Google Play Reviews

  1. Russell-avatar

Almost perfect. My favorite, without any real app I have found that comes close. There is a problem I am having with getting constant notifications, saying the last song that was played when I stopped. It gets kind of annoying. However, if I turn off notifications, it disables a useful function of being able to control play pause , next or previous track in the lock screen. I would love to see more options to disable specific notifications, so I now longer have my phone vibrate every 10 minutes

  2. Sonny Boy-avatar

Excellent music player. I even use the desktop version, however I have a few problems with the mobile version. 1: No easy way to sort files. Finding songs by (contributing) artist(s) is intimidating. I get less results than desired. Also, why is there no sort by bitrate? 2: Intermittent crashes while browsing for files. Sometimes, while I'm browsing for music (but not playing), the app sometimes crashes. Please fix this bug. It's annoying.

  3. Ajytf kiygkyu-avatar

Althought the PC version is excellent I'm really disapointed by the version for Android. The interface is not intuitive. It does not play the songs from a playlist only but plays all the files on the device. Cannot exclude folders.

  4. Michael18751-avatar

Great player but crashes frequently or gives me critical open al errors. Also the ui could use major improvements including the ability to customize the player. Like in the windows versions you can add stuff like visualizers. Also a complete black mode would be appreciated for AMOLED displays.

Plays back audio perfect and has many useful features. The app however falls fat on its face in terms of UI and UX. The dated UI works fine for the desktop version because it's highly customizable and expandable. Seeing as this is not the case for this app I don't see the reason to throw away all the good that Material Design brings to the table. There is a difference between minimalism and plain ugly.

  6. JAMES Smerdon-avatar

After 2 mins of background play, the app hangs, and oscillates endlessly, until it has to be killed in memory. Foreground play is fine. Background sucks though. And background play, is one of it's best features. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Other than that... Everything about this app, makes it the absolute ruler of it's niche. How do I correct this glitch? A priority setting? (BTW... I visited Douglass in '74, and went up the mountain (A Canadian hill). Beautiful place. Nauseating ferry tho.

  7. Jake Rudisaile-avatar

The lack of ability to remove the super intrusive scrollbar is enough of a pain to deal with that it knocks 2 stars off the overall review. Pressing to the right, even slightly, sends the screen is many directions away from where I was at, when all I wanted to do was just start an album. The tuneFusion app is also a pain to deal with, and not worth the additional 20 dollars. However, asides from these problems, I will say this is one of the best mobile music apps out there.

  8. Peter K-avatar

I write 5* only because I respect PC version and history. Fast mode is urgently needed! ! when I use concurent products swiping from above gives fast access to next/prev track. Also does not find all mp3 tracks on phone - even directories are missed. not user friendly.

  9. Adil Jamal-avatar

Wonderful, awesome, simple & small! Yet full of features that a humongous player can boast! One of the matchless features is its ability to parse / process CUE sheets (chapters) embedded even in LOSSY audio formats like OPUS, AAC, MPC, OGG (these are tested; I embedded them using desktop version of foobar2000)! However external CUE sheets are not parsed, which the developers are highly requested to include. Anyway, great thanks to developers!

Great, lightweight player that can handle many file types. My only complaint, and it's a big one for me, is that there is no shuffle by album for playlists. I like to throw a bunch of albums I'm in the mood for into big playlists then shuffle only those albums. This app doesn't let me do that.

  11. Ede Kovacs-avatar

One of the best players around in sound quality. Minimalist interface, that just works, could be a bit more friendly though. However: on a Mi8 I can't add widgets. It freezes the whole launcher and nothing is added :( serious drawback for me.

  12. Mukamuka Sector-avatar

My favourite android player by far, however it's insanely glitchy and can get pretty unstable. Most of the widgets don't even work properly. If this app ran smoothly it would be an easy 5 stars.

  13. Martijn J-avatar

Nice app to play your audio files. Except the function 'repeat single track' is missing. Only way to ensure that is playing a track from a file explorer outside from this app.

  14. OwMyLehg-avatar

I love it, my only issue is that it cannot use .fpl files. It is a little annoying. It functions well though. A solid 4 star app.

  15. Laurin Lidl-avatar

Best app for sorting songs. It doesn't change the file names so albums with songs labelled A-Z or 1-10 finally appear in the right order. Also the interface is clean and intuitive.

  16. Pieshka-avatar

It's great since moto forgot to put basic apps on the phone, but it needs the ability to bring up just artists. Song with artists mix in the unknown artist list because the album is blank

The player is almost perfect. I misses proper shuffle function - the playlist is shuffled but it is the same order every time. Also, it would be nice to add the function that deletes dead items (no longer existing) from a playlist.

Recent update my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 pro foobar200 would close itself always stop the music even if I don't do anything please fix the random shutdown of this app I've been experiencing the same bug for the past days when I update to the latest patch

  19. Goran Markovic-avatar

There is no better application for playing music. Supports every known format, supports media servers. User interface is easy to use and does what you expect.

  20. Travis Bryant-avatar

Interface is a bit sparse, but playback of media is very good. I use DBPoweramp to rip and encode to MP3 using replay gain. I used to use VLC for playback but would get horrible static and feedback.

  21. 5000 CENT-avatar

pretty good app. lots of useful features. wish i could queue albums or playlists. not as intuitive as my last player, dont know how to get to the track bar/now playing.

  22. Jowie Aytona-avatar

excellent sound quality. I've been using this app since release. my only problem is the lack of library sorting. almost hard to find the songs i want to play at the moment.

  23. Patrick Moran-avatar

Something happened lately that causes app to crash. Especially when playback controls are showing. I sent an email to report the issue a week ago. No reply yet.

  24. Rino Jones-avatar

Everything works as it should. Play FLAC files on your phone! Pretty sure I sent a donation for the mobile app dev back in the day. Shouts to the devs. <3

  25. Mark Z. XU-avatar

Lagacy from last century, but still taking tje lead. Most important of all, it's still free with loads of options. Look no futher and use foobar2000

  26. Nikolay-avatar

Do not understand Cyrillic charset in tags and names. Never seen such error in PC version.

  27. Addiel Ponce-avatar

I think this app has really useful functions. Please, i would like you add true peak replay scan!

  33. Harry Sholer-avatar

The best music player on any platform, hands down

Excellent, but missing a proper shuffle album function (you still have to pick a first song?) and a go to album/artist option when playing a song. EQ is very good, even better than my paid Shuttle app, but some missing features makes me have to go back and forth. However, the PC version has been my go-to for a long time, replacing WinAmp. Keep supporting the developer!

Best audio player in the world. I'm using it last 5 years. Without serious competition. It has to improve reading and playing from OneDrive, Dropbox, Box,... and similar cloud destinations. Also, user interface could be better (nicer and less complicated).

Used it about a year ago and had serious stability problems. I have been trying it again for some time now and haven't had any issues so far. This player has one job: making you enjoy your music, and it does it well. Navigating is quite logical, the buttons are large, making playlists is easy, reads tag info they it's supposed to... It may not make you enjoy looking at your phone but really, if you want to have easy access to your music and play it: this is it. I won't be looking any further.

  38. Derek Thieret-avatar

Best music app until recent update. 03/16/2020 update causes music to randomly play/pause when I do not want it to which is quite frustrating. Hopefully it wil be fixed soon but do not update to that version if you aren't forced to

  39. Simon Esposito-avatar

The cleanest interface of any player I've tried, and one of only two I ever found (when I was comparing them all a couple of years ago) to have TRULY gapless playback. Most players that claim to be gapless still have a small glitch or pop between continuous-play tracks. Metadata is elegantly displayed with adaptive font across the three lines of information (title, performer, album). At one stage it was a little buggy, but updates over the last six months seem to have got it fully cleaned up.

  40. Wandering Poet-avatar

I got this player because it has the rare ability to read and catalogue files from an external USB storage device on a tablet. Does that well. UI a bit basic, but all works fine, plays FLAC, Inc 24bit, AAC, good Equaliser with many channels, just the job, and it's a small point but many of the hi-fi players out there lock the screen in portrait format with the USB port at the bottom which is quite inconvenient if you are using that to plug in a memory. This one allows the normal swivel functions

  41. Kiki Heee-avatar

The app is okay but like other reviewers have mentioned lacks some control and features. My main gripe is that when I first downloaded this app I was able to control playback of audio from the lockscreen like Google music app, and for some reason this keeps getting disabled, reinstalling temporarily fixed this but it reverts back to not bring able to be managed from lockscreen. Serious issue

  42. Sola Vi Ryuvia-avatar

Foobar2000 keeps stopping Before most recent update was perfect but now it auto crashes instantly and endlessly. I'm sure it will be fixed soon so normally i would say 5 star but for now 4 till fixed.

  43. dylan ure-avatar

Amazing app. Minimalstic interface (but easy to use). Only complaint is that if theres a feature on an album. The album gets split in 2 parts. The original band's album, and the band album but with the collaborator.

  44. DFKT-avatar

Randomly stops playback for no reason, then restarts from the beginning of the track. Playback also becomes choppy and stuttering from time to time, until the app is brought again to the foreground.

  45. Sami K-avatar

Minimalistic controls makes this app easy to use compared to Poweramp. High-res audio playback is better than Poweramp. I recommend it for it's simplicity, quality and it's free and no ad's or pop-ups, for now at least. 5/5

  46. I'm Rich-avatar

Can't stop play after pause. Really annoying when start play again after minute .Long press (stop) dosnt work too. On PC best audio soft 🤔

  48. Thomas Houston-avatar

Thank you for fixing the Android/Pixel notification area inverted image issue in the latest release! Love this app.

  49. Aidan Lisak-avatar

Am I missing it or is there no repeat one option? I want to play the same song on a loop and not got to the next song

  60. persona grata-avatar

Not even close to the original desktop application. The interface is barely managable, lacks controls on the main screen, otherwise obvious, completely counter-intuitive. The app is also unable to stop properly, poorly behaves when minimized or playing in the background. Such a disappointment, this one is. A perfect example of what looks like an unfinished project or a failed attempt to clone a proper piece of software and make use of it's title.

The obvious choice for my phone since I used it for Windows many years. I consider it perfect except from two things: When listening to very long tracks, like podcasts at >1 h, it's hard to rewind just 10 seconds or so. There should be some +/- 5 or 10 sec buttons. Also, it should be easier to quickly adjust the volume. The media volume steps on the phone are usually too few, so this is important. Otherwise it's a joy to use this app.

  65. Samantha Lake-avatar

Easily the best audio player I've ever used on an Android device. Replaced all my other players. It is simple, straightforward, performs exactly as advertised with no bugs or ads. Recommended by a friend and far superior to any other apps.

  66. Rhienne C.-avatar

It's a pretty good app, setting out what its PC conterpart does really well in a compact package. I do have, admittedly, two gripes however. One, it doesn't have gapless playback, which is a promised feature with the PC version, but apparently not here. It would make an amazing quality of life feature, but anyways. Two, no random selection. You're only given shuffle and repeat. This bugs me as it's a small feature in the original program, and it just be a nice addition. That's all.

  67. SirDella-avatar

It crashed during the first setup, the replay gain didn't work, probably because it couldn't write to the SD card, the desktop version worked and I love it, thank you so much

  68. birbohex-avatar

It used to work great on my phone! Untill it didn't allow me to add music, at all. It doesn't allow me to access folders or downloads from either the internal storage nor an SD card. It could be a glitch, but this has happened on more than one device for me. Basically it doesn't do the one thing it is made for, being a local audio player.

Make the layout either easier to manage or MUCH more like the original pc version. Specifically, please allow adding and removing folders like pc foobar, and allow selecting music to be more user friendly. Another concern is the difficulty of adding songs to playlists- I can't figure it out but that's far from a priority. Thank you though, i wish components could be added as well, but just keep doing your best!

  70. Altron-avatar

The app itself is great, just a few things that's prevent me from giving this a 5. The shuffle button is preordered, what I mean if I choose the same song in a playlist with shuffle on, no matter what it always play the same order of songs, only time it changes is when you add a new song to the playlist. My final issue is that I cant rename the playlists I created. IDK if it's my phone or the app but I check ever setting but no luck. Other then those it's great, I can listen to my .FLAC's

  71. Oleg Sobakin-avatar

Thank you for adding Meier's crossfeed plugin dsp

  72. Mike W-avatar

I really like this app. It's incredibly fast, offers a ton of accessibility and customization albeit with a couple issues. I'm on the LG V50 and im going to compare this to the default music player on the phone. First very minor issue is album art doesn't always show but will on the default music app. And the other issue was how 24bit flacs are processed. At low volume I get this hissing sound whereas on the default music app I don't. Damn near perfect app for my needs but needs little tweeking.

I like this music player. Very minimalist design and straight forward on the very useful features. I have used pulsar on my previous phone Vibe X3 and it was great. After changing my phone to Mi A3 the sound output is not that great because it doesn't have Dolby Atmos feature just like the Vibe X3 that's why I ended up downloading this one and is working great on my Mi A3. I have foobar on my Pc too. I just rated 5 star because I have no enough $$$ to donate. Thanks to the developer.

Really love Foobar, use it on my phone as well on my PC. Was really happy with it, tho after switching from my Galaxy S5 to a Note 10 it often 'crashes' when it's not the last app I had open before locking the screen, but unsure if that's a Foobar issue or if it's because of the Note 10 and it's idiotic battery saving.

So tired of this app randomly starting at work and making me look like an idiot with music blasting at full volume. Disconnect bluetooth headset I was listening to music on while it's still playing? Music blasts from phone speakers at full volume. Take a call without a headset with the app open but no music playing? Music blasts from phone speakers at full volume after the call, even at 0% volume. Completely ridiculous, and inappropriate, avoid this app at all costs. PC app is good though.

  77. Ed Guy-avatar

I've been using this for a while now. Fantastic, gapless playback and very compact design. One big issue is that I can't control playback from the lock screen. Tried everything, I think... please add this in a future update. My device is a Huawei P8 Lite

  78. Dominic Covolo-avatar

Really nice features, the only downside being that it shuts itself down constantly.

  79. Jacob Yorgey-avatar

only issue is my my text doesn't come through on bluetooth with note 9 after i disconnect and then reconnect. it did not have this issue with my note 4 Edit:Lots more issues with my note 9 and when the screen goes off the audio stops playing. I love this app when it works

  80. daniel moore-avatar

works okay except for it keeps pausing for no reason. and I must have album art tagged on my laptop before I load it to mobile. I just got a new phone and now it won't download. I don't know what the problem is.

  81. CURTIS8516-avatar

Excellent music player, by far the best one for Android, BUT: It feels very clinical, white or black are the only themes and download more is totally impossible - please add more colours or themes, or maybe themes based on the colour of the related album art.

  82. Joshua Lewis-avatar

I have no trouble working this app. Tips to those experiencing problems: 1) Have your sample rate adjusted correctly. 2) Try downsampling to mono so you can isolate problem frequencies easier, then switch back to stereo to test your adjustments. This usually produces a more clear output. 3) Don't touch EQ if you have no clue what you are doing. A common misconception is to raise the EQ when you should lower it to reduce peaking or distortion. Volume gives you the ability to hear things better, EQ gives the sound better quality.

  83. Richard Harris-avatar

Works great mostly and, with a Foobar server installed on the Windows version, I can download tracks from PC to mobile. All else works fine except for one annoying thing, and that's Bluetooth. When I transmit from mobile to any Bluetooth player with a display it doesn't display the correct information, usually showing wrong artist and track. Very often it doesn't display anything at all. In my car, for instance, it just says "Bluetooth Paused", even though it is playing tracks fine. Not had this with any other Android media player. Would be great to get it fixed; then it would be 5 stars.

  84. James Tabang-avatar

As most of my music have been processed in the PC, I do not notice any difference in most of the DSPs, except for the very impressive and ever-reliable equalizer. Interface and accessibility both need serious massive improvement: 1. The "Now Playing" song is not readily accessible in any of the menus. You have to navigate to the song list to find it. 2. The DSP menu (at least the EQ itself) is not available in the Now Playing interface and/or menu. 3. There is no short-hand feature (like an arrow) to sort the songs by artist, album, title, or genre. 4. Unlike the PC version, there is no Visualizer, not even a simple waterfall or equalizer bands. 5. Extremely limited options in the context menu of the song list; that is, only Create Playlist and Decoding Speed Test (not even sure what its use for) are only available. 6. Playlist interface: there is no option to add new songs to that currently viewed playlist 7. Style and Genre interfaces: there is no option to view ALL songs in a single list (not separated by artist and album) 8. Cannot view nor edit file properties, song info, or tags in any of the menus 9. No feature to Queue songs/albums/artists/genres (without creating a playlist) 10. No option to delete a file from the phone storage 11. No option to export a playlist into the phone storage (as .m3u or .m3u8) 12. Cannot detect and read an .m3u playlist file saved in the phone storage 13. Cannot view and edit .m3u playlist 14. No option to shuffle the songs when viewing an Album 15. No option to edit song details and change album art in Now Playing interface 16. this is a pretty good free to use player that can use flac files and other odd types of music files in general. I think the layout could be better(it feels cluttered), but for a free player with no advertisements, I think it's a good app they made. if you come from the pc music player, it doesnt have all the features(at least from what I'm aware of) like audio conversion, song splitting and attaching song info(like titles naming).

Best player to have, with some small problems: there's no way to listen all of the artists albums in a chronological order, unless you make a playlist. you have shuffle albums, but why not all albums sorted by year? and once you use the shuffle albums, leave to check something else in the collection, you can't get back to the songs currently in your active playlist, it just disappears. other than that, nothing to complaint

I love the interface but periodically the sound is like a cheap tape player from the 80s. It suddenly jumps and screeches forward a few seconds. Another reviewer alluded to this too.

It's good. I love it, like I love the win version. However, for me the mobile version has one really bothersome weakness and that is a bug when it comes to the controls. In shuffle mode, sometimes it keeps restarting the same song when I press next. It eventually gets to the next song after a few clicks, but that is not good enough for me when I'm out running. Without this bug, it would be a clear 5/5. It is also refreshing with a completely free app. Cred to the creators!

Aside from everything else people have mentioned, THIS PLAYS FLAC OVER BLUETOOTH! The only other ad free player I could find that does this is VLC player which lacks way to many important features. Also, swiping left on any menu will take you to the Now Playing menu, although this is not made clear (I discovered it by accident). So ignore those reviews saying there is no way to get to the now playing menu. They just didn't find it.

Pretty good player, but a few missing details make it less usable +: + thank you for not using the MediaStore (my phone has problems keeping that updated) + great minimalist UI -: - playlists are crippled by the fact that you can't add songs to anything but the last created playlist, it seems - it would be better if you could edit existing playlist files on the filesystem (e.g. m3u), not just play them - I'd like to see a shuffle tracks or shuffle albums at every point in library navigation.

This is an excellent example of how to make a music player (and much more). However, rather than dwell on features, of which there's several, and also NO ADS, I want to focus on the sound of this app which is incredibly good. It betters the stock Samsung and other players like the TEAC by a margin, and plays more audio formats too. Excellent, look forward to watching development of this great app.

I like it for the ReplayGain functionality and the equalizer. I DON'T like the playlists, they desperately need some improvements! 1) selecting a track and them choosing from a full list of playlists to add it to (rather than only seeing the last playlist you were 'in') 2) the functionality for re-ordering tracks within playlists is basically rubbish and HORRIFICALLY SLOW! 3) it would be ace to have a direct shuffle play option from WITHIN playlists

Pretty much just as good as the desktop client but I have found that it will randomly pause music when my phone goes into sleep mode. Fix this and its a 5 star app

This is becoming my go-to app on Android for listening to my offline music collection, primarily because it can play all my files. The only other app I've found that can play all my files is VLC. For 99% of users, I'd recommend a different player. Pi Music Player and Musicolet are both great apps for offline listening and can play most files. If those other apps are giving you some problems, though, or if you're interested in some other DSP options, then give foobar2000 a try.

As perfect as the PC version, with one massive caveat: It crashes when exceeding one hour of play time (perhaps it's still that bug with android closing background apps) and continuously crashes when opened after that. Force stopping in settings closes the notification-bar controls, but only uninstalling and reinstalling makes it useable again. I'm doing it for the third time. xD

I mostly love foobar2k. However, As a yoga teacher, I find some difficulties with managing and real time usage of playlists. 3 things stand out: having a way to copy a playlist so I can modify it while keeping the original; being able to export from one device to another; and having some way to temporarily queue up tracks WITHOUT creating a playlist. As it is, it feels like once I have a playlist it is cast in concrete. I would like a little bit more flexibility

Best music player for Android that I have found so far. Plays Flac, mp3, mp4-aac files. Plays an album folder. Plays my externally built m3u playlists as well as its own internally built playlists. i like the UI as it is intuitive and functional. The only weakness I can comment on is its inability to use an SMBv2 Win10 shared folder. I can get this functionality by using X-plore app to access the share and navigate to target folder and then play using Foobar and not the built in default p!ayer.

It's Foobar2000 for your phone. It's literally the best music player ever created for PC and now it's available for your android device. Tons of customization, add-ons, stability and constant updates and support from the devs and community. These devs have worked hard on this player for years and it absolutely shows. Also, it's free and did I mention the best? Download and start using Foobar2000 so you can stop using other inferior players.

I absolutely love foobar2000, it has a stripped down interface that is extremely quick, and has all sorts of advanced tools and metadata options that music fanatics like me love! To be honest, the only thing that would make this app completely perfect is if it had an option to add song(s)/album(s) to what is currently playing instead of just saved playlists. Other than that I have never had any problems, totally would recommend as a quick and robust music player!

This is the best music player by far both on PC and Android to be used with wired hedaphones. If only you do not stumble across "Critical playback error: Open SL error: 3". This continues to happen to me since Android 8 and another phone (hell even another car) used. Any bluetooth device may cause this error (even a goddamned audio bluetooth) at any possible time, debug console says nothing, foobar2k forums are empty, same with e-mail contact. Aside from that, as mentioned above, the best music player on the market and PC, if you don`t hit the same error as me.
