Update 09282022: Looks like the app may have gotten an update to include the exact information I request below in terms of the user interface! Also, looks like the first MS I got may have been defective and they replaced it without question! Again, 5 for customer service! Support gets a 5! I have had an issue my MS and they took my issues seriously! The MS requires Location to be turned on on your phone when you run the app. I do not like this. Support says that it is required to make the Bluetooth work correctly but I am unsold. My Bluetooth headset works just fine with it turned off. Further, it is doing Cloud Saves without specifically asking me. Beyond this I do not think the app follows the Law of Least Surprise. When you start the app it comes up to a blank Now Cooking page. What does this mean? What am I supposed to do next? Instead of a blank screen in place of this it should offer a suggestion as to what you might want to do: Please turn on your MeatStick or Use + to add a new device. Once the app and cooking actually get started it's really cool!

Recent app update requires FULL LOCATION PERMISSION for the app to run. I haven't used my meatstick in a few months, then during this holiday weekend I decided to smoke a pork loin, fire up the meatstick app and now it requires location permission even when the app is not running. This wholly unacceptable. I am an app developer, and there is zero reason that this app needs location permission, especially at all times. Uninstalled and meatstick is going in the trash.

I want to love this product. I have the MiniX with the Xtender, it has a lot of potential, maybe. The apps connectivity with the temperature probe is a tad clunky: push button and start app simultaneously, you might try refreshing app, get a generic timer that pops up on the screen and pray it doesn't disappear before you can edit it because you'll have to restart the whole process. Why can't you have a button that actually requests a new cook instance? There must be a better way.

Ok the first stick I got did not work properly and was really frustrating and confusing to figure out what I was doing wrong, which ended up being nothing. My replacement stick works as advertised. Convenient for my rotisserie. My advice, test it several times the first week that you get it so plan on lots of roasting. Get on that replacement ASAP if needed, because to do any troubleshooting you need to have time to cook more stuff with it.

My first stick inaccurately read the ambient temperature. It would always say 572 degrees and give a warning. Customer service provided me with a new one at no cost. Cool, good CS. Second one last 3 cooks and now won't charge or connect after numerous attempts. Bad product, no troubleshooting help in app. Tossing this bad boy in the garbage and buying something reliable. As someone who works in the meat industry, I will be telling all coworkers. Stay away. Tl;dr save your time and money.

Going in the garbage. Waste of time and money. Has cost me two hours on my cook today and however many more on previous cooks that I had to just use my old thermometer. Definitely telling everyone I know not to buy this junk. Even paid for the better one. Still immensely disappointed.

Worked for one cook after firmware update. LED blinks red 5 times after solid green, won't connect to app. Help has zero info. on what this pattern indicates. Only used stick about 20 cooks before it broke.

It can hardly ever find the stick, and when it does, it usually loses it within a hour of smoking. Huge waste of time
