Not ready for prime time. If you are interrupted by a phone call it quits. If you need to pause it doesn't restart where the program is at that time. Need to quit the app and then restart. Really annoying. I would give no stars if that was possible. It constantly quits and you have to restart it. Way worse than the previous version.

This is the worst phone app I've every used. Í'm a KQED donor, but no way to block pledges on this app like in a browser. Also, plays an ad every time to start-up or change networks moving around. The previous app was very unreliable. I recently updated to the latest version and it is almost completely useless. I've had to rely on listening to KQED on my phone or laptop browser to get a reliable connection at home or on the go.

Edit: I'm so happy you fixed the wifi issue! It is so much better. Thank you! Original: Please fix your app so it doesn't cut the feed and play the intro/sponsored by message everytime a phone switches between wifi and Mobile network. I constantly miss the most important segments of the news because of this. I'm a sustaining member, and this is infuriating.

Fail. Thanks! But its still broken! I reinstalled the app. Same thing. Im up to date. Its you. Thanks for the response but no help. I give you additional star for bridge to website. Listen live is immediate. But your player is just dead

Frequently just stops playing. Gets stuck rebuffering. Have to stop and restart the app. First app launch crashes in a few seconds second launch usually work. Old app was better as it just worked. Using a Samsung S21 on Tmobile.

For local bay area news nothing beats kqed podcasts. Bay Curious, the Bay, forum, are my favorites. The single best podcast ever (literally of all time, ever!) is the Bay Curious episode about the POPCORN / telephone time lady. They have an interview with actual popcorn lady. OMG It was such a throwback to growing up in the late 70s early 80s. Anyway 😜

Love KQED, but app could use improvement. Every time my connection switches between networks while streaming the radio (wifi or cellular) the sponsored message that is only meant to be played at the very start of listening (when you press play) replays over and over. My house has 4 networks, so when I walk around I get the sponsored message every few minutes, cutting out the radio. Please create a repeat limit for the ad, where it can only repeat every hour or something.

I've used this app for a few years as a sustaining member, tolerating the ads every time I've had to pause for even a second but now it seems to be completely broken. New update? How about a negative timer on the ads if you've already been listening in the last few minutes. And don't release till glitches are out please. Don't even want to give you a star- can't get the app to turn on at all rn.

I hate to rate this app low because I love KQED, but the app is really sub-par. Many menu items merely link to the KQED website. The "listen live" feature (live streaming) plays the "sponsored by" message EVERY TIME the network switches. This is maddening and ridiculous. And inexplicably, they don't have the "pledge-free" listen option for members which they have on the website. Very disappointing.

I love KQED. However, every time my phone switches from the cell network to WiFi and vice versa, or when I receive notifications from other apps, or when I switch from using my headphones to listening through the phone's speaker, this app plays a sponsorship message, which can be quite long. This causes me to miss parts of the live stream, which can be an important part of the conversation. Why not play the sponsorship message once per session to eliminate this issue? It is extremely frustrating.
