This app makes it easy to find the direction and distance to where you want to go. It has a compass that works together with a map and the GPS to make classical orienteering possible. You line up your position (the GPS position) on the map with your destination by moving and rotating the map using one or two fingers. Turn the phone/tablet until the compass needle fits into the compass orienting arrow. Then the phone/tablet points in the direction towards the destination. * Has a button which when clicked locks the map to the compass such that the map keeps oriented as the landscape even it the phone is turned. * The compass is resizable. * Supports both SI and imperial units. * Possibility to lock the GPS position to the middle of the screen or the middle of the compass. * Ruler on the direction of travel arrow. Possible to switch it off. * Possible to buy the app free from ads. IMPORTANT: The map needs to be online. If there is no internet connection, the map cannot be shown, and the app does not work. For example, if the phone does not find its location, the coordinates and the location dot cannot be shown, and the compass declination cannot be calculated.

I use 2 other apps along with this 1; GPS ESSENTIALS; GPS STATUS & TOOLBOX... The AT is under my belt. I've paid for all 3. Great set when used together. Yes, its redundant. Yes, I use paper maps n compass. I wouldn't suggest it if I DIDN'T trust them. " And find an REI, give $20.00 for a lifetime membership. REI has member only sales a few times a year." I saw -15° in Maine, my knowledge/their gear... I'm still upright!!!

Excellent but have flaws. When free alligning with the map the values are the same between magnetic and true north. Somehow the magnetic declination is not applied unless you measure yourself. Any way you can fix this?

Works amazingly well!! It gave me accurate information that coordinated perfectly with my local county assessor's map, for location and mapping.

I use a lot of compasses, but never seen anything like this. This should go to the top of the list for all compasses. Amazingly easy to use, and the additional features of what can be changed makes it phenomenal. The multiple map features make this app incredibly useful. It has topographical, real time satellite, and road maps. Zoom in and out, and 1 button instant return to your home location. I zoomed in on the satellite map and can see the cars in my driveway! 10 stars and A+++++ !!!!!

Brilliant app, just like using a real map and compass. Upgraded to Pro because it is so good. One addition I would like is a "Dropped pin" option. An ability to zoom in, mark a spot, then "zoom out" and/or "change map view" and still see a marker on my spot.. Well recommended. Location markers have now been added. Thanks. Wish I could increase rating to 5+.

Great idea but not able to use as a novice. 1) impossible to shoot a course (direction of travel will not move, just the magnetic north) 2) doing long distances is impossible to accomplish because of this. Having the delineation is nice but didn't verify it for my area. If the line of travel could move and match the needle in the doghouse direction it would be fun to use.
