requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

pair with Bluetooth devices
Allows the app to view the configuration of the Bluetooth on the phone, and to make and accept connections with paired devices.

access Bluetooth settings
Allows the app to configure the local Bluetooth phone, and to discover and pair with remote devices.

send sticky broadcast
Allows the app to send sticky broadcasts, which remain after the broadcast ends. Excessive use may make the phone slow or unstable by causing it to use too much memory.

allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your phone. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

disable your screen lock
Allows the app to disable the keylock and any associated password security. For example, the phone disables the keylock when receiving an incoming phone call, then re-enables the keylock when the call is finished.

expand/collapse status bar
Allows the app to expand or collapse the status bar.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

retrieve running apps
Allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks. This may allow the app to discover information about which applications are used on the device.

full license to interact across users
Allows all possible interactions across users.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

close other apps
Allows the app to end background processes of other apps. This may cause other apps to stop running.

control Near Field Communication
Allows the app to communicate with Near Field Communication (NFC) tags, cards, and readers.

read the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to read the contents of your SD card.

read sensitive log data
Allows the app to read from the system's various log files. This allows it to discover general information about what you are doing with the phone, potentially including personal or private information.

draw over other apps
Allows the app to draw on top of other applications or parts of the user interface. They may interfere with your use of the interface in any application, or change what you think you are seeing in other applications.

control vibration
Allows the app to control the vibrator.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

modify or delete the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to write to the SD card.

modify system settings
Allows the app to modify the system's settings data. Malicious apps may corrupt your system's configuration.

Completely broken on Android (I have a pixel 2) and won't even open most of the time. Am trying to use with the MS650 soundbar. Takes the 'smart' out of smart speaker. Edit (2020/05/01) - suddenly has started working again. Which is promising although I see it's stopped working for a bunch of other people.

App is not compatible. I purchased two Samsung Vl350 speakers and a ms650 sound bar with the prospect of grouping them for surround sound via this app. Even official Samsung literature say that they are compatible with this app and this feature can be utilised. After waiting months for this app even to update, the app fails to recognise all the speakers in the setup and grouping is non existent with the 'latest' Samsung multiroom speakers. Even Samsung smartthings fails in accomplishing this.

Samsung updated this app after a year of no updates. The app supports Android 10 now but somehow there's a lot of people complaining that it isn't working anymore to link up their wifi speakers using other Android versions (including me.) I'm stuck as a lot of people. Samsung hasn't resolved anything, nor follow ups, nor software updates, nor answers.

This app no longer works on my pixel XL. It's worked fine for the last 2 years, but I'm not sure why it's no longer works. Every time I fire the app up it crashes immediately, over and over. I'm running Android 10. I restarted my phone, uninstalled the app and reinstalled. Nothing seems to resolve this issue. Please advise asap. UPDATE 02292020: changing from ⭐⭐ to 3 as the long awaited update (2 months or more?) finally resolved the issue with the app crashing and not running at all! Thanks

Shocking connectivity issues. Spend over an hour connecting a speaker only for it to last 2 minutes before it disconnects AGAIN. Only way to connect it is with my other halfs iPhone!!! This is a Samsung system, so why cant I connect the speakers using a samsung phone or tablet?! Do not buy Samsung speakers. They're awful

  6. Eric Humes-avatar

Cannot search without the application crashing. It is also designed as an iPhone application, even though it is on Android. Who wants to tap the top left of your screen to go back? Phones are giant now. I cannot easily reach there with one hand.

Great app, my HW650 sound bar works a treat. Great features like the customising EQ is an added bonus. Hope it works equally good once I've added the R3's to make it a 5.1 surround system. Update March 2020 Group function for streaming music is great, the sound is fantastic, love it. The surround set up is disappointing, the surround speakers are very faint, even if you put the soundbar on min and the R3's on max in the app the overall sound is not balanced.

  8. Stephen Psallidas-avatar

This app was unusable for 6 frustrating months after Android 10 was issued. Now updated, the 2020 version is as good as the old - a simple, clean, functional app that integrates multiple streaming services plus DLNA from your local server, playlists etc. They've even fixed the infuriating 'feature' which played all tracks in alphabetical order, not album order! The only remaining niggle is how slow DLNA track lists populate - but that's probably DLNA's fault not the app's! Overall nice app!

  9. Will Kaufman-avatar

    Will Kaufman

Deeply buggy, mediocre interface, and slow to respond. This app is an exercise in frustration, which is a shame because my Samsung sound bar is great. Recently the integrated apps like Pandora and SXM have stopped loading, as well. Seems like something is always going wrong.

  10. Joakim Bergdal-avatar

    Joakim Bergdal

Just bought the MS-HW660. Added the soundbar in this app, but the soundbar disappears every day, and I have to reconnect it every time. Also Spotify connect only works sometimes. Soundbar appears, next day it's not there as an option in Spotify. Really need a firmware update to this soundbar or some fixing in the app.

UPDATE 3/29)20 OK. I love Samsung again They finally updated the app for Android 10. I can listen to my music again. It has such a good sound. I was loathe to part with it. I'm glad I have Samsung the benefit of the doubt when my Google pixel 2 updated. Uninstall your old app, reinstall the updated version. It works like a dream now

  12. Eric Franklin-avatar

Samsung hasn't updated their app - Google updated Android, so the app sorta works. Sometimes. It's slow and unstable. Some of the services (Amazon Music, for example) crash the app rather than working. As my wife said, "They're lucky that speaker sounds so good."

  13. Sam Clements-avatar

    Sam Clements

Worked for a while. Now crashes every time you search. Widgets crash. Deezer support lacking and features very hard to navigate compared to native deezer app. Forced to use this app as have Samsung speakers through house

  14. Jason Hatch-avatar

    Jason Hatch

Until the last update, the app crashed a lot and I'd sporadically lose speakers from groups. The latest update seems to have fixed those problems. I'm tentatively giving four stars until I've tested it out further, but if they've finally fixed this, I will give five stars.

  15. Martin Sherrard-avatar

Why can't it work on ethernet alone? I have two speakers connected via ethernet, but it can only find one because you can only add a speaker using wi-fi. Stupid.

  16. Cristiano Ghirardi-avatar

    Cristiano Ghirardi

Doesn't connect to my MS550 most of the time. I don't know if it is the sound bar or the application or both but most of the time I can't see the sound bar. The suggestion to restart the router is just dumb.

Awful. 4 hours spent trying to connect the speakers. 1 in particular always drops off. Downloaded app onto an iPhone and it worked inside 3 minutes. THESE ARE SAMSUNG SPEAKERS!!!! WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO USE AN IPHONE TO CONNECT???? Not a great advert for Samsung connectivity. If anything it's an advert to go and buy iPhone kit!!! SORT IT OUT!

Useless. App doesn't even open, so I wouldn't know how it works. An app that doesn't even open or load, can only get one star, and when this app is a sellingpoint for the speakers I have, well... May revise at a later date, if the very apparent issues are fixed, and I actually get to try to use the app...

  62. Thomas Licari-avatar

As of 02/21/20 this app is still not compatible with Android 10. I have multiple Samsung speakers that I can no longer connect and can no longer setup surround sound on. Samsung provides zero support. They said they would update the app when their own phones start to utilize Android 10. This has happened, still no update to this app. It was a poor excuse to start with and only more sad now that their own upgraded Android 10 phones can't utilize this app.

  63. Toni Pakkanen-avatar

Ok, Android 10 has been out ages, still this app crash on start, only workaround is: deny permissions for file access in permission settings, select no permissions and do not ask again on next start. Then on next ok to open permission page give permissions to files and jump back to app.. and it works, untill next time and do the same again. So basicly, app has problems to handle permissions.. and no fix in months. I have stopped spending any dime on Samsung products...

I along with a lot of others can no longer use this app due to Samsung's lack of updating for Android 10. This is completely unacceptable. Very poor customer service regarding this issue. I can't believe how long this has been going on, I mistakenly thought Samsung were technologically advanced in the market. Obviously not!

  66. Daníel Sigurðsson-avatar

This app stopped working one day. It's stuck at startup screen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the problem persisted. I'm using a Samsung phone to connect to a Samsung speaker via a Samsung app made specifically for that speaker and it doesn't work?! This is ridiculous!

  67. James Patterson-avatar

    James Patterson

This use to be a really great app to use. I upgraded to a Pixel 4 since doing so the app doesn't load. As soon as I tap on the muliroom app it forces closes then sends a error report. I have tried installing the app on a different Google Pixel since and still the same error. Samsung you need to make the app compatible.

  68. Mait Jüriado-avatar

    Mait Jüriado

The app just doesnt work anymore and if it did, I had to do stereo setup all the time all over again. My M5 speakers are becoming useless and this really pisses me off. Make a thing what I can use 30 years from now, not 3.

  69. andy andraos-avatar

App stopped working few days ago. Doesnt do anything. I have new Samsung TV, phone and soundbar yet it does not work. You can't listen to music on the music apps in the multiroom because they don't load. Reached out to Samsung and the put the blame on Google. Very annoying 😡

  70. Epzzz-avatar

Buying your most expensive soundbar, need to access settings which is only available through your app, and you don't even bother updating it alongside system updates. This is trash samsung! I've never had a Samsung product that didn't break in one way or another, never again!

  71. Kyle Bourne-avatar

    Kyle Bourne

Useless! Was suggested by the mods on the Samsung forum to use this app with my hw-n850 soundbar and it's not even compatible. It would be nice if the mods knew about the products they talk about. And it would be nice for the devs to built such an easy function into their top of the line products

  72. Danielle Miller-avatar

    Danielle Miller

10/13/19 I didn't have issues with the app till I upgraded Android. Now I can't even open the app and it crashes. Seems from reading other reviewers this is a common problem. I, like multiple others with this issue, have a pixel (2). This greatly reduces the functionality of my speaker, and if it's not fixed in a timely manner will negatively influence my decision to purchase future Samsung sound system products. Update 2/2/20: STILL NO FIX!

  73. Zack Hickman-avatar

    Zack Hickman

We've been using our Samsung speakers for a few years now and have REALLY enjoyed them. However, since October, the app has not been loading fully which is preventing us from playing music through the speakers- beyond disappointed the app has not been fixed and dosen't appear to have any intention on being fixed. Based on articles I've read, this is due to a recent Android update.... what a shame Samsung. Apple next?

I enjoy the sound quality of my Samsung speakers so much, that I have been willing to overlook some of the app flaws and connectivity issues. I have recently upgraded my phone and the Samsung multi room app just doesn't work at all. It crashes on load everytime. What a shame! I am not going to wait on Samsung to fix this. It is apparent that they do not care. I will be shopping for something else.

  76. Javier Añino-avatar

Definitely a failure from Samsung. When you want to use several speakers with WiFi connection simply doesn't work... the group disappear while watching TV and when you manually create it again it will fail again after a while... so completely useless for multispeakers application. I tried everything and Samsung didn't find a solution for it after these items have been for years in the market. Unbelievable.

  77. Dirk Thompson-avatar

I don't know what happened if there was an update or what but this app keeps crashing on my pixel phone. It makes my speaker useless I have used this app for over three years and now it is demanding that I turn on location. I do not want to turn on location. It uses too much battery. Plus it's no business of yours what my location is and there's no functionality that requires this. Your app is now sucking

  78. Brad Miller-avatar

    Brad Miller

This app breaks every time Android is upgraded to a new version and doesn't get updated quickly enough to be of any use except for brief and infrequent periods of time. Also, it really doesn't do anything the remote can't do, except maybe a little easier. Although, the remote is garbage and started falling apart within the first 2 years with careful use, so 🤷‍♂️.

  81. Rubin Bennett-avatar

I've been forced to amend my review, because the update pace for this application is miserable. For well over a month now I've had completely useless speakers because Samsung hasn't updated the app since December 2018. In September we updated our mobile phones to Android 10, and the Multiroom app doesn't even launch anymore. There are many threads about this issue, met with total radio silence from Samsung, which is as frustrating as the fact that the application isn't working.

  82. Yan Holland-avatar

    Yan Holland

Doesn't work with Android 10. Usual Samsung rubbish, they can't be bothered to update it so it crashes as soon as it opens. Their hardware is pretty good but the ongoing software support either via firmware or software is terrible and this is a case in point. Can't use their new Smart things app as my 2 year old soundbar isn't listed - another example of their superb customer service and support. Won't be buying anything they make again.

  83. Caroline McGinlay-avatar

I bought 3 Samsung speakers with the intention of using them over wifi throughout my house. Since I bought them I've had problems getting the app to either find the speakers or group them (and remain grouped). I'm so disappointed with this. The speakers on their own are great as standalone over bluetooth but the minute the multiroom app gets involved they become next to useless. Unless this gets fixed, I'll choose an alternative manufacturer next time.

  84. A Google user-avatar

Editing my review. Terrible terrible terrible. Can it use the app anymore on my pixel 3 it crashes every single time. This renders my 5 speakers completely useless as a group. The app function wasn't great in the first place, problems connecting and grouping speakers etc but now it is completely defunct and it's the only way to group them. Sort it out Samsung. How can a global company create such a useless app and then fail to fix the issues?

  85. Alan Fishbein-avatar

App doesn't open anymore on Google pixel2xl in Android ,10. Getting run around between Samsung and Google. Google and Samsung have to figure this out. Nobody can buy a Samsung wireless speaker if this app doesn't work.. please contact samsung customer service directly to make sure they know this is a multiuser issuer and to work on the patch sooner rather than later. I did so today. update: called samsung again to get an update. they bounced me around to 5 different departments. nobody over there appears to take responsibility for this app.. samsung sucks a big one.

FIX for those with a crashing app after Android 10 update! I found out elsewhere that the old version of this app (3.2 19 with the blue icon) works with Android 10. The Play Store does not allow you to download it on newer devices/OS systems, so you must sideload it from a different source; I used the Aptoide site. I can once again control my speakers using my Pixel 3A running Android 10. It's ridiculous that Samsung hasn't addressed this problem yet, but hopefully this info helps some of you.

Does not work with Android 10. Simple, do not buy Samsung products because they do not give a hoot afterwards. Products and apps that do not receive updates are useless. I've spent hundreds of pounds on a Samsung soundbar that I can no longer control from the app due to Samsung's inability to offer support and updates. Useless junk.

Shuts down instantly. Across multiple devices I have had a spotty time with this and its making my speakers obsolete. Probably put me off Samsung Speakers for good as they aren't worth buying if I can't use them 3 years down the line

Basically useless at this point, can't play playlists from deezer anymore(which is all I use it for), get an error "internal server error" on any playlist created from a certain point. Works fine in the deezer app though. If anyone from samsung cares enough to try and fix it there is a great deal of information on the deezer support forum but understandably they're struggling to fix the issue as it's your app at fault. Original review Not bad, the integration with deezer is a bit ropey

Very bad action from such a big company, right up to this time this app havent been updated hence making my 6 samsung 360 multi room speakers useless....spoken to one advisor and was told not sure when it will be updated. Until then my speakers will be sitting in the attic. Come on samsung!

App is completely non-functional after Android 10 update. I've updated the app twice with two different approaches to accepting permissions. Nothing works. It crashes immediately on pixel 2. Hopefully I have an old Android device that still works, otherwise these speakers are now almost useless. Fix your app Samsung!!!

I love the function but can become glitchy when setting up my 360 speakers sometimes. other than that its great! Update: I cant get the wireless to work. (R3) Without that I can only listen to 1 at a time which defeats my purpose for buying them. Not sure what else to do.

App does not work on Android 10, which bricked my speakers. Developer Contact Email is no longer valid. I did a chat with Samsung Pro Wasim at Samsung customer support. He committed to getting the details to the dedicated team. But this was first reported in the Android store over 2 months ago. And Samsung's telemetry must be passing them crash logs, so they know...

Really?! Soundbar and surround is now USELESS/Not Working because I'm on Android 10 and had to reconfigure my wireless. So now I have to buy an iOS to reconfigure? It's not like this setup is super old.

Samsung, just to make good hardware is not good enough, It should be supported by the good software and your app sucks specifically when grouping the speakers. I have 4 m7 and can not use them in group all the time reliably.

This app has been crashing for several weeks now when I try to run it on my Pixel3XL. Unusable. Prior to that, it would often lose connection to my speaker. Not sure if a software or hardware issue. I love the idea but execution is terrible.

This app worked for a while, but stopped working recently, maybe because of an Android system update. I cannot even open the app anymore without it crashing. There doesn't appear to be any updates on Google play or the Samsung website to fix the problem.

The app and speakers are great when they actually work, but there are constant connectivity and stability issues. The speakers are always dropping out and the app frequently crashes. The shuffle function leaves a lot to be desired too...

Crashes since the late Jan 2020 Android system update. It had worked for years for our 3 speakers to play synchronously. I miss my music. Help is needed!!
