So Many Ads! I was excited to try this because of the new twists and features, but it took me a day or two just to learn the navigation. Very "busy" and a lot going on; my friend won't play cuz she got so confused. You play against game bots more often than not, but worse than that is having to watch an ad after every turn. There's no paid version, either, only the "club" that's a subscription for $5/month. The decorative tiles are cute, but not quite worth all the other problems.

  2. Stephen DiGiulio-avatar

Something fun for a while. Way too busy and way too many notifications. I'd like to be able to search for players at my skill level, or at least give me some idea on the skill level of the person before I start a game. Also, I'm convinced it uses bots as some of its players. I played a couple games with a "person" who would "mirror" the score of a word I'd put down (if my word was 20 pts, theirs was 18, for example). No matter what time I played, the other player immediately played--10pm, 6am, 3pm, whenever. Immediately after a game ends, I'm asked for a rematch.

Cannot access the app. Love this game, I've been playing for at least 12 months. Yes the ads are annoying (do they actually work for the companies that pay for them?). Yes it's irritating to have all the animation and repetitive button pressing to collect the chests. But most annoying is that the app has stopped working .. it gets stuck at the loading screen and I cannot get in to play. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times but no change. Can it be fixed?

  4. Jorge Arganza-avatar

This game is almost playable. All of the flashing and blinking is a distraction from actual game play. The commercials are intrusive. There is no timed play so games can drag out over days. There is no way to disable the "cheat" options that allow a player to do things that aren't possible in a normal game of scrabble. I hate it but I play it because I can play with friends and ignore a lot of the nonsense. Please improve this game! Scrabble is a great game but scrabble go sucks.

  5. canucks3322-avatar

This ap is horrible. The old scrabble ap was clean and easy to use and this one is just an absolute disaster. The interface is a "busy" mess. There is no option to hide "public" players. They took something great and turned it into this garbage. Keep in mind your target audience isn't children looking for visual stimulation. This looks like it was designed by 12 years olds for 5 year olds.

This version of the game is bloated, slow, has too many collectibles and has actually stopped working on my tablet. It hangs on the loading screen. I like the duels and the tournaments - it's a neat twist on the game. But just let us play them game without all the flashy animations and in app purchases. Honestly, I would kill for a SCRABBLE app that I could just pay once for to remove ads, and be able to 1) play the game online, or 2) enable a pass and play option for home.

I was fooled into thinking I'm playing against real players - They're all bots!! Before playing against someone just check when they joined the app. Coincidentally all my opponents joined the app on Aug 14, 2019 - way before the release of the app on the store. I got suspicious when I realized I was playing against 2 different opponents with the same name, profile pic etc. It's a scam! They just want your money for in-app purchases but the whole thing is rigged. Super disappointed!

  8. Sarah Hassall-avatar

Too complicated. You used to be able to play scrabble online & it looked just like the board game, that was much better. This one you can cheat & it spoils the gameplay. What's with collecting diamonds etc, what's that all about? I just want to play a standard game of scrabble. It doesn't even appear to have any settings where you can deselect these things. Pretty garbage really, disappointed

  9. Lisa Crowle-avatar

Pretty good but some annoying things. I would like to be able to turn off the match suggestions that pop up every turn. I just want to play one person at a time! Also, the rewards etc distract from the game, some of them you can't ignore for later, you have to play along. Tile swap doesn't seem to work for me but I don't like swapping tiles anyway. Overall, too many extra features. Why can't it just be Scrabble?

  10. Laura Hughes-avatar

Terrible interface. So much useless stuff going on and moving and flashing. I want to play against people I know and purposely invite, not random strangers. The rewards and levels are unnecessary and slow everything down. It's so hard to find anything in this app! Just want a normal scrabble board with tiles and a dictionary. Get rid of all the bells and whistles and animation.

Oh people what have you done to this game!? The UI is absurdly overcrowded, too much. I'm picturing right now the meeting of the project management team, design and development saying yes to every single feature proposal, Jesus, it's crazy. Such a simple yet amazing game like Scrabble has been ridiculized with this (kids-targeted?) UI and modes. Please, go back to the board and reconsider this before it's too late. P.S. I'm not even going to talk about the "cheating" option. For real? Damn.

  12. Faith Rico-avatar

Great app! Easy to play with my friends whilst remote! I wish it was more obvious that you don't need a FB account to play with friends. And there is a glitch when collecting rewards (the view ad rewards). I have snapshots of the app freezing when it's time to collect. Can be extremely frustrating to compete in tournaments but then not receive entirety of rewards, please fix this bug. other than that, great app! I like the new games included.

  13. Dean Walton-avatar

This review is as much for other users as it is for the developers. Old saying "There's no such thing as a free lunch." It meant that even if a bar offers "Free Wings during Happy Hour!" you were still paying when you bought the beer to wash them down. The developers put the ads in (the beer) in lieu of asking you to pay for game play (the wings). That said, developers: if you load the game with too many ads, we'll just stop playing. Thus you're just pissing off your players.

  14. Tracy Hall-avatar

Game glitches far too much and the ads are ridiculously long. Also, whenever I have a prize, on the last item that requires me to watch a video, the "get prize" button is grayed out. Used to happen every once in a while, today, it's happening on every prize. Make a paid version, NOT a subscription, without ads, and fix the prize problem. Update: Get prize button still grayed out on reward chests. Every chest yesterday. You play to earn rewards and consistently get cheated out of them. Smh.

  15. A G-avatar

So the app functions just fine, but it really poorly represents the real-world game. It tries to make everything glossy and fun. It loses the simple thinking pleasure of the root game. Too much sparkle and bounce. My goodness... Then as I was playing with a friend and reading other reviews, it suddenly gave me a treasure chest and forced me to interrupt the game to level up. Buahahaha. I think I'll order a Scrabble board online and play on zoom.

  16. A Google user-avatar

I like the game alot, but now they have added this feature that tells you if the word you wrote is good or not as you are putting the word in, I feel that is like cheating because you can fall into words that you don't know by moving tiles around. I think they should remove that feature so we go on our own vocabulary. Many types of games, peer to peer regular and speed games, good app.

  17. Jeff Rh-avatar

The big problem with this version of Scrabble is that it is quite simply a battery drain with all the silly gimmicks involved. The value of paying $4.99 a month on top of that is straight up confusing, when it is barely worth half that value and that is pushing it. This game has a habit of not accepting a good many traditional Scrabble words, from two letters on up. Take any Scrabble dictionary you may have as reference and take it with a grain of salt if you do use it on this app.

  18. Matthew Kramer-avatar

If you are a Scrabble purist then leave this game well alone. If you are motivated my winning crystals, using power-ups, love never ending pop-ups and waiting for hours for your opponent to make a move then this might be for you. To get rid of the ads it will cost you nearly £5 a month - this tells you all you need to know! If you just want to play regulation Scrabble then this app will surely disappoint. Uninstalled.

  19. Matt P-avatar

The game itself is fun... It's just that it's impossible to just play a game. With the constant pop-ups, cash shop promos, level up nonsense, awards, etc... Not only was i incredibly frustrated after just 2 turns, but i couldn't even figure out how to gey back to that game. The original Scrabble is much more playable. Would not recommend.

  20. Alex Kawai-avatar

Awesome game, love the variety of quick word games. Now for my complaints. Tumbler game play is slow. Too much time is wasted submitting the word and waiting for the next letters to drop down. You need to make that smoother. Duels can be very glitchy. Many times I will play the first turn then my opponent suddenly wins the match, ruining my win streak. Also, if you offer a prize for watching a video, don't leave me after with a black screen and no prize.

  21. Erinn Keenan-avatar

The game itself is wonderful! I have an issue with the messaging part of the game. I am inundated with men messaging me with the point of finding if I'm married. When they find I am married they retire the game very quickly or want to know if I'm "happily" married. If your a woman beware! I don't mind the emojis in the messages or maybe a few preset short messages, but I don't like getting all these messages. Made the app unappealing after a bit.

  22. steven cox-avatar

Really good game but it crashes a lot. Its very annoying waiting an hour to play a duel then it freezes before the match starts. Then you have to wait another hour. Also some words are not real words. Not sure what dictionary is used but some words ive seen played are not words. For example UFO. Thats not a word. And there are many more.

  23. Christian Brigham-avatar

The WORST kind of free to play has now ruined Scrabble, too. Run away!! Incessant ads, everything funnels you toward purchasing in game currency, and to top it all off, the sound doesn't even work! I reinstalled it twice just to be sure, and I regret that. I was free for a moment, why did I go back? Ugh, deleted. When will these companies learn?! Given two stars solely because I completed a single game against my wife before deleting this hot mess.

  24. Margaret Massey-avatar

    Margaret Massey

Hard to explain how truly awful this is. Can't believe that it is replacing the excellent EA Games Mattel version. I just want to play Scrabble. I am inundated with ridiculous gimmicks such as crystals, chests and souvenir rewards such as "marble stone". Additionally, the game is hard to navigate. It is difficult to toggle between games and the screen is cluttered with fatuous challenges. I am playing games against what appear to be real people but who quite clearly are bots. Abysmal.

  25. Anne Porter-avatar

I like the way you can play multiple ganes with multiple friends, but there is a lot of extra 'app fluff' that I'd prefer to turn off. Also, my LG Stylo 5 has been acting strangely since I put this app on it, and this is the only app I've installed recently. However, there was a system update shortly before this (about a week?). Just be wary.

  26. Edoardo Bedin-avatar

Hi, I love Scrabble and being able to play with friend during this lockdown but after 1 full game the app started crashing. Now it stops working every 10 seconds making impossible even to try and make a move. I had very high hopes on this app. I am afraid I'm fairly disappointed. If you could tell me why it crashes all the time, I will be happy to play again.

  27. Dean Watson-avatar

Just another money grab for scrabble. When this game is operational its average at best. My favorite is when you have no chance of losing you get disconnected conveniently and then you end up forfeiting. Of course you must pay gems to continue. 4 times this has happened. I'm not a complainer. At the time of this post I have 1330 gems. If it is happening to me it's happening to others. I'm uninstalling due to the fact that this is nonsense and certainly only the beginning

  28. Alanna Good-avatar

I love scrabble. I even own the actual board. I love the concept but i can only give 2 stars. When playing the game and pressing the submit button word to play your turn........that button is much too close to my dock. I literally just played a blank tile by itself for 1 point in a critical game. You need to confirm with the player before submitting. Im angry. I actually am disheartened I'm ready to uninstall this app or even break my phone. Ease of use is not up to par.

  29. Nichole Foster-avatar

This app is way too flashy. I just want to play Scrabble with people I know, like the old app. I don't need gems or tickets, to deny tons of game requests from strangers, or to share my board and tiles to Facebook so the people I'm playing against can see them. The only good thing is seeing if a word is a word on the board itself. However, it is missing a lookup dictionary to check potential words to play or prevent your opponent from playing.

  30. A Google user-avatar

Very smooth gameplay with an ad every 3 word plays, which is fine for the free version. Where it bothers me is the constant asking to "turn on notifications", or whenever i go to close the app it ask "are you sure you want to leave?" with a very sad looking character. Seems minor to an adult, but to a minor I know, this prompted them to stay and play longer, leading them to demand more premium currency to keep playing events.

  31. Miff Tuck-avatar

Whilst the Scrabble-playing is more than sufficient, the app itself is horrendously designed; just a visually offensive mash of colours and cartoons. There are constant "level ups" and "rewards" that I couldn't care less about, and it's frustratingly difficult to find how to resume a game that you've started if you find yourself entering at the home page. A much simpler app would be such an improvement over this mess.

  32. Melanie Rawson-avatar

I was really enjoying this app until the update a few days ago. Since then, there has been connection issues and it keeps freezing. I know it's not my phone or wifi, because all other apps are working fine. Also, the ads on the top of the screen in the app keep changing even when the game freezes or cant connect. Please fix this!

  33. Elliott Gruber-avatar

The app is a calamity of different buttons and tabs. It is nearly impossible to find what you are looking for. The in game play is workable which is why this is not a 1 star review. The big prizes you are supposed to save up for are... Different tile formats? Cool. Even after exiting the game you will continue to get a never ending deluge of push notifications for some challenge to earn more fake points for different tiles which I have yet to be able to turn off.

  34. Mike Gillis-avatar

It's loaded with so much garbage, ads, side minigames, gems, baubles, trinkets, whatever. I don't know what they think it will accomplish. My screen is constantly exploding with things telling me I started a game with some people I've never heard of and are almost definitely bots. If you ignore everything except the Scrabble part, then it's good, it's fine, Scrabble is in there somewhere. The developers are on crack though. Must have taken some old boardgame company executives for a real ride.

  35. Jen Farhead-avatar

I've been enjoying playing this game with my friends and family, it's actually become very competitive haha. My main complaint is that you can't play with more than one friend on the same board. My other complaint is the 'busy-ness' of of the set up. It'd be nice to have it be just a bit more simple. Every time you finish playing your turn, a pop up with random game invites comes up, I'd rather it showed the games that I am on, instead of me having to go back to the main screen.

  36. Stefano Lacchin-avatar

    Stefano Lacchin

I'd give it five stars but I want this answered first. Why almost all of my opponents are fake? I'm Italian playing in Italian with an English OS and 9 out of 10 opponents have English names like "James K", "Stephen J" and "Mabel W". They also have faces that don't look Italian at all (it's really not so hard to tell in most cases) but play in Italian proficiently. If the game is using my face to pretend to play against other players, I'd like to know.

  37. Liz Coffee-avatar

Total scam. They draw you in without a lot of ads, and then start dropping them on you every time you take a turn. I'll also watch an ad to get an extra prize or whatever, but half the time it ends freezing up after the video but before the prize is awarded, and deciding not to give me the prize. Then makes me watch the video again. Clearly they're just getting double income off of that. I don't think it's actually freezing. It's not a glitch, it's definitely a feature.

  38. billy billy-avatar

Awful "gameification". Very badly designed with graphics to appeal to a tween. Allowing cheating if you pay. Devaluing of the game by allowing infinite tries at "words" - many of which do not actually exist. What feels like a dumbing down to wordswithfriends level of banality. It's a real pity you have been allowed to buy the scrabble trademark rights.

  39. Daniel Gleckler-avatar

    Daniel Gleckler

This app is just full of childish gimmicks with annoying noises and animations, and gaudy visuals that get in the way of just trying to play Scrabble. It also needlessly takes up the whole screen so I can't use the back button or quickly switch between apps. Absolutely horrific. At least let me turn off all the silly stuff so I can just play Scrabble.

  40. Gemma-Lynn Evangelista-avatar

    Gemma-Lynn Evangelista

Overall a good game to pass the time. The tournaments are fun to play. There aren't any other ways to earn tickets for the tournament unless you watch an ad or buy a package. The dual head to head challenge is fickle. It will sometimes force you to resign. Other times it will show a blinking red arrow in the middle or it won't process a game as a win so you'll have to wait an hour or so to play again.

  41. D Lavill-avatar

I love this game, but there's some bugs that need to be worked out. Sometimes it doesn't load. It freezes A LOT. Sometimes I'll be playing a duel and I can't do anything but forfeit. It will also freeze when I'm playing a regular game with someone and I'll have to close out and load it back up. My move may or may not still be there. If this was fixed I'd give this game more stars.

  42. Lauren Wallis-avatar

The actual game of Scrabble has been completely subsumed by all the stupid flashing "extras". I don't want to do anything except play Scrabble, I don't care about the colour of the tiles, opening boxes, blah blah. I'm not a child. Also the notifications on my phone to win stupid pointless prizes are unwelcome. I particularly dislike the way that it's presented to you to play against people with attractive photos and names- are they real? Are they computers? It's not easy to tell. Uninstalling.

  43. Jahaun Umar-avatar

Ugh. Scrabble is probably the simplest game you can play. However they've, incomprehensibly, found a way to make it possibly the most confusing app to look at. Rewards? Loot boxes? C'mon, the reward is playing against a friend with the rules and gameplay of the beloved home version. Don't cheapen the experience to look like every other garbage app out there.

  44. JD Joslin-avatar

Sorry. I very much prefer the original Scrabble. This is ridiculous. All kinds of bells and whistles and random flashy silliness. And then an option that shows you the best move before you take your turn? It's like you took the Mona Lisa and styled her hair, have her a makeover, and put her in a dress made of rainbow strobe lights. Again...sorry. But this sucks. (Uninstalled 4/3/20)

  45. G Wize-avatar

What's really going on!!! Not to happy! Tired of playing a game, then try using words from other games and they wont work. Someone used the word ZI & ARIA. I have tried using but they aren't working. Since when is an abbreviation a word. I've checked these out too and I haven't been able to use any of mine not sure what's really going on. WAIT!! I know, when the competition is stumped they cheat.

  46. Bill Mason-avatar

Better than Words with Friends (WWF) - I recently started playing this game and I like that it has an actual Scrabble board instead of the Variant board of WWF. I'm enjoying playing this game and overall experience is great. The only two drawbacks for me are that options are scattered throughout the App - A more simplified menu would be better (not a deal breaker). Also, I play on my Galaxy Note 10+ 5G and I'm not able to move the tiles with the S-Pen/Stylus - Please Fix.

  47. Al Desouza-avatar

Do not download this app! It collects personal data, consumes data & battery even when closed. There are way too many adds that cannot be skipped. This app is designed to keep you hooked on the game using FBP (Fake Bot Players). These bot players have fake profile images and are always online; their goal is too keep you as long as possible on the app, so that you get exposed to the adds for longer periods of time. The worst game ever, with many bugs. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

  48. Renee Thompson-avatar

Very confusing too much going on not relaxing like the real thing. The old Hasbro app was better. Very gimmicky. This app wants to send rewards to my in box. Constantly offering little rewards for my efforts. This seems like a child's game. I can not view all games I am playing in a list. As soon as I play an opponent by time I played a couple more moves on my other open Scrabble games the 1st one has played again. Clearly these are all computers not people. May not continue using this app.

  49. Jasmin Gow-avatar

Graphics are overwhelming and too much. Should be much simpler and not have 50 buttons on one screen. "Active games" is an inaccurate subhead, and there are suggested players to play against in this category... Making it unclear to resume your actual actives games. Too many ads (I'm including things like being encouraged to share your board on social media/send to someone). I wanted to like this more than words w friends, but for the above reasons, it took me about 5 minutes to decide to delete.

Could be a lot better. Please offer a paid version that disables all of the ads. I know that you are after the money, and we just want a version that isn't annoying. So we can both win! And put a simplified control scheme so that we can exit the match, game, etc. The main screen is just so f-ing busy! Less is more.

Very difficult to navigate through all of the cruddy side show noise. It was difficult to even find a game I had started. Beyond that ... game play is okay, but it is obnoxious that it tells you if your word is valid before you play it. Overall feels like there is way too much other non-Scrabble nonsense going on for me to stick with it.

  52. Dean Samuels-avatar

Game is flooded with bots disguised as real people. This is deceptive, scopely is trying to make the game seem more popular and keep you coming back to the app. If someone has an account made before the game was released, doesn't have a highest scoring word, and/or sometimes has an Adobe stock photo as their profile picture, it's not a real person. I think a good chunk of 5 star review are also fake.

  53. Maureen Muchimba-avatar

Scopely, you get an 'F' for this. This is a horrible game. For many reasons. It's cluttered with glitzy candy crush-like stuff. Prizes I have no interest in. It seems I'm not playing with real people because they practically force me to win. There is no dictionary. You are actually shown the best word to play before you play. You can even swap letters without missing your turn. And the teacher is no more. The developers clearly have no clue who their demographic is. Total fail. I uninstalled it.

The game play itself is fine, although bonus stuff is ridiculous... it's scrabble FFS. The overall appearance is schizophrenic - too much "stuff" and cluttered. And the advertising is BEYOND annoying if you are playing multiple games with multiple people. If there was another scrabble game in the playstore I would use it over this one. Very frustrating.

  55. Kate R-avatar

I love the game but I'm playing it with my dad. I have an Android and he has an iPhone and the delay between our moves is unbelievable. It can sometimes take a day for one of us to receive the other players move. He keeps reloading and now it's completely stuck on the main loading page. He can't even get in to play the game at all anymore. Is there something we can do to fix this?

  56. Dan Hess-avatar

The advertising is deliberately aggressive to drive the $4.99/month cost for a less annoying experience; I'd rather uninstall. The extra features, mini-games, pay-to-unlock or view-to-unlock content, ect make the app so bloated and ridiculous. Honestly the game looks, feels, and plays like a casino. A plain and simple version of Scrabble on the app store is desperately needed.

  57. Tom Tucker-avatar

Scrabble has always been one of my favorite games. This one is a nice distraction from the day to day grind. I just wish it was more of a straight Scrabble game, instead of collecting all these items and getting chests to open, and playing all these different versions. I just want to play a round of Scrabble with someone, which, fortunately, I am able to do at my own pace.

  58. krissy wigmore-avatar

Its OK... A lot more cons than pros though. The one thing I love about it is the cool tiles you can earn. Other than that the whole game is a bit confusing, there is so much stuff all stuck into it that it doesn't need. And this is totally a pay to win game now. The old scrabble is so much better, this is just a cash grab!

  59. ian .stevens-avatar

I've been playing for a few days now and I'm sure I'm playing against bots and not humans. I say this because the players are making the most stupid placing of tiles. I'm winning 23/1 I'm sure it's bots? After playing for a few days I've definitely come to the conclusion that all players are bots. Extremely disappointed and will uninstall. If you want to play Scrabble look elsewhere folks.

  60. Josie Small-avatar

Intensely dislike all the cluttering with animation!!! Perhaps you are trying to appeal to children. Could you design a version for older folks like me? I am 76 years old and have enjoyed playing Scrabble online for years and dread the arrival of June 20, 2020, when the current Scrabble will no longer be available online! I will not use your version until I am forced to in order to keep playing.

  61. TJ French-avatar

Ads after everything, keep increasing with stay at home order, 30 seconds long??? Nope. Played for the first week, was fine. Stay at home orders start coming out all over. Suddenly, advertisements after everything. Taking me to the app store without clicking the screen. This has turned into invasive garbage. Shame on you all for taking advantage of a pandemic. I'll avoid this app and every app you all ever make now. Trash.

What a horrid horrid interface. Seems to be aimed at su par IQ with an age under 12. Definitely not appealing to the average Scrabble player. And what is with the flashing, time wasting loot boxes? After playing Scrabble online every day for over 10 years, this may be the single stupidest thing I've seen. May need to give up the game and take up something like knitting. Whoever made the business decision to go with Scopeley should be fired.

  63. Amanda Madden-avatar

A simple game made insanely complicated by bizarre bells and whistles I couldn't care less about. I would so gladly play for a basic Scrabble game that I could play with friends or against the "board" but apparently no one can do that. I do not want to be automatically set up with games with strangers, I don't want a weird string of nothing "prizes", and I don't want to have to read a manual to play such a simple game.

  64. Paul Howitt-avatar

Playing this game is like the early days of the internet-too much distraction and annoying pop- ups. The interface is okay, but when you level up your game is interrupted by a childish cut scene that takes forever to get through until you can return to your game. This game could be so much simpler and better; people play Scrabble because they like word play and using their brains, not because they are easily pleased by pretty colours and animations.

  65. Debi Lynch-avatar

The opening app is confusing and there was no way to know how to play a game until you opened up 2 or 3 games with people you did not know. Then you get people like Donovan who take 4 plus days to play a game on word per every 6 to 12 hours. There should be a forfeit time on them of maybe 10 minutes to stop this from happening. I had this happen several game. I do not want to always cancel a game because it does nothing for my average once in the game. But 4 plus days is a bit much .

  66. Paige Jalbert-avatar

Needlessly complicated. Can't find out how to turn down or turn off sound. Way too many ads. Every time I make a move I am bombarded with do I want to... And no I just want to play a game. Hate the customize your tile, pick up diamonds, etc. What does that have to do with playing the game. No, I don't want to put my contact list in, no I don't want to contact my friends. I want to opt off of those but I can't and every move I have to hit go back just so I can finish a game. So annoying.

  67. Jared Norful-avatar

The more I play, the worse it gets. Loud, fullscreen ads start after the second week, and the mute icon is checked by default (but not honored), requiring two precise taps to mute. The have a top bar slot for sharing on FB where the close button opens a fullcreen splash, but doesn't ever close the interface element, costing real estate. The app is pushy, the interface laggy and imprecise (ignoring the garish color pallete). The only reason to keep is that it sucks less than the alternatives.

  68. Tiffany Bayliss-avatar

You can play Scrabble with friends on this app. That part works. But I don't know why I'm constantly getting peppered with notifications about "rewards" and "levelling up" and other things I don't understand or care about, accompanied by long animated sequences. I also don't want daily notifications prompting me start games with strangers, or to have those games started for me. Finally, the interface is horrifyingly garish and unintuitive, it's actually exhausting to look at.

This app is awful. They've managed to mess up Scrabble completely, and I can't understand why Hasbro/Mattel licensed it. Scrabble has existed for 75 years, and it has actual rules. The app adds in new rules suitable for children or people with poor concentration. It does not allow players to have a standard game of Scrabble. Instead, it is full of flashing pop ups, stupid "rewards", and it explicitly includes functions which allow players to cheat while playing. This isn't Scrabble.

  70. Ian Smith-avatar

Really like the game. But.....there is so much going on. Too many ads, that repeat constantly. The messaging function is very basic. Feels like going back years somehow. The game freezes a lot. Especially when you switch to another app and when you open a prize chest. Oh there shouldn't be a hint/cheat function. Why have it? Playing the actual game is great though.

Ridiculously dumbed down for Scrabble, it's awful, any chance of a grown up version? Oh we had one but it's been ditched for this abomination. Do the people who came up with this not understand the demographic and social background of people who play Scrabble? I'm uninstalling now and having read about the first 50 reviews, all 1 star, which back up my thoughts, how the heck does it rate at 4.7??????? Don't bother if you have a mental age above 8 years old.

  72. Ryan Junior-avatar

It's a fun game but has way too many glitches, way too much lagging and freezes up all the time. This happens on the phone app and on a pc through it's definitely not a connection problem on my end. Try to fix these to make your game top notch before worrying about customers buying things in game, you'll see how users will buy more when your game is error free and not the other way around.

  73. Dan Yavuzkurt-avatar

it's nice to be able to play the original Scrabble with the original rules instead of words with friends... But the controls are slow and clunky, and it's really frustrating to keep accidentally putting letters on the wrong square because they don't zoom in far enough and don't have good touch tracking. Animations are way too bouncy and flashy and very distracting. Not to mention all the ads and premium nagging!

  74. Courtney E-avatar

So busy and chaotic! There's an overload of information everywhere, and it's not even clear information! I'm constantly confused thinking, "huh?", or "Where do I access the game I'm currently playing?" There should be a much clearer, more organized, less convoluted, less busy homescreen for users.

  75. Sheila Donovan-avatar

I'm convinced that I'm playing against a computer sometimes and not an actual person-especially on the duels. What a coincidence that no matter where I place a word or a block, they have just the right letters to go around my block or above my score. And how about the fact that there's never a lag between plays no matter how many people I'm playing against. I could be wrong but if I'm not, I'd like to know that.

  76. Maria Schlafke-avatar

Good idea of being able to play with friends or being match by level. However, not safe for KIDS. Through private chat MEN like to engage in inappropriate communication and when you don't reply or ignore their requests they just terminate the game. Not safe for kids. More of a sex pickup chat. Too many ads. Great idea and platform if it would be more secure.

  77. Chris Michaels-avatar

Worst game ever! The ads you can't close are frustrating, there are pop-ups against your will every few minutes, the game is way too busy with stuff everywhere. It's confusing and annoying! I don't care for the million gifts and items you need to build stuff. I don't want it! Why does it share information of when you were last online with others? That's privacy infringement! Most annoying game ever! I just want to play scramble without the other nonsense

  78. TH0M086-avatar

Was after an easy to navigate, tidy and basic appearance, traditional Scrabble game to play against people. This is not it. It's scrabble.... It doesn't need to be bright and colourful. People play it for the gameplay, not because they're drawn in by the (horrible) vibrant colour palette or silly sense of accomplishment for completing pointless levels.

It's nice to have a different kind of game in Scrabble. But I just wanted to play a fair game. And I think having "power ups" in this game is kind of a cheat as this is a vocabulary game. Knowing what your capacity and learning as you play longer. But using those add ons defeats the game's purpose in my personal opinion.

  80. Rob Piggot-avatar

Where is the Scrabble? Definition of missed opportunity with this app. Give people what they want rather than what you think they want. Developers, read the reviews. I'd be happy enough to pay for something without inumerable ads, that looked like original scrabble, that would give me functionality to simply invite friends to play (not through FB or harvesting my contact list).

  81. Tom Gardiner-avatar

I love Scrabble. This is NOT Scrabble. With the incessant begging to connect with a friend it feels like a dating app. With the constant jumble of images, sounds, & bright colors it looks like a child's game. The layout, such that it is, is busy, cluttered, & appears to not have been planned out at all. Oh, and the ridicously-priced subscription pay model is a death-knell for this game. I wouldn't give you $0.99 for this game as a one-time payment. Uninstalled minutes after install. NO SALE!

  82. Todd LcNm-avatar

It's basically watching ads most of the time with a minimal amount of Scrabble thrown in with ads during the Scrabble. And then some more adds before and after the other ads, then later in some more ads, but really, I'm under representing the amount of ads in this game. Imagine reading this review taking about five minutes because of all the adds you would have to stop and wait for.

  83. Karen Salguero-avatar

I am enjoying it. BUT it does need tweeked. Can you add a notepad to hold possible words. I have words I am considering playing but some of the wait times till my next turn washes them from my memory. The notepad can be auto cleared at the end of the game. It is truly frustrating waiting hours for my move only to have forgotten what I wanted to do.

Recommended this game to my wife but probably we're gonna look for an ad-free game elsewhere. At the beginning, no ads and interface looks bubbly. But with time , I started to notice so many confusing and unnecessary pop-ups, ads, baits... Get 5 gems for wasting 30 seconds of your life which you'll be doing over and over again.. I'd pay 5 bucks for this once and enjoy the game...not whatever dollars every month. You guys should rework your selling model or someone else will step in and scoop up

The game itself is a lot of fun. However, you have to be very careful about communicating with other players. Several of them became very pushy about wanting me to begin to text or email them outside of the game interaction. I of course refused. I noticed that the UK flag appeared on their profiles and they often misspelled my name and used broken English. One of them completely changed his name and profile in the middle of our game. Just be careful!

  86. Cesca Jay-avatar

I just want to play Scrabble. I don't care about gems, levels or treasure chests. I find those things quite irritating. I would like to play with friends, but I don't have Facebook, so I can't play with friends through there. It gives the option to sync contacts, but it's not clear whether it will send an invite to all of my contacts if I click that - I definitely don't want to do that! Needs to be clearer. And the ads are infuriating - I'd rather pay for the app than have those.

If you want to be messaged by every pervert on the internet, definitely download this game. If it wasn't for this messaging feature the game would be perfect. Might take this part of the game down. I am married and carrying twins at the moment. It is extremely unsettling that men who are 30 years older than me continue to message me. Requiring me to resign games and lose points.

  88. Keith Jacques-avatar

This is terrible. Nothing like the original which was a fairly faithful copy of the original board game. This new app has far too many things going on which are not needed, does not have a dictionary for checking which is needed or the table of valid 2 letter words. It also changes the appearance of your tiles which you can do nothing g about. Oh for a simple copy of the board game. I gave thus 1 star as I cou,d not give none!

  89. tess simpson-avatar

Updated it, now it doesn't get past the third piece when loading. Uninstalled it and installed again, still doesn't load past the opening page. Would give it ∅ stars. It's been a couple of days now; at this rate all of my games will be considered forfeited by me. I had about 10 started and in seven I was in the lead. Major thumbs down for not being able to play a ”timed" game.

I've been playing Scrabble since 2009. I got the message that this would replace it. I tried a game tonight and there is a lot of time wasted winning "prizes" and treasures. I just want to play. I don't even mind getting ads on the normal Scrabble. Also there is no feature of best word. The best word feature is available after you play each word and it tells you what would could have done better. This game seems more suited for children.

  91. Dispersion-avatar

Why not leave it as it was! Had I wanted to play a foolish game I would have stuck to Subway surfers, candy crush. Ruzzle though childish, is far better compared to this version of Srabble. Please give us an option to choose the older Mattel thing or go for this fancy thing. A lot of my friends stopped playing after trying this new version. They uninstalled it altogether.

Love the game. But there should be a way to set a timer for players to play. I have 5 games waiting on other players, some for 5 days now. Absolutely ridiculous!!! How is that fun? I'm not spending money if i have to wait a week in order to finish a damn game. There should be levels beginner, intermediate, expert.

  93. Matt Dick-avatar

A pain in the eyes. This game has the most spam I've seen in an app. All I want is to play scrabble with my brother but the game is constantly trying to force chests and rewards and games with randos. So much so that it is difficult to actually start a game with someone you know. Terrible app design for a great game. It's a shame.

  94. Crystal Palmer-avatar

I actually really like the game scrabble, but in this situation i hate it strongly. There are so many ads i can't get back to the game i have to collect diamonds and style my tile and as a friend i just want to play so I'm going to uninstall it off my phone and find something more simple i don't want to be frustrated with a silly game.

  95. Will Osmond-avatar

A pretty enjoyable Scrabble experience. The ability to get hints with "diamonds" is different but helps the games to move along quickly. You can play against numerous opponents and can pickup or put down at your convenience. The only real frustration is constantly being asked to give up your contacts or your Friends list to recruit new players.

Too many obvious AI players, too many stupid men using it as a dating app. Too many stupid men starting a game, trying to chat you up and then abandoning the game as soon as they see you're not interested. They just waste your time. I'm here for the game, not for your knob! The basic game itself is good, works well, too many bells and whistles, but I stick to the basic game and it's nice. Overall, nice game, in an annoying setting with too many pervy men who think everything with a chat function is a dating app.

  97. sue hillerich-avatar

My one big problem is needing to be onfacebook... I do not like facebook and will not use it. That makes a problem for finding my friends and family, your app wants to download my entire address book. While some on my address book wouldn't mind this others would not be pleased. Perhaps you will find a way for non facebookers to feel welcome. While I have played others, it would be nice to play with the people that I sent this game to. I saw this game and immediately sent it to my friends

  98. David Gosnell-avatar

It works, I can play friends (and some other random people it thinks are friends, and I wish could be hidden – GDPR issue anyone?) but boy does it induce a migraine trying to keep track of what's what, with so many fancy buttons, rewards flying around and whatnot. If it had a "calm down and just show me my games" mode, that would be very welcome. Also needs to respect that most new phones do not have physical navigation buttons, which makes the full screen display very cumbersome.

  99. Marie Browning-avatar

Uninstalled after completing only two games. I've had 7-10 games going for years. I will stick to the old version as long as I can. Then I will miss Scrabble until I can find one akin to the old version. I much prefer the simplicity of the old version. I just want to play the game. I don't care about fancy tiles or "earning" rewards. I won't be playing as much due to the wasting time on unwanted "features."

  100. Phillip Luebke-avatar

Sure, the old Hasbro/EA app had its issues, but this app shouldn't be allowed to use the Scrabble name. The "classic" game doesn't appear to follow official Scrabble rules, and anyone can cheat if they have earned enough (or are willing to buy) gems. I've never played Candy Crush, but this app is what I imagine it would be like: Candy colors, lots of sound effects and animations, and prompts to keep you playing. The other word games in the app are fun, but the names keep changing. What is what?
