Bitwarden is the easiest and safest way to store all of your logins and passwords while conveniently keeping them synced between all of your devices.

Password theft is a serious problem. The websites and apps that you use are under attack every day. Security breaches occur and your passwords are stolen. When you reuse the same passwords across apps and websites hackers can easily access your email, bank, and other important accounts.

Security experts recommend that you use a different, randomly generated password for every account that you create. But how do you manage all those passwords? Bitwarden makes it easy for you to create, store, and access your passwords.

Bitwarden stores all of your logins in an encrypted vault that syncs across all of your devices. Since it's fully encrypted before it ever leaves your device, only you have access to your data. Not even the team at Bitwarden can read your data, even if we wanted to. Your data is sealed with AES-256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2 SHA-256.

Bitwarden is 100% open source software. The source code for Bitwarden is hosted on GitHub and everyone is free to review, audit, and contribute to the Bitwarden codebase.

I've been using Bitwarden (self-hosted) for months, the mobile application as well as the browser extension and the desktop version. It has never failed me once, although it's probably not the prettiest application I've ever seen. Whatever, it gets the job done very well and synchronizes flawlessly, that's all I'm asking for!

bitwarden passwort manager open source It works a million times better compared to Lastpass IMHO, I've been a long time Lastpass user and the first time I tried Bitwarden it was the time to switch! Exporting passwords to Bitwarden was a breeze too. Being able to use a PIN code on devices without biometric security and on desktop browser add-ons is a huge plus as you are not forced to enter a gigantic master password everytime. The user interface is very basic, minimal and works great. No useless bells and whistles.... And it's free!

bitwarden passwort manager chrome I don't know what I expected with this app at first. It took some getting used to. I am new to this smart phone experience. However, once I got used to using it, I can't imagine not having it. The random password generator helps me sleep better at night because I was a "one password for everywhere" user. I wish when I add a new site/app and it asks for a confirming password copy that BitWarden recognized that and handled it for me. However I just copy the generated password to the clipboard 1st.

bitwarden passwort manager download Last Pass and other major players failed me when it really mattered. Bitwarden has behaved itself throughout, and when I had a problem with Auto-fill, Alex, and Bitwarden et al, stuck with me until every last detail succeeded. This is no small deal, when you consider the huge play passwords involve, expecially when one uses non-sensical strings (as one should) to protect and enter into online relationships. Bitwarden fills a niche, yes, but does so in a confident manner.

bitwarden passwort manager ios In my opinion, an excellent replacement for the expensive monthly or yearly paid app that I was using. Has all the features I need without the ones I didn't ask for and it's a pay once and done app, not a keep raising the fee(pizzo) app. It used to be a mad dash trying to keep it in my lane. For those asking for data breach and other extra features, how about you go and pay for Dashlane, it has all the features you're asking for, for only $70/year. There's a reason that this app's only $10 once.

bitwarden passwort manager review Excellent app. I use this both on my PC and android phone. Works very well. Just few complaints though. I cannot empty the trash folder from the android app. Also, icons for many websites are not available. It would be great, if custom website icons could be added from the user's side. The developer should look into this

reviews Slow if you have a lot of entries. I moved from LastPass and ran into delays when pulling up or looking up entries. A google search shows this is a know performance issue when you have more than a couple of entries on some phones. Tried on. Samsung Note 9 and Samsung S20 Ultra and still slow. I have over 1,400 logins and over 600 notes. I realize I am a power user but other apps like 1Password and LastPass don't seem to have trouble so I would expect this to be fixed.

bitwarden passwort manager apk Love it! I love this password manager, best 1 by far and I've tired a TON of them! They have program for Win 7, Extensions 4 almost all the web browsers (desktop pc) and the Android app is awesome too! Plus it's free with no ads! Is there somewhere I can donate so I can help the developers out? One thing I wish it had though is that when I'm scrolling through my login list could you have the big alphabet letter pop up on the side like it does in my contacts app? Android 10? My list is very long

bitwarden passwort manager for windows Better than lastpass. Consistently works without hassle. When setting up a new app first open the app then bitwarden will offer to login in and when no existing logins match the app it offers the apps url and offers to save a login - say yes then exit out of the app and go back to bitwarden and edit the new login adding user name and password. From then on the login will link to the app without problem.

reddit Excellent application. For years I used Keepass synced to several devices (PC and Android) via Dropbox (Personal) or google Drive (Work), Now I have a single account for all my personal and work passwords. Sharing credentials with collections is very useful, currently I have access to several organizations. The support of every OS and every well know browser is a game changer.

Looking for a password manager? Don't go any further. The others won't offer the same load of features for free and most importantly : it's open sourced. That means a lot of people have been able and are still to double checked the app doesn't mess with your data. Easy to use, trustable, safe. What else ?

I love bitwarden, it's so simple it will when you sign up for a new website bitwarden has already has a password ready to use as passwords so you don't have to use the same passwords for websites (which is a major nono to do.... Use it>save it>sync it and access it on your other devices you habe bitwarden on...

Good for storing passwords, but autofill not working in Chrome or other browsers no matter what I've tried. Accessibility service seems to revert to 'disabled' in the app although it stays 'enabled' in device settings. Battery optimizations are off. Autofill service also not working for any apps.

Lost years of passwords on the same night I had to put down my dog. Bitwarden has been my go to app, just use my fingerprint and go. Well, somehow on tonight, of all nights, I was miraculously locked out of Bitwarden. Went to check my account balance to see how hard $500 for euthanasia and cremation will hit - and I was logged out for the first time. If you use this app, don't rely on them. 2020 strikes again. I officially hate everything.

Not that reliable! 1. The "auto-fill with bitwarden" tooltip is obstructing the keyboard. 2. Once you tap "auto-fill with bitwarden", bitwarden shows up, then you choose whatever you wanna choose from the list of matched accounts, then it will take you back the previous app. But now you realize you chose the wrong password for the app and you just want to go back to bitwarden to copy the right password, but the problem is the "auto-fill with bitwarden" tooltip is now gone! Provide it in 3 dots!

This is an incredible password manager! It's open source and very easy to use. Creating passwords is easy. There's also many other features than that to help you too (including a place to remember your possibly important deleted passwords). It being open source allows me to place more trust in Bitwarden to keep my passwords safe. For free! But if you like it, I would recommend supporting them by purchasing a $10 subscription!

  65. John Morris-avatar

A few years ago, I used to manage passwords by saving mnemonics (that only I understood) in a text file on my laptop. This worked pretty well for those passwords I could set myself (following the mnemonic patterns). This system wasn't available on my phone or other devices, which was inconvenient. The limitation of *what* it could store was much more serious: secrets like crypto tokens or credit card numbers, equally important, didn't fit the mnemonic pattern scheme, and therefore couldn't be stored safely in a plain text file. Instead, I resorted to multiple other ad-hoc systems, like pieces of paper or dedicated flash drives or even just memory, which I constantly dreaded would be leaked, lost or forgotten, a major source of anxiety for me. When I went looking for a solution (and I was really only trying to replace my password system), Bitwarden immediately stood out. First, my profession (and my passion) is developing open source software, and closed-source, proprietary solutions were immediately off the table. None of the other remaining options checked off half the boxes boxes Bitwarden did, especially availability on all my devices (even in the browser!) and Internet synch on a self-hosted server. Bitwarden even checked off boxes I didn't even know I had, like automatic password filling inside the browser AND in Android apps. Bitwarden was clearly the top choice. I spent about an hour switching over, installing the Firefox extension on my Linux laptop and the Android app on my phone, and migrating some of my most-used passwords. My life has never been the same since. Managing passwords is now almost effortless no matter which device I'm using, and no longer limited to the old mnemonic system. I didn't initially realize Bitwarden could also help remember so many other secrets, like credit cards, identities, GPG and SSH keys, API tokens and more, eliminating all my ad-hoc systems and with them, those feelings of dread and anxiety. That was undoubtedly one of the single hours spent of my life that has made a major, permanent, palpable improvement on my life every day since. Not an exaggeration!

v2.60 was unstable and when trying to activate biometrics log-on, Bitwarden would immediately quit and force close. Now with the latest v2.61 update, things have got much worse and the app crashes instantly even before it starts. Something very wrong is going on. I reverted back to v2.50 that works flawlessly. Awesome App! Bitwarden not only checks all the boxes on paper (open source, solid securely and privacy, free for personal use, cloud sync etc) but it's also a pleasure to use. It 'just works', it's stable, reliable, secure and extremely user friendly. Compared to other password managers, Bitwarden is in a league of it's own, kudos to the developers, they've done an amazing job!

Been using this for over a year. Switched from LastPass. Knowing it's FOSS is the best. It's UI is perfect. No issues at all with it. It doesn't have some of the bloat features that LastPass has but it's not needed either. The Vault does have a couple of utilities though. Awesome that you can store OTPs in the Vault too. I have 0 complaints. I look forward to seeing how this product evolves too. Recommend to everyone. It's free. Or you can pay to support the project and it's still mad cheap.

A number of sites that caused no problems for LastPass, have BitWarden filling in the user name in both the user name field and the password field. The developers pass the buck, blaming the way the sites are set up, but I point to the fact that LastPass had no problems. I would prefer using open source BitWarden if they could get their act together. As a result, I'm forced to using LastPass. Very disappointing support!!!

Sometimes the service doesn't load on certain text boxes that it doesn't detect. But when it does detect them, it's great and ahead of the competition. It has what I would call keyword check, where it doesn't just look for the current title or URL but also looks for keywords in your other saved passwords to find your already existing passwords. This was a problem I had with LastPass.

Exceptional ! 🤗 As a fifteen year subscriber to Norton Security, I have found Bitwarden to be far better and more enjoyable to use than the cumbersome Norton Password Manager. Bitwarden does what it says it'll do. It is reliable, secure, neat & tidy and you can personalise it with your own file names and add new files. It has a superb password generator, as well as auto-fill for your logins - and not an advert in sight. A much enjoyed, welcome replacement to 15 years of Norton 🤗

Mobile app doesn't always fill fields in, even when custom field ids have been correctly added (but works on the desktop version of the same site? Weird), and it needs a 'never save' option so I don't have to constantly decline it from asking to save my bank app password. Desktop browser extension is a bit slow to launch and a bit clumsy (ie no auto-fill, you have to click the icon and click on the login to fill the fields). Otherwise, it's ok. Sync works well and it's easy to use.

I no longer receive prompt to use fingerprint for login like I used to. And I can't seem to find the option under settings to enable it, it seems to have vanished. I did not do any update. Reinstalling has not helped. If this is not resolved soon enough I might be forced to look elsewhere as this feature is too important for me. I can't type my long master password everytime I want to log into my accounts.

Brilliant password manager and secure storage for notes/info. I was using Dashlane for many years and just moved over to Bitwarden. Dashlane is great but offers features I didn't use (VPN). Bitwarden is cleaner looking, more streamlined, seems to handle auto logins and is also open source. Browser addin works properly. The sharing and organisations layout is superb. I've paid for 'family' setup. I will look in to hosting my own home server for it at some point. Happy customer here!

THIS is what perfect software should be like. Has a great UI, lots of features, and it's free. I switched from LastPass and within a few hours, deleted my account there. This is an excellent password manager but with one flaw. In android app I use fingerprint unlock for faster authentications. But the problem is when I need to log in somewhere I get a "go to my vault" promt on screen not the actual user id promt which I was getting without biometric setup. But there should be the user id promt so that I can tap on it use my fingerprint and auto-fill complete. It should be that easy. Implement this like all other password managers(LastPass) and you're golden.

A year ago I ditched Lastpass for Bitwarden, for my personal passwords, after starting a new job that uses Lastpass for hundreds of corporate credentials. Bitwarden works well in my browsers, desktop apps, and on Android. Sure, the app could use some visual polish, but it's free (or cheap for pro), open source (yay!), and does exactly what it is supposed to. I found it easier and better to use, than Lastpass. It's one of the few apps I award 5 stars.

Best password manager out there! I've been using Bitwarden for years and never had any issues. I've gotten family members to start using it and they love it. I also appreciate all the extra tools it comes with like checking for weak or duplicate passwords, etc. Everyone should be using a password manager nowadays and I would definitely recommend using Bitwarden.

One of my favorites services. Simple and useful. Online and seamless sync. There's room for improvement in the customization and UI part, but I'm hopefully will see them in the near future. I'm counting on it. Thanks!

The app works like a charm, perfectly integrated with Android. It easy and fast to unlock your vault and the autofill never misses a shot. There are margins for improvements, but even at current state I wouldn't change it. Important factor: it is open source.

I believe the only issue of this app is that my Galaxy A71 front camera can used for authentication and login to this app which is not a 3D face recognition and it is not SAFE. There should be an option to disable it in settings of Bitwarden app. I still want to use fingerprint though. And yes I use the front camera to unlock my phone, but data I have in Bitwarden is way more important than anything else in my phone.

How is it that the password vault on my computer has the correct passwords but the freaking android version doesn't have it????? How is this app that stupid and useless at the same time! And yes, I already smashed the sync button multiple times and it still gives me the wrong password. This is just next level of incompetent programming.

I recommend this app to all my friends and family 👪. The first thing to use after installing an Operating System and applying all updates. I suggest you install Bitwarden on your browser and the desktop after to check email etc. Don't use the internet without Bitwarden.

This saves me so much time trying to remember all my passwords ...I have so many. Plus it provides so many great features like a password generator. Could the desktop version on Ubuntu provide this also? At the moment it does not but it used to. Jus a suggestion as I have to use another app keepass to generate my passwords on desktop.

  90. Carl-avatar

So far so good. S10 I finally took the time to mess with the app and the password generator is awesome. Just make a hard password you can remember for you master login. I noticed though that there is a premium pay but I couldn't figure what were the features available. Thanks!

Excellent tool to make my mobile life more efficient! I took a lot of time converting from Chrome to Edge browser on both PC and mobile. In parallel I setup Bitwarden to immediately sync between W10 PC and Android 10 mobile. Works flawless! Love this. They can take my money after just 1 day.

I believe the developers know deeply the definition of excellent comfort UI/UX. Love its Dark Mode. In/Export. Fingerprint unlock. Can select password or passphrase and pass history. Autofill. Trash bin. Sync. I had/have been using a lot of managers but Bitwarden is still the best for almost all users.

It deserves 5 stars but earns 1 star. They hav discontinued customer support everywhere meaning u suffer issues by yourself. Works only on Aegis with 💯 success ratio while on others it doesnt despite having all permissions including accessibility. On windows it takes hrs to download complete package even since then it won't. No offline package support. Doesnt show on pages where username & password are shown. Now I'm gradually shifting towards keepass which has better support and functionality.

PROS: nice aesthetics; reliable autofill; fingerprint and PIN can be set up simultaneously; PIN can be >4 digits. Cons: can't set up additional/specific security for important passwords; autofill is harder when username and password entry are split across pages.

What I love about this app is that it doesn't limit the amount of passwords you can save in it's free version unlike other apps. The UI could be improved and I wish it could let you store photos of your cards and identities. Other than that. It's excellent.

I tried many password managers before settling on this one. It's much more user friendly than others, including Last Pass. Works great without having to pay for Premium. Easy to set up and use. Doesn't come with a bunch of junk I don't need, like it's own browser or a million settings. It does what I need - generate, store, sync and autofill passwords, credit cards and addresses. It's even working with Samsung Internet Browser since that app's latest update. Highly recommended! Good job!

Great free password manager. I live that I can access it feel any device. The only improvement I would request to make it 5-star is to add an option to auto-clear the clipboard after 10-20 secs to add extra security.

Great app! If you really want security, secure passwords are essential. Plain text passwords are easy to crack. You need passwords that are a scrambled garbage mess of characters letters and numbers, but you won't remember any of these. This app stores and generates them for you. Works great across all my devices. And the price is perfect!

I use this app exclusively, all across every one of my systems! I did a LOT of research, checked out the best, most reliable reviews; I even tried out a few. Well, five, actually. If you look at the apps, reviews, etc, you'll find Bitwarden in the Top 5. And while that's great, and all, this is not a popularity contest! People tend to forget that. In any case, THIS IS MY L I F E we are talking about! And of the Top 5, at least one has had a major security breach, and Bitwarden is not that one.

I think I'll be back to this app once I figure a good enough way to sync my bookmarks with a chrome extension on mobile (something better than syncmarx/it improves for free) so I can switch to bold browser full time to use this app's extension and many others there.

Password managers are a must have in this day and age but finding the right one can be a headache. What I wanted was a free, open source and a modern looking password manager. This is exactly what I was looking for, it has most if not all the features you'd want in a password managers and its also free. I've been using it for about 2 years now and it's really helpful, it saves your time by generating a secure, random password and it also fills in your info in every app or site.

Having used password managers for the last six years, Bitwarden is hands down the best password manager I’ve owned. I recently switched over from Dashlane to Bitwarden because of it’s open sourced and cheaper. Bitwarden is very easy to create and store passwords. One of the best things about Bitwarden is free syncing without having to pay for a subscription. Because of Bitwarden being $10 USD a year, it was an easy decision for me to purchase this instead of Dashlane which was much more expensive. The 2FA for Bitwarden will keep your information safe and secured. Without a doubt, I would recommend this app for everyone who wants to have control of their accounts and keep it from getting hacked.

AWESOME. I made a review back in April about the app kept crashing. I tried to update it but it would not let me. But so far the craahes have stopped and it has been working amazing. A suggestion though is like a scan and delete the multiple info. I have the same saved login info for different accounts on alot of them. Im still learning all the features so it might already be available and I havent cone acrossed it yet.

New update works great. I can finally stop using an outdated ver. Old review: Why'd you get rid of the notification option? It worked great. Now it's a fight to get the on screen pop up to show or to tap it as it flashes/moves around. It also complains about needing accessibility services stuff, yet it has those. The app is pretty much unusable now as the pop up flashes or shows for just a second and then doesn't come back. I'm about to just downgrade because you guys seem slow to fix anything.

I love that it is 'Open Source'. And on the basis that so much is offered in the free version, I feel morally obligated to subscribe to premium even if only to support the product. The interface could be more attractive, but that doesn't take away from its effectiveness as a password manager. And with ONLY $10 p/a that gives features like "email breach test" among others, I had to go with premium. Bitwarden is an exellent product which suits me. One just has to try it to know its value. Thanks!

Used several paid password managers & ended up with Bitwarden. I was skeptical at first, an open source, free & audited is too good to be true. Most of this type are unsustainable, sparse updates on flaws & security breach, dying in the long run. But after examining their strategy for premium, self hosted & team options, I was more than convinced on their future cashflow. Simple, clean, no bells and whistles, cross platform with 2FA. Great free and paid options. The best one I have used so far.

Not as full featured or flexible as other pw managers I have used. Huge fail for me: autofill feature doesn't work for me, despite being enabled; support ticket closed when developer said he couldn't replicate the issue. Also annoying: you cannot go directly to the search screen, you have to back out of whatever search you were doing before, requiring several clicks before you get (again) to the search screen.

After reading great reviews of BitWarden I switched to it from SafeInCloud. Two weeks later, I was back to SIC. BitWarden's biggest drawback is that it gets in my way while adding passwords. With SIC (and also 1Password, which I used previously), I merely tapped once and my login was saved. With BitWarden, I tap to save & the app fires up, showing me the new record, and then I tap a 2ND TIME to approve the new record. While not terrible, it's annoying. Trust me when I tap to save! I mean it.

Exactly what I need. I haven't started using folders yet, but having one app to handle the passwords is a must and this app is what you, future reader need. I really like biometric unlock, which really simplifies access. Maybe you're missing some other credentials types. For example, I have stored my bitlocker password and I had to use Login type, which assumes username, which doesn't exist in this case. Highly recommended app!

I 100% recommend Bitwarden over the other password managers. Why? First, it has a simple and functional UI with features that work properly. Second, it is free and Open Source. Third, It does not allow for Phone Number 2FA(No sim swap attack possible here) and can be used with Yubikey and other FiDO security keys. Finally, it can be self-hosted for those who are weary of using cloud storage to store their data. Thank you to the devs for making the Paid version only $10 per YEAR!

Excellent app, has the advantages for being open source and also pretty good for free. But importing passwords from dashlane android is not available.
