Takbiran atau mengucapkan takbir "Allahu Akbar" merupakan salah satu amalan sunah saat Idul Fitri dan Idul Qurban.
Dalam suatu riwayat disebutkan,
كَانَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجُ يَوْمَ الفِطْرِ فَيُكَبِّر حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ المُصَلَّى وَحَتَّى يَقْضِيَ الصَّلاَةَ فَإِذَا قَضَى الصَّلاَةَ ؛ قَطَعَ التَّكْبِيْر
“Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam biasa keluar hendak shalat pada hari raya ‘Idul Fithri, lantas beliau bertakbir sampai di lapangan dan sampai shalat hendak dilaksanakan. Ketika shalat hendak dilaksanakan, beliau berhenti dari bertakbir.” (Dikeluarkan dalam As Silsilah Ash Shahihah no. 171. Syaikh Al Albani mengatakan bahwa riwayat ini shahih).
