I've just changed phone from Samsung to Oneplus. Samsung had the Sidesync app which was useful in file transfer and finding out that Oneplus didn't have a similar app, I looked at what alternatives there are. I tried airdroid which I used to use but it didn't work as intended, then I came across Portal. I've been using the Pushbullet app for a few years now and so I thought I'd give Portal a go - and I was very impressed with the outcome. Very fast file transfer over Wi-Fi. Highly recommended!

Woah, they're not joking when this is really simple, it's the simplest way to transfer files from my laptop to my phone! Apparently you still need internet connection to access their website, and you can't transfer files from your phone to your computer or laptop.. So if you're often transfer files to your own phone, I really recommend this!

Finally my quest completed! You would not believe how badly I was in needed such kind of app. The app is does what it's day and I like that it's free without any advertisement. Thank you so much Pushbullet team Note: Seriously guys not complaining, just letting you know that the max file transfer quantity is set to 100 at one go but you may add 100 files again simultaneously.

  4. guest-avatar

For two weeks, I have tried numerous file transfer apps. They promised to move files, documents, music and everything under the sun. This is the only one that did what it said, was easy to use and setup and working in under five minutes. I don't throw compliments about easily, but this is the only one of at least 15+ I tried and worked easily and efficiently. Thank you. Lidia - Yorkshire, England

  5. guest-avatar

The app is good but I'm unable to see video files in my gallery app. I have to go into a file explorer and move them if I want to upload or edit the video on my phone. Hopefully this will be a quick fix.

  6. guest-avatar

Life saver. Thank you so much. For those of you who transfer a very high definition videos, normal video players don't work, use vlc its perfect for fixing this issue if existed.

  7. guest-avatar

What an amazing, amazing app. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will use it everyday. It sends files with so much speed. It's unbelievable. Awesome App!!!

  8. guest-avatar

Wifi is already connected with laptop and phone. and it keeps popping "Portal needs wifi enabled to transfer file". and no other options or buttons. I don't think this app supports hotspot from phone.

  9. guest-avatar

Portal no longer works for me despite giving it requested permissions, it won't scan the QR code and when it does it closes. From 4 to 1 star. Previous Review: Awesome app and very easy to use. My only grip is you need an Internet connection initially to get to the portal site.

  10. guest-avatar

    Dangeti Surendra

It allows you to view files (Photos and Videos) in the app only. You can't get the files in to your gallery or internal storage. If you delete the you loose data

  11. guest-avatar

Simple and functional, I try other alternatives but this one covers all what I need!!!

  12. guest-avatar

Installed. Copied 8 video files from PC to phone. No error messages. Great! Then..... Ah..... Hmm, It'd be super swell if I could actually find them on the phone. Like if they appeared in Gallery, under Videos, under an album named "Portal", or anywhere. Maybe the portal developers know where they are, but I don't have time for guessing games. Uninstalled.

  13. guest-avatar

Good for small files, bad for large files (50gb +) Using WiFi 6 in the same room as the router, so should be pretty snappy. Seems to get stuck on preparing to transfer file.

  14. guest-avatar

Files downloaded are only accessible using the app. This used to be different, now the app is practically useless without an option to show files in gallery.

  15. guest-avatar

    Amjad Al-Bittar

I'm not sure if it's possible to make the app able transfer data from phone to PC the same way (speed and everything) .. this is why 4 star

  16. guest-avatar

Omg! Worked perfectly! I spend so long time figuring out a way to add easily files from my network to the phone ..... you make it simple! Respect!

  17. guest-avatar

This was really good. For the longest time I have been searching for a way to copy files from my pc to Android. This app solved all of my problems.

  18. guest-avatar

Transfer files in a flash... So very convenient and so too good! Love it!!!

  19. guest-avatar

Totally deceptive. App description indicates only WiFi will be used for the transfer, but the app actually uploads through the internet to the portal servers and then back down, so you do not get the benefit of a true WiFi transfer (of course WiFi is involved for on small step of the journey).

  20. guest-avatar

It's incredible. Fast and without any problems, every file I sent went through 100% of the time. This is the best app for transferring files from PC to Android.

  21. guest-avatar

Wish it worked for transferring files both ways and had an option for using mobile data.

  22. guest-avatar

Used to be great but now won't recognise the QR code on my computer. Useless now.

  23. guest-avatar

Doesn't work...screen gets stuck on enable WiFi and no way to get out of it

  24. guest-avatar

    Salomão Parkour

Best solution for WiFi transfers! So quick and easy.

  25. guest-avatar

The web page never shows the qr code, it stays Loading...

  26. guest-avatar

Dosen't showing anything...."always saying portal needs wifi enabled to transfer file" although wifi is on

  27. guest-avatar

Close to perfect, maybe make it so we can also send files the other way round? (I.e. from phone to pc)

  28. guest-avatar

Just downloaded this. Unbelievable app. Absolutely love it! fast download speed. I am extremely impressed. So happy I found this

  29. guest-avatar

It always needs internet to establish connection. There must be an way to connect without internet.

  30. guest-avatar

    Wahyu Mahaputra

It's not useful from phone to phone. Only from computer to phone. 😢 I'll rerate and give 5 star if it can transfer from phone to phone.

  31. guest-avatar

As of the latest update, you're no longer allowed to transfer to an SD card, making this app completely useless.

  32. guest-avatar

    Yuvaraj Gunasekaran

Best way to transfer large files from your PC to android mobile through your home WiFi with out data cable...

  33. guest-avatar

    Made Bayu Nugraha Putra

"No installed app can open this type of file" also, the files which I have been uploaded is gone after I switch app

  34. guest-avatar

    Owen Kilpatrick

Still a good and useful app, but taking the direct to SD away is irritating.

  35. guest-avatar

For me it says 'Portal Needs Wifi Enable to transfer files'.. i havr my laptop connected to my hotspot

  36. guest-avatar

It's not working,it just says it needs WiFi enabled and nothing happens later on !

  37. guest-avatar

Works. But now REQUIRES location permission... worst idea ever. Ininstallong

  38. guest-avatar

Useful to make fast transfers for edited photos / videos to post online

  39. guest-avatar

Easy to use, a 6GB file was transferred after few steps

  40. guest-avatar

A brilliant app to replace usb or bluetooth option.well done👏👏

  41. guest-avatar

The new v1.3.1 can NOT save files to removable SD card!

  42. guest-avatar

Doesn't work on Yota 3+. Scanning failure.

Very useful app, instantly transfer files.

  44. guest-avatar

it works great, especially with my new laptop.

  45. guest-avatar

    Fastest, easy and problem free.

  46. guest-avatar

Doesn't allow transfers from Android device to PC

  47. guest-avatar

Cannot upload to SD Card since the update !

  48. guest-avatar

    Tharindu Jayawardhana

Pls update it to work both sides (pc to mobile & mobile to pc). If you do it, this will be the best portal app.

  49. guest-avatar

I really want to send files from mobile to pc not like this if you can develop this feature that would be an epic app Thanks for your effort

  50. guest-avatar

May I transfer from phone to PC/Mac? It only seems to go from browser to phone, not both ways as ShareIt does.

  51. guest-avatar

    Alexander Irving

Really, really simple to use. Thank you very much.

  52. guest-avatar

dosent supports hotspot from phone transfer.

  53. guest-avatar

    Allan Contreras

Just drag and drop, that's it. Can't get any easier than that.

  54. guest-avatar

    priyabrata naskar

Just sort of sd card option missing Overall great

  55. guest-avatar

Fastest way to send to file from Macbook to Phone

  56. guest-avatar

    Slick. Super easy to use.

  57. guest-avatar

It does not send your files on your android phone's micro SD card to your PC. It sends only from your PC to your phone messages etc and nothing more. For serious matter there is no use of this app. Free is a way to entice for its Pro version - if that is able to do such transfer.

  58. guest-avatar

Only works one way sadly, no way to send from phone to pc

  59. guest-avatar

    Deepinder Sandhu

Makes life easy as you can fill the details of files and data to be shuffled in one or the other manner without waiting specifically for the process. With the help of wi files it's easy and fast as it being your personal line it is not clogged and without delay files can be exported and imported. As it is a wi fi portal is meant to be handy andavaianle 24/7 exclusively for performance especially when it comes to exchange of large files.I t helps for recreation on tv gaming and laptops etc.

  60. guest-avatar

    Requires location to function. WHY?

  61. guest-avatar

Best one no ads and simple unlike others

  62. guest-avatar

"No app can open this file" that's the message I get

  63. guest-avatar

    Vladimer Purtskhvanidze

Taped on "scan" to connect but camera was sooooooo terrible that it wasn't able to read QR code in my pc... Reinstalled it again, thought my phone had camera problems but no... It has really awful camera that won't allow u to read code

  64. guest-avatar

    Absolutely amazing. It. Just. Works.

  65. guest-avatar

Used to be an incredible app. Hasn't been able to connect for the last week. Absolutely useless and frustrating now.

  66. guest-avatar

Version 1.3.2 doesn't have the option to access external SD card (Android 9). Please fix it. This app is a must have.

  67. guest-avatar

Eventhough i enable wifi it keeps saying that wifi is disabled. Couldn't make it work a single time. Uninstalling.

  68. guest-avatar

good and easy to use app

  69. guest-avatar

    Its fast and simple.

  70. guest-avatar

Simply transfer ur files. No bloat. Best.

  71. guest-avatar

This app has always worked for me and I've been using it for over a year. It's fast and is really easy to use, especially since I send a lot of stuff from my laptop to my phone. However, I've been unable to find a lot of the files on my phone once I've transferred them via Portal. I've tried multiple times, refreshed the page, deleted and reinstalled the app but I haven't been able to find them. :( I really hope this gets fixed.

  72. guest-avatar

What a stupid software. It only allows transfer from pc to phone. If you want to download files on phone to pc, you're out of luck

  73. guest-avatar

    Martin Brilliant

Maybe it works for single files. I have a folder of folders of folders of files, 400 items in all, and I don't want to transfer them one at a time. Portal transferred mostly empty folders, with one small file or one empty folder in some of them. It transferred them to the Portal folder in internal storage. I couldn't set it to transfer anywhere else, because it kept cycling between "show SD card/hide file size" and "Recent/Internal storage/SD card" without responding to my touch. Useless.

  74. guest-avatar

    Ashif Chowdhury

Portal allows you to easily transfer files from any web browser to your phone. The app is really well made and has ease of use features such as auto organising music and pictures into appropriate folders. Pairing the browser to your phone is done via scanning a QR code and there is no log in required. Overall i am delighted with the app and don't think I'll switch to any other app for this purpose any time soon!

  75. guest-avatar

Used the app to transfer some music. My Pixel XL allows me to copy files onto my PC (I can see and read files) but I cannot move files onto my PC. I already use pushbullet and I have been using it for a long time. Found this lovely app and I was able to transfer over 10gb of music within a couple minutes. Very lovely! Simple, quick and reliable. I'll be using this for the foreseeable future.

  76. guest-avatar

Finally! After wasting hours trying to connect my two Huawei Androids to my Mac, I got the tip about Portal. All at once, everything was dead simple, fast and dependable. Several hundred megs transferred in less than a minute, and I can select where they should be stored. Kudos and thanks! You solved a real problem for me.

  77. guest-avatar

This app is AMAZING. Amazing transfer speeds, incredibly simple, clean & straight forward interface, super smart placement of files (automagically sends music files along to my Music folder, I assume it does the same for video files & the video folder) and, best of all for me personally and what makes me absolutely psyched to have found this app - I DON'T HAVE TO DISCONNECT MY VPN TO USE IT! Every other app I've tried has thrown a fit over both my phone & my PC being connected to VPN servers.

  78. guest-avatar

Great app, work as intended. The only downside is that you have to transfer it first to the internal storage, then move to the SD

  79. guest-avatar

Transferred a lot of big files to my tablet taking several hours. As soon as transfer finished the files disappeared from my tablet!!! Complete waste of my time.

  80. guest-avatar

Absolutely useless! I connect my phone to my macbook through Portal, drag the files over, watch the transfer process, and when that's done, I've got nothing. Portal on my phone says I have no files and they are correct. I don't know where the files transferred to, but it sure wasn't my phone. Like a dummy, I tried it twice. Same result. I'm beginning to think Portal is a scam to steal your videos.

  81. guest-avatar

It needs a resume file option with retry button. My old router keeps freezing when trying this kind of connection. Thanks.

  82. guest-avatar

    Leonard D'Mello

Says my mobile dosent have an app installed to open jpegs and png...seriously

  83. guest-avatar

Along with this app's companion Pushbullet, I have used Portal so many times that now i take it for granted. I move a lot of media between my computers and my phone, and especially between my macbook and my android it is much easier to use Portal and a good android file manager than it is to physically plug my droid into my mac. For my purposes at least, this app does exactly what i hoped it would.

  84. guest-avatar

Excellent app, very easy to use, but only transfers files in one direction, from computer to Android phone. Also it's a little tricky moving files from the Portal folder to other folders on Android. When it can transfer in both directions, and has internal file moving capability, it will get 10 stars!!!

  85. guest-avatar

App works quickly and wonderfully. The only issue I have would be the fact that for a visually impaired user, the only way to connect is to just wave your phone in front of your monitor and hope that it works. If this is ever fixed, 5 stars for sure.

  86. guest-avatar

    Randall Richardson

Great App when it's working , but often it failes and getting assistants from the developer is a dead end! constant problems with the App not mirroring the notifications. the only resolve has been to reinstall it, to bad the developer doesn"t have open line of communication with the clients!!

  87. guest-avatar

I have tried a number of apps to transfer thousands of songs from my Mac to my phone. All, except Portal, crashed or stopped working after transferring a couple of hundred songs. Portal is the only app that could finish the job.

  88. guest-avatar

Funny it is not mobile to mobile transfer app it is not even mobile to pc both side app it's one-way app means u can only send computer files to mobile and can not view or receive any mobile files to computer...complete waste apo made by avdumb developet!!👎👎Not only that now I realeseit uses internet without net it never works.

  89. guest-avatar

    barry fitzgerald

I was searching for an app that would be quick and easy. And portal does the job fantastic. No fussing no messing. And for somebody like me who is not very tech-savvy this is absolutely the way to go 10 out of 10!.

  90. guest-avatar

Simple and easy to use. That said, it only transfers from pc to phone, not vice versa. Looking for a new feature? It probably won't be for a while considering the last update was 2 years ago.

  91. guest-avatar

No longer gives you the option to change to SD Card, can you explain why?

  92. guest-avatar

    Easy to learn limited funtions

  93. guest-avatar

First they dont have mind. They made the apps in 2018 only able to send from pc to android. What about android to pc? This made me angry and i didnt tale time to uninstal this apps. AirDroid is much better fastest to transfer file from pc to android and vice versa

  94. guest-avatar

It's nice, fast and extremely easy to use, it's way faster than USB 3.1, you transfer files through internet. I used it at home on my LAN, my phone was connected via wifi and my PC had a wired connection.

  95. guest-avatar

    Avinesh Benjamin

Not sure what the issue is but seems to struggle a bit in transferring files i am having frequent failures and large files are taking far too much time then they did before not sure what the issue is it a phone update r change of hotspot device.

  96. guest-avatar

Fails to upload random files, seemingly but not consistently files with Japanese text; no option to retry essentially makes this app useless for transferring multiple files at a time. Complete waste of time in that regard.

  97. guest-avatar

Useless if you dont have any wifi connection both phones will not respond to each other

  98. guest-avatar

I have like 3 or 4 things plugged to my laptop all the time; Portal saves me the hassle of having to give up usage of something to send small files that do not warrant GDrive or other clouds

  99. guest-avatar

Needing location permission is not OK!

  100. guest-avatar

    Prevan Subrayen

Great app, only issue is it doesn't allow more than 1 file from different locations. All files have to be in one folder. Even so this is the best app I have seen out there that can do this.
