Planet over Profit
Our goal is to build a greener and better world for everyone, not to maximize returns for shareholders. That’s why we’ve made a legally binding commitment to ensure that no profits can ever be taken out of the company. As part of our vision to end deforestation, we want to plant one billion new trees by 2020.

Why Trees?
More than 25% of the world’s population rely on forest resources for their livelihoods. By planting trees you can fight climate change, restore landscapes, protect wildlife and help people by providing nutrition, employment and education. In the long term this leads to healthier, happier and more economically stable communities.

CO2 Positive
We are more than just CO2 neutral. Ecosia owns and operates its own solar plant to power your searches with 100% renewable energy. In fact, thanks to the amazing trees we plant, each search actually removes around 1 kg of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Forests need protecting and so does your privacy. We do both:
• We don’t save your searches
• We don’t track the websites you visits
• We don’t sell your data to advertisers
• Your searches are always SSL-encrypted

We know that trust has to be earned. That’s why we publish all our monthly financial reports and tree-planting receipts on our website.

Reviews From google play store

Would 100% recommend this to anyone who wants to do a small part to help climate change while just making searches. The functionality is only slightly behind Google but with the amount of resources they have it's not surprising, at the same time though the user experience is still great. The developers are very active with updates and ecosia is a registered B corporation and posts monthly financial reports.

I was excited to read about this App because it's a great idea, planting trees (indigenous species, I hope, not exotics). But when I searched for one of my most used websites (Xeno-Canto) it didn't provide a link to the site.. Instead the 1st result was the Facebook page (I don't use FB, but I guess Ecosia has sponsorship from the most unethical entity on the www), the 2nd was what Wikipedia says about the website etc etc. But no actual link to the website itself. That's totally useless.

I did my research before deciding to use this browser and I was satisfied that they are everything they claim to be. As for functionality, it is superb. Equal in every way to the big, well known search engines, but with added privacy security that I appreciate. Simply put, it works flawlessly.

The search engine is far from spectacular But I'm sure you're working on that One quick fix for the interface: you should allow for a costumized opening screen (pick the sites to be accessed with a single tap) Perhaps just automatically add bookmarks to the opening screen. Apart from that, the concept is wonderful.

I love this app a lot but can u guys pls fix the sound problem. Whenever I want to watch a video on a website, there is no sound. I have to use the normal internet app so I can hear them. Please fix this and I'll give 5 stars again! ❤️

The browser is ok but still need some improvements. I hope more features will be added in next update. While downloading a file, it doesn't show the size of file and there should be a feature of watching the video while it's being downloaded.

Its Have a great user friendly browse anything we need, and Also its very compatible just like Chrome and Uc browser. Ecosia is claiming that they are donating their 80% of profit to Reforestation but there is no exact proof of the utilisation of money In fighting for a climate change, If they are geniunely fighting for a climate change.its a very good app... If you are geniune everyone will support you,

Not quite as good as Google, but morally better and still very useful. Decathlon website always gives an "out of date" browser warning.???

This app is brilliant! It feels really good to know that I am planting trees while I search stuff up! This is much better than Google; you should definitely download it

The idea of this browser is amazing! But the search engine is a little sketchy Keep up the good work Save planer earth

Good chrome based browser. It crashes however every time I tap on any text that isn't a link.

make it open source for complete transparency.... needs night mode like the foss open source web browser. then it would be perfect. please use this web browser if you don't care about those things, as IT PLANTS TREES!!!

Loving it so far. Tried others search engines and this one by far is very similar to google and efficent.

The idea is great. The search results are not always as comprehensive as I would like.

Perfect app to know basically any information I would really recommend this app. You can also know anything in any language, too.

An effective search engine which works no different to Google, Bing etc. I hope more and more people download this as it would impact our world greatly :)

Great browser and search engine. Admirable mission to go with it.

I love the concept and pretty smooth browsing so far

Just felt attached to this browser. Can't explain why. It's very simple, basic, unique, and its purpose is serving the environment and touching a very sensitive matter to all of us as human beings. The browsing experience is private and untracked by ads, which is a huge bonus. It's very simple to use and operate and does the job just perfectly.

Does the job and helps the environment at the same time. Would have given 5 stars but, functionally, it has its flaws. One that has really been hindering the app is it randomly deleting my opened tabs. One day they'll all be there and the next they're gone. Please fix, Ecosia, it's the only issue I have with the app.

It's a good app and I like how it has positive news about recent climate protests and other news related to climate change and trees. Seeing the count of how many trees have been planted go up makes me feel really satisfied and glad I could do something to help. I do have some doubt whether the tree is being planted correctly or being planted at all and recieving the right nutrients and minerals to survive. Too bad it doesn't have all the features Google has but you can't have everything.

I really like this app and try to use it as much as possible. But, hope you guys can improve the configuration to be more attractive. When I click an image at 'images search', it's better to show related images below. Anyway, thanks your app and your contributions to our environment. 🥰💓💓

I believe it is based on chrome browser the overall experience is good (not trying to undermine them )To be Frank it won't be as good as Google Chrome because we all mostly use Google apps and since this won't fit right into the Google ecosystem it feels a bit quirky but given how small the company is it has done it's level best, it's mostly a great experience except for the integration but it's not really such bad thing and given we can be doing good to environment by the click make us feelgood

Love the concept of planting trees; that's why i switched from using chrome to ecosia. One thing i miss from chrome is the voice record thing to quickly search up things. That was useful for my studies, but i gave it up for the love of trees. Gave it a 3 cause the app was caught using my camera permission. 😑 you probably dont care if you lose 1 person but many people are in it because they want to help, even with something small as using a browser to plant trees. Please be respectful.

Completely transparent and environmentally friendly, your searches are a lot more secure and private while doing a bit of good in the world. It's super easy to switch over from google although sometimes I do need to use another search engine to get what I need specifically.

I was very surprised to see how similar it was to Chrome! The settings, the UI, and even the homescreen look exactly alike! I had to stop using Chrome because it was being too slow to the point where it's unbearable to use and that annoyed me greatly. Ecosia somehow said "hey, why not use Chrome again, but without the hassle this time? You're also planting trees in the process!" and did I fall for it? You damn bet I did.

I love almost everything about Ecosia. What it stands for and their mission goals have me wondering why anyone in today's climate would use any other search engine. My issues are probably why more people don't use it, in that the space bar on the keypad is too small so I always have stops. In between what I type unless I type very slowly and carefully. I have experienced it being a little slow from time to time and sometimes, down and not working at all for a few hours at a time.

Amazing app, extension and initiative. Doesn't sell your data. Runs on renewable energy. Uses profits to plant trees. It's fast, it's clean and it's reliable. I couldn't ask for anything more. Keep up the great work guys! Everyone should download this app and their extension on PC. Every little bit counts. Thank you very much for doing good in the world Ecosia! PS: If you could add a dark theme to this it would make it even better!

I really like the app, but there are a few things I would like to be improved. For example, photos, you can't seem to zoom in. And there's something that Google does right and Ecosia doesn't: having definitions, calculations, translations etc. right in your face. I always have to press in a link to look for the definition, I can't just type "thing definition" and immediately get what I want. It wastes quite a lot of time. But other than that, this is quite a fine app. Hope to see updates soon.

Thank you so much for planting trees! That being said, I have some suggestions that would make the transition from other search engines to Esosia easier. 1. Make it possible, upon a search, to select and copy words on the results page 2. When certain sites come up in a search, such as yahoo answers, give a few answers on the results page. This feature is available on another popular search engine and has been mentioned to me when I share Esosia 3. A way to transfer bookmarks?

it's awesome! the platform works perfectly, and just the fact that trees are being planted is enough for anyone to quit using any other research mechanism. the only problem, however, is the lack of a dark theme. if they could add it, I'd be very glad!

It´s really great, the design looks good and it´s easy to use. Because of the news that Ecosia sends you regularly, you get updated on their projects to help the enviroment. So they actually do great things done. The thing I miss on Ecosia, though, are the similar picture suggestions under a photo when you search for pics. It happened a few times that I looked at photos and had to change to Google for a moment so I could look through the suggestions of similar pics. Though that´s really the only "problem" I´ve come across.

I had ecosia a while back but had to delete it when it caused my phone to repeatedly crash (in fairness that could've been my phone or Ecosia idk). Brilliant idea but it's still a bit glitchy, and missing a few features that make Chrome so accessible, such as zooming on photos, requesting the desktop vs mobile site, having calculations/conversions/translations right there on the results page after a search. These are small details but would go very far in making the app more user friendly.

Worth a shot. I genuinely like this app. Besides the fact that they send 100% of the revenue to planting trees, the minimalistic and material design really speaks to me. I was delighted to find they had a search widget, which is something rarely found on browsers these days. I would hope for maybe a dark theme in later updates, but so far the experience is solid and very good. 10/10 would install again.

Best app ever! I have had the web browser for years, almost 3, and I have used it over two phones. I have contributed to over 1,000 trees being planted over the time I've had it, and I wanna say it's more because sometimes my cookies get deleted. I love what you do. It's badass, and I'm glad my typical searching supports the communities who plant for you and the planet. It's wonderful.

Everyone knows google is better than this app when it comes to performance. But I don't think that level of robust performance is needed every time. This app really means something to this world. The people who created it should have definitely had a strong sense of gratitude towards the earth. It is very much sufficient to get the job done most of the times. Doesn't create much problems while search and provides info that is perfectly sufficient. It also updates the environment status. I love it

I give five star due to the ambiental work the company does ,it's good to know I'm doing something for the environment while searching, but there are things that miss, like tools similar to Google's, also, I didn't see a changing language option, obviously it requires lots of investment, but that could make the app more accessible, therefore, more used

I can tell that the Ecosia browser is using Chrome as its base. I was wondering if you could please add a feature to import/sync bookmarks and passwords from Chrome? I've not been able to find s way to do that. That is my main gripe with this browser, it is irritating to have to log in to everything all over again. Otherwise, excellent initiative. Does browsing help plant trees too or is it just search?

The browser is based on Chromium, I like the the chrome interface, the browser scores significant in benchmarks and unlike chrome it doesn't collect your data and manage it with Google play services every time you use it, so this browser is faster than chrome, and it's for a good cause, so I like searching the web with Ecosia. All the best Ecosia.

Amazing app with an amazing cause! I love being able to make a difference, even though it may seem small, seeing the tree counter is inspiring to say the least. I've recommend this to everone I know and seeing Ecosia so active is amazing. I love being apart of such an amazing community! Thank you for making a difference

I mean... I like the concept of it. But i think it should be more up to date. Like if i look up a definition i want it to pop up right away like google. Because it took a while to find a good defintion i had to use google. Once again i really do like the way its going, i just wont use it when i really need somthing fast.

I am so disappointed in this app. As much as I love the concept and tree planting. At the end of the day I need a browser that can copy links of the sites I visit. But whenever I try to copy links from the url bar I can hardly ever copy it and have to just go to Google Chrome to do so. It's just annoying. Please look into it. Fix your copying of website URL.

While I absolutely love Ecosia and the concept behind it, this browser (Chrome 69) is slightly outdated. Functionality is perfect, but the browser doesn't support 90 Hz (only 60 Hz) which is a big downside! [Using an OnePlus 7 Pro]

I am loving it so far, the idea of learning and helping out the environment by searching the internet is definitely something I would jump on. I wished I discovered the app sooner. If it's possible, having the ability to zoom the pictures in the image search in the next update would be very helpful. Thank you for making this app, devs!

Easy to use app, works great! I'd love it if there was a setting to add a search bar to my home screen, instead of just the little icon (like the search bar in the notifications menu). If there is, I haven't been able to find it.

The search works well and is a nice alternative to Google. Unfortunately, the Accessibility setting for font size does not work. I can move the slider but I see no difference in font size, even on sites with a relatively simply layout such as Wikipedia. This is sending me back to Firefox.

Very good app. I can use everything on this browser (Facebook and Amazon etc)I had to uninstall as I was having problems with this browser as it kept crashing. It also would open when I wasn't using the app.

This app is perfect even if you dont care about saving the earth, which you should. Its minimalistic design and smooth searching is more than a reason to get it, but the fact that the revenue it gets goes straight to good causes like saving the planet is superb. Overall, it's a great search engine.

I love the cause, the company and even their podcast and I've been using the app for a long time. Unfortunately it is now unusable. Whenever I search something I get the "Aw, snap" error message. I followed all the advice for fixing but it didn't help. Please ecosia, make it work again!

I wanted more customisation but I think it is fine. The design of the browser feels a but old too. I like this app . It's pretty fast . I'll use it for now. It needs more stuff. Planting trees is free so this is a huge +. I recommend it if you don't care about the experience that much

I like the idea! It feels powerful when you do something ordinary but you are actually saving the planet. What I don't like is that I can't see a 'review' of how many trees I planted and where. Hopefully future updates will include that feature. For now.. 3 stars is fine.

Trying to send feedback and it opens the 'share with' panel. I just wanted to add that in the accessibility part there is no dark mode and I can't see a switch for it anywhere. It would be nice to have a dark mode for those of us that are extremely sensitive to light! Also please fix the feedback button!

The app itself works good. Sadly the search bar widget stopped working for me after a few days (no longer responds when I click on it). As a result I use the much less frequently.

I like it at first as its for planting more trees. But this damn app show me the most irrelevant, outdated and ridiculous new news from out of nowhere to be on top of my searching. And I feel the credibility of the search engine isnt that good. If I search entertaintment sure this is enough but no to news and information of my studies

The purpose of the app is being met, however, there are errors occurring and search issues whenever I try to search anything. Hopefully this can be fixed, as search results is slow and very limited.

Great search engine. I've used it on iMac, iPhone and Android phone now over six months. I don't like using any other search engines now. Brilliant concept and service.

It's really nice. I like saving trees. The only thing that is bad is that it doesn't support some plugins so I use a different browser for sites that need specific plugins. Apart from that it is completely utterly flutterly awesome.

A great app with great intentions. It is slightly inconvenient when compared to the main search engines like Google but that's nothing when you take what this app is doing for the environment into account. I cannot express my admiration enough.

I discovered this browser, only used Google in the past, this is great works as good as Google and at the same time I am doing something for the planet, really worth it, wish more things worked like this

Concept alone grants it a high rating already but I encountered a minute error when a download failed and i cant get the failure notification out of the upper docket but all the other notifications seem to be swiped left/right fine. I already tried deleting it from the list of downloads but still cant remove it from the docket; for your future revisions. Overall, app is fine but you could try to smoothen the edges of the welcoming page so as to remove the retro vibe.

I really love this app! Its not laggy and its like Google Chrome. When you download this app, you're also helping the environment. This web browser has helped me in homework, projects and tests. Its really helpful.

So far I'm impressed by the work. Good work, keep it up! Thank you most importantly! I've got a problem. Now and when I click on some word in websites, the app suddenly shuts down. On itself. Weird.

It was a great app until The latest update is not working everytime i open the app it closes and tells me unfortunately ecosia has stopped working! ! Before it was working perfectly, the only negative thing that the results of the search were not enough but acceptable

Great browsing experience. I love it better than chrome. However the only downside is that there is no auto translation for webpage which is very specific to google llc. And i do understand if you guys dont have that. Just gonna give 5 stars anyway.

It's easy to use and helps the environment. Since I saw a reportage on TV, where they said that the money comes from payed links/"ads" , I press the commercial links every now and then, when it's what I searched for. Maybe I misunderstood but still.

Just as good as Google, an amazing cause. We've downloaded this to save the planet and it's completely legit. The app does not look as good as Google or other apps but the developers are hopefully working hard on the app! Great app!

3 stars for the app not the search engine. It's not as smooth and not as good looking as other browsers. I know most of the money goes into trees but maybe a little bit more should be used for this app. sadly, most other browsers don't support ecosia :(

LOVE. It works perfectly and I love the fact that it helps end deforestation. I'm studying Environmental so I do everything I can to help make a difference and this app is not even a second thought for me. 1000000% recommend! I use an S7 btw

I really like the concept and I have been using this app for about a year now and it has everything like Google and other apps but the more searches you make the more trees you plant.

Love the idea and use this all the time on my PC, only issues is there is no syncing option, and the search bar is a bit ugly, and the app dosn't suport 3rd party autofill very well. Also I use 50% of the money I get from my YouTube channel to buy their merch planting more trees

crashes whenever I download something. and when I choose sd card as a download location, it is stored within the folder. I have to go within the android folders just to access my download. I hope there can be an option to choose a download location specifically.

Works great except that I have saved passwords turned off, yet the saved password prompt keeps popping up when I'm typing comments on articles, tags for blog posts, and other things that aren't passwords. Sometimes it covers the text box that I'm typing in. How do I make it disappear forever?

I love it! Planting trees and letting me have multiple tabs on my phone! It's amazing and works amazing! The multiple tabs have been so helpful in class! I was a bit skeptical at first but now I love the search engine.

What isn't to love? It works great! They plant a tree for every search that is done through them. You can even track the amount of trees they plant for your searches. They don't track and monitor your every move as others do. It's very clean, smooth and easy to use and navigate on. We need our trees! They are life, just like our water. I highly recommend this to everyone I know, and those I don't. Plus the fact they aren't keeping specific websites from you is another huge plus!!

It's Amazing!! Also it's chrome based so the user will be quite adapted to the interface but what makes it special is that it allows us to contribute to the environment through our day to day browsing.

They are very transparent in their privacy policies and send regularly updates on tree planting efforts! I always find what I'm looking for and feel good about using this engine. I 100% recommend switching!

I love the intention. I love that fact that trees are being planted at a tremendous rate and that I can participate by searching things up. I think it's a great idea and great app.

Overall amazing. I love the mission amd vision behind this app. However, it would be nice if this app can become more visually attractive.

Ecosia is just as good as Google but I love the thought that I am saving trees in the environment with every search in Ecosia..

Love the cause it stands for and I'm quite satisfied with how it works. I have noticed that some people find it a bit inconvenient to transition from Google Chrome to here. Maybe rolling out similar features may bring more users to the app.

I have had great experiences with this app, it had never failed me. I found that on my device, Ecosia runs smoother and faster than Chrome.

A grey bar with a key appears above my keyboard when I try to write a message on Facebook for example. It's annoying because I can't see what I'm writing. I hope you can fix it. The app reports an error and closes on its own.

We all know why we're choosing Ecosia as our browser. Great mission, great cause. I'm also pleasantly surprised by how usable it is. It's based on Chrome so the gestures and features will be very familiar for anyone switching over, but it feels even faster than Chrome (which I always thought was the standard for fast mobile browsing - based on load times and animations). It's a different search engine so that takes a bit to get used to, but so far the results give me what I need and expect.

Amazing idea and a great cause! Love the tree counter and being able to see how using this search engine is causing progress, the updates about what ecosia are doing is great as well, keep up the amazing work and helping the planet!

I love the app and the entire concept! Its amazing!! I just wish it would let me know when I plant a tree. Also, how many ive planted so far. My absolute favorite is mossy oak trees!

Amazing app! The only downside is that the searches don't always return good results. The browser seems outdated too, since some websites say my browser is out of date.

A beautiful, yet poorly developed movement. The UI of this browser is pretty outdated and looks like Chrome 2 years ago. The search engine is good but looks like Google in 2012. The cause and the way the app works are awesome. The look and feel of the app is not. A flat, modern, minimalistic, simple interface would make this the best browser ever, but I won't stop using Ecosia because I care about the Earth.

I like the browser but a widget would be super handy! I tend to use the Google search bar on my homescreen when I want to quickly look something up instead of using a browser. I would love to have the same option for Ecosia so I can support the app a bit more. EDIT: Never mind. I just learned how to put my own widgets in. I'm dumb. Changed to 5 stars.

This app is incredible, not only is it simple to use and works pretty much the same as Google, when searching, but it makes me feel safer and reassures me in where my information is going but is also helping the world around us and (if you want)you can check on how well ecosia is doing with there mission to plant trees .Plus just by doing 45 searches you can plant a tree! I love this app so much and I think whoever's idea to make it was amazing!THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!!

I had heard about this app because of a meme: a very life changing one! It said that this app would plant a tree every 46 searches. I usually feel really useless because I'm not helping the amazon fire or global warming or anything, but this made me feel better knowing that even though I'm sitting at home looking up random stuff, I'm helping the enviorment

I absolutely love the work Ecosia does! The UI could be more modern, but that's just me nit-picking, it's about the trees, not the looks! Keep it up, guys! :)

I love this app! I have always. Been concerned with how google takes my data, but i have always been too lazy to change. When i found out i could save the environment, and protect my privacy, i switched roght to Ecosia

I really enjoy that Ecosia is powered by renewable energy, is supposed to be similar to DuckDuckGo, and plants trees. However, I am irritated that they make it such a hidden process to erase my search history. There also is no disabling of my microphone and camera, only an "ask first" option. Suure. This part may not be on Ecosia, but if I disable cookies then I can't login in at all to Google products like Amazon. I feel like that's more of a Google problem though, but here's a fair heads up.

This app is the best thing that happened to me. Not only it is reliable, I feel safer trusting my data in Ecosia than in Google, I also feel better looking at the tree counter, I don't know why but it calms my depression down, it's great. I use it everyday that I completely forgot about Google, I'm not joking. The application is getting better with every update. It is user friendly and very easy to browse through. I am definitely staying with Ecosia and to the person reading this, you should too

Missing a few of the gimmicks of the mighty google, mainly displaying opening times/directions/website options when searching local businesses, but that's no biggie. What it does do is skip the plethora of paid ads when searching and just present a local list which is far more useful in my opinion. This has now become my default search engine. Every little helps!

Great app, and the reviews that say it is malware are just fake. No other search business is as open with its accounts as Ecosia. I just wish they would build it on Firefox, which is more in line with their values

The best browser! I thought Ecosia was just a concept, but seeing it rolling around the app store gives me so much joy. Big big thanks to the developers for making such a wonderful app to create a better world.

I need to be able to change my home page so i can see quicky my school schedule it takes to much time to search then sing in and then see the page it's much more easy with google chrome I can just press home button and will direct me directly to the schedule.

Looks solid, great cause. I'm feeling it out to see if it gives me the experience I get when using Chrome. One thing that I think needs changing is the design. When results come up the font seems very square and formal, the boxes that contain the results are square, pointy, harsh. Personally I think that it needs a more bubbly, comfortable and happy look to go with your cause. It's what I expect when looking at your logo. Not at all that when I go in. Hopefully you implement this, Thanks :)

The concept of this app is great and the fact you can plant trees through searching of the internet is amazing but a few improvements would make this app perfect. The user should be given a choice of which search engine to use instead of being based around a single one (Bing). Which most users don't utilize because of the poorer search quality. Moreover the app needs a makeover, make it look enticing and a bit more exciting currently its too bland.
