requires following permissions on your android device.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

change network connectivity
Allows the app to change the state of network connectivity.

allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your phone. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

set an alarm
Allows the app to set an alarm in an installed alarm clock app. Some alarm clock apps may not implement this feature.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.

The app is slow when switching channels as it freezes a lot if your trying to watch something it cuts in and out the service is unreliable. I am glad I got to try it out and see how bad this really is. This could be a factor of many things from servers they are using to the software itself in any number of places. This is sad as it's very easy to transmit the signal. Its not my connection its the application on there end bad experience do not subscribe.

I've had Sling TV for a few months now and I love it except when you're binge watching a show it freezes up and you have to completely shut down the app and go back in. The pricing is fair and we get exactly what we want. IMO, even with the freezing at times, it's still worth it. We pay $75 and get WAY more use out of it with the channel customizations than with cable or satellite. I'd give 5 stars if it didnt crash on us during our kid-free binge watching weekends.

Why did sling change the format for the opening of the app? I'm in the on now section but there is only 2 shows in this section. But I go to the guide then Fs1 channel and then there is my sports show that is "On Now"! Why is there nothing in the on now section. Doing the app format this way makes it awfully annoying to find the shows I want to watch. Fix it or I will cancel my subscription. Thanks

I can connect about 5% of the time. I have a Hughesnet connection. I used to be a news junkie. The good thing about not connecting is that, now, I have time to do other important things. When I want to see Netflix, I use my friend's ATT connection. A little bit better. I'm convinced that they are both carriers trolling the connection. Sling is not as good as Netflix, in terms of overcoming the trolling that, Hughesnet and ATT are doing these Covid 19 days.

So Buggy! USELESS. In a half hour show, app froze three times then crashed with the message "another user on the account halted playback" when I am the ONLY user and there has never been another. And the ads! During each ad break you have NINE or more consecutive ads -- all too brief to make you want to buy anything (sometimes you can't figure out what they are selling). Free app? you couldn't pay me to use it in its current state.

Like the concept, but the ads that you can no longer skip through in DVR mode are getting longer and longer. I'm about to jump to another service because it's so annoying. If I'm watching live TV, that's one thing, but if I've DVRed something, I should be able to skip them.

Disappointed in Sling. I switched from Fubo but it's not worth paying less for Sling with all the glitches: screen going black, pausing itself (sometimes I have to close the app just to unpause), the dialog is fractionally behind the screen making everything look like 1 of those dubbed 60s-70s martial arts or Godzilla movies. It's not my data or Wi-Fi, I have no problem with my Amazon Prime Video or HBO. If it's not fixed soon I'll have to end my subscription.

Crashes a few times a day on android tv. If set to record new programs only, it still records programs from previous years. Would be nice if you could go back and forth between antenna and streaming channels by using the "last" button on the remote, but this only works between two antenna channels or two streaming channels. Having to watch mandatory commercials that you can't fast forward through when you have time saved up is bs.

The most unstable app ive ever seen!! Doesnt play for more than two min without freezing. All my other streaming apps work great. Update made it even worse, if thats possible. Please get it together. Just a waste of time, space, and money. Hire someone who is actually somewhat capable to fix this.

The worst TV service ever. It never plays smooth, app always freezes, and when the app does some type of refresh it gets worst and it slows it down even more. Yes, the app is up to date, I have a 300 mbps internet with no data cap. I've had the internet for 4 years. So, i know it's not that.

  11. guest-avatar

I actually love this app, but hate how it interrupts a show or movie at an inopportune moment and goes to commercial. It especially does so when we are watching game shows. We often have to remind the game show to catch the ending because the show gets cut off. Other than that, we love it!

Pretty good video and audio quality the only complaint is video has a streaking affect that i dont snotice when i watch a dvd or other streaming sites. However i would never recommend sling to anyone because of extra commercials, they cut out early on tv shows to play more commercials so you miss the pun lines that shows give the second before a break. They dont play network commercials they play what they want. Commercials ruin sling tv for me. You might not care or notice

Works best with Roku media platforms only that's why I gave it one star. It's a shame that an app that's so good for streaming local channels, videos etc. will have to limit the use of most top quality Androids streaming platforms, Samsung tv's etc. If they try to eliminate Android streaming devices then they will loose most of their subscribers. I have been streaming Sling tv through the Roku Extreme app and was so annoying with interruptions, bufferingu you name it. Roku thumbs down, no go

  14. guest-avatar

I would give it 2.5 stars, but I can't. It serves its purpose well, but I find that it buffers a lot and it's not easy adding other content from the app. It will freeze and you have to leave the app and go back in to watch the program. Sometimes, it just goes to a black screen and you have to exit and come back

i have sling blue and for some reason not all on demand movies appear on mobile even though they appear just fine on my laptop. i tested this with a friend since we both use mobile and have sling blue. just asking if this is an error or not proper working. even though i've played on demand before. They also dont appear on my history/ watched list.
