La forma en que los seres humanos han tratado sus enfermedades y padecimientos desde que el hombre apareció sobre la tierra ha sido con medicina natural usando plantas y productos animales.  Hoy en día, tenemos  lo que conocemos como medicina alópata que intenta sanar con drogas creadas en los laboratorios. Estas drogas son productos muy elaborados y refinados que atacan principalmente los síntomas y en general nuestro cuerpo reacciona a mediano y a largo plazo a sus efectos secundarios, que con frecuencia acaban siendo peores que la enfermedad que pretendían curar. 

¿Qué es la medicina natural?

La medicina natural  ha sido incluida entre lo que se ha dado en llamar “medicina alternativa”.  Es el uso de recursos “naturales” para tratar nuestros padecimientos, principalmente plantas. Este tipo de procedimientos curativos pone la medicina natural al alcance de todos.

Los dispositivos móviles son la forma más eficiente y rápida que tenemos para encontrar y tener prácticamente “a la mano”  una solución a un problema de salud tales como una quemadura en la cocina, un piquete de insecto, un catarro, tos, etc. Es muy frecuente que los elementos naturales para aliviar el dolor y mejorar un accidente doloroso o molesto, los encontremos en nuestra misma casa, en nuestra despensa. O si no, obtener las hojas o partes de plantas para crear los remedios naturales, lo podemos hacer con relativa facilidad y a un costo muy bajo. 

Esta versión de nuestra app Medicina Natural no contiene todos los remedios ni todos los recursos. En esta versión de “Medicina Natural” se ha incluido en la descripción de cada planta medicinal, sus características botánicas, su nombre científico, su uso gastronómico, sus características medicinales y además una sección muy breve de sus contraindicaciones.  

Este último recurso de nuestra aplicación, las contraindicaciones o efectos secundarios de cada una de las plantas incluidas, lo consideramos de vital importancia. 

Es muy fácil caer en el error que toda planta usada como remedio es totalmente inocua y que es posible usarla sin pensarlo demasiado, pero es una realidad que muchas de estas plantas también son toxicas en dosis altas y si se toman o se usan en exceso.  

Tomemos como ejemplo el caso de mujeres embarazadas o lactando y alimentando un bebe al mismo tiempo que se toman remedios con estas plantas. O bien el desarrollo de alergias a los compuestos de estas plantas. 

Nunca se deben de tomar estos remedios a la ligera. Se deberá consultar a un especialista en la materia o al menos hacer una extensa búsqueda en la literatura disponible en el Internet antes de iniciar un tratamiento con estas hierbas, plantas, semillas, o partes de ellas. 

Afortunadamente en los últimos años hemos visto una tendencia cada vez mayor por parte de la comunidad médica-científica para dedicar recursos y tiempo en la investigación de las características y efectos secundarios o contraindicaciones en el uso de hierbas o plantas como remedios.

Natural medicine has been included in what has been called "alternative medicine". It is the use of "natural" resources to treat our ailments, mainly plants. This type of healing procedures put natural medicine available to everyone.

What is the intent of this application we have called "Natural Medicine"?
