The app was recently updated and once you're inside a series, the UI is much better and easier to navigate. There wasn't an option to skip recaps or intros before but that was added in this last update. They also added the option to go back or forward by 10 seconds which is way better than how it used to be trying to rewind or skip just a few seconds. The reason I only gave it 2 stars is because now I cannot skip the ads that play before pretty much every episode. This ruins whatever else they just added.

  2. Graham Hughes-avatar

prime video - android tv Would be nice if the "settings" let you set something. Being locked on maximum data usage is a killer for those of us with limited internet access. I will have to stop using this app, because the excess bandwidth charges will make it prohibitively expensive. Other than that - people will complain a lot about the app, but it does the job. Just let us have the settings that other Android versions of this app have.

download App always taken more time compared to other app to open. Also the streaming quality is fluctuating like anything recently and it is really annoying to watch.

  4. Jonathan S-avatar

prime video - android tv download It's fine but I would like to select higher quality options for download and things like atmos, Dolby Vision. There is download option on Android TV.

  5. Sahil Arora-avatar

prime video android tv apkmirror Bad app. Ui outdated. Moving forward and backward is pain. No profiles support in this app whereas it is available in fire tv stick.

  6. Steve Hoge-avatar

prime video android tv tcl Has basic viewing functionality but on my Sony Android TV navigating through content is awkward, transport controls are some of the worst of any streaming video app. However the DEAL BREAKER is very poor audio/video synchronization: the video lags the audio track by 200-300 milliseconds, making regular dramatic content annoying to watch but rendering music concert viewing pretty much impossible. The delay varies in real-time but the problem is common to all media on the Prime Video site. This performance is much worse than Netflix or Hulu (which has its own issues) but neither is as bad as this.

  7. Marc M.-avatar

prime video android tv box It doesn't work properly on Nvidia Shield. This is shameful Amazon !! And, no, I'm not going to buy a Fire TV just for Prime Video, sorry for you! ------------- May 2020: it finally works on my Shield 2017 (Prime Video 5.2.6)! 1 star --> 3 stars, because I had to wait 18 months to get this version that works without jerks in the videos!

  8. Omi Azad-avatar

prime video android tv play store If you want to compete with Netflix, learn how to make the app as brilliant as them. Stupid app.

  9. SOUK TV-avatar

prime video android tv aptoide Prime on android TVs advertise HD/SD together under one ICON/Banner and UHD content under a completely different ICON/Banner for the same damn show. Why? For example: If you searched for the show 'BOSCH' on your smart TV, two ICONS will show up. One ICON will have all of the shows in SD/HD format and the other ICON/Banner will have the exact same shows in UHD format. But why? Why wouldn't you just make everything clean and simple within the apps interface and simply offer us one ICON/Banner for a movie (or TV series) and then provide us a simple button allowing us to stream it at the resolution we so desire. Youtube, the world most successful streaming platform in the history of man, allows us to select a you-tubers video and gives us an option within that stream for us to simply select which streaming resolution we want to stream at. Its a tried, tested and proven method which just works, and everyone is accustomed to it. Can you imagine if Youtube did what Amazons pathetic developers did and chose to upload all videos on their own page with the exact same content but each page had a completely different stream resolution i.e 360p page, 480p page, 720p page, 1080p page, 1440p page and 2160p stream page, it would be ridiculous. Luckily for us Youtubes developers aren't like Amazons, instead they're very smart and logical.

prime video android tv apkpure No support for homepage channels or up next. Interface is the clunkiest and hardest to navigate of all streaming apps out there. Your app is so bad I’ve decided it’s not worth spending my money on prime anymore when there are so many better products out there.

Random crashing to home screen on ShieldTV. Fast forwarding and rewinding not intuitive. And would be nice to have user profiles like Netflix, so multi user households can watch the same TV shows at their own pace

  12. John Nielson-avatar

Will not work on my Hisense Android TV (Australia) but works perfectly using my Nvidia Shield TV. 4K, surround sound all OK.

the app come inbuilt with VU tv, but appstore says that its is not compatible with my tv. Also cant find the app on Playstore on my Android TV. So cant update, and without update can't manage the resolution of the video. Please make it available on app store for all tv come with Prime app in-built in TV. So 1 star for unavailability of app and ecosystem on my device, will update to 5star when I get the resolution.

Installs on the AirTv Mini 4K but wont allow you to login your amazon account, its broken Update: now you can login, but after a while, you have to link the account again, looks like Amazon is playing games with Google again! Feb 26: got a new update, will report soon if the login is persistent of if Amazon kicks it out on purpose. changed from 1 star to 3, if its fixed, this will become a 5 star app! Feb 28: login is not persistent, after a while when starting the app again, you have to login again and on Amazon, your device no longer shows up. Something is killing the auth for this device on Amazon. Back to 1 star. March 13, new app, so far the login has been sticking in place, 3 stars, will report back later for any other issues, 3 stars now. March 18 : with the last 2 updates, finally the login is persistent! Thanks 5 Stars now!!

  16. Vivek Shastry-avatar

If you're going to disable streaming of your 4k content notify customers and stop showing the 4k content upfront. Show the HD content only and have a message saying you're lowering the quality.

This app really sucks, it's not only that the interface is poor and unpractical, but, more important, the app is buggy and you cannot change audio or subtitles in certain contents that are perfectly configurable in the web interface...

  18. Hard Khora-avatar

Besides not supporting Android TV devices I own (other than the Shield) does not allow me to filter out content that is not available in my area. I would like to only see what I can actually watch.

  19. Anish D-avatar

Why are the default subtitles in Dansk. Took a while to figure out to change that. And reverts each time. Worst UI. Just copy Netflix please.

  20. Doug Hult-avatar

I bought an Anker Projector with Android TV. This App showed up in the list of pre-installed Apps. I never wanted it, certainly never installed it and what makes me mad is that I can't un-install it. Anker must have taken money from Amazon to try to force this App on all their customers. This is BS. Amazon Video now shows up in the list of products every time I go to install App upgrades but I can't use 'Upgrade All' because Amazon is always in the list. Please Google, don't allow vendors to force Apps on Android TV!

  21. Prasanth K-avatar

    1) I paid for Prime 1 year term and its TV app does not have the option to change the video quality to reduce the data usage. Please add 560p , 720p , FHD and 4K switching option in TV app. 2) Sound Quality and Volume is is very low compare to other application. I needed to increase 3x more volume to hear the sound properly 3) Also, add better fast forward option in the the TV app.

  22. David McJunkin-avatar

Great content and video quality, we subscribe to HBO and Showtime thru Amazon because the stream quality is so much better than their native apps. Kind of a clunky interface and nothing like other apps on Android TV as some others have said, I also don't like how if a screensaver comes on when your show is paused it kicks you completely out of the app and back to the home screen. No other app does that to my knowledge.

  23. Jitendra Dalai-avatar

The worst video player I've come across in android TV. Who gives a click and wait for backward and forward when you have hot keys in remote for the same. Please check hotstar. their app is awesome.

  24. Sanjeeb Kumar Prusty-avatar

    Sanjeeb Kumar Prusty

First of all the app is not able to install on my TV. After trying a lot the app was installed on TV and logged in successfully. But not able to stream any video in the app and it's showing check the connectivity. Wherever in same network other app streaming are good.

  25. Dave Johnson-avatar

Video playback is decent, but none of the controls work. Can't pause, fast forward, rewind, etc. The only way to stop playback is to click the home button and exit the app entirely, which of course loses the playback location. So, when you re-open the app, the video you were just watching starts back from the very beginning. Very disappointing. Every other Android TV app works just fine - Netflix, Hulu, etc.

  26. Animesh Sawlani-avatar

    Animesh Sawlani

If there would have been an option to rate zero stars, it would have helped. The user interface sucks, the forward and reverse function works like we are using a VCR. The app on firestick works great.

I am using a Philips 6500 Series UHD Android TV which is running at Android Version 8.0.0 which has no problems streaming 4K content via Netflix or Youtube apps. But this disgrace of an app is stuttering constantly even with streaming HD content, occasionally dropping audio sync, assuming my preferred app language because of the location I happen to live in (Germany-German). and not bothering to provide any options whatsoever to even changing it. Moreover, it even does not store (remember) my preferences for audio and subtitle settings or disregards them arbitrarily so that I need to go in and set it every time I watch something (even if I see the correct setting the program that happens to be marked with "dt/OV" where OV stands for "Original Voice", starts with German overdub for instance). I am not even mad at the abysmal selection and content menu as I can live with it if it was doing what it is supposed to be doing properly. That is to stream content on a 200 mbit internet connection where the TV is connected via cable to the modem. Terrible, terrible app... No excuses for this level of absent quality.

  28. otdrnetr-avatar

Video and audio quality is fine for me, really like the UHD quality on my Philips 4K TV. The interface is awful though: - Going forward or backwards is a nightmare. - Doesn't show me the last episode I was watching, have to navigate to the season and episode to resume (I think this feature used to be ok at first but isn't working well this last couple of months). - For some reason the subtitles turn off every few days, when I turn them on the default is Danish and I have to interrupt viewing and go back to choose English, no option to put English as default. I really don't get it how a company like Amazon can't get an app right, it's miles away from Netflix in terms of ease of use.

  29. Jonathan Mcdonald-avatar

I bought Nvidia Shield TV, and a major deciding factor is it appears to be the only Android TV OS set top box that has an official Amazon Prime Video app. This works flawlessly on my Shield. I was frustrated side-loading Prime on to other Android TV devices, and having audio drop outs, sync and other issues, but it is perfect on my Shield. Thank you so much Amazon for including this as a system app on Nvidia Shield TV !

  30. David Hughes-avatar

I thought the recent announcement from Amazon/Google said Prime would be made available on other Android TV devices but the MiBox S (MiBox 4) is still showing as not compatible. I'm glad that casting Prime from the mobile app to the MiBox now works but I miss the ease of using a built-in Android TV app and a remote. The Prime app works well on the Shield but most people don't have $170 to put a Shield on every tv. Please add the MiBox S one the compatible device list for this app..

Garbage! This app stutters and hitches on a mid-range 2018 Android TV from a very well-known manufacturer. Netflix plays 4K HDR content flawlessly, so what's Amazon's problem? Listen, Jeff -- I know you want me to buy one of your devices to get the "best experience" with your streaming service. That ain't happening. Give it up and fix the app.

  32. Sergey Chistyakov-avatar

    Sergey Chistyakov

The only good in this app is some content. I'll base comments on my experience working as a Product Designer for VOD. This app is a good example of awful UI and experience design. Rewind timeline control came straight from 60s Search is not responsible. Why keyboard is so small when you don't use 60% of the space on the sides, imagine typing something sitting far away. User needs to go all the way up to access menu - it's unacceptable and badly designed. Overall it's good engineered badly designed awfulness that instead of helping, spoils my interactions with the content.

  33. René P.-avatar

Horrible experience, frequent but random freezes, "forgetting" if current position during freezes, which requires to start from beginning, stuttering and overall just bad. The usual app for mobile devices works much better, why does the TV version have to be so underwhelming? You know we're paying for prime, right?

  34. Matthias Lane-avatar

To add to the heap of discontent with this red-headed stepchild of Prime Video apps, here is another Prime household who has been experiencing stutters, lags, freezes, blank video, no audio, and...hmmm...nope, that's "it". Really, Amazon, we pay for your products, pay for your services (Prime, Video, Music, Cloud), have your apps installed on various other Android devices, yet the one device purpose built and purchased for apps like your SPECIFICALLY BUILT 'Prime Video - ANDROID TV', has nothing but issues with it, and with no other app. Please. Fix the app. It's for most of our sanity.

  35. Ashish Kumar-avatar

It is unfortunate that Amazon is not making this app compatible for Mi range of TVs. As of now, there are many buyer who prefers Mi LED TVs over other, because of huge price margin. Due to incompatibility, the users are opting for some other contemporary apps such Hotstar, zee5 etc. Amazon Prime, it is time to come in liberalization age and make it available to all TVs.

  36. Steven Strife-avatar

This app is severely flawed. Not only is there not a way I could find to limit searching for only video avalible with prime and video that is an extra charge, but also there is a poor way to sort and search in general as you will need to keep scrolling down to find the type of media you are looking for.

the content is great but the app is very basic. no easy way to skip back and forward X seconds that it is a feature every player app has nowadays

  38. A Google user-avatar

Prime Video on android tv is not compatible with the Google Accessibility Assistant. Google Talkback or Sony Bravia's Screen Reader doesn't read anything at all in this app while it reads well in Netflix & Google video. Amazon Prime is fairly accessible with Voiceover on my iPhone but what stopped Amazon making it accessible on android TV platform . Not useful for blind users.

  39. Michael Rocha-avatar

It just stopped working today! I uninstalled it and when I went back to the app store to reinstall it, Prime video was no longer available. I have a TCL 50P8E certified android TV. Now all of a sudden it says that it is not compatible with my TV. For so long it was fine, what happened? Please fix this ASAP!!!!!!

Despite the excellent content, the Android TV app is just horrible. Laggy, awfull navigation through the remote, sometimes videos will play without any sound, or will not play at all for no reason. Unbelievable that a company this size can make such a bad app.

  43. Erdem Akca-avatar

There is no "," in the login keyboard (on Sony Oreo Android TV). I cannot login with my password because of that. Either I must change the password and change all my saved password from existing devices or stay log out! Please correct your keyboard layout and add comma into the keyboard layout.

This app works well enough not as well as Netflix but its ok with room for improvement. I have it on my Nvidia Shield and on two of my Xiaomi Mi boxes I had to side load it on the Mi boxes it works on them I don't know why Google Play has them listed as incompatible.

Prime Video - Android TV Not supported Arabic Subtitles !! But in Other Devices like laptop and IOS device its work 100% !!! I want to watch in my TV not in my other device !!! By the way I have Sony BRAVIA KD-55X9000E

  46. John Pickett-avatar

With this release on my Sony TV, prime video subtitles cannot be changed from dansk. I reverted to the factory installed release (4.6.0) and subtitles work fine. Otherwise the app is good. I assume this will be fixed in the next release?

  47. Daniel Martin-avatar

Not working with the Haier based Kogan TV I just purchased! Other devices work fine - please fix Amazon!

  49. Howard Elton-avatar

The application does not support the Arabic subtitle display on the Android TV devices and does not support the chrome-cast feature in order to solve the problem the Arabic subtitle works excellently on smartphones only

they finally fixed to have a smooth playback of uhd on philips 6501, but as the past versions, no HDR. It only works with the app coming with the tv but there is stutter

  52. Ed Truesdale-avatar

App works as expected. I have FireTV, Roku and Shield TV. This app for Android TV on the Shield TV works no better or worse than the others in my opinion.

  53. Dan Nguyen-avatar

No major issues with my 2019 SHIELD TV. Would be nice to have deeper integrations with Android TV by implementing things such as a home screen channel, though.

  54. Scott Swalwell-avatar

Poor interface (no way to easily skip forward/back 10 seconds), commercials, and stops working once a month inexplicably.

Really bad navigation, fast-forwarding, moving between seasons and episodes. Look at Netflix's app.

  57. Gabriel Rivera-avatar

Audio is out of sync with both Shield TV and Sony Bravia Android TV app. Amazon is probably doing this to make people pay for their Fire TV devices.

  58. Nishant Dande-avatar

You need to learn from Netflix.. Netflix work flawlessly on Sony Bravia Tv and play video superbly at very slow internet speed.

  59. Prakash R-avatar

Video is not at all coming. Jus the audio experience...lot of bugs....streaming quality option is not available

  71. Abhijit K-avatar

Most valuable company in the world. All those billions and they couldn’t spend some to do simply usability tests on their TV application. Absolute sheer garbage!

  72. Alim Virani-avatar

Im not sure why the app is so bad...

  73. Bill Young-avatar

This is better than the old built-in app for Sony's Android TVs. I'm wondering why it's not available for the Sling AirTV Player though. Update -one star because it's still not available for the Sling AirTV player.

  74. Gábor Árki-avatar

This app is basically failing to deliver the bare minimum, which would be a flawless video playback. Whatever I watch, there are recurring glitches and tearing present every couple of minutes and subtitles are usually out of sync by the end of a video, sometimes it seems even audio is out of sync. Apart from these, the entire UI is extremely slow, sluggish and just simply hard to use. If this wouldn't be enough, it is also prone to errors. Netflix's Android TV app is light-years ahead of this garbage.

  75. A Google user-avatar

Likes to stutter a lot, especially at first. The US Open coverage has been usless. Amazon Prime Video is not ready for prime time. When paused for more than a few minutes the app just closes and you have to hunt out the episode you were looking for again. Has no one at amazon used Netflix? You'd expect such a big company to come somewhere close to it.

  76. Nimrod Tirosh-avatar

Won't work on Mi box 3,or nexus player. So what support do you have for Android TV, Amazon?

  77. Teng Ken Khoo-avatar

    can't install on nexus player...

  78. Neil Bowen-avatar

Latest update has massively improved the app - streaming is immediately crisp, in sync and in 4K.

  79. Ryan Smith-avatar

Search is slow, the interface is kind of clunky, there are buffering issues when shows first start despite my TV being wired with Cat 6 to an enterprise grade switch and gateway/router with gigabit internet, the fast forward/rewind experience isn't very good and it usually ends up going over where I wanted it. They should take some cues from the Netflix method of fast forwarding.

  80. A Google user-avatar

Sound is quiet and mostly out of sync with video. Annoying. If I turn is up I still can't hear dialogues, but explosions shake the room. Very annoying. There is no way to find a movie you started, but never finished!

  81. turkoman-avatar

4K videos are not working on a Philips 55PUS6401. App looks compatible with the tv, i've installed it via tv's play store, 1080p videos works ok but 4K videos fails to load. Old Amazon Prime app was fine. Fix it.

  82. Deepak George-avatar

Option to select video quality manually is missing. Many people don't have unlimited bandwidth. This app is eating up all my monthly quota for GBs provided by the ISP.

  83. Daniel Bechter-avatar

After 3 years on Sony Android TV, video playback in this app still exhibits frequent stuttering despite my internet connection and home Wi-Fi delivering high and stable throughput. It looks like the app is suffering from severe performance and/or A/V sync issues. Activating the voice assistant brings playback almost to its knees. Navigating video menus feels laggy compared to the speedy Netflix with lots of annoying waiting times when transitioning between menu pages. This app is also awful usability-wise on Android TV. Neither does it integrate with the global (voice) search, nor does it integrate with the HOME screen, not providing content recommendations or any channel in Android TV 8.0 Oreo. 4K content has been moved out of people's sight. It involves tens of seconds of scrolling to get to the respective sections. Huge pain to use this app!

  84. Wesley Robertson-avatar

Absolute Trash! I have to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling this stupid app, including typing my email address and password out tediously with the onscreen keyboard and entering a code on a website to "register a new device" every second time that I use it, because it just shows a blank black screen when I start a video. This has been happening for a long time now and updates do not fix it. Get your app sorted out, Amazon!

  85. A Google user-avatar

Says available for some of my devices, then when I try to install says it is not available for any of my devices. Awesome work Amazon!

  87. James Bell-avatar

Over a million downloads and only seven reviews - six of which say its awful (seven of eight now). I thought the problem was with my Sony TV but sounds like this is just an awful app. How does Amazon, with their huge investment in streaming video not have a decent app for Android TV or other Android based hardware. Wait a moment - perhaps this is because they are keeping the working app for their own Fire (Android based) devices. Sounds like a class action is needed if there are so many people who have tried it and only one has said it was good!

  88. Karl Helmer-avatar

Very slow browsing, hard to navigate and even harder to get to 4k content. Stutters and lags on Android TV for Sony XE90 ( UK version ) They should take a leaf out of Netflix book whose app works perfectly. Worst performing video app on Android TV by far. If I could give it zero stars I would. If Amazon are reading this, I would be happy to be contacted and run a beta version and submit bugs to help improve.

  89. A Google user-avatar

It is pure rubish app. The most user unfriendly and poorly designed app. The right app to get you blood pressure higher than a kite. Fidinding any show is an odissy.. It does not support an external keyboard. One has to go through the virtual keyboard clicking one letter at the time. Entering your account information takes for ever or searching. Triying to find 4K UHD content is harder than getting blood out a stone. The seach funcionality will only return the 1080p version of the show. It has an endless scroll down menu that will make dizzy the best pilot. Finally it has a setting menu which does not allow you to set anything. Even it one searches using a computer for a Show from Amazon original like 'The Grand Tour" which has an UHD version, the search result will only include the 1080p version. Password for parental control to be entered by selecting digits on screen ! wow .. is this how you protect your password from kids ? when everybody is looking at the screen and you are selecting digits using arrow keys ! Cant imaging Amazon coming up with this type of UX. Please implement it the same way as you have done for Firestick.
