While watching a downloaded show you can't get back to the menu or anywhere else in the app. When you hit the back arrow, it exits the app and does NOT save your place in the video. So you have to log back into the app and try to remember where you were. This needs to be fixed.

    now Change from 1 star to 4 stars after installing the latest app update in addition to my service provider OTA update, the live stream now works perfectly. Previously the live stream had sound but no picture on my Oneplus 7T Pro McLaren. Will give the fifth star if the directv other features/options work properly.

    phone number It says I have to be connected to the network my receiver is connected to in order to watch the MLB network that I pay for. If I was at my receiver I would be watching it on my TV, not my phone. This defeats the purpose of having this app.

    channels 10/7: Another update yesterday and now episodes play, commerical plays, then episode starts over. Trash. Not to mention the app still won't connect to my genie and all of the channels that I subscribe to never show.

    internet Can't do much right. A giant collection of bugs. It performs horribly on a high latency network - as in satellite... Now just what kind of network would one have if you are using satellite for TV??? Worse yet, you need to connect your DVR to your network to use this app. If you don't block the DVR from using your internet, it will suck up all of your allocated data and bandwidth. Why have satellite TV if you are going to get your content via the internet???

    I used to enjoy watching/listening to t.v. on my phone and desktop. All year, nothing but problems with Streaming. On my phone, (Foxnews Channel).. complained many times..worse. On my phone, even though I have been watching or listening, I get messages like "this channel is not included in your package". On my computer, the same message, "install Direc TV Player, "Free in your pkg...sorry this program not available to stream on your computer", or pc must be joined to same ntwk as reciever.

    The system device decides about once a week that it needs to be rebooted at the DVR so we're not watching shows for approximately 10 to 15 ,20 minutes will this thing happens. I have never had this issue with Cox. The Direct TV app is paiiiinfully slow to load and engage, most times once I am in and loaded, the system tells me that "program not available at this time".     App works well if you want to set your DVR to record something when you're not home . DirecTV started going down hill after AT&T bought them. Prices are too high for the service that you get , but when you don't have a cable provider in rural areas you are stuck between the two satellite TV providers. Then they Add and Remove channels on your package when they want to, you will have a channel for a couple of weeks then it's not there anymore.

    App won't open!!! UPDATE: Finally opens, but won't let me live stream all the channels I get, even when sitting in a part of my house that doesn't have a television. Oh, and if I want to watch FOX5, I get CBS9; and I can't get ABC7 at all (still in my house). I wonder how horribly this would perform if I wanted to live stream somewhere else locally. SMH. Really disappointed. I feel as if I'm being forced to watch what DirecTV wants me to watch. Mind you, I'm paying for this!

    This app is and has been for a while the worst live streaming TV app I have used. Update: Still the worst app ever. It is a pain in the ass to connect with you're DVR. If I pay for a service, why am I restricted on when I can fast forward on recorded shows or why do I have to watch ads even though I pay for the service of a paid subscription. AT&T has and always will be a terrible company.

    Used to be a perfect 5 star app (ie. last summer), then AT&T got their hands on it. Now my DVR won't broadcast to phone from LAN hardwire. I figured out it will over WiFi, however, now it only broadcasts movies and none of my regularly recorded programs. Unless phone is also on WiFi at my house, then all of them instantly show up, so AT&T has clearly decided to intentionally block these. If I'm at my house, why in the hell would I want to watch these programs on my phone instead of 1 of my TVs?

    Whoever made this app should be fired. Its clunky, resource hogging and buggy. When on an ATT wifi, it will not load and shows "communication error". When not on wifi, I have to shutdown and start 3 times each time to get past the 15 minutes "authorizing" spinning wheel. When a channel is selected you must press "watch this show" through two different windows to actually watch it. And the worst part, it's default channel at start up is CNN. Do yourselves a favor, directtv. Trash this.

    Love this app. That was my first review now that I've had it a while it's one of the worst apps? You would think such a big company would have a App that actually works and doesn't cut you off saying no internet when you have all bars then puts movie or TV show in the download queue but doesn't download it? So frustrating...... I try and try to use it every once in awhile it will actually download shows and I get all excited then it stops working? Please fix it I would like to be able to use it.

    Not a good app at all. It is constantly freezing and closing. I was hoping when I got a new phone with 5g that it would improve, but it hasn't. This really is a terrible app. Now I'm getting a notification that I can't watch because the show is being blocked out for content! It's an MSNBC news show I watch every day.

    Worthless Virtually any content worth watching is blacked out. And take your TV anywhere??? Not even close, you have to be connected to your home wireless network to watch the few things that aren't blacked out. Why would you watch something on your phone or tablet when you at home where you have a TV??? Seriously thinking about dropping directv altogether, they aren't even trying anymore.

    Just horrible! I left a 3 star in 2018 but I haven't been able to use this app for anything. Never recognizes my login. I have to have them do something on the back end to clear it up and I hate talking to them. Same issue when trying to connect to other apps using my login, even though I know the login in correct.

    This app is the worst. At one time it didn't recognize my password, and had to change it every couple of weeks, now even after it's changed and ACCEPTED it doesn't recognize it. So the site has become useless. I've been on the phone over 5 hrs to get it luck.

    The App is a nice addition to DirecTV and usally works well. The interface is clean and user friendly and even includes the channel logos in the guide which are no longer available on the home version of DirecTV. That interface is old and needs a serious refresh and lags way behind those offered by Dish Network, Verizon FIOS, etc.

    I can never connect to reciever even when I'm at home next to it so I've never been able to enjoy my recorded shows. I dont have the ability to view all regular channels only abc 30 stays at the top of guide when viewing on phone. Can not view channel 18 26 71 etc. If I search them it tells me I'm not connected although I am.

    Terrible i pay over 200$ a month and i have to watch commercials.(what) when the app works. pay an extra 50$ a month for the NFL package and i cant watch a football game on my phone. you guys really need to fix this . There is a reason people go to Netflix and Amazon for tv watching . Im only keeping you for the movie channels and local tv . But i guess jokes on me . Because YOU GUYS SUCK ( drirectv)

    I've had direct for years as many others have to. But this app has always been hit or miss. Either it works right sometimes or it doesn't work at all most times. I've already spent more time trying to get it to communicate with my dtv equipment than I should have to. Finally communicating with my home dtv equipment and it still doesn't work right. Deleting the app as soon as this review is done. Maybe i will give it a try again in a few months. Back to Netflix now.

    Absolutely worst experience using this app. So many things are wrong with it that I am planning to disconnect directtv completely. If you starts show from the start and see a notification, the show starts from the beginning again. No way to skip ahead. Channel browse feature is buggy. Random names and shows most of the time. Going to fullscreen, on the small phone screen, causes crashes or the image doesn't become full screen for almost 10 minutes. No way to record shows on to the phone.

    Time to move on from DirecTV/AT&T. I am so frustrated. I have tried for weeks to log on to multiple devices using the DirectTV app. Nothing. I have done everything I can possibly do to get it to work with no luck. Calling technical support is no help. It sounds like i am not the only person having this issue. PLEASE AT&T get your $%&# together and fix your log on protocol to make it so people who pay a high price can actually use the service. From: A 20 year customer who may not make it to 21.

    Would give less than 1 star if possible. Makes you re-watch advertising if you lose your spot no matter how many times you've viewed the advertising or how long you've sat through advertising, its ridiculous. Every other app that has ads in their streaming has figured out how to make sure the viewer does not have to rewatch ads it ruins the experience of being able to stream a show/movie, yours hasn't. Figure it out.

    Is the website down? I really can not log on to my account. No one knows anything when I call.. Cant express enough how much trouble this app has been. Couldnt sign on for about 2 years. Then when I was finally able to sign in (about 3 months ago) it was all good until about 2 weeks ago when I tried to pay my bill. Now all I get is BAD REQUEST. I'm so done with this app.

    Total frustration with att, direct TV, and the app. Unable to solve a simple problem for over a year. Had a credit card expire and attempts to update to a current card were unsuccessful until I called customer service and talk to a representative. App sent me into endless circles with no resolution for this simple issue. Can't wait for my contract to expire and get back on cable. Terrible.

    I have never been able to get the direct tv app to work on any of my windows computers s. Bought a cheap $100 android that i bought wanting for the surface duo to come out. The app worked great! Moved all my apps over to the surface duo when I finally got the Surface duo. Now the app only plays the audio without the video.

    If you start watching a recorded show on your TV then try to finish it on your phone the app forces you to start from the beginning and doesn't allow you to fast forward to where you left off. Can't wait for my contract to end next month so i can switch to cable. ATT loses millions of subs per month. Keep blaming your customers instead of fixing your problems.

    Worst modern application I've ever used at managing download speed and quality. Constantly buffers or quits working altogether. Application has not evolved much over the years. Too many service rules such as regional or channel not available or inability to download and watch. That said, if I had this app and service 10 years ago, I would have been thrilled. Performance continues to disappoint. Downgrading to 2 stars to see if anyone at directv or AT&T cares

    Consistently freezes when leaving video and returning to menu. Regularly has issues loading video to begin with. Often locks up when using search feature. These issues are on my home wifi. Its unusable on a mobile network. I pay $230+ a month for my service package. You'd think with my money combined with the millions of others paying monthly they could make a better app. Would give 0 stars if I could.

    I signed in for the 1st time and was on for less than 5 minutes. When I went to use it later it told me it didn't recognize my iP address on the receiver. It gave me instructions on how to find the address and the function that it told me to use is not there. Not that I'm surprised, they offer lots of things but don't seem to want you to use them and their customer support is laughable.

    What the point of having the app. If you cant pay your bill on it and then when you to the website as redirected. It always tells you can't log in error or incorrect info when it's never changed. This is why I want to get rid of DirectTV and go strictly internet less stress. Well tried to pay my bill. Created an AT&T password again. Told to log out and log in to my single DirectTV account and won't take it, keeps refreshing. So till its fixed I guess you won't get my payments.

    This app takes over 2 minutes to load every time you start, and then you're lucky if you get to watch TV for 2 minutes before it kicks you out and you have to start all over again. This is over wi-fi and data. Also, if you want to watch something on your DVR when you're away from home, you can't fast-forward. My sister has Dish and doesn't have either of these problems.

    Too many upsetting features to describe. Ridiculously hard to navigate. Simple functions like keyword searches unflinchingly rigid and give zero support. They seemingly pick and choose what live TV one can watch and it makes one wonder if it's not by design. At the end of the day logic would dictate if they are providing me an app for me to watch directv then the access to the television I PAY FOR should not be limited. Things like this is why they will eventually lose out to streaming services

    For about the past month or 2, on several different devices, there is no video on the live TV. Only audio with a blank black screen. Hopefully a future update will fix this. Update: several months later, and still the same problem. Channels put out audio, but only a blank black screen.

    Horrible. Autoplays CNN when I login which is annoying, not because its CNN, but because I don't necessarily want a show to start playing when I'm just trying to check something. Doesn't connect to my DVR after following all instructions and the FAQ links are either broken or only refer to iPhone. Honestly didn't expect much from this lame company, so not sure why I'm so frustrated. I pay so much each month for bad service and apps that don't function.

    When I want to watch certain shows it tells me I can't watch it, because it says receiver in use and that's not true. I hate when it that happens because I can't not watch what I want to on my cellphone or computer. I called to report the problem and no one is able to fix this problem.     Many of the same issues others having--buffering issues/programs not loading correctly/please check your Internet connection/looping the loading screen, etc. I switched to Xfinity mobile/internet because AT&T is pricey & outdated. You'd think AT&T would be able to hire better programmers to get the networks updated. I highly doubt they actually read these reviews and if they do, they don't care. AT&T's customer service is awful.

    The latest update makes it so I have no video for the programs only audio. I get video just fine for their advertisements. The say to do a complete reset on my phone. It is a brand new phone I am not doing a reset for something that I am seeing all over the forums as being a problem.     It's funny how the show you are trying to watch never seems to have good video quality but all the commercials have great picture. This app sucks 🤣 the video quality is constantly changing. I tried watching the game last night an for 3/4 of the nba game was so blurry I thought I needed glasses. Fix this please I know it can't be that hard .

    Complete and Total Garbage, even worse than Dish Networks App. You can't just simply punch in the channel number like you can an a real TV Remote Control and it will not show any of my channels below 200 on the guide. The App that lets you control your Genies and Mini Genies will not allow you to move one item at a time and only allows you to move page by page and has no enter or select button and at one time when I try to log in on the App I got an account disabled or suspended or some kind of message about my account not being active. Who programmed this App? Someone who never saw a regular TV and Remote Control or only what they called "The Clicker" where it just had channel Up / Down and Volume Up / Down Buttons ? All Remotes for TVs after "The Clicker" have always had a way to directly punch in a channel number, they never had a screen where you bring up a channel list and then tap the channel and then tap a play icon. On the Browse for TV Option there is a second screen with a hidden Number Pad where you can punch in the channel number directly but not on the Watch on Phone feature, why the inconsistency? Also on the Virtual Remote for controlling the receivers you have to bring up the Keypad that only had the Keypad Numbers and Select Button, no channel Up / Down Buttons and there is plenty room to put these buttons above the navigation arrow buttons on the screen. There is no way to pause live TV in the watch on Phone feature.

    latest release has made this app unusable. easily one of the WORST designed apps I've EVER used. so many issues I'm not sure where to start - constantly 'authorizing' me to watch programs (why?!? this should be done ONCE when I open the app not EVERY time I change programs). 'optimizing video quality' leads to the error msg "The content cannot be played at this time." - what?!? I was JUST watching this can it suddenly not be available?!?! this is just a train-wreck of an app. if I could give it zero stars I would. just a complete mess. strongly suggest AT&T/DIRECTV start over. from scratch. because this app is a mess. to be clear, I ONLY use apps to watch tv (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, TCM, Showtime, HBO) and I NEVER have any of the problems that I do with this app. Zero. This app is unwatchable.

    ALWAYS very difficult trying 90% of any live TV in the app. When I first open the app, it loads & loads & finally says, "Cannot watch Live TV. Receiver in use." Um, ok annnnd? Usually can but have to pick different channel THEN back to channel we want to watch & mostly, not always, works. Nickelodeon rarely works in DTV app. Try putting Spongebob on but nope. Clear cache, force stop, uninstall & reinstall, restart phone - no help. Unacceptable! Kept DTV because Dish doesn't have Universal Kids.

    Not sure why it will not save my favorite or last channel, but it will always revert back to CNN, which is garbage. I had the Direct TV Now app and had ALOT more channels, hardly anything here and no local, and why do I need to be on my home network to watch certain channels.......isn't that why I have the app for when I'm out of town...? Not really liking the Direct TV App, for as much as they are charging me, I should have the same channels on my phone as at home.

    I have been a DirecTV customer for 15+ years. They are incredible. However, recently I had to call customer support to schedule an upgrade. I was on hold for 45 minutes to speak with the first person. Then I needed to be transferred, I waited an additional 30 minutes & then disconnected all. I called back, and waited another 35 minutes to speak to someone. They were definitely not the nicest, but was able to get things taken care of. In all the years I have never had poor service like this

    Worst customer service ever. Had a problem with the app in June. Spent an hour on the phone trying to get it resolved. Tech admitted it was an internal problem and promised to enter and escalate a service ticket. Apparently he never did. Called again today and spent 1.5 hours on the phone and still didn't get my problem resolved. Again the rep said he'd do a service ticket and transferred me to a high-level tech support line. Held another 1.5 hours and no one answered. HORRIBLE customer service.

Had Dish app before I switched and the quality was way better not to mention I could rewind live tv unlike this crappy Directv app. Anyone want good advice don't get Directv go with Dish they're way better. I had no issues with Dish app. Y'all at Directv fix this issue and I'll change my review. If there isn't a fix by the time the contract expires we're going back to dish.

    I don't get all the channels I am subscribed to, and I have to buy movies from channels I am subscribed to! Whatever is available for viewing has improved tremendously in quality in the last 4 months. However, I still don't have access to all channels in my subscription, and still have to pay for movies otherwise free in my subscription channels.

    Slow never connects with home playlist...and why do i pay full price for repeat shows disguised as new ones because of the fake aired dates that they rewrite on the info my dvr recoreds it just to find out that its and old shouldn't dvr is set to only record new shows...but your fake air dates are causing my dvr to think they are to many commercials and why when the shows comes back from commercials do they tell me what just happened before the commercial break

    I love my Directv app. I know some channels(premiums) aren't there but you casn easily download the specific premium channel app. I don't have a weak wifi service expexting it to load and not freeze up either which is why mine is flawless. I've read other reviews saying it's glichy and slow , well its not the app, its your garbage signal. Thank you for being awesome Directv!

    This app sucks. Doesn't work, I pay all this money, and I can't even enjoy it when I'm on the road. If I want to watch a game, I have to be home and connected to the internet, just to see the game. Why would u want to watch my game in my phone when im at home??. The point is to have the app so we are able to see TV away from home.. All this years I spend money on DIRECT tv and we get a mess up app.. Come on guys, do something about it..

Charges fee for service calls when the equipment fails. And, the latest issue, took funds from my account without my knowledge or consent, for charges while I had no services.

    Some channels in my package I can watch on my TV, but when I try to watch that channel on the app, even if I'm on my home network wifi, it says that the channel is not part of my package and I need to upgrade to watch it. But it plays with no problem on the TV but no access on the app.

    Extremely unstable, even on home wifi. Please fix this app. It's had problems for a couple years now. I'm paying service to allow this access to my programs and cannot get them 95% of the time. It works only when I uninstall app, restart device, and reinstall app, but the wind has to be out of the North-Northwest, when the moon is full, during a leap year in the summer solstice!!!!

The app is always "optimizing video quality". When I call about it, the operator is hard to understand, as not being located in the USA. For the price, it is not worth the hassle of watching.     This app fails more than 90% of the time when trying to open it. When I do get it open, it will not connect to my DVR. Even when I am standing right next to it. And trying to watch something that would be free on my t.v./DVR the app tries to charge me. Do not waste your time downloading this app. And by the way I have an S9 plus that is up to date on my software.

    I am some what disappointed in this app. It does not function in a consistent manner. It only plays my recorded shows if they are on a channel that is on demand. I am constantly getting an error message that someone else is streaming from another device, which is never the case. Sometimes all of my recorded shows don't show up. Also, I tried calling customer service and the agent I got was absolutely no help and didn't seem to know a lot about the app.

    Worked fine until April 1st been have problems with it ever since. I can't even use the app and I can't figure out what's wrong with it, in my opinion it's very clunky, inefficient, and slow. Overall it just has a bad menu and format. Very disappointing when I first got the app it was great. Sure there was a few bugs but I could watch any movie or tv show I wanted that was available on DirecTV. The app is exactly the same as it is at home except for local stations, you don't get those & I'm not sure why with Dish theirs was exactly as at home local stations and all.     Of all the streaming apps I have on my phone this one is by far the worst. My stomach sinks every time I think about having to watch something on it. I can rarely watch anything without it buffering what seems like every 3 minutes. Even when I'm on my own wifi at home. App takes forever to load and is very slow.. Very disappointing coming from from the likes of AT&T. It doesn't seem like they even want to compete in this market. Maybe I should switch my entire account to Xfinity.

    The app would not work properly on my chromebook. The app asked me for lots of information, and several access permissions, but would not let me into my programming. I tried this app unsuccessfully three different times, on two different chromebooks, but the app just is not a very good app. Sorry for the bad news, but you did ask for a review of your app. Fix it, and I will try it again latter. Suggestion: Check with Hulu, Netflix or any of the other apps that actually work properly.

    If you're having recent trouble TRY THIS: Uninstall "DIRECTV" and install "DIRECTV for Tablets" This worked for me! After the DIRECTV app updated on my tablet it would open then do nothing. Tried uninstall/install several times with no success. I went to change my review and saw there were 2 diff Direct tv apps. I don't know if the "DIRECTV for Tablets" is new, but it works whereas the recently updated "DIRECTV" app does not work (but did before the update, if poorly at times).

    I wish I could give this zero stars. This app sucks! When I first got DirecTV (bad mistake, can't wait until my contract is up) they told me all the cool things the app can do. If it would WORK maybe I'd be able to find out how cool it is.... but it hasn't worked since I got DirecTV!! Horribly run company since AT&T took over!!!!

    This app is infuriating. I attempt to use it to watch on my account, using the correct log in and password, yet EVERY SINGLE TIME I am told my credentials don't match. What good is this service when I can't use it, I may cancel my sub

    Updated 6/28/2020 - Zero stars - App has gotten worse than initial review 2 years ago. New issue, constantly tells me to check network connection. When it does finally connect, DVR list is old. When I try to select any of the shows, the app crashes. Remote will no longer show up, which is really the ONLY reason I kept the app this long. Deleting app after this post....Does not connect to DVR to download shows. Does not show everything on DVR. Gets stuck on splash page.

    I can't watch anything. It logs me in but wont load any channels. I get kicked out of the app before the channels load. I'm about to delete this and just go back to individual apps for the channels I watch. I'm way behind in my programs due to this.

    This app seems like it was developed and designed by grade school coders! Nothing works right, screen flashes all the time, non-connectivity issues, can't connect to DVR no matter what is tried, crapshoot on other devices, Note 9 here, but have had this problem on every 1 of my other devices. Constantly crashing and restarting, freezing, extremely slow operating. App crashes & flashes all the time, with no sign of ever being fixed properly, ever since the creation of this app - EPIC FAIL!

    Needs alot of work never had my playlist able to load and can never sign it always tells me my email is wrong. When the power is out I want to watch my playlist and my play list will not update sense I got direct tv and I cant even sign in I chanted my password and everything.

    Hasn't been working for a month or two now. Everytime I open the app all it says is "Video stream is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later (4100)" pretty crummy time for it not to be working. I haven't been happy with directtv for awhile now. I guess this is my reason to finally cancel.

    1 star because thats the minimum. Should give zero stars. The app does not work. Nothing happens when you click on a show and it opens the window where you can click "Watch Now." Completely useless.

    Would be much better if it had picture in picture option like other streaming apps have....Don't know what has happened but as of about 3 HOURS ago I can't watch anything on here AGAIN! COME ON GUYS FIX IT!!!

    Slow, doesn't always like to my system, lagging playback. Constantly says I'm streaming to another device, impossible since I'm THE only one who lives in the house and only one with access to my DVR and/or system. These bugs have been an issue for years, upgraded and updated system several times, uninstalled app, reinstalled, same stupid issue. I'll be cancelling my $260 a month service *that's my Directv bill only*! No combined internet or anything else. Getting support is worthless!!!!!!

    Works OK but still needs improvement. I like to preview the guide in the afternoon to see what's on in the evening. Unfortunately, when I change the guide to the evening time slot, select a show to read the description and then return to the guide, the time reverts to the current time. At least it doesn't crash as much as it used to!

    The only reason I gave it a 1 star is because I couldn't give it 0 or negative stars. It keeps saying check your network, but between my 5G cellphone and 5G router connection it says that over and over yet the connection is great with everything else. It's like the 771 message that pops up every time a mist forms, which is excuses. You never get deals for being a longtime customer and the products and services just get worse and more expensive. After 12 years I decided to say goodbye!

    Just signed up for Direct TV and we were already planning on moving in a month. So when we got the account set up we told them and asked if there were any extra costs to move. The lady said no. Now that it's time to move its going to be 200 to move plus install. A total of almost 300 dollars. That's insane especially after the Original price of included. To cancel the membership its going to be 380 dollars plus 80. I'm not Rich so wither way its way over lrices and unsure of what to do next.

    Absolutely one of the worst apps I have ever used on the Google store. It's a basic afterthought to DirecTV/AT&T. I have never gotten the show transfers to work between my phone and my DVR. The streaming crashes all the time. It's so bad I don't even use the app anymore. I should have stayed with Dish. Going forward I'll be cutting off satellite completely and will go with YouTube or Hulu.

    If you try to watch conservative news channels forget it with this app! It tells you that "There's something wrong. You are streaming on another device. Quit streaming on another device and try again. 102"

    This app started off great but now... Start over and you charge too much and lie to get us here. Take your cable with you. Bs it worked for 6 or 7 months and then nothing no recorded TV..

    Absolutely horrible! I have never been able to successfully log in. I have attempted logging in while at home with strong wifi. No luck. My husband has been able to log in a few times, but then the app crashes after he is in. This has gone on for months. Why hasn't anything be done to fix it??
