Unlike most reviews this is what I want, an newspaper e-reader. if I wanted live news I'd use the other app. Google Pixelbook should be a tablet sized edition rather than the phone edition. I'm sure it wasn't like that when I tried a few years ago. I don't read the paper on a daily basis. I read once or twice a month. I would like to see an option to buy a paper on the day, rather than being tied to a subscription. I would happily pay £1 or £2 for reading at a time. Please consider this.

I like The independent Daily edition. Reasonable layout, however the last update 16th Sept 2020 🤔 Unless you support and continually update you can't expect people to continue to subscribe. It is lazy. Both this and the so called premium app are poor. Pay for development or people will simply not renew their subscriptions. I won't be unless improvements.

They have taken the term digital newspaper very literally and put very minimal effort into making articles into a digital, easy to read format. I would strongly advise the creators of this app to look at something like the Guardian who have a very layout for news in a way that allows someone to easily filter about a certain type of news rather than have to filter through the newspaper itself.

Disappointing. For a newspaper that has offiically moved to the web; this app doesn't follow a modern infrastructure. There's simple and simple. There should be a trade off system in place. Free vs online ad system is common nowadays, this app doesn't follow That. And it simplistic to the point of half assed, which is what it is. Get with the times (pun intended), you have decent journalists and great writing, having such a minimilistic app interface isnt the compliment you think it is.

Incredibly disappointing, I like to get the news from a variety of different sources and the Independent is one that routinely used to provide quality middle of the ground news compared to others with far leaning left/right views, I tried this app even after looking at the myriad of negative views thinking it can't be "that bad" but the app is horrendous in terms of format, and ease of use. I enjoy the source and website. But they really need to do something about the app.

I remember when the independent launched it paper broadsheet. It was so good, so refreshing, actual real news, real facts, real journalists. It took risks. The current apps are truly appallingly designed. I worked designing PC Games and know the value of a clear and easy to use on first use GUI [ GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE ]. I subscribed to the paper for years, even when abroad. I love the content, but the premium or just subscription rates are way too high given the market. Get 1 app that works

An excellent way to read the news - without distraction from links, "btl" comments or 24/7 live latest breaking etc. etc. Basically like buying a paper and sitting down to read it, with quality journalism and content. Better in fact as there are no ads. Worth the money; much nicer and more refined than the buggy and irritating Independent Minds app.

Apologies to You 1 star reviewers. I thought the app couldn't be as bad as that but I've installed it and found you are totally correct. The app is embarrassing. It's not a digital newspaper it's an ebook downloaded at best. I'm not going to say anymore because I can see that similar comments have been continually posted for 2 years or more and nothing has changed so the newspaper app devolopers obviously don't care what we think. Uninstalled.

Cannot log on or cancel my subscription. customer services just referred me back to Google Play, saying they couldn't locate my subscription (despite apparently receiving money from me. I was a regular reader of the paper edition, so very disappointed

App is exactly as described by other 1 star reviews: Despite being a paying subscriber, it won't let me log in, as it doesn't recognise my details. Not sure if it works when subscribing through the Play Store, as I subscribed on the Independent website. Complaints are going back years, so the developers clearly have left the building.
