    I got to browse the selection online a bit but it didn't seem like a lot of thrilling stuff was on there. I saw a couple of classics, but no movies that were actually worth while. Tried to download the app and it kept saying that an error occurred. It has a good start to be something good, but from all the other reviews to the problems I'm experiencing now I'm glad I caught it before I paid for the year subscription for me and my friend..

    Paid for an annual subscription. Cant use that now and when I reached out to customer support i was told that it didnt transfer over to a new system. The advice I received from Shudder was to subscribe again, pay another fee and then they would at it on the back end. I havent had access to my account for 6 months but they want me to subscribe again. Worst customer service I've ever gotten and I work in customer service.

    I've been locked out of my app for months and it keeps telling me to update my subscription and I have a yearly subscription not due to pay until next month. I have tried to contact support and nobody gets back to me I feel like you just stole my money. I love horror movies so this makes me really sad that I cannot watch my shows.

    Continued to take my money eventhough I stopped my subscription 3 months ago. Besides this, I was charged 4.99 for a whatever google notification which said it was for my shudder subscription and then another 4.99 under "Shudder". This was a complete waste of time and money. Especially for being charged money when I CANCELED over 3 months ago and was unable to watch any movies in my home country.

    Wanted to renew my subscription. Neither the app nor the website will provide a password reset link. Waste of time. In light of the other issues mentioned in reviews, I guess I should count myself lucky that the lack of support was obviated before I paid for anything.

    There is a good selection of movies and other content for any horror fan. Adds frequently enough to the collection. My only gripe is that most films that aren't foreign language don't have captions, which is a big downside for a lot of horror films where the volume only goes up during scary bits. 5 stars if they manage to add this for films.

    Horrible. Nothing but access issues since I signed up. I have the fee deducted monthly and can't even access content. I emailed them but haven't heard back yet with their solutions. Pretty sure that I'm going to cancel the subscription. It's a shame because they really good content, I just can't access it.

    I wish I had read the reviews first. I was excited! A Horror Movie subscription, however I was/am very disappointed to realise Stephen King movies not available, plus plenty of other Horror Classics just not listed.. won't be renewing especially as they charge yearly & poor content, as well as customer service from the look of reviews.

    Shudder took my money for a year subscription which suddenly stopped working. After contacting them with proof of my purchase they have repeatedly insisted that I must have signed up by typing in my email address incorrectly (which is absurd in the age of autocomplete). They then confirmed that they found the subscription but it was cancelled and that the solution was to just sign up again and pay them more money! An absolute scam. Stay away.

    Horrible. Complete waste of time. Always telling me to subscribe to start a free trial. When I do, Google tells me I've already subscribed yet no access to anything. Emailed for help only to be told that they received the ticket and will get back to me. Uselss app and creators. Wouldn't reccomend to anybody. Stick to Netflix and Disney+ people

    I signed up for the free trial. The money was taken out of my bank for the 1 year subscription within seconds of putting in my card info, so needless to say there wasn't any free trial. Then when i try to log in it tells me I have to renew my subscription to watch. That's is the worst experience ever with Abby streaming services.

    I like it but can do with some more seasons.. Hate podcasts to many on here. Also can do with more horror and less sex as there more sex than horror.. Not A lot of great classic movies on there either.. If upgraded they will definitely have A lot more happy customers. I am stil keeping it on hoping it gets better but at the min I tend to watch horror channe or netflixl more.

    signed up to watch the dead lands because it's on the front page of the website as a new arrival but the series isn't available. On the app or the website. Wasted 30 mins trying to find it before I gave up. Good thing for the 7 day trial or I would have wasted money just to find out the shoe isn't available 😒

    1 star for lack of accessibility - there's no way to turn on captions once I'm casting to my TV. They're on when I disconnect and open it up on my phone, but not after casting. Please make sure your apps are fully accessible for people who need them. Running on an updated app and updated phone.

    This app is OK but not for me. For the price of membership and access to Shudder Originals the price is reasonable if your movie inventory was a lot more vast. You have a good app but I'm an avid movie watcher that requires movies that will make me get up out my chair, or watch it with the lights on.. help someone escape through power of thought., Nice but not for me, So please don't make the mistake of charging my account because I have already Uninstalled your application.

    The real horror here is the quality of the app. Connection issues, crashing, poor UI - similar but worse than that of illegal streaming apps. I'm paying for a service that I can't use, because the app is so bad.

    Be aware, I signed up for the free 7 days trail but selected option to pay annually aferwards. After trying and having a look at the content I didn't think it was worth it. I cancelled after 4 days but have now had the full amount taken from my bank. Really dodgy practice I want my money back.

    Love this service, absolutely worth the price. I do wish that there was a subtitles feature via the app (they have it on the website). I've got an audio processing disorder so I tend to lean on subs a lot.

    Great shows really loving the content. American Mary awesomr! but it's constantly not loading and just staying on the opening screen with the S. I have no issues with any other streaming services and it's driving me mad. I have Uninstalled and reinstalled and it's still not working. Likely to cancel my subscription soon coz I can barely use it.

    Great Service! good selection with many added, would only say that there isn't much mainstream on here but there is a great range to watch here and there. Not a bingers site for horror though as there is a lot of older movies so not to everyones taste. Great for what it is and look forward to seeing it evolve.

    Decent selection of movies, but it takes half the length of a movie for pages to load! App takes forever to open up and has slow loading times, which ruin the fun of a movie night. Not to mention the lack of subtitles when casting and how the app never remembers where you leave off in a movie.

    Wouldn't recommend. For a subscription service that deals only in horror movies it has such a small selection of horror movies you actually heard about or want to watch. Most of them are b rated movies and ones they make themselves. Tubi which is a free movie app has more of a selection. If you have neflex don't waste your money

    Just started my free trial not even twenty minutes ago, tried to watch something and there was literally a buffer period every few minutes. Lineup looks killer on this app but dear lord why is the streaming service so touch and go? Sad, you guys going to make your servers not suck anytime soon or will I have to take my money elsewhere?

    App worked for about a day, then it stopped loading programs. Even before that it was slow, kept dropping resolution and kept stopping during programs to load. I have a fast internet connection and do not have this problem with any other streaming service.

    It's clear to me the American version of this has 100% better content. Also same thing happened to me in terms of the yearly subscription not working. If u press free trial again, even if you've already used it it will work again.

    This rating is specifically for the app which operates at glacial pace. The service and content is actually good when you can eventually get to it. Just set aside 3 hours if you want to watch a 2 hour movie as it will take an hour to find it and hit play.

When I click where I'm supposed to, it's a broken link.. no support... no text back...guess I'm gonna have to call my credit card to cancel..SMDH not worth the trouble people.

    Man what a HUGE disappointment. Had shudder when it first came out and it was PACKED with Japanese horror. Got the trial about 3 hours ago and canceled it just now. I found maybe 3-4 Japanese horror movies and they were cheese. Shame shudder has gone downhill. Most all the movies are cheese also. Shame, shame, shame.

    Has some good movies, however its slow to load & keeps crashing whilstwatching, VERY frustrating. With the odd exception, a series of movies starts at 2 missing the first release so you miss out on the origins of characters. Great platform for new filmmakers though & old classics.

    Cancelled before the trial ended and was still charged. There are dozens of filed complaints on BBB for the same issue I experienced. Some people were charged annually subscription after after cancelling within the free trial period. Be warned.

    A good service. The app's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good. Streaming quality is pretty much on par with Netflix. Some good horror stuff, some bad horror stuff. Fairly priced, in my opinion.

    It is okay so far. I have no trouble with the app. I do dislike that I cant see where I am fast forwarding to. I dont like that for every ff I see the (S). The app is very limited, I cant see other episodes while I'm watching an episode.

    Got the app because it said they had Ghostwatch. Their website has a page for Ghostwatch, there's no indication on there that they no longer have it, but it doesn't show up in the app anywhere. I feel like the service lied to me just to potentially trick me into giving them money.

    Downloaded and paid. Can only watch about 20 mins of a show while casting to my TV before it stops playing and casting the show. Then I have to force close it get back into the app and watch another 20 mins of the show

    Shudder is terrible ! A handful of almost decent films and the rest are all z movies. I'm not paying 4.99 for a load of rubbish. Now the stupid app can't even open ! No broadband signal ?! How come I can open prime and Netflix then ! I have a fibre optic connection so there should be no problem. Sorry but I have to uninstall and keep using my prime.

    I would have given more stars, however, I would say easily 75% of the films are in foreign languages which is pathetic. Yes, I understand horror films are to be enjoyed worldwide, but, not everyone can enjoy a film which isn't in their language. There should be an option to view specific language films. Takes long enough to find a decent looking film and then it always seems to be foreign. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!

    When I first downloaded this app, its was brilliant and paid for monthly... But now, every time I want to watch something its kept saying " subscribe to the " so I did as its cost £4.99 month. Did it a few times in a space of a few days. Now I just want my money back and undownload this app as its feels like trap and a scam.... also I'm asking for help too instead of reporting this to the specialist in the police.......

    Probably the worst movie streaming apps I've come across yet. No recognisable horror films, or even films all together, that I've seen. Every movie here is either old movies or they're B grade! Or even more so, old and b grade. So bad I didn't even wait for the free trial to be over. Wouldn't be caught dead paying a dime for this !!!!!! Waste of time

    as for your last question about closed captions I'm legally blind and cannot read so it doesn't bother me and I haven't learned how to turn them on even if you had them so I really don't know I hope this helps

    Shudder would be great but... For a paid subscription service i find there is alot more variety on free apps like tubi which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me because tubi has every genre of movie and its horror selection makes shudders stricly horror app look really weak and not worth the 4.99 a month its really not and i hate saying that because shudder really does have potential but as of now im not renewing my membership i paid for a year now and its just not worth it nothing has changed.

    Hardly any good movies, couldn't find a single one worth watching. It does have the Halloween series and Texas massacre, but I've watched those a million times, but that's about as good as it gets honestly

    I paid through 16th but the app says my subscription has expired. This is not the first time I've experienced this with shudder. They also like to lose track of their annual subscriptions and try to recharge people. Does not work on Chromecast. Is really glitchy and overpriced considering they give zero interest in android. It's a mess. AMC needs to have an intervention with Craig Engler because he spends customers money on big productions, while the android app is trash.

    I like the service, but the playback features are LACKING. You need more than just a "Resume" button. There should also be a "Start from Beginning" button as well. Who wants to waste time rewinding all the way back to the front..its ridiculous to NOT have included that.

    The app is not that great. You would think that in 2021 where every other video app has PIP but this one doesn't which is insane taking into account that AMC owns the app. It gives me the feeling that this is a rebranded cheap Chinese app.

They say there's nothing they can do because the login email is different than the google play email! Google is now investigating them due to their refusal to refund or even to respond to emails. Sent their worthless customer service screenshots of my subscription and a detailed description of my problems. Even with the screenshots of my paid subscription? Their lackeys responded by saying they couldn't "find" my account. They literally stole 60 bucks from me. If you like getting what you pay for? This garbage app IS NOT for you.

    I have not had access to this app since march 2020, but they've been charging me. They updated the app earlier this year and it booted a whole bunch of paying customers out. I tried cancelling it in June/July and the damn account was auto renewed!. A couple of reps tried to help by offering me some free months, but I still wasn't able to use the app. Cancelling it again right now.

    I love this service, but unfortunately it has stopped working properly for me. And customer service couldn't help me. I've never experienced an app on Android or IOS have this basic issue before. In the past, the service worked fine. I don't understand what's going on on their end and why they are ignoring to help me. It's very awful. Problem: all streaming is audio only, but trailers actually show both video and audio.

    Took my money, no service. Paid through Google Play but the app refuses to let me watch anything. I Google it and this has been happening for atleast 9 months. Read a whole thread on Reddit about TONS of people having the same problem. Don't waste your time. They apparently have no idea how to update an app. I could understand if it was a few days or weeks... But seriously, 9 months?

    I'm definitely a fan of the genre of movies but this app totally sucks! It's so bare bones, it doesn't have a rewind feature, it doesn't continue to next episode when watching a series and it doesn't have subtitles for any shows, it says some shows have subtitles but I have yet to find one. I live in a noisy house I need subtitles, especially when there's accents I can understand easily, I got a 3 month trial so I won't continue service for these reasons.

    I paid almost $60 for this subscription, which is supposed to last for a year and had problems logging in, attempted to rest my password. Did not receive a "reset password" email. Finally, I contacted support and they sent me a new password (which also did not work). Until this day I am still unable to log in. I tried reinstalling to no avail. At this time I am still unable to log in, sixty bucks down the drain, just like that. This app is a total scam.

    The app won't accept your password arbitrarily on other devices such as your television. If you click the forgot password link, it doesn't send anything. If you open a ticket they won't hekp you remedy the situation before closing your account. I got a free month through t-mobile, and some of their movies are excellent. However, nothing is worth the headaches associated with Shudder

    I enjoyed the app however I wish they had more options and more known movies. Haven't been able to cancel my subscription through Google play for 2 months now, as it doesn't even appear under my subscriptions tab, and customer support was little help so we'll see where that goes. Overall not awful, but not that great either.

    I got this app and subscription because I saw lost boys on there. I went to watch it and there was this big black caption text box blocking most of the screen and wouldn't go away. I am hard of hearing and need the captions. I went and contacted support and very soon after they contacted me back. They fixed it so promptly and I really appreciate it. Thank you for having great customer support. Definitely get a subscription and watch lost boys now. It was great

    Terrible customer service and support, couldnt login to my account for over 2 months. The only help they offered was for me to create a new email address so that I could sign up for another account. Excuse me why would I want to pay more money for a service I was already paying for and couldnt access. I was told they recently updated their system and lost my info. If my info had been lost how was I still being billed? For the handful of decent movies on the service it's not worth it.

    I tried signing up for the 7 day free trial, and even got an email confirming that the trial was active. However, as soon as I attempted to watch anything, on both my phone and Chromecast, I get a notification that I have to pay for the subscription (which is completely counterintuitive to a 7 day FREE TRIAL). ***EDIT*** I was able to start the free trial and stream through the Amazon Prime-Video app, however I'm still not able to do so through any of Shudders' stand alone apps.

    A streaming service for Horror, this is exactly what we need! Although the app is still early, it needs a lot of work. It's very slow, quite annoying to browse leaving you not want to even browse lol. It needs a start from beginning button. Most important thing it needs is profiles. you can't get it on your smart TV (android probably you can). Worst thing is that it only loads almost half the time so the app basically doesn't work lol.

    This app stole from me. I purchased a subscription to shudder through Google play on October 19 and my app hasnt been allowing me to watch anything. It keeps telling me to subscribe even though I've already subscribed and paid the $5.99. I'm very frustrated and I just want the subscription, I paid for, to work. I've also tried on several occasions to send a support request but I kept receiving an error. It will not allow me to contact anyone. Emails have gone unanswered. I need a phone number.

    Fegister on the website first. This actually seems to clear up a lot of the app's account issues. That unfortunately doesn't do much for clearing up how clunky and unintuitive the app is. Very poorly designed. It also doesn't help with the poor selection. There are some great movies here, but a lot of the are available elsewhere. Very few of the shudder exclusives/originals are any good. Apparently "shudder exclusive" generally means "nobody else wanted to release it"

    This app is not very good. I signed up for a free trial through an add on youtube. After filling out my info, I go to watch a movie in my chrome browser, it directs me to the app. After downloading and installing the app, I go to sign in. It says username or password is invalid. So I opt to have it reset by sending an email. I did as instructed, went to sign in, same BS. After not 1, but 5 attempts to fix this, and getting the same problem, I cancelled my membership.

    The movies constantly stall. They go in and out throughout the movie. Which is very frustrating. It also uses entirely too much data. I really love horror movies. The whole shutter concept idea is great, however it needs a lot of work. Also I wanted to cancel my subscription to it and I'm having a difficult time doing so. However they had no problem sending me an email to offer a free month to keep me as a customer.

    Takes around 20 seconds to load each new screen when trying to play or review movies etc. If you stop watching a movie it doesn't save where you got up to so you have to play a guessing game to figure that out.

    Everything is either from the 70's or in another language. Not that I mind reading subtitles but it is a drag when it doesn't offer a language filter. None of the big time movies other than creep show & maybe a few others are even available. Most all the movies are indie movies that kinda died out as soon as they came out. Also it's near impossible to cancel a subscription. There is no button to cancel it. I have no idea how I will be able to, so I'm gonna have to ask support which is crazy

    Despite repeated attempts to reset my password, and shudders support doing a reset, the app just won't let me login. It keeps telling me the username, password is incorrect. I use my email address not a username (as usernames are no longer supported) but still the same result. Now I have a subscription that will last for a year, but no access. I've read these are common issues with shudder so I would've though it would be addressed but hey, a whole lot of people paying for nothing must work

    Wouldn't pay for shudder membership through Google play app. It didn't let me watch anything after I paid for subscription, just wanted to charge me again for a membership. Contacted shudder to see if I could fix it, after days of going back and forth they finally told me they couldn't do anything because they couldn't find my account (I sent proof) even though I signed up on the shudder app. 🙄🙄

    If you like constant buffering, this is the site for you! I had a code for a 30-day free trial and I don't think it's going to be worth more than that. It has some decent movies, but what's the point if they keep stalling/buffering every 5 min?? I've tried it on many different devices and keep getting the same results. Also, the amount of foreign films on here without having an English voice over is annoying. I want to WATCH my movies...not read them. 😑

    Worst movie app I've ever used. Takes a long time to load the movies. There are aprox 8 TV series in all. And maybe lucky if there are even 50 movies in it entirely. There are even a couple that say they are movies. And all they are is 1 picture in a screen for the duration of an hour. What is up with that!!!! Maybe put some movies on your movie app folks. 🤣

If you're a horror fan that can't get enough horror from the other steaming services, this is a must. They always add fresh content and have some great original shows (shout-out to Joe Bob Briggs).

    After having this app for over a year i suddenly find that i cant watch anything on it. I get a message when i try to play a movie saying that i need to confirm your account to stream. I follow instructions but nothing worked. I have contacted them on line because there is no phone number to complain. 5 attempts with them to correct the issue and no change. I just emailed them once again and told them to cancel my subcription immediately. They better do so. They just suck.

I've sent 3 specific emails and never got responses! They just tried to charge me a renewal today for another year when I've tried to cancel with them already on last renewal!     Shudder is a great horror streaming service. With that being said the majority is alternative horror and originals - which are actually very good! I wouldn't subscribe if you were looking for boxsets of the classics, but it definitely goes more toward a die hard horror genre fan who is looking for more than the generic to constantly rewatch. Their documentaries are excellent and their newer releases show better production than their previous selection; I'd stick around with shudder as it grows.

    From the moment I subscribed I have been unable to actually use the app. It keeps saying that I'm using an invalid username/password. Fortunately though, Shudder Support did keep in steady contact with me, genuinely trying to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, even Shudder could not get the app to work. I can still access my account by going into Shudder from my internet browser and switching over from Mobile to Desktop Mode, but it's still a huge headache just to watch a movie!

    Horrible company. I clicked on the free trial just to try it out and it automatically charged me $58.98! I decided to just continue the service but after a week Shudder demanded another payment to continue service. Both Shudder and Google Play refuse a refund even though I was charged and can't use the service! Shudder Support wants me to jump through hoops to "possibly" get credit on a new account. If I could give zero stars I would as I will be forced to try and cancel the charge on my card.
