decent game, reminds me of Techmo Bowl from way back when. Has rosters and team decision making which I think is cool. Only let's you play a few games before you have to buy for 99 cents but never saw a single ad!! I felt it was worth a buck to a developer who didn't spam me with ads and made a pretty fun little game. (Rated 4 on graphics since it was 8 bit intentionally)

  54. Scott Parsons-avatar

Okay here we go! The retro feel is amazing. Classic feel no real in app purchase besides 99 cents to play unlimited. Completely offline game play and this game already contains no ads. Down fall. Injuries are to common. And the interceptions happen waaaaay to often now. No matter if you have max speed on your wide recievers its rare they break away from the defense and prepare for that turn over of you throw and they didnt break away. 3 of 5 stars since update. Also add spot for backup QB

Thank goodness for the update. The gameplay is way better. Thus far, theres only 3 things I wish were improved: 1. Choose the play(running all go routes in short red zone situations is redundant and happens A LOT) 2. Play D(tired of not being able to stop KC or BUF offenses) 3. Cap increase over $150 M(Ive played 10 years with 6 different QBs, bc im not gonna pay one guy ~25% of my cap and its frustrating to constantly build a QB up only to draft another in 2 years) Otherwise, I LOVE THIS GAME!

This game is good, however, it could be better. Changing teams at the end of the season is pointless. You change teams and lose all your players and stuck from the start only earning 1 credit per game win making it extremely hard to get any good players. Even winning games I'm punished by some players not having a good game and penalising the whole team by either losing 1 credit or taking a hit on morale.

Impressive game! I overdosed on Techmo bowl, and this is a great improvement. Better than madden. Can you widen the field and increase linemen gaps to see inside runs better? I want to see my star lineman in action. A short wishlist: If champion; display trophy in my Front office. If playing in the Retro bowl; fix up the stadium field. Show how much a player's salary increased to determine if they're worth keeping.

Great game! One major oversight though. This is one of the best phone games I've ever played. There's just one glaring oversight. There's no pause button while actually in a game. This definitely isn't a deal breaker but it's annoying. Otherwise, I love everything! It's simple enough to not overwhelm me but actually think a bit.

Easily the best mobile sports game I've played. Caters to exactly what mobile does well. Simple to pick up, challenging, quick enough games to play when sitting on the... Wherever you sit to play mobile games, and a nicely fun sports management side to break up the games. Game's still being updated too so I imagine it'll only get better.

Id love to give this 4 stars. But before i fix this review Retro Bowl must fix this problem: Fumbles were extremely rare for the first 5 seasons i played with mediocre to good players. I finally earn a 5 star reciever with Max Catching. Now he is 99% of the time the only player who fumbles with MULTIPLE fumbles per game! Absolutely ridiculous!! Right before i gave him his final upgrade in catch, never fumbled. Nearly impossible, then the max stage, fumble probability seems to be 50% or worse! :(

Great game! SERIOUSLY! SO FUN! Almost 40 seasons in and it's worth the 99 cents. I have built several types of teams and switched franchises several times. Major fixes still needed 1) Carolinas jersey scheme has no powder blue? 2) coaching credits need to be a sliding scale like fans. Logic for credits don't work if I lose them when I have it. Still require CC but at a % of scale 3) Draft pick trading and FA options 4) pick plays on offense, watch defense 5) vary Franchise quality

A fun and cheap mobile football game that's pretty fun. It has some microtransactions but you definitely dont need to spend any money. You do have to spend $1 to unlock the full game. After playing many seasons at this point (in year 17 at this point) I will say I wish there was a bit more flexibility when it comes to signing contracts on players. Other than that this game, especially for $1, is well worth it.

very rarely pay for app's. However, i paid for this one! Really good fun. update: found a glitch in the game during season 10. Developer were swift to respond. However, I have had to re-install and start again. A offer was made to refund in game purchases. None had been made but a good gesture. Still 5Stars!

Fun, can be very difficult at times, but it's rewarding when you do win Edit: ever since the last update the defense is now able to intercept the ball even if you throw it far away from their direction. It sometimes seems like the ball goes over them, but then it warps right into their hands and it's very annoying.

Great game, good fun, AT FIRST, so I played as Cincinnati was great for 5 seasons, won the bowl, had a five star team on offence and defence, then took the new england job. Now came my biggest mistake, I purchased some in game currency, once I used this it was if the game no longer wanted me to progress, I had a 5 star team on both sides but my RB couldn't get past a 1 star defence, my QB threw interception after interception and the opposition are too quick to get past DONT PAY FOR CC

Game cheats horribly bad. Passes to the left side of the field feel wonky. Its like you have to aim off target to counter adjust vs the right side of the field where you can put it right on the wr. Every cpu team seemingly has max speed players that can chase you down from behind even if you have max speed and stamina. The more you win the more harder it cheats. Playing the 0-5 bucs 2 star offense and defense and they never miss a tackle. Score td's every drive. No time run off for the cpu.

Please make the punting and the defensive simulation visible and playable. It would give a much more rewarding playing experience if players can fully enjoy and control the game, both defensively and offensively, visually. Overall, this game is awesome! I love the simplicity of its user interface and gameplay; the controls are very responsive and accurate too. I highly recommend this game to all football fans out there. I hope that its developers shall continue to improve this great game!😉👍

This game is so much fun. You get to manage a salary cap, decide trades with other teams, play full seasons, play as the offense in a surprisingly interactive way. The offensive plays have to be my favorite part. It's very engaging and challenging. Easily one of the best football games on the app store.

Could use some work. I'd like to recruit defensive backs for wide receivers as the catch everything near them. While my 4 star receivers play hot potato with the ball. Passing system is aggrivatingly bad as he passes no where near my passer target dot also cashed in coins for the best QB I could find hoping that would fix it, but nope rating doesnt much matter. Also make the time the other team has the ball more realistic. The other team had the ball for 1 1/2 quarters.

It's an addicting and simple take on football and coaching. It offers opportunities to buy coins to upgrade quicker but nowhere near necessary. I cant wait to play through several seasons for 99 cents 👏 I would make it 5 stars if running the ball was somewhat of a reasonable option, but I only get about 1 or -1 yards a carry even with good RB's and maybe let's add defense to the game too?

I never comment on games but this is a pure gem! Gameplay is great, the retro graphics are awesome and the best part is that it does not take up much space on my device. I have been looking everywhere for a great game like this. It also has a manager like feel as you get to upgrade players, buy players and coaching staff. The draft at the beginning of the season is a neat addition as you get to pick star players to boost your team. Dynamite truly does come in small packages as this game shows.

This is one of the top three games I have ever played on a phone. I install, play and delete games all of the time. So many games are ruined by ads, wonky game play mechanics, or that horrid pay to play/win model most games are consumed by. The retro style is great and nostalgic, easy to learn controls, AND NO ADS! Best $1 you will spend on your phone. So much fun working your way up to coach your favorite team. 10/10

Fun game but man the d seems to pick off every ball after the first season. Way too many injuries, interceptions and reasons to decrease player morale. After season 4, teams with 1 star offenses score nonstop against 5 star defenses and 1 star defenses pick off everything. Star players go down for multiple games constantly. This needs to be less frequent. The last thing is that this game needs an in game menu and exit game button.

Fantastic. Like Tecmo Bowl, but deeper -- with trades, coaching changes, owner meetings, choices that have (mild) consequences, even stadium and facilities improvements. Defense is simulated, but I never really liked playing defense in these games all that much anyway. The music is great. And the aesthetic, of course, is a wonderful, warm old friend. Note: You get to play five games free, but then you have to purchase for $0.99.

Really fun game, tactics and overall management Edit: A few more days in and they defense side of things is annoying. It's all simulated, but opposition teams seem to score pretty much all the time against my team even if they are poor and my team has a high defense rating. I think it's at least partially broken in that regard

This game is very very fun to play, it is like an old school madden type game but you can literally build your team up like in madden. Its quality is great and controls are super easy. The game is actusly balanced and fun to play when your board. I've played like 5 seasons so far and won 1 retro bowl but to be honest I wish there where more things to do, maybe like a practice mode or 1v1 pass and play or something like that but other wise i strongly recommend 10/10

Great aspect of old school but rigged as hell, I played the cowbkys who are 5-9 and I am 10-3 I start over after losing every time for 47 games and counting how bout you stop with the rigging of a simple game! I should be able to play a team and at least one in 32 beat them since there is only 32 teams and the one I am playing is one of them!! Boo 👎 make it now 56 times still can't beat them this is BS please refund my money back its not even worth the money I spent for the full version

Algorithm decides if you win or not, not you or your players. If the game wants you to lose, then all your passes will be dropped or intercepted. And the other team WILL score every time and you literally can't do anything about it. Drop the cheap pre set algorithm and let the players decide the outcome.

  79. Coy Keaton-avatar

Like TecmoBowl, but newer! It's been a bit since I first got the game and some of the shine has died, so here's more review. It's still pretty fun, but there are problems with it. One in particular can be almost game breaking. At some point, no matter how good my QB and wideout are, if a defender is near them the ball gets picked. Another is not being able to choose your plays. Sometimes I need a bomb zone okay and the computer wants to run comebacks. Still fun, just flawed.

  80. Clive Medlin-avatar

    Clive Medlin

Edit: the last update completely broke the game. It's impossible to get through a game without three interceptions minimum. Defenders will literally cross the body of the receiver to intercept the ball even if you lead the player in opposite direction. I've put 20+ hours into this game so it's not that i don't know how to play. The game is broken and beginner to intermediate players shouldn't buy until updated.

This is actually a more in depth game that what I was expecting from an 8-bit mobile game, but I'm glad it is! This is such an addicting and fun game. Only the first four games are playable on the free version. After that you have to pay a small fee to keep playing, but it is totally worth it for how much fun I have with it.

  82. Chris britt-avatar

Good but frustrating turnovers. Way too many interceptions if the ball comes anywhere near a defender chances are it's going to be intercepted. Defense is also silly I have 4.5 star defense and even against 3 star offense it's almost always a TD scored against. I basically never punt there's no point as D is guaranteed to give up points no matter what. Love the GM side of the game end of seasons are fun making decisions.

  83. Gentry Perry-avatar

    Gentry Perry

The game is really good, great gameplay and mostly fair mechanics. However, the major issue is the grind. There is so much grind involved to gain enough coach credits to build a decent team. If you're playing well you can get 3 coach credits per game but if your team is in the dumps then it becomes a horrible grind. I wish you could simulate a season to make it go by faster, when teams get as bad as they do it feels terrible to have to play through sometimes 2 seasons to get a team back on track

  84. Michael Bitz-avatar

    Michael Bitz

Update 2: it's so frustrating that I've dropped playing. This is really unfortunate. Update: Since the last update turnovers are crazy. I'm all for improvements but this makes the game to frustrating and less fun. Lots of fun. Simple but very enjoyable controls. One improvement would be to allows users to configure the volume up and down buttons to controls players when they are running. Still five stars.

  85. Michael Smith-avatar

    Michael Smith

Paid for the full version. The players get soooooo much worse as seasons go on. I won the retro bowl with a 3 star offense and 3 star defense first season then struggled to make playoffs with a 5 star defense and 4.5 star offense the next season. Third season and now my team fumbles it 3-4 times a game when a single fumble didnt happen once my first season. The "difficulty" scales by making your team just have worse luck. Fun for a bit but loses all value by 3rd or 4th season

Interception! Interception! Interception! Interception! Really need to fix how easy interceptions are for the computer. They are all Spud Webb with Jerry Rice hands and Go Go Gadget arms. Receivers should be more intuitive\adapting and defenders should not 99% intercept passes when they are anywhere near the ball when in between the QB and receiver.

  87. David Ezell-avatar

Great game. There are a couple minor things that I thing could use some fixing though. It's kind of annoying that there are no penalties whatsoever and the AI will commit pass interference constantly. I also wish you could call a timeout to save a couple seconds at the end of the half/game.

  88. Justus Mazycker-avatar

    Justus Mazycker

Needs a truck feature, needs to be some form of actually watching the defense when you're not on offense. Injuries should happen in game and not after the game. Needs more skill moves. Add sound effects please. If you fix these problems, I'll rate this game 5 stars. I've spent money on this game and I wouldn't want it to be in vain.

  89. Robert Phillips-avatar

    Robert Phillips

Has potential but needs polishing. QB arm strength stats and wr route speeds are not on par, cannot fully utilize max QB arm strength due to pass rush is too fast or o line is failing to sustain blocks long enough (I've tried several setups to accomplish this test by drafting all o line and a wr, and no o line and a multi wrs, results were consistent with practically no time to throw a max deep ball.) Turnover rate is a bit high and it seems 50/50 balls are not so 50/50 against 1on1 coverage.

  90. Fred W-avatar

Really fun game at first but after playing a while like 4 seasons computer gets to hard to beat. Almost seems like they slow your players down and speed the computer's players up. Need to up salary cap an expand the roster so you can have back up quarter back and running back cause if either one is injured it's pointless playing the game cause the computer players are never injured so they just blow you out.

Fun game that is simple yet immersed in multiple aspects of building a football franchise. The game play is really good despite it's simple graphics. Being able to read defensive coverage and keying in on timing will increase your chances of success. Highly recommend giving the game a try.

  92. Philip B-avatar

Paid for and love it. Biggest grievance is the clock screwing you over. CPU always scores touchdown with next to nothing left on the 4th quarter clock. Infuriating. Also, if CPU team has 1* defence, they'll still have a lightning fast player who'll catch you. This defeats the purpose of investing in coaching credits for new offence players. Please fix this, as it's getting to the point of being 1-2 games away from uninstalling.

Very fun game. Cross between Madden to mode and Tecmo bowl. Love it! Edit: 03/09/20. March 3rd update ruined the game. The defense regardless of star ranking intercepts everything. Nerfed the side stepping toooooo much. Can barely make an offensive gain as the defense is stupid fast. Barely see a stiff arm anymore. Not cool.

The game feels like a scam. Actually I think that it just has a balancing problems. The game gets too hard as you continue playing. There are too many factors to mention. The game is too easy at the start and too hard after a few hours of playing. I've started over numerous times and confirmed this is the case. It's actually a very fun game to play with a very nice mechanic. I very much wish that the game could be rebalanced and be fun for longer.

  96. Fireman14t-avatar

I love this game, but there are some very big issues. Firstly, it does not inform you that you can only play a few games before you have to buy it. Even though it's cheap it's still a poor business practice. Secondly, if the defender is down and to the right, and I throw the ball up and to the left why can that defender intercept it? That's silly. Lastly, after a loss sometimes your only two options are to criticize the team or a specific person. The false sense of choice. Make a neutral opt.

  97. Mike Howard-avatar

It's pretty fun for the most part. It cheats like a girl named Kandi who lives in a trailer park, though, so be ready to be frustrated sometimes. Like how I pass a ball and just as it gets the receiver the defender starts tangling up with him. Or how a receiver will juggle a clean throw with no defenders around, then have it pop into a defender's hands 5 yards away. Stuff like that.

Overall the game is a decent nod to Super Tecmo Bowl with added front office options. I enjoy the front office aspect of the game. That is really fun. That said, the passing mechanics are terrible. Here are a couple ideas. Try to implement something where you tap the receiver you want the QB to throw to. Or, since this is more of a management game, have a list of plays to choose from and let the computer run the play. The current passing mechanic is enough to make me not want to continue.

Fun to play but opponents are ridiculously unbalanced. Every close throw is an Int.It seems the ratings don't matter. If you have a receiver with max speed you still can't outrun any1.Not even 1star defenses. After some time,it starts to get annoying.Your opponent scores almost every time even if you're better.i quit playing because of it.Every throw to a receiver in coverage is an Int. Ridiculously unbalanced.Scores of+20y plays are barely impossible. Could be a killer game if fixed.

I love this game! I was surprised when I had to pay, but it was only $0.99. It's almost like having madden in your pocket (excluding madden mobile, it's not the same). I also really enjoy the retro aspect. All and all, I think this game is great. Edit: I have found a minor exploit that can be abused if the player wants. If you close the app during a game, the app will restart and you are taken to the main screen as if the game had never happened. You can restart a game infinity to win.
