Monospace is a minimal notes and writing app, built from the ground up with a designed-for-touch UI. It get's rid of the standard editing features you'd find in standard writing and notes apps and replaces them with a modern-styled, essentials-only formatting popup. Monospace Writer supports Bold, Italics, Strikethrough, Bullet, Quote and a bunch of size related formatting styles. Monospace has built in internal sync (Pro package only) that lets you keep all your devices on the latest version's of your notes, and let's you edit anywhere. Monospace Writer's hashtags feature replace the classic folder system. Simply add hashtags (which can be nested) to the last line of a file and Monospace will take care of the file/folder organisation for you. Monospace Writer allows for exporting via Markdown, meaning it has copy and paste support for a huge amount of services, including Wordpress and Tumblr. Useless! A careless swipe or 2 deleted 2000 words, closed the document, & made it impossible to recover the work. It was upsetting to loose that work. It's very easy to make this mistake! I've experimented with several files created to test this. I've never such a problem before with any text editor. Too bad because I actually really like it otherwise. The utter carelessness of this interface design, permitting deletion of the entire contents, without access to useful undoe feature fixing it.

Its simplicity is alluring, but can only export on page/file at a time. Limited export function is a major failing of this app, sad to say.

Absolute garbage. Full of glitches. Bold script, italics and underlining will randomly change when opening and closing. Today hit the back button once and it deleted ALL of my writing. Hit the forward arrow hoping it would restore, but nothing. Absolute garbage.

Purchased pro version but can't access pro features. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the problem continues. I love the main simplicity of the app, but the bugs are very irksome.

Beautiful layout. I was looking for some formatting features, but there is no trial version to see what the premium version is like. All we know is that this version doesn't offer them.

Okay app, but it gets awfully clunky when trying to organize notes a lot of notes into their files. It's fairly buggy, too. For example, whenever you hit the back button to exit a note, it automatically goes to the top of the list instead of remembering where you were on the last screen. This gets annoying and confusing when you have a lot of notes.

This app is beautiful! I won't use anything else, because nothing is minimal enough. Unfortunately, this app hasn't been maintained for several years and there are some frustrating bugs such as Google Drive sync not working, formatting issues, and scrolling to the top of the list after backing out of an item. I hope to do a rewrite of this app someday, because I love it so much.

Inefficient folder navigation & sorting. Only individual files sort by name or date, not folders w/ multiple notes, the order is frustratingly arbitrary & I can't order my notes the way I need to. More sorting options such as size, word count, etc would help, for both unmarked notes & folders. Needs better navigation of folders list. After exiting a note or backtracking through the app, the app defaults to the top of the folders list & I waste time scrolling back to my place to find the next note I want to edit, which is tedious & time consuming bc I have dozens of notes & folders that I browse through & edit regularly. There should be tabs where you can toggle or swipe between folders & unmarked individual notes, instead of lumping all notes into one long list. The search function doesn't help much either bc the keywords only bring up individual notes & not the folders they are sorted in, which means you have to remember every single specific note by name instead of the category you filed it under, ie "resonant breathing techniques" instead of "meditation" or "mental health"

Google drive sync Pro functionality doesn't work. Furthermore, reading around online seems to indicate that the developer has abandoned this app. Don't shell out money for the pro version. Night mode works well, which is what initially drew me to this app. Disappointed that I spent three bucks on software that doesn't deliver explicitly what it promises behind the paywall.
