Reviews From google play store

Despite the excellent content, the Android TV app is just horrible. Laggy, awfull navigation through the remote, sometimes videos will play without any sound, or will not play at all for no reason. Unbelievable that a company this size can make such a bad app.

This app works well enough not as well as Netflix but its ok with room for improvement. I have it on my Nvidia Shield and on two of my Xiaomi Mi boxes I had to side load it on the Mi boxes it works on them I don't know why Google Play has them listed as incompatible.

There is no "," in the login keyboard (on Sony Oreo Android TV). I cannot login with my password because of that. Either I must change the password and change all my saved password from existing devices or stay log out! Please correct your keyboard layout and add comma into the keyboard layout.

You need to learn from Netflix.. Netflix work flawlessly on Sony Bravia Tv and play video superbly at very slow internet speed.

like it so much but unfortunately, it doesn't support Arabic subtitle.

4k steaming on Sony Bravia is awesome but it does not make recommendation to the home screen like the other steaming apps do and there is no channel available to add on the home screen.

I thought the recent announcement from Amazon/Google said Prime would be made available on other Android TV devices but the MiBox S (MiBox 4) is still showing as not compatible. I'm glad that casting Prime from the mobile app to the MiBox now works but I miss the ease of using a built-in Android TV app and a remote. The Prime app works well on the Shield but most people don't have $170 to put a Shield on every tv. Please add the MiBox S one the compatible device list for this app..

This is better than the old built-in app for Sony's Android TVs. I'm wondering why it's not available for the Sling AirTV Player though. Update -one star because it's still not available for the Sling AirTV player.

Video and audio quality is fine for me, really like the UHD quality on my Philips 4K TV. The interface is awful though: - Going forward or backwards is a nightmare. - Doesn't show me the last episode I was watching, have to navigate to the season and episode to resume (I think this feature used to be ok at first but isn't working well this last couple of months). - For some reason the subtitles turn off every few days, when I turn them on the default is Danish and I have to interrupt viewing and go back to choose English, no option to put English as default. I really don't get it how a company like Amazon can't get an app right, it's miles away from Netflix in terms of ease of use.

very high data usage when compared to netflix and hotstar at same quality

The application does not support the Arabic subtitle display on the Android TV devices and does not support the chrome-cast feature in order to solve the problem the Arabic subtitle works excellently on smartphones only

It is unfortunate that Amazon is not making this app compatible for Mi range of TVs. As of now, there are many buyer who prefers Mi LED TVs over other, because of huge price margin. Due to incompatibility, the users are opting for some other contemporary apps such Hotstar, zee5 etc. Amazon Prime, it is time to come in liberalization age and make it available to all TVs.

With this release on my Sony TV, prime video subtitles cannot be changed from dansk. I reverted to the factory installed release (4.6.0) and subtitles work fine. Otherwise the app is good. I assume this will be fixed in the next release?

Very bad, audio drops, freezing impossible to see if atmos or hdr10+ is present etc...

Most valuable company in the world. All those billions and they couldn’t spend some to do simply usability tests on their TV application. Absolute sheer garbage!

good on NVIDIA Shield, please make available for MI Box and ASUS Nexus Player

Im not sure why the app is so bad...

This app is severely flawed. Not only is there not a way I could find to limit searching for only video avalible with prime and video that is an extra charge, but also there is a poor way to sort and search in general as you will need to keep scrolling down to find the type of media you are looking for.

Poor interface (no way to easily skip forward/back 10 seconds), commercials, and stops working once a month inexplicably.

4.12.x stretches all movies on my 1080p screen with wrong aspect ratio. 4.11.x has no such problem. Need to fix it ASAP.

they finally fixed to have a smooth playback of uhd on philips 6501, but as the past versions, no HDR. It only works with the app coming with the tv but there is stutter

Amazon 2010 called and wanted his UI back.

To add to the heap of discontent with this red-headed stepchild of Prime Video apps, here is another Prime household who has been experiencing stutters, lags, freezes, blank video, no audio, and...hmmm...nope, that's "it". Really, Amazon, we pay for your products, pay for your services (Prime, Video, Music, Cloud), have your apps installed on various other Android devices, yet the one device purpose built and purchased for apps like your SPECIFICALLY BUILT 'Prime Video - ANDROID TV', has nothing but issues with it, and with no other app. Please. Fix the app. It's for most of our sanity.

Horrible experience, frequent but random freezes, "forgetting" if current position during freezes, which requires to start from beginning, stuttering and overall just bad. The usual app for mobile devices works much better, why does the TV version have to be so underwhelming? You know we're paying for prime, right?

I am using a Philips 6500 Series UHD Android TV which is running at Android Version 8.0.0 which has no problems streaming 4K content via Netflix or Youtube apps. But this disgrace of an app is stuttering constantly even with streaming HD content, occasionally dropping audio sync, assuming my preferred app language because of the location I happen to live in (Germany-German). and not bothering to provide any options whatsoever to even changing it. Moreover, it even does not store (remember) my preferences for audio and subtitle settings or disregards them arbitrarily so that I need to go in and set it every time I watch something (even if I see the correct setting the program that happens to be marked with "dt/OV" where OV stands for "Original Voice", starts with German overdub for instance). I am not even mad at the abysmal selection and content menu as I can live with it if it was doing what it is supposed to be doing properly. That is to stream content on a 200 mbit internet connection where the TV is connected via cable to the modem. Terrible, terrible app... No excuses for this level of absent quality.

Prime Video - Android TV Not supported Arabic Subtitles !! But in Other Devices like laptop and IOS device its work 100% !!! I want to watch in my TV not in my other device !!! By the way I have Sony BRAVIA KD-55X9000E

The only good in this app is some content. I'll base comments on my experience working as a Product Designer for VOD. This app is a good example of awful UI and experience design. Rewind timeline control came straight from 60s Search is not responsible. Why keyboard is so small when you don't use 60% of the space on the sides, imagine typing something sitting far away. User needs to go all the way up to access menu - it's unacceptable and badly designed. Overall it's good engineered badly designed awfulness that instead of helping, spoils my interactions with the content.

App works as expected. I have FireTV, Roku and Shield TV. This app for Android TV on the Shield TV works no better or worse than the others in my opinion.

I bought Nvidia Shield TV, and a major deciding factor is it appears to be the only Android TV OS set top box that has an official Amazon Prime Video app. This works flawlessly on my Shield. I was frustrated side-loading Prime on to other Android TV devices, and having audio drop outs, sync and other issues, but it is perfect on my Shield. Thank you so much Amazon for including this as a system app on Nvidia Shield TV !

Garbage! This app stutters and hitches on a mid-range 2018 Android TV from a very well-known manufacturer. Netflix plays 4K HDR content flawlessly, so what's Amazon's problem? Listen, Jeff -- I know you want me to buy one of your devices to get the "best experience" with your streaming service. That ain't happening. Give it up and fix the app.

Prime Video on android tv is not compatible with the Google Accessibility Assistant. Google Talkback or Sony Bravia's Screen Reader doesn't read anything at all in this app while it reads well in Netflix & Google video. Amazon Prime is fairly accessible with Voiceover on my iPhone but what stopped Amazon making it accessible on android TV platform . Not useful for blind users.

Video playback is decent, but none of the controls work. Can't pause, fast forward, rewind, etc. The only way to stop playback is to click the home button and exit the app entirely, which of course loses the playback location. So, when you re-open the app, the video you were just watching starts back from the very beginning. Very disappointing. Every other Android TV app works just fine - Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Audio track is constantly out of sync with the video track on Android TV. The app has minimal settings. Very poor indeed!

can't install on nexus player...

Likes to stutter a lot, especially at first. The US Open coverage has been usless. Amazon Prime Video is not ready for prime time. When paused for more than a few minutes the app just closes and you have to hunt out the episode you were looking for again. Has no one at amazon used Netflix? You'd expect such a big company to come somewhere close to it.

This app is basically failing to deliver the bare minimum, which would be a flawless video playback. Whatever I watch, there are recurring glitches and tearing present every couple of minutes and subtitles are usually out of sync by the end of a video, sometimes it seems even audio is out of sync. Apart from these, the entire UI is extremely slow, sluggish and just simply hard to use. If this wouldn't be enough, it is also prone to errors. Netflix's Android TV app is light-years ahead of this garbage.

Won't work on Mi box 3,or nexus player. So what support do you have for Android TV, Amazon?

Latest update has massively improved the app - streaming is immediately crisp, in sync and in 4K.

please add support for arabic subtitle

Absolute Trash! I have to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling this stupid app, including typing my email address and password out tediously with the onscreen keyboard and entering a code on a website to "register a new device" every second time that I use it, because it just shows a blank black screen when I start a video. This has been happening for a long time now and updates do not fix it. Get your app sorted out, Amazon!

Says available for some of my devices, then when I try to install says it is not available for any of my devices. Awesome work Amazon!

4K videos are not working on a Philips 55PUS6401. App looks compatible with the tv, i've installed it via tv's play store, 1080p videos works ok but 4K videos fails to load. Old Amazon Prime app was fine. Fix it.

Sound is quiet and mostly out of sync with video. Annoying. If I turn is up I still can't hear dialogues, but explosions shake the room. Very annoying. There is no way to find a movie you started, but never finished!

After 3 years on Sony Android TV, video playback in this app still exhibits frequent stuttering despite my internet connection and home Wi-Fi delivering high and stable throughput. It looks like the app is suffering from severe performance and/or A/V sync issues. Activating the voice assistant brings playback almost to its knees. Navigating video menus feels laggy compared to the speedy Netflix with lots of annoying waiting times when transitioning between menu pages. This app is also awful usability-wise on Android TV. Neither does it integrate with the global (voice) search, nor does it integrate with the HOME screen, not providing content recommendations or any channel in Android TV 8.0 Oreo. 4K content has been moved out of people's sight. It involves tens of seconds of scrolling to get to the respective sections. Huge pain to use this app!

Option to select video quality manually is missing. Many people don't have unlimited bandwidth. This app is eating up all my monthly quota for GBs provided by the ISP.

Search is slow, the interface is kind of clunky, there are buffering issues when shows first start despite my TV being wired with Cat 6 to an enterprise grade switch and gateway/router with gigabit internet, the fast forward/rewind experience isn't very good and it usually ends up going over where I wanted it. They should take some cues from the Netflix method of fast forwarding.

Over a million downloads and only seven reviews - six of which say its awful (seven of eight now). I thought the problem was with my Sony TV but sounds like this is just an awful app. How does Amazon, with their huge investment in streaming video not have a decent app for Android TV or other Android based hardware. Wait a moment - perhaps this is because they are keeping the working app for their own Fire (Android based) devices. Sounds like a class action is needed if there are so many people who have tried it and only one has said it was good!

Please add support for Mi Box 3!

Password for parental control to be entered by selecting digits on screen ! wow .. is this how you protect your password from kids ? when everybody is looking at the screen and you are selecting digits using arrow keys ! Cant imaging Amazon coming up with this type of UX. Please implement it the same way as you have done for Firestick.

Very slow browsing, hard to navigate and even harder to get to 4k content. Stutters and lags on Android TV for Sony XE90 ( UK version ) They should take a leaf out of Netflix book whose app works perfectly. Worst performing video app on Android TV by far. If I could give it zero stars I would. If Amazon are reading this, I would be happy to be contacted and run a beta version and submit bugs to help improve.

It is pure rubish app. The most user unfriendly and poorly designed app. The right app to get you blood pressure higher than a kite. Fidinding any show is an odissy.. It does not support an external keyboard. One has to go through the virtual keyboard clicking one letter at the time. Entering your account information takes for ever or searching. Triying to find 4K UHD content is harder than getting blood out a stone. The seach funcionality will only return the 1080p version of the show. It has an endless scroll down menu that will make dizzy the best pilot. Finally it has a setting menu which does not allow you to set anything. Even it one searches using a computer for a Show from Amazon original like 'The Grand Tour" which has an UHD version, the search result will only include the 1080p version. If talking to customer support be prepare to be on the phone for over a hour an a half and solving any problem. It is impossible to find adjetives negative enough to describe this app.
