precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

pair with Bluetooth devices
Allows the app to view the configuration of the Bluetooth on the phone, and to make and accept connections with paired devices.

access Bluetooth settings
Allows the app to configure the local Bluetooth phone, and to discover and pair with remote devices.

take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

GET ACCOUNTS
Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

retrieve running apps
Allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks. This may allow the app to discover information about which applications are used on the device.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

read call log
Allows the app to read your phone's call log, including data about incoming and outgoing calls. This permission allows apps to save your call log data, and malicious apps may share call log data without your knowledge.

read your contacts
Allows the app to read data about your contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific individuals. This permission allows apps to save your contact data, and malicious apps may share contact data without your knowledge.

read the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to read the contents of your SD card.

read phone state
Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.

Allows the app to read SMS messages stored on your phone or SIM card. This allows the app to read all SMS messages, regardless of content or confidentiality.

run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

send SMS messages
Allows the app to send SMS messages. This may result in unexpected charges. Malicious apps may cost you money by sending messages without your confirmation.

draw over other apps
Allows the app to draw on top of other applications or parts of the user interface. They may interfere with your use of the interface in any application, or change what you think you are seeing in other applications.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

modify or delete the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to write to the SD card.

set an alarm
Allows the app to set an alarm in an installed alarm clock app. Some alarm clock apps may not implement this feature.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.

This is some context to put my review into perspective. Actually, I have a love-hate relationship with this app. When it works, it allows me to send and receive texts from my PC, remote control my phone screen, transfer pictures and more. In concept, it's a powerful tool. The problem is: I hate how often the app experiences connection problems - which is better than half the time. I've used this app on and off for about a year, but it randomly fails. It works fine for hours, or even days, then just... stops. When I troubleshoot, nothing has changed in settings on the phone, PC, router, or Internet gateway. Everything is connected to the same network. Internet speed is good. Router is working great with everything else in my house. There shouldn't be any issues, right? (Yes, Microsoft developers, I know that my phone and PC need to be on the same network. I'm not stupid and I can follow basic directions. As a matter of fact, I might have even been a tech support manager in the past.) When it fails, get ready for the run-around from tech support, who will blame everything but their own OS and app, even though everything else is working fine. Long story short, this app may work great for you. It may not. It did for me at first, but it's a true wild card. Mine hit a relatively stable patch for a few weeks until a week ago, then stopped altogether. Nothing had changed in my settings or network. Personally, I've wasted several valuable hours with tech advisors who keep telling me to do things I've already tried multiple times to no avail. If you have time for that, then by all means download this app. I wish you all the best of luck. If not, I would suggest looking for something else.

for pc download A work in progress, but ok. Being able to see your pictures from the phone on the computer is very useful. Sometimes the refresh takes too long and also initial linking to the pc is a little confusing. Seems like it could be easier. I realize this is still in development. I'm looking forward to it getting seemless and solidified.

for pc I really want to love this app but it keeps on disconnecting! I rebooted everything and connected everything twice and FINALLY it worked. Yesterday evening, everything was super fine! Working fast, receiving text messages, replying and all the good stuff. This morning, I noticed that my messages were not showing anymore so I try AGAIN to connect it. It just decided to not work today. It's really unfortunate because I would really like to use this app when I don't want to use my phone... Sucks..

apk I've never left a review on an app before but... The primary function of this app to many, including myself, is to receive and send messages through your PC. So why is it that the primary function is the main issue? Not the first comment to complain and sure won't be the last. I've attempted to troubleshoot the issue already and it just doesn't work. Update: I stated in my initial review I already troubleshot the issues. Guy at Microsoft responding to comments thanks but please go to a higher-up

iphone Always loses connection, is slow, and is just not worth it. When it works it works, and when it doesn't, IT DOSENT. I have a gigabit internet connection and it never works. Its just a waste of time. They make it sound so great, but its not. Edit- @Microsoft Corp -- I've done that multiple times and even have a Samsung galaxy s9 on the latest update with this feature integrated, and it just never seems to work. I also have the surface book 2, one of your products and they refuse to connect.

app Really buggy which is unfortunate, to the point where the app is useless and won't work. It will work once or twice after my Windows 10 PC is rebooted, but then the app reverts back to it's non-working state. You would think that Microsoft could at least get this one right. The very few times it has actually worked, it has proven useful but these times are few and far between.

qr code I just got my New Surface Duo. It is amazing. So smooth. It is bigger upgrade from my Lumia 735. The difference is mind blowing. But. Can't set up anything. Can't get my Verizon sim card to work. Been over a week now. I have to go to Verizon to set up. I can't set up Your Phone companion app on this duo. It says from Google store it is installed but does not show up as a app on my Surface Duo. It's frustrating. For now I will just use on WiFi.

download So overall it's not bad, it's annoying that once your laptop goes into power saving mode, it automatically stop syncing and im not sure if it automatically reconnect to sync or not, doesn't seem like it does. But when It does work, it's amazing; very fast and efficient!

10 Love the App, wish it synchronized perfectly. It randomly stops synchronizing and the help is a joke at best. Real winner apo if it would work consistently. Please fix. Your response does not help. I have uninstalled the App before and it will fix the issue until the next time it stops working. This is not a solution; you need to fix the sync issues; not provide some weak Band-Aid stop gap measure. Again, great app when it works. My issues are not isolated.

not working Supposed to be able to copy and paste, but it doesn't want to drag the file outside of the phone screens window. It's SO MUCH FASTER to just plug the phone into the computer with a cable to transfer files. You would think collaborative software and applications from both Samsung and Microsoft together would be top notch.... but honestly, its bottom of the barrel.... Complete Garbage!

Most unstable PC app in the history of the PC. Good luck getting the PC app to stay up and running more than an hour unless you're constantly using it. Almost never starts on the first try. Gui appears then immediately disappears... Yet still seems to be running in the background.... Totally unusable. I gave up and started using PushBullet. Rock solid. Run away from Microsoft Your Phone!

Setup takes ungodly amount of time. Frequently stops working. The troubleshooting page consists only of checking settings and offers no techniques. You have to jump through hoops to unlink Your Phone to try again, and even then it refuses to forget the initial setup, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. TLDR: Requires professional assistance to setup. NOT USER FRIENDLY P.s. I have years of technician experience and this was hell for me to try and fix. (Still not fixed)

This app can not connect to my Android Moto G7, I have spent two days trying everything the Microsoft support line recommened including doing updates on the PC and phone. I spent several hours with the chat line but still no connection. I connected to the WiFi and used my data either way it still does not connect. It's garbage that doesn't work. Overall the review is not on the function of the app, just the fact the app is a waste of time and doesn't sync to my phone.

Used mostly when my phone is charging and a text comes in that requires a response, or I've been texted a code to get into an acct. My only complaint is often when I need it, I realize it's no longer connected and I have to figure out why. Also, I just bought a new phone, easily transfered everything,, but while Play Store says it's installed, the icon is nowhere to be found. How do I retrieve it?

The PC App says 90% connected, under that it says "Were almost done." Under that it says " you've successfully signed in on your phone. Hang tight while we finish one last thing to get your device linked." It shows the loading timer for like 30 mins, til finally it says at the top " Make sure that your PC and phone are connected to the internet." My phone and PC are both connected to the same WiFi access point. This is the most I've gotten from this app.

This app looks to have made quite a few improvements since I last used it. Support for multiple computers is now available, but not flawless. You must manually refresh when switching computers. File transfer is a big feature I needed, and it is finally available, but not on my device. One other issue is outgoing messages do not all display in the messages pane. Overall, this is a pretty good app.

I've been experiencing nothing but connection issues. My S20 and laptop are both on the same wifi network, are both up to date and neither device has any battery saver mode on or do not disturb mode on. It'll work one minute but then the next minute it'll disconnect and won't reconnect at all. Dell Mobile Connect is a far better app and it works on my HP laptop. I expected better from Microsoft.

I have to say that it worked great for a couple of weeks. Some of the features that it had were kind of disappointing but all in all it worked. But as what happens to most Microsoft products, it stopped working and tells me I'm not hooked up to the Internet, not my phone or my computer. I haven't been connected to the internet according to this app since September 19th. I give up.

Does not work. I open the app and without letting me sign in or giving any prompts, it says "we're checking one more thing on your pc before we ask for a final permission." It says that 10 minutes. Eventually it gives up and says "From your phone app on your pc, select send notification. This will send the final permission to your phone." When i open the Your phone app on my pc, it generates a QR code snd says i must scan it from the phone app - but there's no way of doing so.

I have Microsoft's SMS app on my Samsung device and it can still not see any of my messages. Even after giving permissions, notifications just show error "We can't connect to ". Works really well. I almost exclusively use this for texting from my tablet, which is really convenient if my phone has low battery, I don't want/forget to take it with me, or I feel like using my tablet without worrying about my phone. I'm sure there are lots of other uses (I've used it to pick up where I left off on a website between my phone/computer/tablet and to get notifications for example), but I've mostly used it to get phone functionality on a tablet or computer, which works perfectly.

Horrible because it disconnects on its own and then it is almost impossible to to sign back in. However, when it works, it is OK but then it disconnects at will. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, I believe that Microsoft should be able to correct this but it is probably looking to find some other way to make more money.

As many others have experienced, app and Windows setup progress gets to 90% when the Windows app says "click to send a notification to your phone" which results in nothing on the phone, thought it was my old Galaxy S6, so brought a new Galaxy A71 and it's done exactly the same. Nul points, think I'll install Pushbullet where things just seem to work.

I have been using this to sync my Galaxy S20 with my new laptop. When it's working, it's working great. I don't even bother keeping my phone on me... No need for it. Sometimes it doesn't like to sync things randomly(maybe no photos today, or no msgs/calls tomorrow), even though PC/Mobile are already paired. App is always updating and getting more stable, so give it a shot. Looking forward to when it's working perfectly. Having your phone's full set of features on PC is so crazy!

Although this app fulfils its primary purpose, but I see that a lot of elements in it are unnecessary, such as the list of all the Microsoft apps. Worse, despite getting regular updates, it shows their older icons, such as those of the Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Moreover, the design feels a little off, too. Its design doesn't look anywhere closer to other Microsoft apps either. I hope these things are improved in later updates.

It worked well for a couple of hours. Day 2 it wouldn't work, but finally did and worked well. Day 3, today, I can't get it to work, despite both the computer and phone telling me it is connected. The app itself says: We can't connect to Galaxy J7. I don't know what else to do except uninstall it and look for another app that has similar features.

I've read that this is the next best think to sliced bread. Well I do not think so much of it. It has trouble staying connected. When I do get connected and receive or send a text it works (sometimes) looses connection, I've tried using the data on the phone but it has all kinds of connection problems. I have not been able to delete anything when I am in windows. I think it may be trying to do to much and fails to do anything well. I will keep it for a while and try to get it working as promised, but I must say my hopes are not very high. As far as comparing it to Googles Messages for Web, it can not compete in the texting category. Messages for Web does the ONE thing it was designed for very well.

I haven't gotten too much into running phone apps from the computer yet but I'm looking forward to that as well.

Works excellent with my Samsung S20 Ultra 5G and my Samsung S10 devices. I particularly love being able to add my Android apps to the taskbar on my PC for seamless use of apps like Snapchat (and other Android apps) on my computer instead of having to use my phone exclusively. There's also the freedom to read and send text messages and to make phone calls from my PC! Truly a game changer when if comes to convenience and ease of use! I highly recommend.

The link between phone & computer is almost never up. Half the time I try to use this app, it won't sync my messages. My messages never pop up on my computer unless I go to my app first. And all it says is that it "can't connect." It gives me no option to try and fix it or determine what the actual problem is. Definitely not as reliable as I hoped it would be. However, when it does work it is convenient. Update after doing what they recommended: It still doesn't work.

Like most Microsoft products it just about works on a good day. Most of the time it doesn't. It is slow to connect and frequently fails to connect but doesn't explain why not. I have tried working through the trouble shooting guides and quickly start going round in circles. I only use this app when nothing else is available. Microsoft are a useless company. They never support their products. Red

I am little dispointed about this file transfer app, I have tried for a lot more time to drag and drop the files between my phone to pc but it didn't allow me to do so. Even I already allowed it in your phone setting to drag and drop files. Developer need to fix this asap because everyone knows there is no external usb portal or cable available to transfer the files easily.

Should allow remote control of Android Phone. Other than that, functionality is good. Only problem is when more than 2 devices are connected. I use bluetooth earphones, headphones, speakers, mouse and the bluetooth on my laptop and phone. These tend to interfere with each other and quality of calls seems to be affected. Needs to be sorted out. Microsoft should take steps to enhance the connection experience and what we can do by connecting. Eg: social media and chats connect.

Good when it works sadly it has issues with actually connecting. Sometimes the app says it's connected but won't sync any data with my pc. Reliability issues really make what could be an amazing feature a pain to use. The only work around I can find is to force it to reconnect by having the app disconnect then toggling my wifi and hitting refresh in the pc client.

You dare not to be competitive with Apple with this kind of quality. 1. Screen mirroring needs permission every single time I've connected to WiFi. Wherever my phone is, I have to carry it all the time for the MIRRORING. Stupid. 2. Your phone app in Windows 10 is always pending an update with no progress. I can't use this app until the update has finished. That means, unusable. Microsoft's ambition to take Apple, not now exactly.

UPDATE (later thatevening): After uninstalling/installing, clearing cache, rebooting pc & device, I decided to reboot the router & modem. I then powered off device & pc. Then turned PC back on first and then the device. I was finally able to connect. I can see my phone's messages, notifications, and can make calls on the PC. HOWEVER, I can not mirror my phone's screen which means I can't interact with any apps. I will still keep my review at 1 star until I can mirror my screen. No matter what I do I can't get the PC to mirror my phone's screen. I've found countless other people experiencing the same issue in forums and on reddit. Original Review: Like others who complained today, the app on my PC won't connect to the phone's display. Also, the app is installed on my phone but not found in the app drawer. Where did it go? Why is the app not working as of today? It worked last week. I needed it today to remotely operate the phone camera for some outdoor macro shots. The idea was to comfortably sit in the shade while the phone sat in the sun taking photos. I got everything set up and now this....The Your Phone app decides not to work.

So you report a problem that this just doesn't work, it doesn't connect, I'm on the latest version on my phone and my PC, I'm also on the same network. Then the developers give you the same response as everyone else, which you can see in here, which doesn't fix it. How about admitting there is a serious problem with this app and Win 10 v.2004 and do your dev jobs and fix it.

It would be nice if it actually worked and was at least a little reliable. The last few days it connected though it took a long time. Today it's asking for my login or to scan a code. I scan the code and the PC app gets stuck at 60%. The phone shows there is no app associated with the scan but the app shows active with the proper permissions. The Android app shows the phone disconnected and when I select to connect it sends me back to the app on the PC. The link on the PC app to click if it gets stuck opens a browser window that simply spins once the page opens. There is no help. I have restarted the app on the PC and checked for updates for the phone. I have also restarted the phone. Both devices are on the same network and cellular is also selected if there is no WiFi. Who knows, perhaps tomorrow it will feel like working again. Two stars because it works occasionally. Another job well done Microsoft.

This might be the first review I've written in years, if not ever. I would be embarrassed if I had put this program out. I'm not a technical wizard, perhaps syncing an android phone and windows pc is the hardest thing ever but I would say that it is a pretty obvious function that should work. This app doesn't work very well at all. After the initial struggle to get it setup, which I did, it still sucks. Randomly closes while typing a text. Connecting one minute then mysteriously just stops. If this was a one man passion project I'd be ok with these things, this is MICROSOFT and they can't figure it out at all. Does anyone there even use the app before sending it out? Probably all on iPhones. AND BEFORE YOU CHIME IN UNHELPFUL MICROSOFT CORP COMMENT EVERYTHING IS UP TO DATE YOUR PROGRAM JUST SUCKS. I hope there is a better alternative to this piece of trash that is out there or will be soon.

I pretty much only use this app to transfer photos, and it doesn't even do that well. The messaging and mirroring worked fine but I didn't want to keep using it. The photo transfer is slow and reduces image quality to under 1mb. I understand there's limits doing this over WiFi but it'd be awesome if it didn't compress the images so much. When it works it is handy - although sharing photos from phone to PC has no option to share full-size photos. When it decides for some reason at random not to work, you can troubleshoot for hours in vain. Looks like Microsoft needs to do a*much* better job on this app.

I downloaded this app so that photos from my phone would automatically upload to my computer. It does an awful job at this! I can find no rhythm or reason for why my photos upload to my computer some times, but not others. I cannot seem to find a Help/Instruction to research this issue and correct it.

The 'Your Phone Companion' app is very helpful, as I travel for work. Having the ability to create documents and packages with my clients and print to my printer from my phone, instead of having rewrite my notes then print, saves a lot of time. It is user friendly and designed for ease.

App is stuck in a loop to update it or do it later. No matter which option you choose, it loops you back to the store to update it, but it's already installed. You click on open it and it loops you back to say you need to update it or do it later. Deleting all of it, now! Garbage products from Microsoft are always fun. 😒

Constant problems. Frequently loses connection to PC. Texts do not show up in the app, or send properly. "Refresh" button should be relabeled "display useless error message". Going back to Pushbullet. It worked better, worked consistently, didn't constantly ask for new permissions, and didn't crash daily.

Used to work but now, it asks for a scan of QR code from cell. That screen doesn't open up on this apps screen. Scanning with camera doesn't read it and is on in my LG Android 10 Cell phone. Phone screen requests phone app from computer to send link. That's impossible the computer app is stuck on QR screen. Repair/Uninstall doesn't fix. Please advise.

Also, have to disconnect on phone and pc then open the app on pc to get messages to sync. Getting worse. Needs ability to transfer files. Also everytime I need to open this app to start syncing data to PC (I've even turned on the Sync over mobile data and accessibility service).. Think that Android automatically kills this app

The call using PC mode is available for use only through Bluetooth and many computers including mine doesn't support Bluetooth also the range of Bluetooth is very low so the phone always has to be very close. Request the devs to add an option of calling from PC using wifi. Also the send msgs app is set as the default messenger it would be better if we could use WhatsApp instead.

Hate that you prioritise Samsung users. The Dell phone app does everything this does and if the right driver is installed let's any phone share the screen wirelessly with the PC. If that can, why do you only allow a small selection of phones to screen share apps? Apart from that it works ok, apart from limiting how much sms history and photos can be seen.
