The boating portal marinamap.com, one of the largest port directories on the internet with over 4,000 marinas listed, also offers a free smartphone app for Android phones. The app uses the GPS location data of the smartphone (if released by the user) to show the user the nearest marinas, marinas and anchorages in the vicinity on a map. Alternatively, it is possible to search for any geographical position by clicking on a world map.

The app also offers a route navigator for the Staande Mastroute (for sailing boats with a standing mast) through the Netherlands with current opening times of bridges and locks.

The app currently shows over 300 anchorages - mainly in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. The app also lists around 4,000 marinas and marinas, mainly in the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Mediterranean. Usually, a link to the website of marinas and sailing clubs is also displayed so that you can get first-hand information.

The app also provides access to the marinamap.com social network, which allows users to communicate with each other, post tips or reviews about berths, or follow posts about specific ports.
