Floater is a fake location app, that runs from a floating window, allowing easy access to other apps.

Fake the location on your phone to any place in the world. This app set up a fake GPS location so other apps thinks you are there. You can be in New York, Paris, London etc.

Designed for developers to properly test their apps that use and track gps information without the need to lock on a GPS signal. Useful when you want to add a geolocation to a photo if you forgot to turn on location when you were taking it. Can also be used as a prank app - any foul/wrong usage will not be supported by our team.

The floating functionality is super useful so you don't need to constantly change apps as you develop your software.

How to:

1. Grant "draw over other apps" permission to enable floating functionality.
2. Enable the Developer settings on your device(on older versions it is not needed)(See tutorial on how to enable this).
3. Enable mock locations or select this app as mock location app. In the developer options select "Allow mock locations".
4. Set your location to "GPS ONLY"(or "Device only") for best results.
5. Resize the window or minimize it so you can view your app, drag the black bars to move the window.
6. Start the app and move the map to where you want to fake your location. The green dot indicates where you want to be.
7. Select the play button to start faking your location.
8. To stop the fake location click on the stop button not the pause button.

Features:

- Location history
- Save Locations to Favorites
- Change notification look (text, description, buttons, show/hide icon, hide from status bar)
- mock GPS coordinate to the service provider.
- Create, save and import/export routes (GPX/KML)
- Set fixed/random accuracy
- Set fixed/random speed
- Add different map tiles
- Use gyro to move the map
- Network mode, control location of other Floater users on the same network

Permission needed for this app:

- Access Coarse and Fine Location - to fake your current location
- Location - needed for when you want to show your real location on the map
- Internet - to display the map
- Storage - needed for when you want to export or import GPX/KML files

Notice:

- There is no need to turn the GPS on, but for best results turn it on and disable "high accuracy" and change it to "GPS ONLY"(or "Device only")
- This app requires you to have play services and maps installed.
- We do not encourage you to use this app together with non complying apps.
- If the app behaves strangely, clear and update GPS data and restart the device.
- Run this app first before the app you are faking so it will receive coordinates from this app and not from the real sensor
- Disable "Use wireless networks" options in Location settings in order to avoid problems where you will keep receiving fake locations even after stopping the app.
- Since this is a floating service, the app may get killed by the Android OS if you are running low on memory or running too many apps. Make sure run this app when you have lots of memory and/or running a few apps to get the best results.
- This app is catergorised as a tool to help developers properly test apps with location functionalities. Also works with Tasker, Command line and through Intents. See tutorial for more info.

Needs improved instructions, on Android 11 you have to enable developer mode first and manually enable the mock location app. Worked somewhat ok after tho Google maps was very jittery. Also, it doesn't seem to find any of the GPX files saved on my device.

Does what it's supposed to do. Lots of options, although I really dont use many of them. Seems to run well, especially under android pie. Two things that are preventing me from giving it 5 stars: 1) Search doesn't seem to work (I always get ERROR:request_denied) 2) I would love it if there was a map scale displayed. Other than that, this is a very useful utility.

This is a great app, when it functions. For the last few weeks, I've been getting constant "query limit reached" errors no matter when I use it. Location search is basically broken at this point.

May 4 update still does not work in LG G8 Android 10...used to work in 9.0 and I paid for it 😂. Mode 1/3 block other apps like Google Map to use location. Mode 2 works once then Map goes to current instead of fake location

Over all it's a great app, and fun to play with. However lately, samsung 10+, wo t fully work. Says I have to go to dev settings. I try to open dev settings and app crashes. Any tips?

It worked wonders at first. I loved it. Then suddenly stopped working. Kept teleporting me back to my actual location

  7. Draigiel Will-avatar

Doesnt seem to work for pokemon, tried lots of settings, enabled the developer, set it to this app, ect, moves the character to the location and back and forth to your real one.

  8. Axel Foley-avatar

Can't use it, the settings menu doesn't explain what is what (full of weird obscure stuff), so you're not sure if it's on or off or working or not. No way to know what it's doing. The settings menu is all over the shop, can't know.

Amazing little app! I've been using this for around a year while I've been developing an app as a side project for myself. It's allowed me to test a number of location aware features of my app without traveling to my workplace at 2am just to see if I've squished that annoying bug for example. It's been a total time saver for myself and I can totally recommend this app to anyone who needs to use a mock location. The low rating imo is down to people who have no idea about how the app actually works or people who were unable to get the app working with various games that require the user to visit various locations but didn't realise you needed root to fully hide the fact you are cheating in the game.. Please, ignore the low rating and just give it a go. I was not disappointed and neither are the other users I recommended the app to. Thank you to the Dev, you have been a total timer saver. I'll be mentioning your app in the credits for my app, it would have taken me 20x as long to finish the location aware components without Floater. Also, I'd have gladly donated more to get the adverts removed, not that they were intrusive, more so to support a fellow developer out. Not all apps have a huge team behind them. Small donations can help out more than people realise. I was using a crappy £6 broken keyboard until I had a few donations through. My new keyboard helped productivity out and I was very grateful of that fact.

Works fantastically. Can't fault it at all. Reading some of the reviews below makes me want to be able to virtually slap people with a wet fish though. Either people too stupid to know how to use the app despite clear and concise instructions, to people with the temerity to demand a reply or they'll drop their review to 1*. I swear this planet needs a major cull of these retards and reprobates, half the time the phone they're using is smarter than they are and to display such entitlement that they demand replies? Truly makes my blood boil. Anyway Devs, good work, just a damn shame you seem to have got a load of empty headed numpties download your app and giving your poor reviews simply because they themselves are too dumb to use it.
