As a taxi driver I suggested this app to plenty of other taxi drivers but there's some points that doesn't let us to use this app. Even people knows that Tomtom is the very first sat nav creator but now at this point it has been left behind by some company like Google. It doesn't provide users with Taxi or Bus Routes. In our city or I point it better, there are 2000 taxi drivers + Uber and others that all using Waze, 2-there's no option to give you only hazard warnings,

Its interface is quite good. I think the user interface is much better than google maps and have nice visibility without unccessary details and well focused on the road. So, now I am using it. But there is a robustness problem, although there is connection it sometimes cannot connect to the network can't find the route. Fixing some bugs will be quite nice.

saved me a few bucks. One thing I would like to see added is revert to normal speed after school time. It is anoying going through school zones with a peep, peep, peep after school time.

When the app changed to AmiGO from TomTom speed camera, the spoken language changed from UK English to Us English. My phone is still set up for UK English in the Google TTS service and all other apps using it are working as expected. Am I missing something here? Response to developer: As mentioned above, I use Google TTS systemwide and it's also selected in all apps that support it including TomTom AmiGO. It was always the case before and after it stopped working.

Ver. 7.481.0 App doesnt start in overlay mode anymore. Both using BT autostart and starting it manually the app will not start in overlay mode. Previously if you closed it in overlay mode it would open in overlay mode. It is also very annoying that the warning popup cannot be moved. It is right on top of the recenter button on google maps. So when there is traffic and you look for another route you are forced to close this app.

I have been trying the beta with android auto and currently find it the best sat nav to be offered on android auto. Prefer it to waze. Works flawlessly with a more professional feel to it. The Speed Camera info is superb and works well. Haven't been with Tomtom for a long time but will be going back to using it perminantly now it's on Android Auto. Only one very small negative is not having the vast search engine that waze or Google have, but worth it in every other way.

TomTom Go is excellent for long trips where you need a large amount of downloaded maps. TomTom AmiGO improves on TomTom GO by being far lighter on resources & encouraging community participation. The interface is perfect for mobile use especially in car navigation. Great job TomTom!! 🥰

I was looking to get a speed camera and speed limit device for my car. All of them cost £100+. I Downloaded this app for FREE and it does exactly the same thing. Thankyou developers.

Only been using this app for a few days and overall the experience has been positive. My only problem is that school 40km zones are highlighted 24 hours per day instead of the 8-9:30am and 2:30-4pm in which they are valid.

AmiGO is so good that I've ditched Waze in favour of it. The map elements are clearer and the UI easier to use. My only criticism is that the school zone speed warnings do not factor in time of day, so I'm being 'alerted' all hours and weekends. TomTom's GPS devices correctly handle this - I'd like to see this app with the same functionality.

  15. Mack Herbert-avatar

I first used this app in Oct 2018. I was very impressed with the way it worked seamlessly. I can no longer keep faith that this app will continue to run as well as it use to. It tends to stop / freeze. I swapped devices thinking problem would be solved ,however the problem remains. I like this app but find myself relying on Google maps. In my opinion Google maps is ok but Tom Tom was much more better than just ok. Ps my devices are, Sony Xperia ,HTC and Huawei tablet.

The only problem I have is the app drops the speed limit while driving. Keeps showing my current speed but not the limit. It happens regardless weather my phone is connected to the internet or not. If I cancel out of the app, then reopen it, the limit cames but disappears again. I'm in New Zealand on a Samsung note 8. Otherwise I like this app

  17. Vu Nguyen-avatar

Pros: 1. Free (no cost). 2. Detects all cameras that I know in Sydney. Cons: 1. Loading time is much slower and unnecesarily complicated than the previous version "Tomtom Speed Cameras". 2. Auto startup does not work most of the times. 3. When my Samsung Galaxy A41 is connected to Android Auto to use Google Maps, Tomtom Amigo's volume is TOO LOUD and NOT adjustable. 4. No option to redirect the voice to phone's audio channels (ring, notification, media, system) like in Tomtom GO Navigation.

  18. Mirza Baig-avatar

    Mirza Baig

Hi, your app is reducing ringtone volume if we reduce volume of your app. Furthermore if we reopen your app, your app volume increases to 50 percent and ringtone volume stays minimum. Please fix it in way that won't affect Android system volume and also memorize app volume. Hoping it will be fixed and I won't need to uninstall. Thanks

The app was great but now it has issues with the overlay not updating when using android auto. The full screen version works okay. Android will also close the app claiming " amigo was closed because you weren't using it for a while. " If the app needs "using" then it's not safe.

  20. Chris-avatar

Overall a very handy app, saved me a couple of fines and does spot speed camera vans. Perhaps a sooner warning would be better for reported mobile speed cameras in the area. Please please please... bring back the start in overlay mode option in the settings. Its really annoying when I am adding a destination on Google maps before I plug in my phone and have the AmiGO app interrupt it.

  21. Victor Lin-avatar

The speed trap function is great. The map on the other hand is basically unusable unless you're in a completely English speaking country. In non English countries, the roads can display in the native language, but when searching for a destination, it's english only...

New update...30/01/21. Well the mute thing happened again on my pixel 3A again yesterday but I didn't have amigo running so I apologise for that it's not your app causing this fault. I'm now thinking it's something to do with Bluetooth although I always have speed camera apps and sat navs running volume via the phone speaker. Amigo back on my phone again I just need to find the fault now. Keep up the good work

Great app for speeds camera warnings unfortunately the draw over other apps function is no longer available on the version I have for some reason, I've checked in phone settings and that's definitely enabled there, the app just won't let me do it hence the freestyle rating.

Great app but like it's big brother some speed limits need correcting. I've reported one new reduce speed limit that conveniently has a speed camera in it. How do you get the alerts to be audible during a handfree phone call using Bluetooth?

I am located in Sydney and I use this system on a regular basis. The gps is fantastic, but I have an issue with the speed detection. If I am going on 100km, it shows as 96km, this delays the speeding warning. Please improve its speed recognition, its 4km off.

Not accurate, its wrong street's name. My location on google map is not appear.

  50. Jukkas-avatar

Tried to use the route guidance in the centre of Brussels. The route proposed was far from optimal (based on my experience) and it proposed to take number of one way streets to wrong sense of direction. And these streets have been unidirectional for years! I simply had to turn off the guidance. Also the tracking seemed a bit slow. What a shame as the interface is quite user friendly.

It's still ok but it gets worse with every update. It was perfect about a year ago. I always use it in overlay mode and the floating rectangle for the average speed zones just hangs in the middle of the screen. It's useful but I can't place it anywhere other than the middle of the screen so I normally get rid of it. Note 9. App 7.364.0.

  53. Mark Mackenzie-avatar

    Mark Mackenzie

This latest update has drastically affected the app in a bad way. The app no longer opens first time and hangs on the initial screen, when you try again a get it to open it is full screen and you have to minimise this, even when set to overlay mode. Any alerts now appear just below the overlay and since I put my overlay at the top right hand side of my Google maps navigation it is now blocking navigation information until it can be cleared. Before this update the app was a pleasure to use.

  54. Simon Jenkins-avatar

    Simon Jenkins

I really only use this app in overlay mode for speed limits and camera alerts. After a year of long convoluted alerts I still wish for the shorter more succinct alerts of the old app. "Speed camera, 30mph, 200 yards" is quite enough information. A shorter message is less likely to interfere with sat nav. Similarly alert overlays used to be neatly placed at the bottom of the screen and could easily be dismissed, much better than putting them in the middle of the screen.

  55. Daniel I-avatar

    Daniel I

Awful, apart from updates regularly breaking things, you still haven't updated a change in speed limit I reported over 10 months ago. You added the average speed cameras, but you tell me to drive at 70mph, instead of the new speed limit of 50mph. Well done. Update: it has now been 9 months of no updated speeds. I've notified you of the speed limit changes multiple times on the website, and made complaints to your customer services as directed.

20/06/2020: Please, please take this app back to last year, when it worked properly. All these updates and messing about have ruined what was a brilliant app ... Very disappointed and now looking elsewhere for a better version. Edit 07/11/2020: Updated rating to 4 stars, after a couple of updates the app is as functional as it originally was. It does freeze occasionally and the app has to be re-started. Could this app be made compatible with an Android CarPlay System? 🤷‍♂️

  57. Lucy Liang-avatar

Update: Hey guys, could you please make the warning overlays dismissable? Like, sometimes I'd like to swipe them away so I can see the stuff underneath. Right now we can't click anything when the warning overlay is on. This is super important, please make this possible Fantastic. Simple and exactly what I need: sound alert on speed cameras, with countdown, shows my location's speed limit, and lets me alert others about mobile police radars. Just perfect. Thanks for developing this app. A+

  58. FaRo-avatar

"By clicking 'yes', you agree to share your location to improve this app." Well, then no. Bye.

  59. Paul-avatar

This is by far the dumbest sat nav I've ever used, I expected much more from Tom Tom, even in a free app. If you need to deviate from the route, for whatever reason, it doesn't recalculate your route. The only reason I've given it two stars is because of the traffic camera feature.

Lost signal & then, rather than updating my location once the signal came back it proceeded to run the route (at fast forward speed!) from the point it lost the signal to my actual location! Absolutely no help whatsoever! I won't be reinstalling this app as there are other, better apps which work 'straight out of the box' & perform better, I was just trying it out to see if it was any good, which it isn't judging by other recent reviews!

Great app, i like the new interface as well and added features. Giving 5 stars all day long. One thing though. It would be nice, to have an alert volume, independent to the phone volume. What i mean by that is, when phone's volume is set on max, i like my music blasting, the alert tone volume is also automatically set to max. In the old version, two, were independemt from each other.

Anser #3: thanks for your response. There is no option like you mentioned. If the issue with loosing the voice option is resolved, this can be ignored! The beep is louder than voice! One more feedback: please bring back the short voice info like in the old App. The current sentence is way to long. Alternatively, make an option between long and short Version!

Held off reviewing for ages but hoped they'd make the change, but not modified it. When in overlay mode, and in average speed zones, if using something like Android auto, you're fixed to the screen you're on. Can't move overlay and it disables the lower portion of the screen. If you're pulled over to switch from maps to music etc, you have to exit amigo, do what you need, and start again! Please let us choose the style of that bit and also move it!!!!!

Best free app. Works well as a standalone Sat nav or as an overlay (for Sygic). Like the idea of confirming if cameras are still at the location stated. Cameras have been removed from various locations around the county, so big thumbs up for that.

I like the way now the app interrupts the music and acts like a call to announce there is a camera however if you are actually on a call and a warning comes up I was switched from. Bluetooth in the car to the phone and the caller can't hear you and neither can I then manually you have transfer the call back to the car bluetooth which is dangerous when driving then another camera appears and you lose the call again back to the handset.

Don't know if it had moved on, but will see if it works another time Been using this app now for 3 months. Accurate every time. Picked up mobile camera every time. Starts up automatically when I start the car (via Bluetooth), and seems reliable with fixed cameras. Very easy to set up, and configure to your own preferences. No experience with mobile cameras yet, so can't comment (very few cameras or speeding fines in Wiltshire - must be the most dangerous place in Britain to drive!!) Overall, very pleased, especially considering the price (it's free)

A very good app that works rather well. My only gripe is that you can't change the notification for "Over speed limit" to something other than a very piercing sound or spoken words. So it's only a choice between those two. Adding another notification sound would really make it more appealling. Also, when it makes the notification sound, it should silence the music that's playing and then play the notification sound (or at least have an option to do so)

The recent revamp of the app made it worse. Before it was simple to use. Now it seems you tried to build something with too much functionality, but lost track of the simplicity I loved before. Just as an example: When the phone connects via BT to the car, before it was really simpel to change the volume of the app, so that you can listen to radio, but still hear the informations from the app. Now it's a pain. Quite frankly, the functionality is still great, just miss its previous simplicity.

Wish I'd had it running 2 weeks ago 📸🐷💰! A simple effective and free way to protect your license, now in the middle of my home screen. Being nagged that you are exceeding the speed limit is annoying but it is the whole point. (Actually I think you can turn that off and just have it warn about cameras, but it is a good idea to slow down if exceeding the limit, so I keep it on). I have not heard it warn about a known occasional mobile camera location yet, so not sure how much it knows about those, but it does call out fixed locations accurately.

I've been using this app for over a year now and it is just fantastic! UK roads are filled with speed cameras and congestion is at it's worst. With this app I'm able to see and know everything that is happening in front of me i.e. speed cameras, traffic congestion, speed limits, average speed zones on motorways, police radar cams, you name it! It happens that sometimes you accidentally go over the limit by 3mph not knowing, which would be more then enough for you to get a fine, not with this app.

I give 4 star because it is not accurate with the speed limit notification. For example: Displayed 60mph whilst in a 40mph limit which has been in place for as long as I can remember. Tip: double check the local speed limit before believing what you're told by this app. However other than that it's an 'ok' app. Well worth downloading. Update: I've used this app a few times now, in addition to the above I think an option for a larger speed limit icon would be advantageous to safer driving making the information easily seen with a quick glance. Once the phone is mounted on the windscreen it can be too far away to easily see the speed limit as displayed now. Either a larger icon as standard or as a user option.

The app has been ruined by the change to this new AmiGO format. The old speed cameras app was simple but brilliant, this new iteration has overreached itself. Average speed zones are no longer accurately measured. There is far too much verbiage when reporting the locations of speed cameras. At least give users the option to decide how much we want to hear, for example, I don't need to know how far the camera is away because I've already selected when I want to be informed.

Was very happy with this when I downloaded before so I'm not sure if it's just my device but the app doesn't seem to work as well as it did on my previous phone. It's certainly not always sure where it is and, although it does give jam and queue warnings this is more often than not when you are actually sat in them. And it seems to miss some fixed cameras which I know have been there for years. Recently it has started warning for a long departed average speed zone on the M5 in Somerset.....

I don’t like the new user interface. The interface uses too tiny icons, too small numbers and requires too much attention. In the earlier version of this software, reporting a speed camera was easy. There was a large button at the top of the screen, that could easily be pushed. With this new version of the software, I first have to press a tiny little icon in the upper right corner, which is very hard to hit in the moving car. It then brings up for more tiny icons, of which you need to choose.

I've been using this app for ages. I find it very useful where speed cameras are concerned, but as a sat nav it's a bit limited. If there's a way to add a 'via' to the route, I haven't found it. I preferred the previous version. The mapping looked better, it oriented itself faster, and the bottom of the screen told me the name of the street I was in, rather than asking where I want to go. Still, it's a free app that does the basics. Thank you Tom Tom.

This is an app, I use daily with my Google maps. the notifications it gives you from 300 yards away is great. but also adding camera locations as in speed traps is also a great feature. I actually use the free version, and it's one of those apps you would be happy to pay. when you go past a camera for first time, it prompts you by asking is the camera still there. simple yes or no. it's great. fantastic job TomTom Lincolnshire, UK

This app was the best app on my phone. The simplicity was what made it so great. Unfortunately the update has ruined this. It's now over complicated and the noises to signal a speed camera has changed and is too quiet. A real shame because the app worked PERFECTLY before and didnt need updating. If anything, you should have released another app for all the additional features. Keep this one simple, as it was originally designed to be.

I mostly used this as info of what the speed limit was when I'm driving in unknown surroundings, but since the update it never seems to tell me what the speed limit is anymore, just what speed I'm driving, as if it doesn't know or can't connect to a database to find out. I re-installed the old version to see if that would still work but it was now useless compared to before too. It doesn't even know main road limits here It doesn't do the one thing I installed it for anymore so removing it.

Not all the speed limits are correct but I'd say its 90 percent accurate. Terrific actually. 😃 I've used it for about a month now and the only thing I find that's annoying is that it sometimes seems slow to react to the change in the limited speed. On motorways for example it can jump from 100 k to 50 k and back again within a few hundred metres. I like the reporting feature. I also really like when it asks you to confirm if a temporary mobile camera is still at its last reported position.

The upgrade is so full of bugs. First, when it indicates a camera with it's distance, it stays on screen for the rest of the journey. Second, the voice choosing section says there's no voices..and the FAQ says it is an issue with the phones settings..IT IS's the app. Then they mysteriously come back. And lastly, when you switch from the map screen to the speed display, you can't scroll back the other have to put it in overlay and then press one section to get back...hardly safe

I loved the previous version which lit up the whole screen and was great in my peripheral vision as I didn't need to look at the screen to know if I was going to fast. However it updated overnight without my say so, and now I really can't stand the hard to see tiny circle. Have to really concentrate on it to see if I'm going over the limit or not. Great to see TomTom making a come back... Been using the application and noticed a few things that need improvement... 1. There needs to be an option to be able to turn off the route voice guidance, but leave all other warnings on... the voice gets annoying after a while. 2. Regarding the voice pack, there seems to be no distinction between, MILE and MILE"S", 1 Mile and below is stated as Mile"s", when it should be "Mile" (that's just my OCD kicking in)... 3. When recieving a call (Skype, WhatsApp, or Regular Call), the application runs in the background, but is no longer visible, rather than the GPS application remaining on the screen and the active call moving to the status bar, so the display treats the GPS application as primary (somewhat like other competitors GPS apps). I find I have to unlock my phone again to see the screen again. 4. There needs to be a way to access the settings page while a route is activated. Currently you need to exit the route to make changes. The above is what I have found so far, hope to see some improvements in the next release... EDIT: Some more things I noticed... 5. The mileage left to destination is not displayed, it should be displayed as it is the only other number we typically look at (other than ETA) on long journeys... 6. Alternative routes, Amigo only gives one route, We should always be given alternatives, despite the fact that it may be further in distance... I know Amigo is free, but so are the other 2 competitors, and the they typically offer most of the features above... Hoping to see Amigo be as good if not better than the rivals...

Good for a free app on the phone! The way it opens/starts automatically when you get in the car is ace (does this through Bluetooth). The worst thing is that it doesn't work through the car speakers when the radio is on, only when bluetooth connected music is on. As far as accuracy it is great at times with hot spots and maybe locations, but then will kiss a fixed camera that has been in place for years!

Incorrect speed limits. Last update was the worst and the most dangerous ever as it does not allow the user to move the distance pop up on the screen. It occupies the bottom left of the screen permanently making it literally impossible to see that part of the screen in overlay mode. This update must be reversed because before it was possible to move that pop up anywhere on the screen. Reply 1: You should check that with highway authorities regularly as I don't know the names of all the roads.

Works alright, but at least two things could be improved. 1. Seasonal speed limits are not taken into consideration, Finnish roads that have a limit over 80 km/h in the summer have their limits lowered by 20 km/h in the winter months. So a 100 limit becomes 80, 120 goes to 100. 2. The warnings, at least on my Huawei Nova 3, always comes through the phone speaker, even when the phone is connected to a car radio through the headphone jack. Can't say how it works with a bluetooth-connected radio.

Good app but there is one thing that would make it better and a great app. The app currently has an automatic start when it connects to my cars Bluetooth which is great, Android Auto opens up and the Tomtom app appears as an overlay above it. However, it relies on an idle period after the car has stopped before closing the app. This is a problem because if I get out of the car for a few minutes the app is still running and, when I return, Android Auto starts automatically when the Bluetooth connects but because the TomTom app was still running it no longer appears on top of Android Auto which means I then have to manually stop AA and restart the TomTom and then AA. A bit of a pain in the ****. This could be overcome by having the TomTom app close when Bluetooth disconnects (this can be done as the Velociraptor app does it). For this reason the app only gets 3 stars.

Very pleased with app. I use it only for the speed camera alerts, with my phone in my pocket or glove box, so not worried about seeing maps or overlays. Only one complaint though: the voice warning of approaching cameras is now far too wordy. Would it be possible to go back to the previous more succinct one please? I find the "beep" option too short and now the voice option too long.

Very easy and simple to use, I normally just have the speedo showing but having the choice of screens is good. So far only 5 camera's out of 100's have been wrong. Would recommend it . Since the update (early 2020) GPS signal loss is less frequent (going through tunnels etc) which is helpful. The information for the speedo is better and there are more tweaks in the app.

This was an great app until latest update. The simplicity/clarity of the app is compromised for a new design. The zoom in/out function has been removed, so you are locked in a view where you can see the cameras/warnings maybe 500m in advance. The alerts and the camera icons are not as visual as before. The volume settings is now hidden in a sub-menu, earier one click. Night mode is a nice add, but otherwise the new design have made this app lose its focus. This is now just a navigation app.

So I installed the app as a comparison between it and my TomTom that I've used for years, just to see if i still had to take the TomTom with me on holiday. I must say that I was really happy with the way it worked. It gave me all the info (and a bit more), it gave lots of instruction (more than my TomTom) who has it just about right, but too much info is better than not enough (like the built in thing in the car (that I don't use)). So I will be using this from now on.

Has the potential to be useful. The main issue is that the app reports false speed limits. Any time the car passes under a bridge this app picks up the speed limit from the overhead road. Even my budget TomTom device doesn't suffer this weakness. I was also unable to turn off sounds. Even with the sounds set to None the app still beeped loudly when approaching speed cameras. I have uninstalled the app as unfit for purpose. I'll try it next year when the bugs have been (hopefully) fixed.

I love this little app, I have been waiting for this for a year or so, now it is here and it is free. I have a Tomtom pro truck Sat nav which is also very good, but it does sometimes avoid good roads. So I also use Google maps which gives me a second choice. Google maps does have speed cameras but is very limited. This Tomtom app allows you to navigate and listen to music via Bluetooth on the car radio with a very visual and audible speed cam warning (even if the music is loud, it blasts through (thanks for the vol. control in settings). A larger on top icon would be nice or option in settings. A method to minimise the "on top icon" (it is always on top) by pressing the home key, would be nice when I use the phone at a stop. I have to maximise the App, close it, confirm closure, use the phone, restart the App when I start driving again. Just a niggle.

Very useful app if you want to avoid speeding fines! This has helped me countless times, especially in average speed zones. Also really good at warning in real time about mobile speed cameras. Only criticism is the 'Thank You ;-)' pop up that keeps popping up after it's been swiped off the screen. Anything that is needlessly distracting the drivers attention and asking for drivers input should be avoided.

Some aspects are really good, however you must have your ringtone up to hear any sounds, this means you need to remember to turn the volume up when you enter a car. Would be good to have a different sound profile only when connected to Bluetooth for this app so it reverts back to silent when you leave the car. Also disappointingly drove past 3 mobile speed cameras (1 hand held, 2 vans) wasn't notified of any of them.

New app is good however it has introduced some problems: 1- Verbal warnings are far too wordy. "speed camera. 30 miles per hour" is succinct and how i remember the old app. Any more is just irritating. 2- in landscape mode the arrow icon is off centre which is really annoying and distracting. Can we have the option to hide the "where to?" box please 3- i really miss the full banner for warnings in overlay mode. Please bring back. Pro's The map is fantastic particularly in night mode 👍

Whilst this app is very reliant on users to keep it updated I have found it to be incredibly accurate. I have used it from the UK through Europe and even South Africa and found it. I would sooner it tell me there is a camera and there not be one that to not tell me and I get a ticket. If you are using this app do the right thing and help keep it up to date by adding or removing cameras.
