Newsvoice is a free crowdsourced news app with the aim to fix the news. We give you a personalized news feed by aggregating major news sites, as well as foreign and independent media. Each news story shows multiple perspectives and sources.

💥Power to the community: Newsvoice is much more than another news aggregator, we move the power over the news to our readers. This gives you a truly independent and unbiased news source. Join our growing community to upvote stories that you think are important, write summaries and headlines, and add new links.

☝️Unbiased: The news we read affect almost every aspect of our lives. Mainstream media is biased and owned by only a handful of corporations. Often they have an agenda of their own and fail to provide unbiased information. Filter bubbles in social media cause you to only see stories from sources you like or that your friends are sharing. On top of this there is a huge problem with fake news. By bringing you links to all credible sources of a story and tagging them with their bias (left, right, independent etc), you gain awareness and the possibility to make more conscious decisions of which sources you read and trust.

✍️Deep dive: If you just want to read a quick digest of a story, our growing community of volunteers contributes by writing unbiased summaries. Our strict guidelines and moderation ensure that you get a high quality, unbiased news feed. If you are really interested in a story you can always dig deeper and get a great variety of links to sources reporting from every perspective. If a story is missing from the news feed, you can always add it yourself. When you’ve added a new story or a link to a new source, your submission is quickly reviewed by our experienced team of moderators.

Newsvoice currently covers the following categories:

The new design is overengineered, IMHO. The previous design was more functional and worked very well, now it takes ages to scroll through the news list and the fade-in of the pictures is quite distracting. In some cases the text is also hard to read if the image is bright. Won't remove any stars of course, your concept is awesome and I'm thankful for your work. But please add a setup option to change back to the old style, I always prefer functionality ahead of fanciness.

So far it is really helpful, it doesn't publish covid death numbers every day like most "news" sources which just wears you down and it also gives you an array of sources at a glance, though you shouldn't do anything at a glance - sometimes it is best for ones mental health or production to do so. I would up it to a 5 star if it used more trusted source like The Hill

Updated Review: the comments ruin the app. There's plenty of other platforms where people can voice their opinion. Why can't we have a platform that simply presents the news from multiple angles? The comment section is the epitome of what is wrong with our political discourse. It's 99% name calling and demonizing of the "other side". It's a shame because this app actually takes a good approach to the news by aggregating views from multiple news sources so people can see various perspectives.

The new ui design made every aspect of functionality worse, though there have been recent improvements to try and get it back to where it was originally. Overall the app was better a year or so ago, before words started being censored, source links seemingly being filtered out for arbitrary reasons, and functionality just getting worse with every new 'feature' that gets added.

Newsvoice is a great tool for checking your own biases if you use it effectively. Agree with most other reviews that this UI update seems to have tried to fix something that wasn't broken, hence only 4 stars. Also noticed another review complaining about the "inclusion of comments" having propogated "far right leaning harassment and misinformation". This review is at best a misinformed person and at worst an attempt at cancelling Newsvoice as to my knowledge the app has always had commentary.

This app makes some attempt at identifying bias but is not all that good in this regard. For example, non-USA sources like the BBC and Daily Mail are labelled as "Europe". Not only is the former known as centre-left and the latter for a right bias, but the UK is hardly representative of Europe, as BREXIT has proven. ALL news sources should have TWO labels, one specifying the COUNTRY, not the continent, AND the known bias, which can be looked up at Media Bias/Fact Check and similar sites.

Really like this app. Helps give you both sides of the argument so you can make your own decision and there are plenty of people to argue with if thats what you like.

  8. Tyler Traxler-avatar

shows right left and center biased news. helps create a more objective view of events and expose biases of both sides by comparing them to the center . highly reccomend.

The app itself is fine, but what was once unbiased has quickly become anything but. The community is strongly leaning in one direction, other opinions are drowned out or not up voted. Articles summaries hide a lot of dog whistle phrasing and often link unrelated articles to appear nonbiased. It's community driven... and the community isn't for me. Also the UI is just odd. It's narrow, almost claustrophobic, and hard to find anything not on the main feed.

There's a good idea for a news aggregator here, but it's buried under an absolute trash fire of comments from fringe lunatics promoting, at best, partisan tabloid stories over real news coverage.
