05 Nov '19. OK, I have an apology to make. I see now that there are two new headers in the TV Guide - 'Watch on tablet' or 'Record to Sky box'. The second one has the BBC listings. Stars duly added. 04 Nov '19: New update - same old problem. Original review: Open app, tap TV Guide and find that there are no listings for BBC programmes. What a waste.


*Use the orig sky + app for tv guide,* this new one is ridiculous. I access the apps TV guide more than I do the TV guide on the screen, where we were previously able to simply select one channel to see the contents of the day, and then swipe either left or right to see what other channels had to offer for the same day. NOT NOW as we now have to go back into the list, select the drop down menu, then select the channel you wish to see the contents of. How on earth can this be a way forward?


Well, here we go again, back to this rubbish again, same one star. Sky Q now defunct, was much better, ie at least a working app. Where have the BBC channels gone? Funny how I can stream through Sky broadband, from my Q wifi but my app can't connect for BBC channels! Great. Wouldn't mind so much if it was a free app, but I pay £150/month for the package.


Seems very basic for what it is. It doesn't seem to know your subscription so will suggest or offer things to watch even though I don't have the appropriate Sky subscription. Scheduling recordings to my Sky Q box often fails. Also, it would be nice. To see what is recored on my Sky box. However, the last feature is probably there if I pay an extortionate amount of money for basic features. The search facility doesn't seem to include short words or words with apostrophes.


Sky taking a backward step! The design is horrible. Prefer the menu in the sky Q app in the top left than a permanent task bar at the bottom. The TV guide is horrible. I prefer the old grid layout - like on the sky boxes themselves. And please bring back the remote control functionality! We know its possible as there are third party apps. I used to prefer scrolling the tv guide (grid) on my phone then select what i want and it plays on the TV.


Downloads different versions of same show. For example, I downloaded series 3 episode 6 of True Detective and start to watch and it's a series 1 episode. Sometimes will not play downloaded episodes or if I have two episodes downloaded it will start playing the later episode when I select the earlier one. Pretty hopeless really.


In reply to Thomas W-P Sky state that Chrome OS is not supported. WOW, I bought a pixelbook in May of this year and Sky Go worked perfectly until an update loaded in September (I think it was) when it stopped and I cannot get it back. It loads and sets up perfectly but will not get past the "preparing" screen. The problem has only surfaced since the update which included the use of the Q Box in the system., I depend on Sky Go a great deal and am very unhappy at this turn of events. According to the Play Store this app is supported by all my devices, it even list my Google Chromebook. Come on Sky, a little truth here, if it was working on Chrome for six months, why not now, something in the update screwed it didn't it, and you will not admit it! Millions of us use Chrome, it is a brilliant system, and you risk losing us by being pedantic. Virgin here we all come!


Utter trash. Original skyQ was good. You pay your sky services and watch your stuff on your phone. This 'new wonderful sky go' is identical EXCEPT you are no force fed dozens of advertisements with every spoonful of viewing. You PAY for your sky services, but the greedy b@@@cards have decided to change their app to coin it in from companys at the expense of their customer's viewing experience. Nice one sky you avaricious c**ts. You just handed virgin a new tv/broadband/mobile customer. GREED!


Doesn't work properly - every time I try to watch a show it crashes. And when I flip my laptop into tablet mode it also freezes and crashes. Embarrassing app for a company the size of Sky. I should be able to watch my shows on whichever device I want, but their app isn't fit for purpose. Not good enough considering the amount we pay for Sky each month


skyq app worked superbly , but is now no longer available on my laptop, it has been replaced by skygo app. skygo app does not work. I can receive the free channels without the app crashing but when i try to watch channels like skysports the app crashes after a few seconds without connecting to the program. I still have skyq on another device which works perfectly, but no doubt that device will soon receive a notification to change to skygo app. Bring back skyq app - it works.


Awful. Cannot read all of the tv guide information on my phone. Cannot view BBC live. Really awful. Update still cannot see BBC channels at home connected to Wifi so that's your explanation blown out of the window. So in order to see what's on BBC o have to switch to BBC iplayer. Brill.


Awful app. The best app used to be the Sky+ app which was then replaced with Sky Q which was less functional and now this piece of rubbish. Too many issues to report but some of the key ones are: - won't download programmes I select in the app - won't record programmes I select in the app - layout is poor compared to the previous app I could go on and on but let's hope somebody from Sky is reading these comments....


I have a long weird shaped house so use Google WiFi plugged in to my sky router for wifi and wired Ethernet network for Sky boxes. I had massive issues (the app never found my Q box) until I told the sky router to put the Google WiFi as DMZ. Now it works reasonably well. Hope that helps someone. Sadly it does not work on my pixelbook and there no plans for Chrome OS Android emulation.


The SKY q app was perfectly good. Now FORCED to this app. The TV guide is laughably poor by comparison. Have to go backward and forward to view different days or channels rather than the simple and logical flow of the swipe system. Feels like the app has gone back years. Really poor SKY


This app is shocking when I download stuff and come to watch offline I has major issues. For example I try and click on the play button and does nothing. If it does play on occasions it has been the wrong episode. Really poor. How can a company that charges so much be so bad. Lucky I have Netflix aswell that works perfectly


The downloads section does not work properly. I've downloaded episodes of Futurama and Handmaid's tale and when I click play on one of them it regularly plays a random episode from the other. Genuinely rubbish software engineering, they shouldn't be allowed to charge for sky go extra and not deliver it. When I reported this to sky they directed me to technical support, technical support subsequently told me because it's given to me for free, they can't do anything about it.


Awful. Previously using the Sky Q app with no problem at all, but now being forced to use this. App constantly hangs with timer icon, or crashes back to phone dashboard altogether. Video playback equally awful with audio just dropping out for no reason which then necessitates a reboot of app. Truly bad app and I will be cancelling my Sky cinema sub as I do most of my viewing via this. Sky Q app worked fine just bloody leave things alone. Samsung S10+


You pay for sky and then when away from home the sky go is so you can watch tv but when trying to watch the football you can find a better quality on a website streaming the match than the offical sky go app can offer you. Rating would be higher if you could stream good quality for sky paying customer.


What the hell! All i now get is a message saying something about format not supported or not playable. A/v track error code 12. SORT IT OUT SKY!! It worked on my HUAWEI P10 (Android 8) but not my LG G6 (Android 9). I'm paying for a service that don't work!!


Good app. Change over smooth and fast but missing some features like swiping left right in the TV guide channels to swap quickly between channels. Also when going back from a program info, starts at the top of the times and not staying on late evening for example.


Keeps failing, pausing, and freezing, had to uninstall and reinstall the whole app just to watch one programme, this is ridiculous, sort it out sky for gods sake. After uninstalling and reinstalling, this app is still cutting out every 5 minutes and it seems like these reviews are not being read because nobody has responded, this is ridiculous.


I've not had issues with the app but the past few days I cannot download anything to my phone. Keeps coming up with an error. I've never downloaded on this app but the old app I had no issues with. Please fix.


Whoever designed the new app update should be fired, the old app was so plain and simple to use and everything was easy to find. Now channel categories is hidden away and not easily found instead there is more promotional things trying to get you to watch new programmes. The app has also stopped working for me now i click on any channel and the advert loads up and plays but then the programme wont start. Tried reinstalling app but its still the same, awful app in every way bring back the old one


Absolutely shocking. Trying to watch a recorded show and use the skip feature caused the whole app to freeze up. Wasn't your intention when Sky Q came out to make viewing fluid and 'seamless' because that certainly doesn't happen with this app


Downloaded programs are unplayable. Quite regularly, I am unable to play programs I have downloaded. This happens about 1 in every 2 programs. This is the only reason I have the app, which makes it pretty useless


It only stays on for about 15/20 mins at a time then keeps cutting off and you have to completely come off it and switch it back on again and find what you was watching again, needs sorting out and stop it doing this.


Used to work fine, auto updated to this garbage now I cannot watch anything, says I have network connectivity errors, which I do not. Wish I'd turned auto update off. Phoning sky and cancelling the whole bloody lot. Terrible app.


Worst APP EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! The buffering on adverts every 3 seconds is beyond annoying then god forbid you might have a notification and have to endure another 6 minutes of buffering adverts. Felt like im living in 1999 not 2019. Pathetic app, Sky need to sort it out ASAP.


Unusable if you want to watch shows on your mobile or tablet because the video player simply doesn't work regardless whether the programme is downloaded or not. App is good for setting things to record but that's about it.


I wish I could have subtitles as I have on a normal TV.... Thus 4 stars. Or am I getting something wrong? Other than that, the app delivers a great TV experience.


The app will not show the Q Recordings button. Resetting networks, reinstalling the app etc. doesn't solve the problem and this sends to be a common issue. Please take a look at this.


Pretty good, so far! Sends record requests properly and I can watch television easy. A couple of suggestions... - Confirm when box is recording - Connect to box and manage recordings when away from home - Set reminders to issue notifications on device when a programme is about to start


On the new version of the app, about 50% of the time when I try to watch a downloaded video (that hasn't expired) it just won't play it. It simply doesn't respond to the screen being pressed.


Always something wrong, it takes months to fix and endless phone calls and endless hours wasted on the phone. Its very frustrating trying to sort out the problems.


Will not open on my samsung tablet, keeps saying update required but no update is available in play store as I've only just downloaded it. I have uninstalled & re-installed this 3 times and every time get get same message. Sort it out Sky.....


Seems like a decent app but it annoyingly is always losing connection with the Sky Q box, even when I am sitting in the same room. Hope this is rectified before the Sky Q app is withdrawn.


Tried to watch live football yesterday and wouldn't work after several attempts. Stated connectivity issues every time. Today it is working. Not reliable.


This App is sooooooooo bad, I always download my programmes at home on Wifi. As soon as I try to watch them outside of my house the downloads dont open. Have tried reinstalling the app multiple times sometimes they play most times they dont!!


The new Sky Go app works well but the TV Guide is a disaster. Rather than going for a grid view, it's in a list view, which means you can see what's coming up and set to record.


Downloading isn't an issue but consistently have problems playing back what I've downloaded. Press play but nothing happens. Please fix this as it's getting super annoying!!! I've seen so many other reviews about this so it's a major problem. Your seeming indifference to it does not give me hope for your service in the future. If you're doing something about it at least reply to your reviews and tell us!!! Basic customer service wouldn't you say?


Very disappointing app, the main feature for me with this app is to download and watch content offline when travelling - try to play and just get error code, no explanation from sky what this means!


Update is awful. Constantly buffering, cleared cache, history and re-installed no improvement and gets worse longer it's used for. Checked online via sky website and loads are experiencing same issue with new update


Sky Q app was better... Trying to watch recordings from my Q box through this app is appalling. Sound is out of sync with video. Tried restarted, reinstalling but still out of time. Awful!


The old app was brilliant but this new one not so much, stream keeps stopping even with full WiFi signal and the recording doesn't continue on from where I left off on my sky q box.


The app itself was ok. Would freeze and disconnect from the sky q box a little too often. When I deleted the app the WiFi calling on my phone suddenly began working again.......


Poor compared to Sky Q app that this has now replaced. Cant get to download to sky box. Plus now needs prescription to download to tablet. Both of these worked perfectly on Q app. Thumbs down sky

Can't ever play on phone or laptop (google chrome). Always get message 'An unknown error... Try restarting app.ʼ Have uninstalled and tried again but same error message.


This app simply doesn't work. I have spoken to sky numerous times and have given up. Cannot connect to sky q box or see recordings. Really frustrating


It's gone naff. When first installed it had all the channels now it's gone back to the old style sky go app where only a few channels and I am a sky customer on sky mobile as well


It used to work perfect but no anymore. Device managing has server error so it's impossible to add or remove device also after the updates the app became hard to use and complicated

I think this app is very limited in some areas that were available in Sky +HD without having multi screen such as why can't I see my recordings schedule or via BBC channels so annoying


After upgrade sound is ok also with wired headphones, but if you connect through Bluetooth headphones voices go out of synchronization for some reason.


Stopped connecting to Q box. Was working but now doesn't connect to sky Q box. Reinstalled app and now don't even get the recordings tab. Tried rebooting router and still no luck


Frequently freezes even more than before. Sky are aware state they are working on the known fault but still promote devices which can not support their own system ...sigh!


As a sky subscriber paying over £70 a month, getting blasted with 8 minutes of adverts in a 40 minute program makes this app unusable. Only wanted to see the last ten minutes of a program and took 20 minutes to see it. Also you can't cast the screen so if you're in a room with a sky box you're stuffed. This money grabbing company should be utterly ashamed.


Old app worked but this one intermittently don't load, freezes etc. Not sure how you can make a good app this bad second time around!!!!

App works fine on my Samsung phone, but just downloaded onto my Samsung tablet and it will not start. Just keeps coming up with the message "upgrade required - you need to upgrade your application to continue watching Sky Go". Even though i've just downloaded the app from the Play store (i'm assuming this is the latest version - unless there is a newer, top secret version that they don't want anybody to have - keep it out of the enemies hands eh Sky...... smart, very smart!). Waste of money.


Really disappointed with this app replacing the Sky Q app. The TV guide is nowhere near as user-friendly.


This app is rubbish. Errors keep on popping up every time I want to watch something. This really needs to be fixed


No subtitles, prime has subs on every thing and is cheaper than sky. As soon as my contract is finished bye bye sky.


Terrible, the Q one was better, tjis keeps buffering every 2 seconds. And its not my interenet connection as netflix and the Q one works great.


I've not used this app much. But decided to watch the Japanese F1 repeat live broadcast. Thought it was pretty good to start with, however I did need to pause several times. Thinking that it would pause. No, it stops the picture but not the broadcast so have lost loads of the race without realising. Rewind barely works, I got 20 seconds rewind after that nothing. It also unpauses itself and wont let you re-pause. Pretty bad! I wont be using it again.


Less functionality than than the old Sky Q app. Doesn't set recordings on the Sky Q box in spite of the onscreen message saying it has


Extremely buggy app. I downloaded it to my chromebook. First it wouldn't download programmes at all and said I need to upgrade, then after having to wait 4 hours for them to sort it the programme finally downloaded. Had no internet all day when out which is why I wanted to download. Then the downloads barely work. You press play and it does nothing. When I finally got it to work, there is a big blue overlay on the screen. The only way I can get rid of it is by holding a key on the keyboard.


Far too many ads. Have to watch between 1 and 4 ads just to start watching a programme. Leave the channel, have to watch them again. Even had more ads mid-way during the second half of the football. And all this is ON TOP of the live TV ads. Netflix, Prime... no ads. BT Sport no in-app ads. Yet Sky plague you with them and charge £90 a month for the priveledge.


Keeps dropping out usually at a important moment in a sports stream. Ie just a penalty is being taken an important putt is being played


Excellent app! Does everything you'd expect and much, much more. But that was back in March! Here we are in October with the updated app, and I have to report that it's much more difficult to find what I'm looking for. Before I could simply go to the menu and within seconds I could me watching Sky News. Now I have to go to the TV guide and look for channel 501. Come on Sky, the apps are supposed to get better as time goes by, not worse!


Omg. Latest update. Can't find anything. You click on "catch up" and it's a free for all. It needs putting in some kind of order....itv hub, Atlantic, all4, sky one....or you're just scrolling through loads of mixed programs to find what you're after. Don't you actually check your updated versions before rolling them out, because this one is very unfriendly. We need to be able to click on a channel for catch up.


I pay for the Premier League channel but am only able to watch it if connected to WIFI. Every other Sky channel I can watch using my data while I'm out and about. Sky told me it's a known issue and would fix in in a future release. Well they've just updated the app and it's still not working! This makes me feel that Sky don't care that I am paying for a service I am not receiving.


Rubbish. Have had sky q for a while and had sky go. Both worked and streamed fine. As soon as this app updated for sky q the streaming is rubbish. Cannot even get HD quality. The picture is so bad I feel like I have gone back 10 years before HD 2 even a thing.


I like the sky app but I do not appreciate being bombarded by adverts every 10-15 minutes.


Since the UI change the setting to stop streaming when not on WiFi has been removed, why?


I still cant view my Q box recording in the app without a multi room subscription... Sky+ app still more functional than this... Its still a full step back for ppl who don't want to pay for functions that were once standard. I've also had confirmed from Sky that the functions on the + app are now no long available..... Just poor. I know its free but apps are meant to improve not regress...


Still no planner... the original Sky+ app allowed you to scroll through the day seeing multiple channels at once. Useful if you just wanted to see what's on at, say, 8pm. The Sky Q app and now Sky Go apps don't have this, so I still use the old app for browsing as I am not going to sit here checking channel by channel! C'mon Sky... think about how people actually use these apps!


Latest version is shockingly bad but in all honesty that's what have learned to expect from sky! Skip forward/back only works sometimes and frequently jumps back to the start. Sound and vision are out of sync. Could list lots more but life is too short! Latest sky Q app isnt much better - full marks to sky for managing to get the same bugs into both apps! When my contract is up I don't think it will be getting renewed.


Skyq app no problems at all switch to this I download my box sets to watch at work. It's happened twice now I cant watch where i left off. But it will let me delete it no problem. Sometimes the downloads wont play at all. Well its 29.10.19 I'm downloading my box sets so I can watch anywhere. it will not let me play them at all now. I can delete easily and reinstall but no play on button. Please don't get rid of sky q app because that one I have no issues with.

This has got to be the worst functioning app I've ever encountered. Considering the ridiculous money Sky charge me for their services you think they'd invest it in to their tech. I download programmes to watch on the go and they don't play despite clearly being downloaded - it's that or starts playing a completely different show. Just tried playing TWD and got South Park?! When my contracts up may be looking elsewhere.


Too many adverts. REALLY BAD. I just try to have a look at an episode if I watched it or not and then I have to watch 4 FOUR ADVERTS before I can check it out. Then if I click to watch it in the middle of the episode, it goes straight to adverts. I honestly don't know how this app have 4 stars where every review I am reading is 1 or 2 stars. Sky probably paid too much to get 4 star 🌟 voting. Anyway, I like the idea to have Sky in your tablet however not with SOOOO MANY adverts.


Terrible on s4 tab, play button stops working on downloaded programs and now I've had to uninstall losing everything downloaded. Not impressed


This new Sky go app is buggier than a 20 year old mattress. Skyq app users are being forced to use it as less downloads are available on skyq to make sure you move to the new app. Sound and video are out of sync which is basic. The app crashes constantly. Sky you really need to do better than this. Already pissed off with your home tv performance. Updates every night stopping viewing unless you reboot the main box. Unhappy customer all round and you are way overpriced for your service.


Absolute Terrible app always loses connection to my sky Q box over WiFi forcing me to use my mobile Data to watch my sky TV that I already pay a fortune for


I had no problem using sky q app to watch programs on my phone also a sky product now I can not watch a bloody thing from the sky go app why do sky keep cocking things up


I previously used Sky Go on my Samsung Galaxy Tab E. Having now upgraded my Sky package I now have Sky Go Extra. However having downloaded IT I now get an error message along the lines of 'You need to upgrade your application to continue to use Sky Go. ' The only options are to Cancel or OK. And OK merely returns to Play Store to either Uninstall or Download. Going round in circles here.


The upgrade is completely rubbish, I seem to be able to download movies and shows however everytime i try to play them nothing happens, this seems like such a basic function and the ugrade should never have been rolled out with such a massive flaw. Im paying a ridiculous amount of money every month and im seriously considering going elsewhere.


Why is this a permanent status on my screen? I went to use Sky Q to share info on a new show with someone, told to download Sky Go which I apparently already had. It's now showing a status on my phone of connected to my box when there's no need for this. Couldn't actually share info on a show so I took a screen shot instead. Not used it for anything else yet.


Just downloaded this to watch something from my recordings and with in 2 minutes it disconnected from my recordings all I got was the circle in middle going round and round. How is this going to help once Sky Q app has been gotten rid of. This sky go app isn't "new and improved" at all. Am glad in 7 months I'm totally getting rid of sky TV altogether useless and very VERY expensive 😤😡


It's like they didn't listen. Losing the grid feature for the TV Guide is massive. It's essential in order to find stuff. It was missing from the sky q app and now exactly the same is in the sky go app! For the love of all that's holy, please put this feature back into the app!


So so much slower than the old sky q app. Definitely a step backwards sky!


since the upgrade I can't watch downloaded shows on my Samsung s10 - can get all the way through to the app but press play and nothing happens


This app is good but not the best. Your updates require a lot of space which my device does not have
