टेरर ऍटॅक ऍट डोंबिवली स्टेशन हे पुस्तक मी आधी १ मे २०१७ रोजी प्रकाशित करणार होतो. पण, प्रकाशनाची तारीख जवळ आली तरी पुस्तक पुन्हा पुन्हा वाचूनदेखील माझ्या मनाचे समाधान होत नव्हते. सतत काहीतरी राहिल्यासारखे वाटत होते. कितीही म्हटलं तरी वाचक त्याचा बहुमुल्य वेळ पुस्तक वाचायला देत असतो. उगाच काही मनाला वाटलं आणि लिहून वाचकाला दिलं तर वाचक फक्त लेखाकापासुनच दुरावत नाही, तर तो त्या भाषेपासून देखील दुरावतो. म्हणूनच मी पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन पुढे ढकलले. 'पुन्हा नव्याने सुरुवात' आणि 'मैत्र जीवांचे' या दोन पुस्तकांमुळे वाचकांच्या माझ्याकडून अपेक्षा वाढल्या आहेत.  या पुस्तकातून मी त्यांची अपेक्षापूर्ती करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो आहे.

संशोधनामध्ये मला बराच वेळ गेला. दरम्यान भारताने शेजारील देशावर सर्जिकल स्ट्राईकदेखील केलं, पंतप्रधानांनी जी-२० मध्ये दहशतवादविरोधी ११ कलमी प्रस्ताव सादर केला. अशा अनेक बऱ्याच गोष्टी होत गेल्या, ज्या मी आधीच पुस्तकामध्ये लिहिल्या होत्या. अनेकदा वाचकाला वाटतं, लेखक याच गोष्टींच्या आधारे पुस्तक पूर्ण करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो. पण मित्रांनो, तसं नाहीये. गोष्टी घडायच्या त्या घडतातच. उलट आपण लिहित असलेला प्रसंग प्रत्यक्षात घडत आहे, याचा त्या लेखकावर विशेष प्रभाव पडतो. तर आपण मूळ विषयाकडे वळूया.

दहशतवादी हल्ला! एक असा विषय, जो अनेक वर्षांपासून आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर चिंतेचा विषय बनला आहे. जागतिक स्तरावर एकोपा वाढवा या दृष्टीने अनेक माध्यमांतून लोक एकमेकांच्या जवळ आले आहेत. सद्भावना, आपुलकी वाढावी म्हणून अनेक स्तरांवर प्रयत्न सुरु असले, तरीही दहशतवाद वाढतच चालला आहे. हे दहशतवादी एक-दोन दिवसांत तयार होत नाहीत, क्रूरतेची परिसीमा गाठलेल्या त्यांच्या मनात लहानपणापासून या गोष्टी बिंबवल्या जातात. आपला देश, धर्म, जात किंवा जे काही आहे, ते संकटात आहे. आपल्यावर अन्याय झाला आहे, आपण दुर्लक्षित आहोत, आपल्यासोबत असं झालं, तसं झालं, बरंच काही असतं. मग आता अन्यायातून मार्ग काढण्यासाठी आपल्यालाच काहीतरी करायला हवं, आपण सूड घ्यायचा. (बऱ्याच गोष्टी आहेत, त्यावर एक वेगळंच पुस्तक प्रकाशित करावं लागेल.) अशा सर्व गोष्टींच्या प्रभावातून दहशतवादी तयार होतो. मग आपला हेतू साध्य करण्यासाठी त्याला आपल्या प्राणांना मुकावे लागले तरी चालेल, पण आपले हेतू कोणत्याही मार्गाला जाऊन तो साध्य करतोच.

हे पुस्तक लिहण्याचा विचार त्यांच्या याच गोष्टीवरुन आला. त्यांचे हेतू त्यांना इतके प्रिय असतात? ज्याच्यासाठी त्यांची आपल्या प्राणांना मुकायची देखील तयारी असते? इथे मी त्यांना हिरो बनवण्याचा प्रयत्न मुळीच करत नाहीये. त्यांचा क्रूरपणा आपल्या सर्वांना परिचित आहे. सीमेवर दररोज आपले सैनिक बांधव मारले जात आहेत. आपलेच नाहीत, तर जगभरात कुठे ना कुठे कोणीतरी दहशतवादी हल्ल्याचा बळी ठरत आहे. वाद कोणताही असो, त्यात अनेक निष्पाप लोक मारले जात आहेत. पण मुळातच दहशतवाद्यांना इतकी हिंमत येते तरी कुठून?

ते आपल्यावर निर्धास्तपणे हल्ला करतात, कारण आपण त्यांच्यावर प्रतिकार करत नाही हे त्यांना चांगलंच ठाऊक असतं. त्यातच बऱ्याचदा पोलीस आणि सैनिकांना त्यांच्या हल्ल्याची कल्पना नसते ज्याचा त्यांना मोठा फायदा होत असतो.

सदर पुस्तकाच्या माध्यमातून दहशतवाद्यांविरुद्ध सामान्य माणसाचा प्रतिकार प्रस्तुत करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे. हा प्रतिकार करणे सोपे नाही, पण अशक्य देखील नाही.

ही कादंबरी पुर्ण होण्याचं श्रेय हे माझ्याइतकंच माझे वडील श्री. ज्ञानेश्वर सुधारक ठमके आणि पत्नी शलाका या दोघांना देखील जातं. ही कलाकृती ह्या दोन व्यक्तींमुळेच पुर्ण होऊ शकली.

आणखी एका व्यक्तीचे आभार मानायचे आहे. ती व्यक्ती म्हणजे, अक्षर प्रभु देसाई. गुगल प्ले स्टोरमध्ये कादंबरी मोफत उपलब्ध करुन देऊन त्यांनी ही कलाकृती अनेकांपर्यंत पोहोचवली आहे. तसेच समीक्षक मंगेश विठ्ठल कोळी आणि जयसिंगपूर येथील कविता सागर प्रकाशक संस्थेचे कार्यकारी संचालक आणि प्रकाशक डॉ. सुनील दादा पाटील यांचे मनपूर्वक आभार व धन्यवाद. आपले प्रेम असेच असू द्या, लोभ असावा.
