Very useful and handy when you're on your computer and wish to keep up with your texts, missed calls and various notifications. You can manage everything from texts, calls, photos and even mirror the screen which means you can remotely control your phone from your Windows device. Only downside right now is the need to re-confirm the sync after every phone reboot.

Works decently well, but does need fixing. Trying to send a website to my phone doesn't work at all, sending a site to the computer will always put it in Internet Explorer even if the default browser is set to something else, and sending texts from computer to phone takes more than 10 minutes. Other than those issues, does what it is meant to do pretty well.

The app is a fine idea, if only one can figure out how to set it up! I've been added for one whole hour now and I still can't get my PC to talk to my Android. I have wasted so much time on this. And I also need to set up a second smartphone. I'm giving up for now. You need to fix your instructions so they are clear and include links to specific problems that may arrive and how to solve them. Images might be a good idea to, not video! And here is an idea. How bout having a drop down list of the possible problems a person can encounter that can be clicked on to go to the solution to that problem.

It's really nice when it works which is pretty rarely. At first it worked very well. Then it started disconnecting if I clicked refresh messages on my desktop. Now Google play say the app is installed but it's not on my phone and I can't connect to my computer at all. I'm glad this app exists but it needs a lot of work still.

  5. guest-avatar

I wanted to rate the concept a 4plus but it's just not possible possible so I'll rate it in total . At first I couldn't understand why I was finding it hard to follow the process to a tee but you still have parts that are not accessible or just not working towards it's ability yet. How frustrating that you put an app out to make my work easier yet you really are testing products that aren't ready for a market to view and use ... Got it , cuz I don't .

PC Stuck at 90% tried resetting via advanced app feature in Windows, reset Android app unlinked phone from Windows. Really wanted this to work - I love the feature where you're able to make and receive calls via PC. Tried Dell mobile connect, which worked until it suddenly stopped working, also it had to be side loaded. Please fix this, it's a really nice way to melt phone and PC together... If it worked!

This app is really nice idea to help people keep using text messaging in cellphones. There are some problems. Most common is syncing problem. sometime messages do not appear in the app. I updated the app my android phone and in my windows 10 desktop but it still not showing all the messages. some time message appears in notifications but not in messages tab. the other time message appears in messages tab but not in Notifications. sometime both do not show the message.

  8. guest-avatar

I love this app when it works, which is about 60-70% of the time. It often has problems connecting to my phone for reasons I cannot determine, but seems to have particular difficulty in the 5Ghz range. Update 03/25/2020: They have continued to improve this app and it is now 85-90% reliable. Setting it to sync using mobile data will boost it to 95%+, but I don't always leave this on to reduce data/battery consumption. Good work, team!

No matter the device, it won't pair. I have tried using this app to pair a Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, and a ZTE to my computer. These were all on Android 8 or 9. Every time, it fails on the last step where the computer sends a notification to the phone, because it never sends. On attempting to report the problem to Microsoft via the desktop app, I am always met with an endless loading screen.

  10. guest-avatar

I have had nothing but issues with this app. I can never get it to work on my phone or on my computer. It also does not send and receive text messages between my phone and computer. Hoping someone resolves these issues because it is the only app available for syncing your phone and computer with the computer I have.

  11. guest-avatar

Great Idea. Doesn't work. Like others, I'm Stuck on setup at 90% with my Android phone (Which my microsoft account recognizes separately) . I've been through every troubleshooting tip MS has plus some others I found on my own. Don't waste your afternoon trying to set this up like I did until they fix this.

  12. guest-avatar

This app didn't work for me at first due to "compatibility" issues. And now I hit install accidentally, knowing it's not going to work I waited for it to finish and now it has installed successfully and works fine, thank you Microsoft for including us for the low end phone users too. My phone is Tecno spark 2

  13. guest-avatar

I'd like to access all of the gallery photos and videos from this application, not only screenshots and camera photos. Also I'd like to see a folder type of system in the photos section along with a files section above or below the calling section. These few things will make this system a major feature competing with the apple ecosystem

UPDATE (March 2020): I tried this app last year when it was first released. Gave up after a few days of highly unreliable use - see my review below. Tried again with the latest release. Messaging, notifications, and photos worked ok for a couple of days, although I couldn't get calling to work. But then PC couldn't connect to phone and no amount of troubleshooting (uninstall, reinstall, reset, etc.) could get it to work. Fortunately, I still had Pushbullet which works great and continues to work flawlessly. App is now uninstalled and I won't be trying again. Previous review: May 2019 I really wanted this app to work, but it just kept disappointing me. The key feature - sending SMS texts from your computer - only worked some of the time. At least half the time a text failed to send, and the only way to recover is to copy/paste the text and resend - there's no retry option. I usually had to manually refresh to see received texts, and even then the refresh wouldn't always show me the latest texts. There is no support for emojis or sending images, and it also needs the ability to share the clipboard across devices (promised but still not delivered) and it needs an iOS app in addition to Android. Microsoft has published an extensive set of troubleshooting tips - I tried them but nothing helped. And you have to wonder why they would even need to do that - the app should just work! But thankfully, in the search for alternatives I discovered PushBullet. It reliably (so far) offers everything the Microsoft app promises and much more.

This is an incredible app... when it works. The pairing process was a nightmare because the final permission notification wasn't showing up until I tried a dozen times. Now that the pairing is complete, it works very well, but sometimes the computer just doesn't feel like refreshing for notifications. I have no idea what's causing that behavior. But when it does work? Very, very helpful and useful, and it's replaced my long use of Pushbullet. Just work on that stability, Microsoft!

Got a Samsung Galaxy A70. Says it is compatible. Can tell you right away that it is not. I've got "Your Phone App" on my Windows 10. Both devices have my Microsoft Account configured. One says "Check your PC" and the PC tries to connect to the phone but nothing work. Nice troubleshooting saying "Make sure that your PC and Phone are connected to the internet" (Wow seriously? I'm that dumb? I reinstalled the app on both and unlink everything multiple times but no luck. Checked my permission on my phone, on my PC, everything. So yeah, doesn't work. And even if I manage to get it work, probably won't work correctly anyway seeing the reviews so why do I bother anyway. I don't recommend. Bad product.

  17. guest-avatar

New Galaxy Note 10, still not working. Now it shows my phone screen on the computer, but messages, notifications and images screens are empty, except for the usual useless error messages about not being able to connect. The concept is great, but this app been an epic time waster for me. And leaving feedback on the Feedback Hub is seems to be equally useless as I never see any response from Microsoft.

  18. guest-avatar

The app does all of what it promises! It is really good, I'm giving it a 4 stars because it has a problem: I had my phone(S10+) and PC connected using this service. I had a lot of documents, apps, and images in my phone that I didn't want anymore so I decided to reset it and backup what I needed. When I tried to connect my phone and pc again it wouldn't work. For they to connect again the only I could do was reset my pc good thing is it now works perfectly but it shouldn't be this way.

  19. guest-avatar

Quit working after a couple of months. Followed every troubleshooting instruction. Nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Nothing. I do not recommend. Garbage app and waste of time. Looking for other options now *Update* Downloaded Airmore app. Installed within 60 sec and up and running in seconds perfectly. See ya "Your Phone Companion" will not miss you!!

  20. guest-avatar

Decent, not excellent, when it works. Utterly useless when it doesn't. Whether or not this app will sync is a bit of a coin toss. Particularly frustrating when it syncs parts of a conversation, leading to confusing replies. When it does work, it's useful but not great. The notifications for example are not clickable. In its present state I will not be keeping it. It feels like something that would be in late alpha/early beta stages. I wonder why Microsoft would allow something like this.

I couldn't change my selected email on my pc from an old school email I had once used, even after removing the account i was prompted to sign back into the same one. The trouble shooting did not help me at all, and for some, reason it will continue to say that my phone has been linked, even when not properly linked. I would remove it to try and add it again, only to see that my device was never properly removed in the first place, as not even that function seems to work. Please fix this!!!!!!!

  22. guest-avatar

Only worked a few times, but I realized that it was only putting the same photos up...even one's that I had deleted. NO NEW photos link up. Other than that, the app no longer works properly. Update: it still doesn't work and won't open.

  23. guest-avatar

Crapware. It never worked, showing the devices are linked but keeps refreshing and refreshing and refreshing and refreshing. Notifications don't work at all, messages and pictures showing "Nothing to see here" Although my phone name is displayed in the upper left corner. Microsoft after screwing Windows Phone is not doing any better in Android. Half baked apps but ads everywhere to bloat with other MS useless apps.

  24. guest-avatar

Stopped connecting to PC after awhile couldn't re link to PC after that. Edit: tried the steps provided they don't work. I had to remove the app on desktop and phone to reconnect. I notice when it's handling phone calls it tends to disconnect and have trouble reconnecting. My advice to others if you have trouble with it connecting, go into programs and reset the app on pc to remove your phone and setup again. Maybe don't use BT calls seems to happen most frequently after a call.

  25. guest-avatar

No .. not properly. All I wanted was that I receive phone calls on my windows pc without touching my phone, yea it's working ,but on my pc it's showing only number instead of contact name ... this makes this app almost useless as I still will have to touch/look at my phone to see contact name .

  26. guest-avatar

Great when it worked, a time consuming frustration now that it doesn't. It suddenly stopped communicating with my PC and following all troubleshooting steps and online advice has not restored function. I note the response, but it was not helpful. There is no "Quick Settings" on my phone. 3/6/2020 I note the reply from Microsoft. The suggestions do not work. After trying everything multiple times I'm still staring at "We can't connect to your phone" on the Your Phone App on my PC.

  27. guest-avatar

The app is installed on the phone but it doesn't show up anywhere. You cannot sync or interact with it. The PC is sending you to the phone to fix some permissions, the app is sending you to the PC to open the app again while you have given away all the rights of your first born. Another yellow error message just to give you a brain aneurism. It's still no go. Thanks a lot developers.

Can't connect with corporate PC I want to connect to my corporate laptop. I added microsoft account to my pc, but still it doesn't work. In your phone application on PC, I just see my phone's name in linked phones. It always stuck at "We're checking one more thing on your PC before we ask....", Or, "From Your Phone app on your PC, select Send Notification.....". and see no such option on PC to send notification.

  29. guest-avatar

Utter dog of an app. Got this working briefly. Since then I've been unable to connect via Bluetooth - no PIN appears on the computer but the phone requires one. Typical nonexistent support from Microsoft. Genius idea calling the app "Your Phone" - makes googling for help from the community (aka Microsoft Substitute Customer Support) impossible. Even the links in their app description have broken and are useless. All round a thoroughly typical, miserable Microsoft customer experience.

I used the app until a mid-February update. Now the app shows up as being installed on my phone but I cannot open the app. I've cleared cache and data and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing is allowing me to see the app with other apps on homescreen. Wonderful asset to my personal productivity toolbox! No more hassle finding useful online resources that get lost in the many bookmarks folders across browsers, or pain of having to track down my phone physically to make calls to places, people, etc. that are found online, via email, or otherwise. Well done app with everyday, functional use.

Worked a few days, was amazing. Now will not update and or pictures. Update (in response to the message from Microsoft on March 16/20): I appreciate you following up on my review, but your response was not helpful and contained no useful information. I contacted the support using “Send Feedback” option ang got no response. The support page for Troubleshooting Messages has only 3 sentences and nothing relevant to my issue. I tried resetting the App, unlinking PC and Phone, contacting Support… – nothing helped. My final verdict: You Phone Companion is crippled beyond usability and Microsoft provides no solution to fix it.

one thing I have to say that this synchronisation of data between pc and samsung mobile devices will not work(I think) as it requires high speed data while I'm a student who is a resident of remote villages in India where 4g speed lies below 1mbps. If you provide a solution of sharing files and all stuff via wifi to the pc like your wifi direct service(samsung smartphones shares files through this service) does, it will be very helpful for the users to send the data to the pc wirelessly.

Broken app Updated my phone to android 10. And it broke. Does not let me open the app. When I uninstall it. It says update insted of install which is odd. "Re-Updating" does not fix. Update, had to open the app profile in the android app permissions, then hit open in app notifications to enter app. Still does not show up on list of apps in app drawer.

Like other people on here, this app worked one time a few weeks ago but not it won't pair with my S10+. I get error message #18. I even tried to contact the developer using the email address provided and it came back undelivered. Microsoft is certainly the business giant it once was. And I can't uninstall the app from my PC and can't uninstall it from my phone. Thanks a lot Microsoft.

I really like this app but still I can't make phone calls on my Galaxy Note 9! I keep getting the message "You have apps installed that prevent you from making calls" Actually I don't have many apps installed, except for the ones that came with the phone. I tried everything that Microsoft suggests to solve this issue with no result. My phone will not connect to my PC with bluetooth even though Windows 10 shows my phone is already connected! I don't know who is responsible: Samsung or Microsoft?

  38. guest-avatar

I like that Phone Companion lets you type messages on my Microsoft Surface. But it will not allow me to send this computer written message to more than one recipient in the To: line. Only way I've found to do this is bring up phone image on the screen and use the Add Recipients tapping on the 3 dots, top right to add additional recipients. Then type the message into the picture of the phone on my computer. Seems awfully complicated. You'd think that Microsoft could send out a update to solve this and make their product more productive.

Perfect App for my Samsung Note. I'm a supporter of Microsoft and was sad to hear there Mobile OS was not being continued. I was going to get a windows phone but this Note 10 is probably better than a Windows phone now, I'm sure it is with this App. If you use a Windows PC a lot and own an Android phone you are really missing out if you don't use this App with these two devices.

*Update: Seems to be more stable after a couple of updates - performing better but still stops refreshing once in awhile. Needs ability to transfer files. Never syncs with PC/Refresh/Restart nothing makes any difference/Un/Reinstall permissions are correct....useless

  44. guest-avatar

After spending half an hour to set it up - almost - figured hang on, syncing photos which already managed by OneDrive, SMS's and errr...notifications...? Funny, as it's a mobile phone, means I can keep it right next to the PC and deal with both at the same time? Miracles of modern technology eh...lol! App therefore far more trouble than it's worth, uninstalling immediately

  45. guest-avatar

Very nice App I love it. But there is one small issue. Sometimes it doesn't stays connected in order to synchronize so you have to start the app manually. But that's okay. Another thing which really bad is the missing support for other than standard calls. For example WhatsApp calls aren't supported. That's not good because in many regions the isn't a good cellular connection for VoLTE and the call quality of normal calls is really bad. I would love to see support for WhatsApp calls.

  46. guest-avatar

Pretty damned weak. When it isn't sitting there like a lump telling me it can't connect to my phone, it double-sends every message like an annoying parrot. I checked online to see if there was a fix to either problem, only to find that other users have made the same complaints for months with no fixes in sight.

  47. guest-avatar

I can't install this on my Samsung Galaxy S9+. The Play Store says that it's a system application, so I uninstalled it and updated it, but no icon is created, and it doesn't show up in the Application list under Companion, Link, Microsoft, Phone, or Your. Clicking the Open button on the Play Store page just shows another Play Store page with an Uninstall button, and I can't get to the page with the Open button again without uninstalling. This is a completely frustrating experience. 🙄

  48. guest-avatar

Garbage. Setup was finicky, connection spotty at best despite a robust network. Wouldn't sync my messages, would load 25 photos but only blurred and not accessible. Gave up, uninstalled, remove device from MS account. Even if it did work...... not much value here. Also it's another app that when active leaves a notification in your tray constantly. The most annoying of app behaviours? Maybe.

  49. guest-avatar

Inconsistent performance. I've had to uninstall and reinstall a few times on my phone & reset on the laptop as it refused to sync after sometime of usage. Tried various recommendations and suggestions but it also returns to the issue after - 1.Turning either device off and returning following day & noticed sync issues 2.Swapping blue tooth device connections and returning later to the pc and noticing issues with sync Calls still work but the logs, texts and notifications fail to refresh

I left my phone in my locker at work. Battery around 80%. I come back a few hours later to find my phone is at 11%, and this app was the primary culprit. This app also consumed a TON of my data. Why? My computer wasn't even on at home! This app provides a valuable service but is not worth those pain points.

This is an excellent app I am now using the app to write this. This app is very usefull to access the phone with my computer. I can easily use this app to interact with my laptop programs which in the past will not be easy to do. I can also access my phone w/o looking into the phone while I am working. Also this app allows me to use a physical keyboard w/o the need to link a keyboard to my phone. Excellent app.

No better than a virus. I don't want it. Uninstall, it comes back. It's my phone, I should have the option to eliminate apps I don't want. The email contact is rejected as it doesn't exist.

Neutral rating as I'm sure it's a good, useful app, and it will send web pages from my phone to my pc. But apparently it can't receive from my pc because my phone doesn't have Android 7+. *My phone is an Oppo, running ColorOS. But app only gives option for iPhone or Android.

REVIEW EDITED: This was originally a 1-star review, full of my frustration at butting heads with this app over and over after an update. The suggestion was to "please update to our latest version," which I initially took to mean update the *app* -- this did not work and just got me even more frustrated. However, what actually worked was updating the =Windows App=, not the Android App. Once I did that through the Microsoft Store, all of the messages and photos from my phone instantly appeared on my PC. There was a slight hiccup where all of the texts only listed numbers and not names -- however, a quick reboot of both phone and PC seems to have corrected that. Now that it is back to working, I will take the time to say Yes, this app is fantastic. I keyboard type 110 wpm but thumb type more like 0.3 wph so being able to text while at my computer is a godsend. Being able to instantly download any pic from my phone directly to my hard drive is also a huge convenience. 5/5, wholeheartedly love the working app, if you give it a try and have any issues, all I got is: make sure *both* apps are up-to-date.

It's a great app, very useful. If you already have a phone paired with your PC, it can be a pain if you upgrade your phone or reset it, but a quick Google search is all you need to do to fix it. Perhaps on the PC side they could add an option to remove a device. Thank you Microsoft for investing so heavily in Android. 🙏🏻

Got all the way through set up until the last step where it is supposed to send a notification to your phone. Never happens despite multiple attempts. Trouble shooting offers no help to solve this. Multiple people with same problem in reviews.

  70. guest-avatar

I can't seem to get this app to add my second phone. Also there are severe limits on what types of files you can transfer, basically other than pictures, there's not much worth moving. I find Microsoft software to be extremely frustrating to use.

5 years later and still not working on a S10. Really great concept however phone & PC overlap each other trying to set each other up. It connects but could not receive or send a text. A user wants seemless setup, not to try and de-bug a newish S7 phone & PC.

  72. guest-avatar

Oh my lord. This process is a total nightmare! All I expected is to enter my phone number and a code, but my god, it's overcomplicated... all I want is to call my friends via PC. Definitely won't recommend for people with little time on their hands. Maybe it'll work next time....

  75. guest-avatar

Note 5, Android 7 cant download all messages. Downloads all but latest messages and refresh does not refresh. Checked all connections and should be fine. Seems that many other people have similar problems.

  76. guest-avatar

When sending messages via phone or computer, the sent messages are about 30% successful at showing up on the opposite device. If I send a message on my phone, high chance it doesn't appear on computer, and vice versa. All recieved messages generally show up though

  77. guest-avatar

App does a lot of good things. But unfortunately, due to Android restrictions, Phone Companion requires a constant Notification item to work. I really dislike constant notifications cluttering up my Notification shade. Not Microsoft's fault but I will be deleting app.

  78. guest-avatar

Bluetooth keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Because of this I cant use this app to answer phone calls. It would also be nice to see a more button in order to see more pictures on my phone.

  79. guest-avatar

It doesn't work. Can't get computer and phone to sync. For this to be a valuable tool, it should just work. I shouldn't have to link, unlink, relink, send notification, resend notification with ultimately nothing happening.

  84. guest-avatar

Here's the downside. It's so easy to use on your PC, you won't pick up you phone to check texts anymore. Also, it's way too easy to type really long texts. Worse, you can copy paste easily. (tongue-in-cheek) Great app!!!!!

  85. guest-avatar

The biggest issue now is that I can't turn off (bulk or singular) any work app notifications. Second, I borrowed my laptop and now all my notifications are visible to my family (needs a suspend option).

This app works better than advertised, and far better than I expected. Install it and play with it, in a short time you'll consider your phone and computer the same tool. I'm very impressed. Great work development team.

Connecting to PC has been problematic. All settings are correct on both devices The issue still exists. I removed app from phone. Terminated, repaired and reset. Uninstall is not available as it is not an active radio button

I think this app works great on my Samsung S9 plus.! my only issue is that the call feature is just a Bluetooth headset basically not really making calls or any better connected than that yeah I don't need that that's kind of silly. Other than that great app, thank you!

This trash doesn't synchronize it just stay at 60% on my computer and in my cellphone says " select send notification, this will send the final permissions to your phone " but the aplication on Windows remain charging at 60% infinitely. Erasing it, it does not work.

Doesn't work, resending the notification didn't work, icon is nowhere to be seen on my phone, video showing me how to do it is useless, and the FAQs are useless because none of them are the issues I'm having.

No, too intrusive and doesn't work to boot. I am not linking my amazing phone to your services again. RANT ALERT! BTW I had 2 tablets just going bad because suddenly account credentials wouldn't work and lock my devices. You are around so many years now, please work out these simple, stupid mess ups; oh BTW those tablets are still sitting somewhere as a paper weight! I am not an apple person so even a chromebook is better and more reliable!

this is absolutely amazing and so helpful because whenever I am on my PC I don't want to be looking at notifications on my stupid smart phone all the time haha. You can call and text and message on Facebook messenger with your PC with this app!!

Calls feature doesnt work. I go through the setup and it pairs successfully, but the PC app keeps complaining that I need to pair again. Normally I'd reinstall the apps, but that's not an option for the pc app. Garbage.

Sometimes the connection is weak even when both devices are very close to each other. It's hard to connect from another device if a previous one has been connected. Hard to manage the set up at first

It works but there are missing features which developers should look into. Otherwise I'm satisfied with the app. Would have given it 5 star if I could use it simultaneously on all my devices.

OK when it works. The constant issues with connection and recognition between devices make the app useless most of the time. It also won't allow viewing or downloading videos , only photos which is disappointing.
