MacroDroid is the easiest way to automate your daily tasks on your Android smartphone or tablet. Via the smart user interface MacroDroid offers a simple solution to make automated tasks on your device in just a few taps.

MacroDroid helps you by automating the activities you did manually before, and customize them in a way that works for you. A few examples of how MacroDroid can help you to get automated:

# Optimize your daily workflow on your phone; switch on bluetooth and start playing music when you enter your car. Or switch on WiFi when you are near your house.
# Reduce battery drain (like dimming your screen and switching Wifi off)
# Saving on roaming costs (automatically switch off your Data)
# Increasing safety during commuting by reading your incoming notifications (via Text to Speech) and sending automated responses via email or SMS
# Make custom sound and notification profiles.
# Remind you to do certain tasks using timers and stopwatches.

These are just a few examples out of limitless scenarios where MacroDroid can make your Android life a little easier. With only 3 simple steps this is how it works:

1. Select a Trigger.

The trigger is the cue for the macro to start. MacroDroid offers over 70 triggers to start your macro, i.e. location based triggers (like GPS, cell towers, etc), device status triggers (like battery level, app starting/closing), sensor triggers (like shaking, light levels, etc) and connectivity triggers (like Bluetooth, Wifi and Notifications).
Macros can be triggered automatically, but it is also possible to create a shortcut on the homescreen of your device or start using the unique and customizable Macrodroid sidebar.

2. Select the Actions you like to automate.

MacroDroid can perform over 100 different actions, that you typically would do by hand. Connect to your Bluetooth or Wifi device, select volume levels, speak text (like your incoming notifications or current time), start a timer, dim your screen and many more.

3. Optionally: Configure Constraints.

Constraints help you to let the macro fire only when you want it to.
Living near your work, but only want to connect to your company's Wifi during work days? With a constraint you can select specific times or days that the macro can be invoked. MacroDroid offers 50 constraint types like: battery level, connected devices, time and day constraints, headphones insterted and many more.

MacroDroid is even compatible with Locale and Tasker plugins to expand the range of possibilities even further.

For beginners

MacroDroid's unique interface offers a Wizard that guides step by step through the configuration of your first macros.
It is also possible to use an existing template from the template section and customize it to your needs.
The built-in forum allows you to get help from other users, allowing you to easy learn the ins and outs of MacroDroid.

For more experienced users

MacroDroid offers more comprehensive solutions like the use of Tasker and Locale plugins, system/user defined variables, scripts, intents, advance routing like IF, THEN, ELSE clauses, use of AND + ORs

The free version of MacroDroid allows you to configure up to 5 macros. The Pro version (a small one time fee) unleashes the full power of MacroDroid and lets you create an unlimited amount of macros.

Running in background

If you have issues with the app not staying alive in the background please see

Please use the in-app forum for all usage questions and feature requests, or access the forums via

To report bugs please use the built in 'Report a bug' option available via the settings.

This app uses the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN). This permission is used by the failed login trigger (nothing else) and will only be enabled if you explicitly give MacroDroid device admin access from within the app.

App ChangeLog

  • Fixed issue where local variable updates could trigger other macros.
  • Fixed issue where Intent Received Trigger could fire multiple times when using multiple macros with same intent.
  • Essential changes in order to try and recover Gmail sending functionality.
  • Other minor fixes

Good app. I'm able to create a macro so that I am notified when to take my medication. I have a macro that sends me notification to open my parking app and start parking. It also opens the app for me. Also an app to switch wifi off and data on when I'm away from home and visa versa. It can do a lot of things and the good bit about it is that I have personalised it to my requirements.

  2. Akash Kakkar-avatar

apk Wonderful automation app. Only the thing which I find lacking is the action to switch to the last app. (It is supported by tasker but not by macrodroid). But I like macrodroid more due to it's simplicity and ease of use. @arlosoft, Please include "switch to last app" action too in macrodroid. I really need it a lot.

  3. absdroid-avatar

pro This makes Android 100 times better! 5 starts. Have to say, one thing I still haven't been able to work out is, scroll through menus/ settings with Macrodroid. User interaction doesn't always work.

  4. GA Outlaw-avatar

pro apk Awesome app!! Great for simple tasks, but can be very powerful if you have a creative mind. Great user community out there posting cool templates that you can use as is or modify to your liking. Love it!!

  5. GTB7979-avatar

macrodroid device automation apk download I love it!! I always found "Tasker" to be to complicated to bother with it. This simplifies it all. Best $5 I've ever spent on an app. Galaxy Note 10 Android 10 unrooted

  6. Daniel Mureșan-avatar

macrodroid device automation download This app is nuts! And scary! The level of control you get is maddening! But as uncle Ben said, with great power comes great responsibility. Also, is the app secured?

  7. CarsoNation-avatar

pro v2.2.0.apk Very advance and easy to use and if you pay only $5 bucks you can have more options, infinate macos, and of course no ads!

  8. J. A.-avatar

Good app: intuitive and low learning curve. Didn't try other automation apps but took this one because of the reviews and the regular updates. Features I would like to see are: (0) NFC State change in Triggers-Connectivity (1) Undo and Redo (of last changes in the macro) (2) Copy/Paste multiple lines at once (3) Disable/Enable multiple lines at once (4) A comprehensive and searchable online 'manual' (could be a collection of the help texts of all instructions) (5) Toggle on/off the configuration detailed settings to view/hide more/less details in the code when editing.

  9. Abel Thomas-avatar

The possibilities are endless with this app. The user interface is very intuitive. A feature that I liked was the ability to make constraints for a particular action within a macro without applying it to the other actions in that macro. Gives really good granular control. The premium is totally worth it in my opinion.

  10. Randy Tsuchiyama-avatar

    Randy Tsuchiyama

Easy to use and lots of stuff you can automate. A lot easier then taskr which I never figured out

  11. Eric Cire-avatar

Lacks some basic features. No delay settings. Also you cannot order the macros to control which one starts first. Once installed you cannot longer uninstall it until you find out how to disable admin apps. Have it installed on 3 devices. All problems are true on all of them. Now using a different automation app (btw: I am smart enough being a game Dev for 25 years.. Obvious that I am the problem here..)

  12. Kosi Kalogerinis-avatar

    Kosi Kalogerinis

Anyone who uses this app with some of their own creative thinking will quickly realise that ios is about 15 years behind (even with their amateur automation shortcuts app!). Macrodroid is the perfect automation app, keep up with the great work!

I hope they add click picture. I didnt see the configuration here Actully i love the app. I give 3 star so developer can notice this. Huh what u mean.? I already check all action there no click the picture...? Uh... so in my app the pic is randomly place to pop out so i want the app recognize the pic. So i dont need click it anymore. Can u make update so he can know the pic what i wanna click...? Ty for response

  14. Pavel A.-avatar

I've been using it for ao long and it's has always been grrat. The contonued support is greatly appreciated!

  15. Aliexeleros X.-avatar

Works as described AND perfect for making tiles in the notification shade!

  16. Spider Wings-avatar

The app does not detect screen unlock in a macro, even though it works if you simulate the macro. I have switched off all battery optimisations, locked the app, let it run in background, given the app all the permissions and the app was running but it still won't detect screen unlock. I use a Xiaomi device

  17. Rafi Hovsepyan-avatar

Love it. I've been looking for a good automation app for a while now and found everything i needed in MacroDroid. Simple interface, easy to use and best of all, it's on a reasonable price.

  18. Adrien Bouteille-avatar

    Adrien Bouteille

Amazing app, easy to use and quite powerful if you want to do advanced things. This is by far the best app I've found to automate things, so much that I bought the full app within two hours after installing it.

  19. Ania Kovas-avatar

Good macros. Easy to program with a little imagination. Power light. Very occasionally delays a run for a short time. Otherwise very efficient.

  20. Alan Tan-avatar

The trigger for the Cell Tower no longer works (it was working on the older version)! I had tried various interval timings but it is still not working. Disappointed

  21. Dynamic Network-avatar

    Dynamic Network

After last update NFC toggle don't work anymore with adb hack: 2020-01-21 11:12:50] - {ERROR} Cannot run root command on non-rooted device. I didn't have this error before. Data Mobile toggle and Location mode is still working.

Great app. Great dev. Constantly adding features. Allows you to customize your phone just about anyway you can imagine.

  24. S Kenny-avatar

Very good app, but it contains too many bugs and not enough developed functionalities. Creating heavy macros is not very simple.

Useful for earphones without useless buttons to skip songs

I'm fascinated with this app. You can transform your mobile phone in to something more

Great tool! Easier than Tasker to use.

  55. Steve Bromley-avatar

Great addition to my phone. Automates many of my repetive tasks.

Happy with app again. App is back to working on Android 10 and galaxy s10 plus.

This is a fantastic utility. It's replaced several other apps I used to use - particularly my robocall blocker. A simple macro and all calls not in my contact list go to voicemail. How is this not built into Android already? Great for setting up preferences when moving between my home and work wifi networks. Can't recommend enough.

  61. Sean McCartney-avatar

+1 Star for dev follow-up...if not the pop-up I'd love to know the cause. I understand the inability to test every scenario/iteration (IT veteran); issue persists across last 2 phones. Great app, but after every app update it creates a pop-up window with update info -- this prevents macros from running until you open the app, close the pop-up, THEN disable and re-enable all macros.

  62. ReVerbIsSuperb-avatar

MacroDroid has given the most "bang for my buck" out of any app I've ever purchased. While I love Tasker's extended "auto apps" (some of which I've combined with MD myself for more useful complexity), this has a much cleaner UI & still effective simplicity that motivated me to actually start. Tbh, any issues I see others have are due to a lack of reading comprehension or knowledge (With Android 10 or in general). For basic-intermediate level automation, I always start with MD now. Bless the dev!

  63. Robert Weber-avatar

I've been looking for ages for a simple way to trigger a custom sound when a notification contains a key phrase and I have found it! I'm so thankful! Tasker is so needlessly confusing and MacroDroid leaves the BS at the door. Thank you so much!

Hello My device say it using unusual battery android 10 please fix

  65. Chris Wampler-avatar

I love it. The program is clean, easy to use, only asks for elevated permissions when specifically needed to perform the action requested. I used to use Llama which I liked but this app is more streamlined and updated. I feel like I get access to everything I want. A great program.

  66. bob f-avatar

Initially used, successfully, as a Llama replacement. However it's more than that, a full featured automation solution. These types of tool are usually either limited in capability or ridiculously complex to use. This is neither and genuinely a pleasure to use.

  67. Franz Doepp-avatar

Dear all, I love this app and I am not willing to accept, that google might not allow to access any google data such as my google-calendar. I wrote many automation scrips which ease my daily work and document e.g. my working time, travel time, where i parked my car. Using the app also decreases the probability of an accident because an additional scripts reads aloud any incoming message during the time period while blue-tooth collected to my car... So said. Dear developers: Please work against your status being an unconfirmed developer (in german: "Nicht bestätigter Entwickler").. Best, Franz

  69. Nathan Davis-avatar

Works really well with setting up many different macros. Clean interface. There is a wizard that is easy to understand and walks you through all the steps to set up a macro. Highly recommend.

  70. Trevor L.-avatar

I find this app the most useful, and user friendly of all the macro apps, the things you can do with this is great, I have it set to read my texts to me via my bluetooth headphones when it detects they are connected and I get a text, I have it prompt me to ask if i want it to read the incoming text in my car. I also made one that responds to selected contacts, when my phone is connected to my cars bluetooth, it responds that I may be driving and to call if it's urgent. Thank you!

  71. Pankaj Dhande-avatar

Edit: I launch the script using a shortcut. On top of that, the app is not battery optimized, but yet my scripts won't run. I created a few scripts before I decided to buy the app, but it seems that the scripts stopped working after a few days. Not sure what is the probelm. I am using Android 10. I am holding my purchase now.

  72. Tybie Fitzhugh-avatar

This app should come pre-installed on phones, it's that important. It makes my phone SO much more useful and gives me so much power to customize it to suit my needs. I didn't know I needed this app until I found it. I'll be recommending this to everyone I know. Edit: By the way, the price is a bargain! I would gladly pay 10x more. Well worth it.

  73. chris mcgrath-avatar

This is exactly what I was looking for, an easy way to turn on car mode, WiFi hotspot and Bluetooth to connect with new car stereo at the touch of a button. And turn it all off again just as easily. Bought the full paid version after playing with it for 30 minutes. I will find more taxing jobs for it to do. But for now I am overjoyed that I got this after hours of trawling through the play store trying other apps that's didn't come close to what I wanted. Five stars 👍

I love this app. It's super easy to set up a macro and there are a lot of things you can do. You can just take an hour or two and read through everything with their helpful descriptions. The pro version is definitely worth it. I use it as a tool and also just messing with my friends sending them random parameters at random times. You can also download macros that other people have made which I have used as templates to do other things. Super worth it, everybody should have this app.

  75. Subhra Patra-avatar

The Best. Things that I have done with this app is some thing beyond imagination . I have used Webhook urls to pass variables using browser to send whatsapp, messenger, sms text. And also used received notification trigger to get my messages emailed to me as a screenshot. Enabling me to use my messeging apps and stay in touch with people even when I dont have my mobile with me and that also not using my company email there by breaking the rule. So this is a major tool that u can ever get.

  76. Greg B-avatar

Downloaded this expecting it to be so complicated it would be un-usable. How wrong I was: The interface makes automating actions a breeze and hides how incredibly powerful this app really is. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Well done, keep updating with new functions, happy to field test if this would help.

  77. casey parsons-avatar

Great app with pro I got unlimited macros I can spam my friends with 20 messages with the click of a button I can do so many useful settings in real world situations like when I got to 30 % or whatever I choose I can auto go to power save mode and save my battery for the rest of the day or I can send a message I'd somebodys phone goes to far or to close to mine. Great app would recommend.

  78. Milap Patel-avatar

App is awesome and easy to use. UI is self explanatory and navigation is super easy. Compare to similar apps i use this one is very intuitive. While other apps allow some even much complicated task, this one is more than enough for most of the task I need. One does not need to be geek to use this one. Separating Trigger, Action and Constrain makes creating macro simple. I was gonna suggest to allow custom name for each step but then I realized I can add comment to each step. awesome👍

  79. A Google user-avatar

If you want your phone to be a smartphone you need this app (to fix Android's bugs). If I had only one app on my phone this would be the one ! Once you've used the MacroDroid app you wonder how you ever lived without it before! You can create almost any app that is on the Google Play store, except you will no longer have bugs... Just amazing. thanks to the developper for making such a "vital" app. (if on rare occasions you encounter one of your macros not functionning, restart your phone).

Wanted an app where I could automate my always on display on my pixel 4 to turn off in a dark room. Set the light sensor level and display off as triggers. Set action to turn off always on display. Had to setup further app access with adb but if you're automating Android tasks, then that step isn't too advanced. Works flawlessly.

  82. Jon Jacobs-avatar

MacroDroid is versatile and very easy to use. I keep finding more and more problems it can solve for me. I'm using MacroDroid to conserve battery power by literally telling me -- vocally -- I've been in high-drain location mode and by killing background apps when the screen turns off. I'm also using the app to easily restore a lapsed bluetooth connection by cycling bluetooth just by turning the phone face-down.

  83. Chinese Dragon-avatar

Android Pie: please improve event "application closed". It notices this event even if I only went to the homescreen for many apps, such as rotation control, bitdefender, kinscreen, powerline, netguard. For applications with a persistent notification I can add a constraint for this app's notification not being present.

  84. Jesse Spinella-avatar

Quick to learn if you've ever used logic to complete a task before, whether in a programming language or in every day life. Its simple layman's language and user interface make it a powerful, infinitely useful software. If you want to tweak your phone your way MacroDroid is awesome!

  85. Jeff Kirkley-avatar

Very good app. Much more capable than other automation apps out there and a lot easier to use as well.

  86. mike brown-avatar

Nice interface, user friendly, many options. I love it. Purchased the pro version the same day I installed it. The app has a lot of potential to turn your device into a power house. Great job to the developers.

  87. Chris Wilberg-avatar

Awesome app! Makes it so my phone doesn't have to light up every time I stop or start charging!

  88. Noel Scerri-avatar

This app adds power to your mobile and it's packed with features. It's amazing what this app can do! One suggestion is to add a gesture recorder to be used as a trigger ;) Kudos to the developer!

  89. Neil McKenzie-avatar

Used as a replacement for timerriffic. This was the only one of the tasking apps I could make sense of. It could do a lot more but I am just using it to make the phone silent at certain times.

  90. Jason Howarth-avatar

Very good app. Automated a Note 8 which I fitted into the dash. Now use it for other automation on other devices.

  91. David Misc-avatar

Detecting receipt of SMS should not require access of contacts. Edit- a) it can be detected by number doesn't need name b) you can offer the feature to do it by name, as an option that requires permitting access to contacts.

Can't believe how good this is! Great interface, easy to use, very powerful. An online repo of examples so you can modify other peoples work and see what can be done. MacroDroid is what Tasker, Automate, and IFTTT wish they were.

  97. Minsoo Kim-avatar

Works again. /// The latest update broke the hotspot on/off function the only function I use... Android 10. It worked fine even on Android 10 and the trigger is still detected only the action does not work.

  98. David Briere-avatar

Amazing app. It is extremely user friendly and easy to use even for beginners. Has allowed me to automate many features on my phone which saves me a ton of headaches. This app is a must have of you have an Android phone.

I am having a lot of fun with Macrodroid. I've gotten my phone to do all sorts of cool stuff using it. I'm constantly thinking of new ideas for using Macrodroid. I think I have an actual problem. :D

Very useful and fairly easy to use. Now that I have a non Samsung or LG phone the volume options are limited and this is not reflected in the volume configure page.
