LightBlue® Explorer can connect you to all of your devices that use Bluetooth Low Energy (also known as Bluetooth Smart, or Bluetooth Light). With LightBlue® Explorer, you can scan, connect to and browse any nearby BLE device. Full support of read, write, and notify is included. You can view the signal strength (RSSI) in real time to get an idea of how close you are to the BLE device. The log feature allows you to keep track of all significant BLE events that occur while using the app (e.g., device discovery, connection, reading, writing). Use LightBlue® Explorer to test your new BLE Heart Rate Monitor, temperature sensor, TI CC2540 Keyfob, Nordic uBlue, Panasonic PAN1720, etc. LightBlue® Explorer is also ideal for developers wanting to test the firmware of their own BLE peripherals. Key Features: - Scan for any BLE peripherals - See basic device info (UUID, RSSI) at a glance - Browse characteristics and services - Register for notifications - Read characteristics - Write to characteristics in hex - Thoroughly log BLE events and share them in plain text format

Use the app for all of 10 seconds. The app requested GPS Location (I see no need why a Blue tooth needs GPS data) and apparently I need to enter an email address. The two menu buttons I found had no allowable functions. With no functions, It was uninstalled.

Better than most apps when it comes to the ads but it doesnt work for my earbuds and I'm only missing one but still if it also looked for things like earbuds or would name ALL BLUETOOTH DEVICES then it could be useful for more people and would get a solid 5/5 but it's so confusing

I ran the app. This cannot be right. With "Show paired devices" on, I have found 7 devices I can connect to, but I don't own any of these devices. What is going on here? 05/23/20 Update: Got it! thank you for clearing that up. Sorry I have two more question. When show paired is checked, it shows me a list of devices. These devices are not mine. So #1 devices do not have to be in my wifi network for me to see them on the list? #2 how am I connecting to of these devices when they aren't mine

Great, but no notifications? It would be amazing if you could subscribe to a characteristic and then receive in app notifications when the characteristic receives a notification of its own. I think this behavior occurred in the past? But it doesn't happen anymore (Note 20 Ultra). Please go back to doing that!

I see that there have been problems with reading Characteristic User Descriptions before. I can't get LightBlue to read them now, but it used to work great. I have a recording from April that shows LightBlue naming all of the custom characteristics of my custom service by their Characteristic User Descriptions. It's the only BLE client I've seen that could do this. Now, it only names the first one. And, nothing happens when I click on Characteristic User Description under DESCRIPTORS. EDIT: Excellent! Release 1.9.0 does indeed fix the problem with reading Characteristic Name. Thanks!

Hangs routinely, so I had to stop and restart it routinely. Two other programs were more reliable. I did learn from using this app that apparently most BT devices can't be identified even by manufacturer, so at least I got one thing out of it. Just not my device. But that's not their fault.

I would rate this thing 5 stars before the recent update. Before I was able to see the user description with the uuid for individual characteristics in the explorer. Now I have to navigate to the correct uuid and go into it to see the characteristic user description. Also, the Hex keyboard does not seem to work right. I can only type in one character at a time, no more. I also can not delete the single character written.

Skip this program if you don't like your software being snarky at you. Seriously, some of the response strings are "I don't do anything" and "Stop poking me" and "I can do this all day." Admittedly, I only installed this software to interface with an AT-09 module. It was a recommendation of my vendor and I sort of suspect that my module is faulty or was improperly set up by my vendor. It's not clear why my vendor thinks this program will help, and it's not completely clear where I should be clicking to get things going. So snark is pretty annoying at this point.

I use this app in my PhD research projects to debug the BLE-enabled custom embedded systems that I develop. The app is very user-friendly, has most of the useful features, and is improving day-by-day.

Where can I read the contents of 'Characteristic User Description (2901)' descriptor? It would be very usefull when exploring services of undocumented BLE devices. Other than that, the app is greap and your blog is awesome! Update: Thanks, now it's even better!:)
