Morse Mania is a fun educational game that helps you master the Morse code while advancing through a number of exciting levels, teaching several new letters at a time.

The app starts with the easiest letters (E and T), moving to more complicated ones, comprised of more sound tokens. Once you master all the letters, it teaches you numbers and other characters.

- 20 regular levels teaching you 40 symbols: letters A-Z, numbers and several other common symbols.
- 8 challenge levels, ensuring you master all letters and symbols.
- Hints (for free!) when you need help.
- Explore mode if you want to hear the symbols before starting to learn them.
- Customizable sound frequency: 400 to 1000 Hz.
- Adjustable speed: from 5 to 45 WPM (words per minute). Less than 20 is not recommended though, as it doesn't help you to actually learn the language.
- Ability to jump to the past levels to revise, or skip some if you're already familiar with certain characters.

Finally, a "stage 1" (characters) Morse tutor that Works for me. It introduces them sequentially, two characters at a time, until you have the whole set. It pushes your recollection constantly, encouraging quick thinking, yet is patient. You naturally get faster, at your own rate. This avoids the frustration of getting overrun with a barrage of characters. The only thing you need coming in is familiarity with qwerty layout. I have made huge progress in just one day.

  2. guest-avatar

The app has a simple, effective and very well built design. I enjoy using it immensely. Sadly there is only a mode for learning of the letters, and no practice mode that includes full words or sentences. That shouldn't be too hard to implement! Please add this feature, it would make the app experience perfect.

  3. guest-avatar

Good game, but disappointingly short. The game only teaches the basic alphabet, numbers, and some punctuation. It only quizzes you on one letter at a time, so you won't have a chance to learn the difference between "ace" and "anti". To summarize, it's a good game for learning the basics of International Morse Code, but never steps beyond those basics.

  4. guest-avatar

A very useful way of reintroducing myself to receiving Morse code. The Morse itself is quite crisp and I have no issues with the spacing, pitch or speed...although I believe I can alter the latter two anyway. I do find it harder to search for the required letter to tap then if I were just writing it down, it's an extra thing for your brain to have to do, but I suppose this is not a bad thing as I will probably find it easier when the pencil in my hand just does the work. A great app, thank you.

I love it! I only give it a 4 star rating because it doesn't remember the settings I left it on last. The settings are set, but it actually reverts to the default unless you put the settings in again. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience. I was only an intermediate in morse code, but I worked my way all the way up to the fastest wpm. It would be cool to see maybe some minigames incorporated in the future maybe as well as tracking your stats.

  6. guest-avatar

Great app, and it is a great way to learn morse code (at least, it fits in well with the way I learn best), but with some letters there is an off-putting click at the end of the recording that makes it slightly more difficult to distinguish what the letter is. It seems like this could be a quick fix that would polish up the experience of using this app a bit. Overall a positive review however 👌

  7. guest-avatar

Surprisingly fast and easy way to learn to recognize Morse code letters. It only lets you train recognition, not coding, and only letter by letter at pretty much your own pace, not full words or sentences coming at speed. But that's not a big deal given how rarely Morse code is actually used that way nowadays. For learning just for the sake of learning, it's great.

The app is great: it manages to teach the different characters in a simple yet organized manner (similar sounds are presented and contrasted right away, which helps avoid confusion later on). It's simple but nice. Now to practice listening to words and phrases. - .... .- -.- ... .-.-.-

Great app, simple and easy UI. My one complaint is that sometimes the short blips cut out a bit so it's hard to tell how many blips there are. An N sounds like it might be a T or an S might be an I. It's frustrating when that is the most important part of the app!

  10. guest-avatar

Most enjoyable game while you are learning. Well done folks. This really helped me to learn without learning. When you're playing a game your playing the game to win. In order to win you need to kearn. It was fun and now I know Morse code. The fact that the keyboard is displayed with ..__ under each letter is really great. You can brush up on the sounds of problem letters before a challenge. Well designed. Thank you

Great app! Does what it should do! Only problems are: clicking noise in some letters, unrecognizable tone in headphones. But all that doesn't matter because of nice design, great idea and implementation. I recommend this app to everyone who wishes to learn the Morse code!

  12. guest-avatar

Enjoyed the game approach to learning and the way it progresses you through the levels! I do wish it would start to put letters together. While I hear them individually it's hard to get them in words. That would be an excellent addition to this app!

This game is so simple, you learn morse code. Its fun to learn, the steps are easy and in the end you really feel like you can do morse code well. The options are really nice for people that are faster or slower in learning. Overall i had a great time and now know morse code

  14. guest-avatar

I think this is a great way to learn the letters and symbols. You would get 1 more star if you added word and phrase drills. Just being able to recognize letters and symbols is only part of morse code. What you have is well done and I recommend it!

By far, this app is better than any other app I've used for the benefit of learning Morse Code. I have Morse Code learning CDs, of which I occasionally listen to during my commute, and some nice, vintage vinyl records with Morse Code courses, but this app teaches in "real time" and at one's own pace. Finally, a realistic and fun way to learn Morse! Love it!

  16. guest-avatar

I really like this game/learning tool. This app is the best I've found to help ingrain Morse code into my memory. I used this app mostly to help me increase my speed and accuracy of recognizing the sound pattern of each letter. It also really helped me to quickly learn new characters. Now I continue to use it for practice and increase in speed of recognition.

  17. guest-avatar

This app is fantastic for learning Morse code. I love the sleek design and the simplicity. However I couldn't give 5 stars because of the bug that cuts out the first part of the sound when using BT headphones. The worst part was that the app punishes you for taking longer to answer or for repeating the sound, but due to the bug I had to repeat every time. App could also use other features like testing full words. Overall it helped with the basics but I had to seek other apps to keep practicing.

  18. guest-avatar

I really like the adaptive completion time for levels: if you are screwing up some characters then the level lasts longer to give you more practice with the problem ones. The settings menu allowing changing WPM, tone, volume, etc is great. The ability to skip levels is fantastic. A few things that would make this even better: 1) flashing light option 2) groups of characters (to simulate call signs and such) customize character set and group length. 3) Recall speed settings between sessions.

  19. guest-avatar

I just downloaded this app and having a lot of fun, its a cool way to learn a useful skill while just playing a game. Biggest issue is not wanting to use sound. Would be cool if there was a vibration pattern or visual (light flashing) option to practice where you cant use sound/earbuds or for deaf people. Flashing woud also be useful as it's used in real life. Other suggestions are to have a dark theme or let user choose colors, and maybe (in future) game modes like translating words. Thanks

  20. guest-avatar

Really cool app!! A suggestion would be to shuffle the keyboard every few levels (or have the option to) so you're learning the letter and not just memorizing the placement, other than that I'd say it's perfect!

  21. guest-avatar

    Jeremiah Murphy

Very crisp app. I like the level slider in the settings for review or to skip ahead. My only concern is that maybe I'll associate the Morse codes to keyboard positions rather than legit letters. I wonder if keyboard/entry randomization would be a helpful option. (I'm only on lvl 7, so forgive me if you actually do do that in later levels.) Good work!

  22. guest-avatar

I have always had a fascination for Morse code but assumed it too complex to learn and never bothered. Using this app, after only 20mins or so, I am able to recognise (aka have learnt) 10 letters in Morse (code?). The method of instruction is incredibly simple, the execution is excellent and the UI is professional yet friendly looking. Highly recommended, 11/10!

  23. guest-avatar

Amazingly intuitive and easy I never knew that learning morse could be so easy. Within minutes in this game, I learnt a dozen letters of the alphabet in morse and it is so intuitive to learn! I would like a new option or addition, to have the same game mechanics but not with sounds but a light coming on/off for those who cannot listen. I have been interested in learning by pure cc curiousity after having watched the movie "Parasite" by Bong Joon-ho where there is morse code involved.

  24. guest-avatar

Very awesome app!! I used to only know written morse code and this app has helped me A TON ❤in enhancing my capabilities to hear morse code, i would always get confused and -- --- .-. ... . --- .- -. .. .- has helped me practice in a more in depth way!!!❤❤❤❤

  25. guest-avatar

Its amazing! I've been trying to learn Morse for quite a while now, and this app improved my progress more in a storter time period. It really feels like ive been learning and doing revision at the same time. Good job! Maybe you can add Morse-to-alphabet practice next, like have a word or phrase that we type in Morse.

  26. guest-avatar

EXELLENT. I was looking for an app where i could learn Sound to Letter training. Most apps teach the symbol (.-..) to letter. I like the customization of the beep sound because my ears dont like high pitch noises so its nice to choose the hertz. You can also tweak the speed but suggests to learn at the default speed which is better in the long run. And one last aspect that it has no ads so far So all is positive and that deserves 5 stars.

  27. guest-avatar

It's a pretty good app, but I think something more resembling a lesson plan would be nice. I would prefer focusing on the new letters instead of harping on the entire alphabet every week of the way. Do chunks, not the entire stack. Then do reviews regularly. I don't need to review e t a m and I when learning 7 8 9 and 0.

  28. guest-avatar

    Pierre-Louis Sauvage

I've been experiencing a very annoying bug: for some letters the beginning of the sound is cut off, forcing me to press manually the listen button to make sure the correct sequence has been played. Is there a way to fix it? Edited because of fast dev answer, I'll try with wired earbuds next time. Thanks for the app!

  29. guest-avatar

extremely cool. been wanting to learn morse code since I was a kid. way more fun & easy to tackle via app than duolingo & foreign languages for sure ∑d(°∀°d) I wish the sounds were slightly less grating tho... idk maybe that's just what happens when you listen to beeping long enough lol

  30. guest-avatar

    Darren Johnston

Fantastic app, losses one star because the WPM gets forgotten if you exit the app and return. It appears to still be set in the settings menu, but the actual Morse is played at the default 20WPM unless you go into the settings and move it around then back to the desired speed.

  31. guest-avatar

This is the best way to learn the characters. Then move on from here to get faster. This app does not provide a string of characters. You must respond to each character before receiving another.

  32. guest-avatar

Pretty fun while learning a useless skill! I caught on faster than I expected. I beat the game in a day but I'll probably pull it out to keep up the knowledge. Who knows, it could be useful one day. At least I have an interesting fact to tell about myself during group introductions.

  33. guest-avatar

BEST! Better if there's an option to revise the previous level before moving on to the next level Edit: Awesome! Thanks for the prompt response! I'm looking forward to it!

  34. guest-avatar

After a few wrong answers the sound cuts out and it doesn't play any dits or dahs at all. I'm not sure why this happens but I'm using Bluetooth headphones. The sound doesn't come back until after closing the app entirely and restarting the level. Otherwise I've wanted to learn Morse code for a while and this seems like a cool way to jump in.

  35. guest-avatar

I've never looked at morse code, but find it really satisfying to remember patterns I thought would be impossible. The app looks good too.

  36. guest-avatar

An incredible way to learn Morse code efficiently. Personally, having never learned it due to perceiving it as a daunting task, I can safely say I now understand it thanks to this excellent app.

  37. guest-avatar

Should warn if media volume low (or just display volume); mine was mute on first play, confusingly. Same problem for Do Not Disturb. Otherwise, it Just Works.

This game is great if you ever want to learn Morse code. It gradually adds more challenging letters and I find it really entertaining. I would always go up to a friend to they could quiz me in what I know. This game is great 10/10 would recommend this game to anyone

  39. guest-avatar

My favorite app for learning Morse code! The entire app is just quizzing the user, starting off with the easiest and gradually getting harder until all are memorized. But it's truly the best way I've seen to learn Morse code.

  40. guest-avatar

    Sanchita Golder

absolutely delightful! it is so easy, and really reigns in with repetition and testing, with gradual building of "concepts". perfect teacher. love it!!!! hope to learn the whole code in a week of relaxed use

  41. guest-avatar

Great app, but I wish there was a feature that let you practice what each letter was in writen form for when someone is not in a position to use sound.

  42. guest-avatar

    Saurabh Kulkarni

Really fun, customizable, educative. It is free and has no ads. Definitely worth 5 stars. However, plenty of room for improvement. Wish it had a 'light' mode as well, preferably with a blinking dot on the screen because the flashlight uses too much battery and is likely to shorten its own life. More symbols can be added, and more challenges where you have to decode entire sentences/paragraphs. Hope to see the changes in updates. Especially the 'light' mode. :)

  43. guest-avatar

    Mátyás Cziráki

Great to learn the letters. Would be even better if you could try decoding words too. Also there could be a mode where you must enter the morse code.

  44. guest-avatar

I struggled with this game at first, took my time to form word wise patterns and took a long meditation session before each time I played, loved the ad-less-ness and the sooooo humble request to rate that too only after ending the game...

  45. guest-avatar

I've been using it for four days now, about 10 minutes a day and I now know the whole alphabet in morse. (Not fluently though, that will take a bit longer) The app is fun to use and works really well!

  46. guest-avatar

Incredible app especially since it's completely free with no ads. Though a bit confusing at first, it is extremely helpful.

  47. guest-avatar

    Roger Standridge

It's sincerely fabulous. Finished the game in a week flat. Really hits the mark. I've learned that this method is (similar to) the Farnsworth method. Anyway, great job. Without putting to fine a point on it: - "Options" are a bit hidden, I have to use "back" button to find them. Dedicated opts button. - when teaching characters, the char itself is displayed (prompt), otherwise '?', which leads to confusion when learning '?' itself. Maybe prompt characters could be a different color, e.g.

  48. guest-avatar

Very nice tutorial and brush up for those that already know the code and want to improve their speed. It is also a good app for those that want to try an learn the code.

  49. guest-avatar

    Lázaro Villela

App is great! It only misses being able to go back levels without going to settings, and not being able to create a custom exercise, with letters you choose to learn of fixate in your mind.

  50. guest-avatar

I was a complete beginner and I learned all the letters, numbers, and some punctuation in about a week and it was fun. I highly recommend this app. I hope this app is enhanced in the future to include whole words.

  51. guest-avatar

Really useful for learning the sounds but I'd like a feature that enables you to practise once you finish learing, perhaps some messages in Morse code to decipher. Overall really clear and helpful.

  52. guest-avatar

    Karol Stefański

Good. I recommend not rushing, 2-3 levels a day at max and constant reviews. The frequency gets back to 700Hz after restart. Apart from that, it's a brilliant tool.

  53. guest-avatar

This is a great app for getting started with morse code. This app walks you through learning each character with a simple and elegant user experience. Great job!

  54. guest-avatar

This was a great way to learn morse code alphabet and numbers. Wish it would have taken it a step further with common words and phrases. Excellent learning guide though. Well done.

  55. guest-avatar

Everything is flawless, I just wish there were other levels after you learned all characters on the keyboard to put the knowledge into use

  56. guest-avatar

Great! I got the hang of Morse now. It's good as is but I'd like the option of redoing levels while initially learning stuff.

  57. guest-avatar

It's a great game, but I think you could try to add some levels to train the players in listening to sentences in order to let us really know how to use Morse code in our lives. Anyways, I love this game.

  58. guest-avatar

Simple, addictive, no ads. I actually learned every letter, number, and symbol within a couple days because I kept wanting to play the game.

  59. guest-avatar

This does a really good job of introducing Morse to a newbie who wants to learn, like me. Enjoyed this app thoroughly!

  60. guest-avatar

Incredible app, simple and efficient. Learned the morse code in 30 minutes, practiced for a day and got pretty good at it. Well done developers!

  61. guest-avatar

Best for learning morse code! It would been better if there was an option that enables me to be questioned with vibration instead of sound in case I cant use my earbuds in public.

  62. guest-avatar

    Lynnette Farías Díaz de León

Excellent app and I can't believe it's totally free and has no ads!! It really gets you learning I can't believe how efficient it is. I'm in love.

  63. guest-avatar

Great app! Hopefully there will be a mode that uses on/off lights instead of sound, as well as a link to donate in the about tab because I would love buy nice devs some coffee :)

  64. guest-avatar

    Christopher Bosse

Easy and enjoyable. Good feeling of progress. Got me further than other apps and programs I've tried. Thank you for this nice app!

  65. guest-avatar

Great for learning the code at appropriate speeds! Probably the best I have seen for this purpose... My only wish... Add words.

  66. guest-avatar

Makes it very easy to pick up morse. I've tried to learn before and this app worked better than anything else I've tried.

  67. guest-avatar

    Scott Baumgartner

Learned it all in a week, easy to use and zero permissions required. Highly recommended!

  68. guest-avatar

Great way to learn how to understand Morse Code! I do hope there were more level where you have to translate words.

  69. guest-avatar

Excellent for learning to transcribe Morse code by listening. I'd love to see the ability to practice keying as well. This app was clearly built with care and passion rather than as a vehicle for delivering ads and making a quick buck. A true gem.

  70. guest-avatar

Simple yet addicting!! It made morse code easy. We haven't finished the whole alphabet yet, but I hope there will be words or sentences for practice. Thank you developer!

  71. guest-avatar

Such a beauty. No ads, material design, easy accessibility, and easy settings. Could not have asked for anything else.

  72. guest-avatar

It was fun and very helpful, but the thing is that, sometimes the audio is a little weird. It would sound like . in the audio, but when you play the sound again, suddenly it would be .. Then, after you keep pressing the audio button repeatedly, sometimes it would go back to .

  73. guest-avatar

Simple fun game, but could use vibration mode. Only uses sound, and I don't like turning my sound on in the bus or when I'm outside. 5/5 if they add it 🙂✌️

  74. guest-avatar

Made me decently proficient at Morse code in about two hours. Extremely well designed app, simple and effective.

  75. guest-avatar

Really cool app that combines game mechanics with elements of language learning software. Very easy and fun to use!

  76. guest-avatar

Excellent app! Great way to re-learn or learn Morse code.

  77. guest-avatar

Taught me Morse code in three days, no joke. If you could add separate challenges - say, for numbers - or repeat or review previous challenges, it would be useful I think.

  78. guest-avatar

The words per minute setting doesnt seem to carry over to the actual game. It would be nice to be able to use the system keyboard (for hardware keyboard or something one may be more used to). Otherwise this seems like a decent application.

  79. guest-avatar

This app is awesome! I really like it and I learned so fast Morse code!!

  80. guest-avatar

Great app! Very clean and easy to use, and no ads. Thank you!

  81. guest-avatar

Thank you for this very nice app, i installed it 3 days ago and just finished the game now, very challenging and fun. You deserve a 5 star from me. Thank you again.

  82. guest-avatar

Fun,easy, best part? No adds! This game is almost too good to be true.

  83. guest-avatar

It's not fancy, but it's got good design, settings, and logic. Worked well.

  84. guest-avatar

Like it! Could do with a flashy circle so I can play with the sound off. Thanks

It's just awesome! Nothing extra, no ads, just learning in a fun way Love it

  86. guest-avatar

Super fun and is really helpful! I've always wanted to learn morse code.

  87. guest-avatar

Great app to learn morse code from scratch. No adds. Clean and simple.

  88. guest-avatar

Super clean, well designed app with a perfect approach to teaching a new skill. I like the hint system too! Great way to lower the penalty for forgetting while helping to reinforce the skill.

  89. guest-avatar

    Ariel Moczulewski

Absolutely the best way I know. The only thing is there could be an option to set random frequencies

  90. guest-avatar

Amazing app! A very enjoyable way of learning something new!

  91. guest-avatar

    Why is life so weird?

A completely free game- no ads, no payments- that teaches Morse code easily, step-by-step.

  92. guest-avatar

This was the best app to learn Morse code letters, numbers, and punctuation. Hoping that maybe you can put an app out where people can type words as the are being sent by Morse code. Thank you for the help in learning Morse code.

  93. guest-avatar

Awesome! Would be even better if it could help transition from letter to real words or sentences

  94. guest-avatar

Loved it! It's like a puzzle game but at the same time I'm learning something new

  95. guest-avatar

I learned to read Morse code using this App :-) Very happy. Could be useful to also include the chacter '/', as this is used often during radio communication. Thank you for this great app.

  96. guest-avatar

Very nice! It would be lovely to have short messages to interpret

  97. guest-avatar

This app is AMAZING! It made learning Morse fun and effortless! No exaggeration!

  98. guest-avatar

Wonderful! No bloat, and excellent options (found with back button). It would be great to offer a mode where entire words must be decoded, rather than single random letters.

  99. guest-avatar

It is confusing at the beginning but then you star to catch up. I really love it🖤

  100. guest-avatar

Teaches letters, I wish it had a bit of word recognition or something, or practice transmitting.
