Downwell is a curious game about a young boy venturing down a well in search of untold treasures with only his Gunboots to protect him. Make your way further and further down into the darkness filled with nasty creatures and mysterious secrets to collect the spectacular red gems scattered about the rocks. Step into precariously placed shops and buy some helpful items or level up between levels to battle well-dwelling monsters and uncover hidden caves filled with riches and relics. No two trips down the well are ever the same! A recommended game by me. It has nice retro music, while you fight all kinds of enemies. The different play styles, and palettes are also fun to use while playing. They make playing a tad more interesting. I liked the different upgrades which add the spice to the game; finishing off the good game recipe. It 's so cool to stomp on your enemies, and make this huge explosion. This game may be hard at first, but it is definetly a great game, in my opinion.

Probably my favourite mobile game ever. It is extremely difficult but rewarding, and super addictive. It had crashed on me a couple times, but those times were few and far between each other. It's worth every penny I spent on it. Now the game is perfect, but the app itself is not. Google Play is constantly loading while starting the game or anytime you turn your phone off and back on while playing. There have also been times the game has completely crashed for no reason. Great game, okay app.

Very much worth its price. Controls are smooth and responsive, gameplay is satisfying and fast-paced, and the graphics are attractive and clear. Some problems: When there's lots of particles, the game slows down a little. Even when the onscreen buttons are off, it's hard to see enemies coming. You 'bounce' when you hit the ground, which helps make landing on enemies less difficult, but can also prevent you from jumping how you would expect. Overall, I recommend this game.

The game is dope but I wish the controls at the bottom could be moved lower. Either that or the game screen could be zoomed out some to make it easier to see what's coming. I have a large phone and even on that it's very difficult to tell what's coming with my thumbs on the controls. I don't want to imagine how hard it must be on normal sized or small phones. Being able to zoom out the game screen some would probably be the best solution.

Freaking' amazing game! Plays a lot like a faster, more intense, more difficult, and backwards version of Tower Fortress by Keybol. Instead of climbing a tower with a MetroidVania kind of feel and an epic blaster arm cannon, you're falling down a well shooting literal bullets from your feet. The graphics are excellent, maximizing the minimal look by adding smooth, impressive animation and surprising detail to the 8 bit, game boy style graphics. Hectic and challenging beyond belief, still can't male it past level 2-1, but I just bought it. I'm especially relieved to find a game that doesn't have ads or relentless attempts at portraying half dressed characters as a means of drawing people in. The quality of the game does that instead. I'm grateful there's not blood everywhere like so many other games use to amp up the intensity. The quality of the action does that instead. While blood and pornography both have massive audiences, not everybody wants that. Thank you for making a clean game with some fantastic fun and replay value. This is a true gem amongst many unpolished stones. The only thing I might personally suggest is the ability to alter the graphics further and even the audio. What if additional sound effects and full sprite changes and upgrades became high end unlockables? Or even unlocking different songs you can set as the background music? What if you could unlock a 16 bit pallet that beautifies the game more and makes it more accessible to more audiences? A lot of people have fond memories of 16 bit days.

Simple, intuitive, multi purpose mechanics make this a unique game on the app store. You jump to shoot and shoot to jump in this seemingly bottomless well of increasingly difficult hazards. Success requires twitchy reaction time and going with the game's flow, you can go down the well slowly but this will mess up your combos and gem meter. This is my favorite game I've downloaded on the play store.

Discovered this little gem during the latest PSN Flash Sale. So good, had to get it on my phone as well. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because physical controls are much better for a game like this (imho) but it's still surprisingly playable on a touchscreen. Great style (if you're into that retro look) and SUPER ADDICTIVE! This is really a game that has me saying "just one more.." and first thing I know, two hours have gone by. Highly recommended

Perfect game. Every aspect of Downwell ties into making the main gameplay mechanic enjoyable. Despite being intrinsically super hard, with deaths that seem random during the first plays, the game becomes manageable and fair once you get better at handling the character and exploiting the various, greatly designed power ups and level elements. It meshes the best of old-school and modern game design. Definitely a steal at that price.

Has potential but several design flaws. The game is very replayable thanks to Rogue like map and enemies but unfortunately some enemy design and hit detection is a bit suspect. I also suggest getting this game on pc rather than mobile version because this game require physical controller for better control and reaction. the touch control is not perfect and it's pretty common for me to hit the wrong button.
